The poor gas selectivity problem has been a long-standing issue for miniaturized chemical-resistor gas *** electronic nose(e-nose)was proposed in the 1980s to tackle the selectivity issue,but it required top-down chemical functionalization processes to deposit multiple functional ***,we report a novel gas-sensing scheme using a single graphene field-effect transistor(GFET)and machine learning to realize gas selectivity under particular conditions by combining the unique properties of the GFET and e-nose *** of using multiple functional materials,the gas-sensing conductivity profiles of a GFET are recorded and decoupled into four distinctive physical properties and projected onto a feature space as 4D output vectors and classified to differentiated target gases by using machine-learning *** single-GFET approach coupled with trained pattern recognition algorithms was able to classify water,methanol,and ethanol vapors with high accuracy quantitatively when they were tested ***,the gas-sensing patterns of methanol were qualitatively distinguished from those of water vapor in a binary mixture condition,suggesting that the proposed scheme is capable of differentiating a gas from the realistic scenario of an ambient environment with background *** such,this work offers a new class of gas-sensing schemes using a single GFET without multiple functional materials toward miniaturized e-noses.

A Novel Theory: Measuring the Real-Time-Based Arterial Properties via Vascular Loading Decoupling Technique

This paper presents a decoupling theory named as Vascular Loading Decoupling Technique (VLDT), extended from the beat-based Tissue Control Method (TCM), for noninvasive measurement of real-time-based intra-arterial blood pressure and dynamic compliance of blood vessel. Both VLDT and TCM are based upon the decoupling theory to cause the arterial pulsation without the influence from surrounding tissues and measure the variations of the vascular diameter at critical depth. Meanwhile, the AC part of blood pressure is lost, that is, the reference pressure for AC controller is absent as well. To remedy this problem, VLDT employs Step-Hold control rules and cubic spline curve fitting technique to estimate the reference pressure, identify the impedance of blood vessel, and calculate the AC control gain at Hold stage, then track the AC part of blood pressure and compute the real-time arterial blood pressure at Step stage by turns, which makes the real time measurement feasible;moreover, the dynamic compliance of blood vessel can be extracted from real-time impedances of blood vessel. Since the compliance of blood vessel is decoupled from surrounding tissues, it is valuable for diagnosing the severity of vascular sclerosis. The simulation results showed that the VLDT approach is superiority over TCM. This could provide new prospective to circulatory medicine research.

This paper presents the design,calibration,and survey strategy of the Fast Radio Burst(FRB)digital backend and its real-time data processing pipeline employed in the Tianlai Cylinder Pathfinder *** array,consisting of three parallel cylindrical reflectors and equipped with 96 dual-polarization feeds,is a radio interferometer array designed for conducting drift scans of the northern celestial *** FRB digital backend enables the formation of 96 digital beams,effectively covering an area of approximately 40 square degrees with the 3 dB *** pipeline demonstrates the capability to conduct an automatic search of FRBs,detecting at quasi-realtime and classifying FRB candidates *** current FRB searching pipeline has an overall recall rate of88%.During the commissioning phase,we successfully detected signals emitted by four well-known pulsars:PSR B0329+54,B2021+51,B0823+26,and B2020+*** report the first discovery of an FRB by our array,designated as FRB *** also investigate the optimal arrangement for the digitally formed beams to achieve maximum detection rate by numerical simulation.

ESD-Induced Noise to Low Noise Amplifier Circuits in BiCMOS

Electrostatic discharge （ESD） induced parasitic effects have serious impacts on performance of radio frequency （RF） integrated circuits （IC）. This paper discusses a comprehensive noise analysis procedure for ESD protection structures and their negative influences on RF ICs. Noise figures （NFs） of commonly used ESD protection structures and their impacts on a single-chip 5.5 GHz low-noise amplifier （LNA） circuit were depicted. A design example in 0.18 μm SiGe BiCMOS was presented. Measurement results confirm that significant noise degradation occurs in the LNA circuit due to ESD-induced noise effects. A practical design procedure for ESD-protected RF ICs is provided for real-world RF IC optimization.

As integrated circuits （IC） technologies advance into very-deep-sub-micron （VDSM）, electrostatic discharge （ESD） failure becomes one of the most devastating IC reliability problems and on-chip ESD protection design emerges as a major challenge to radio frequency （RF）, analog, and mixed-signal （AMS） IC designs. This paper reviews key design aspects and recent advances in whole-chip ESD protection designs for RF/AMS IC applications in CMOS technologies.

Correlation between sea surface temperature and wind speed in Greenland Sea and their relationships with NAO variability

The North Atlantic Oscillation （NAO） is one of the major causes of many recent changes in the Arctic Ocean. Generally, it is related to wind speed, sea surface temperature （SST）, and sea ice cover. In this study, we analyzed the distributions of and correlations between SST, wind speed, NAO, and sea ice cover from 2003 to 2009 in the Greenland Sea at 10°W to 10°E, 65°N to 80°N. SST reached its peak in July, while wind speed reached its minimum in July. Seasonal variability of SST and wind speed was different for different regions. SST and wind speed mainly had negative correlations. Detailed correlation research was focused on the 75~N to 80~N band. Regression analysis shows that in this band, the variation of SST lagged three months behind that of wind speed Ice cover and NAO had a positive correlation, and the correlation coefficient between ice cover and NAO in the year 2007 was 0.61 SST and NAO also had a positive correlation, and SST influenced NAO one month in advance. The correlation coefficients between SST and NAO reached 0.944 for the year 2005, 0.7 for the year 2008, and 0.74 for the year 2009 after shifting SST one month later. NAO also had a positive correlation with wind speed, and it also influenced wind speed one month in advance. The correlation coefficients between NAO and wind speed reached 0.783, 0.813, and 0.818 for the years 2004, 2005, and 2008, respectively, after shifting wind speed one month earlier.

SciFinder-guided rational design of fluorescent carbon dots for ratiometric monitoring intracellular pH fluctuations under heat shock

Intracellular pH plays a significant role in various biological processes, including cell proliferation,apoptosis, metabolism, enzyme activity and homeostasis. In this work, a novel design strategy for the preparation of pH responsive carbon dots(CDs-pH) for ratiometric intracellular imaging was reported. By using SciFinder database, fluorescent CDs-pH with the required p Kavalue of 6.84 were rationally designed, which is vital important for precise sensing of intracellular pH. As a result, the synthesized CDspH demonstrated robust ability to test pH fluctuations within the physiological range of 5.4-7.4. The CDspH was further utilized for fluorescent ratiometric imaging of pH in living HeLa cells, effectively avoided the influence of autofluorescence from native cellular species. Moreover, real-time monitoring of intracellular pH fluctuation under heat shock was successfully realized. This SciFinder-guided design strategy is simple and flexible, which has a great potential to be used for the development of other types of CDs for various applications.

The Tianlai Dish Pathfinder Array is a radio interferometer array consisting of 16 six-meter dish *** original digital backend integration time is at the seconds level,designed for H I intensity mapping experiment.A new digital backend with millisecond response is added to enable it to search for fast radio burst during its *** design and calibration of this backend,and the real time search pipeline for it are described in this *** is capable of forming 16 digital beams for each linear polarization,covering an area of 19.6 square *** search pipeline is capable of searching for,recording and classifying FRBs automatically in real *** commissioning,we succeeded in capturing the signal pulses from the pulsars PSR B0329+54 and B2021+51.

Assigning Real-Time Tasks in Environmentally Powered Distributed Systems

Harvesting energy for execution from the environment (e.g., solar, wind energy) has recently emerged as a feasible solution for low-cost and low-power distributed systems. When real-time responsiveness of a given application has to be guaranteed, the recharge rate of obtaining energy inevitably affects the task scheduling. This paper extends our previous works in?[1] [2] to explore the real-time task assignment problem on an energy-harvesting distributed system. The solution using Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) and several significant improvements are presented. Simulations compare the performance of the approaches, which demonstrate the solutions effectiveness and efficiency.
