We systemically investigate the nature of Ce 4f electrons in structurally layered heavy-fermion compounds Ce_(m)M_(n)In_(3m+2n)(with M=Co,Rh,Ir,and Pt,m=1,2,n=0–2),at low temperature using on-resonance angle-resolved photoemission *** heavy quasiparticle bands f^(0),f^(1/7/2)and f^(1/5/2),are observed in all compounds,whereas their intensities and energy locations vary greatly with *** strong f0 states imply that the localized electron behavior dominates the Ce 4f *** Ce 4f electrons are partially hybridized with the conduction electrons,making them have the dual nature of localization and *** quantitative comparison reveals that the f^(1/5/2)–f^(0)intensity ratio is more suitable to reflect the 4f-state hybridization strength.

Background and study aims: The placement of a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) is the procedure of choice for the long-term management of dysphagic patients with neurological disease or with trauma or tumors of the head and neck. It is not always possible to perform conventional upper gastrointestinal endoscopy in such patients due to stenosis and/or occlusion of the mouth or pharynx and/or partial or complete trismus. The aim of this study was to show whether transnasal esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) offers a feasible and effective alternative method for PEG placement in these selected patients. Patients and methods: PEG placement was required for 155 patients at our institution during a 27-month period. In 12 patients oral access of an endoscope into the esophagus was not possible. Unsedated transnasal EGD (T-EGD) was then performed using an ultrathin video gastroscope, which had a distal-end diameter of 5.9 mm. A 16-Fr polyurethane PEG tube with a conical, flexible, soft distal end and a collapsible bumper was used in all cases. The Gauderer-Ponsky pull technique was used for PEG placement. Results: T-EGD and perendoscopic transnasal placement of a PEG tube was successfully performed in all 12 patients. no patient required sedation during the procedure. no immediate or late-onset procedure-related complications occurred in any of the 12 patients. Conclusions: In some dysphagic patients in whom the oral route is not accessible with a standard endoscope, a transnasal endoscopic approach allows the placement of a PEG tube. In these selected patients this technique has been shown to be safe and effective and does not require the use of sedation.

Low-lying states in odd-Z odd-mass nuclei at the proton drip-line beyond lead have recently been studied through fusion-evaporation reactions using a gas-filled recoil separator. Isomeric 1/2+and13/2+states have been observed in odd-mass astatine and francium nuclei. The systematic behaviour of the level energies of these states have been studied and a similarity between the 1/2+state in astatine and francium has been found. Furthermore, the 13/2+state has been observed in the francium nuclei with an oblate behaviour suggesting a coupling of the i13/2proton to the 2p- 2h intruder excitation.

Mulberry, belonging to the order Rosales, family Moraceae, and genus Morus, has received attention because of both its economic and medicinal value, as well as for its important ecological function. The genus Morus has a worldwide distribution, however, its taxonomy remains complex and disputed. Many studies have attempted to classify Morus species, resulting in varied numbers of designated Morus spp. To address this issue, we used information from internal transcribed spacer（ITS） genetic sequences to study the taxonomy of all the members of generally accepted genus Morus. We found that intraspecific 5.8S rRnA sequences were identical but that interspecific 5.8S sequences were diverse. M. alba and M. notabilis showed the shortest（215 bp） and the longest（233 bp） ITS1 sequence length, respectively. With the completion of the mulberry genome, we could identify single nucleotide polymorphisms within the ITS locus in the M. notabilis genome. From reconstruction of a phylogenetic tree based on the complete ITS data, we propose that the Morus genus should be classified into eight species, including M. alba, M. nigra, M. notabilis, M. serrata, M. celtidifolia, M. insignis, M. rubra, and M. mesozygia. Furthermore, the classification of the ITS sequences of known interspecific hybrid clones into both paternal and maternal clades indicated that ITS variation was sufficient to distinguish interspecific hybrids in the genus Morus.

It is nearly a century ago that the Geiger-nuttall law,which was to revolutionize physics by its implications,was formulated based onαdecay systematics[1].Indeed,its explanation by Gamow[2]and also by Gurney and Condon[3]required to accept the probabilistic interpretation of Quantum *** Gamow theory reproduced the Geiger-nuttall law *** can assert that this is an effective theory,where concepts like"frequency of escape attempts"have to be *** Gamow's theory is so successful that even today it is applied,with minor changes,in the studies of radioactive *** may then wonder why effective approaches have been so *** reason is that theα-particle formation probability usually varies from nucleus to nucleus much less than the *** the logarithm scale of the Geiger-nuttall law the differences in the formation probabilities are usually small fluctuations along the straight lines predicted by that law for different isotopic *** importance of a proper treatment ofαdecay was attested by a recent calculation which shows that the different lines can be merged in a single *** thus obtained a generalization of the Geiger-nuttall law which holds for all isotopic chains and all cluster radioactivities[4,5].
