In this study, 10% of all registered fishermen in the coastal towns of Navachiste in Sinaloa, in northwestern mexico, answered a survey designed to collect data on their perceptions of the following topics: the impact of turtle meat consumption;human health;bycatch;illegal turtle fishing;the illegal sea turtle market;the lo-cal economy;pollution;environmental education;the success of protective legislation;and sea turtle-based ec-otourism. Perceptions were analyzed using the fuzzy logic method through classification into 5 fuzzy member-ship sets: VL, very low;L, low;m, moderate;H, high;VH, very high. The 9 topics generated decision areas upon applying fuzzy inference that revealed the membership level of the answers in each fuzzy set. The eco-nomic potential of sea turtle-based ecotourism and the economic profitability of the illegal turtle meat market were perceived as VL. Conservation legislation was perceived as H, although inefficiently applied due to cor-ruption. Ecotourism and impacts on sea turtles were perceived as VL, because they were deemed unprofitable activities at the individual and community levels. Environmental education was perceived as L, because it cen-ters on nesting, hatching and releasing turtles and is directed at elementary and middle-school students. While fishers perceive a serious negative impact of fishing activities on sea turtles in the San Ignacio-Navachiste- macapule area, they do not see themselves individually as part of the problem. Achieving sea turtle conserva-tion in this region requires: suitable ecotourism infrastructure, government investments in promotion, and stud-ies to estimate the minimum number of tourists needed to assure profitability.

As cancer survival has continued to improve, cancer patients and their sexually intimate partner (SIP) are confronted with a number of issues including sexual function and overall sexual health. Our study objective was to assess changes in sexual function in women undergoing cancer treatment and their SIP, and attempt to identify areas of needed support and improvement. In this questionnaire-based observational study, females (n = 11) completed a Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) and for SIP’s (n = 11), a Brief Sexual Function Inventory (BSFI). Level of satisfaction prior to and within 3 months following treatment with surgery, chemotherapy and/or radiation was compared. mean pre-and post-treatment total (30.7 ± 2.7 vs. 23.2 ± 3.7, p mains were significantly different for desire (4.2 ± 0.6 vs. 2.6 ± 0.6, p m (5.0 ± 0.6 vs. 3.8 ± 0.7, p = 0.001), satisfaction (5.3 ± 0.6 vs. 3.5 ± 0.9, p main scores for level of satisfaction were significantly lower following partner treatment of SIPs (3.5 ± 5.2 vs. 2.5 ± 5.2, p = 0.004). Overall, female sexual dysfunction was identified in 9% of patients prior to cancer treatment and 91% (n = 11, p ment. In conclusion, cancer treatment significantly affects sexual function in female cancer patients and their SIPs. While long term effects on sexual dysfunction are still unclear, short-term health care strategies including treatment, counseling, and appropriate referral for cancer patients and their SIPs should not be overlooked.

Background and objective Atypical 'cardiac' chest pain (ACCP) is not usually caused by myocardial ischaemia. Current noninvasive investigations for these symptoms are not yet as accurate as invasive coronary angiography. The latest 64-row multi-detector computed tomography (mDCT) technology is non-invasive, has high specificity and negative predictive values for the detection of significant coronary disease. Our aim was to investigate if this modality can provide more information in the assessment of outpatients with ACCP in addition to established cardiovascular risk scores. methods Seventy consecutive patients presenting to the outpatient clinic with ACCP underwent 64-row mDCT scan of the coronary arteries. They were categorized into low, medium or high risk groups based upon the Framingham and PROCAm scores. We defined a clinically abnormal mDCT scan as coronary stenosis =50% or calcium score ＞400 Agatston. Results Fifty-three (75.7%) patients did not have clinically abnormal scans. Framingham score classified 43 patients as low-risk while PROCAm classified 59 patients as low-risk. mDCT scans were abnormal for 18.6% and 22.0% of the respective low-risk group of patients. For patients with medium-to-high risk, 33.3% and 36.4% of Framingham and PROCAm patient groups respectively had abnormal mDCT scans. Conclusion mDCT adds valuable information in the assessment of patients with ACCP by identifying a significant proportion of patients categorized as low-risk to have underlying significant coronary stenosis and coronary calcification by established cardiovascular risk scores.

The first seedling or all-stage resistance （R） R gene against stripe rust isolated from moro wheat （Triticum aes- tivum L.） using a map-based cloning approach was identified as Yr10. Clone 4B of this gene encodes a highly evolutionary- conserved and unique CC-NBS-LRR sequence. Clone 4E, a homolog of Yr10, but lacking transcription start site （TSS） and putative TATA-box and CAAT-box, is likely a non-expressed pseudogene. Clones 4B and 4E are 84% identical and divergent in the intron and the LRR domain. Gene silencing and transgenesis were used in conjunction with inoculation with differen- tially avirulent and virulent stripe rust strains to demonstrate Yr10 functionality. The Yr10 CC-NBS-LRR sequence is unique among known CC-NBS-LRR R genes in wheat but highly conserved homologs （E = 0.0） were identified in Aegilops tauschii and other monocots including Hordeum vulgare and Brachypodium distachyon. Related sequences were also identified in genomic databases of maize, rice, and in sorghum. This is the first report of a CC-NBS-LRR resistance gene in plants with limited homologies in its native host, but with numerous homologous R genes in related monocots that are either host or non-hosts for stripe rust. These results represent a unique example of gene evolution and dispersion across species.

新西兰Taranaki盆地中新世Kora火山是海底喷发形成的碎屑岩型火山,可代表浅埋藏火山岩的储层特征。本文根据5口钻井的孔隙度、渗透率、孔隙孔径和铸体薄片开展Kora火山的储层特征、储集空间组成、缝宽以及原生和次生孔隙之间关系的分析。研究结果如下:(1)储集空间主要为次生孔隙,然后是裂缝和原生孔隙;Kora火山具有高孔隙度和高渗透率特征,孔径具有双峰到单峰的分布特征。(2)炸裂缝、淬火缝和粒间孔形成于岩浆破碎和/或喷发期间;在晚Tortonian期间产生了网状构造裂缝,在Tortonian晚期至messinian早期产生规则构造裂缝,二者形成时间均早于原油充注;筛状孔和铸模孔应由风化阶段和/或埋藏阶段的溶蚀作用形成,晶间微孔应由埋藏阶段的蚀变和/或重结晶作用形成。(3)原生孔隙控制次生孔隙的分布,特别是原生的裂缝;在Kora火山中控制筛状孔和铸模孔形成的缝宽的阈值约为9μm,较宽的裂缝可优先促成筛状孔和铸模孔的形成。(4)再搬运火山颗粒含量的增加会显著降低高孔隙度岩石的总孔隙度;近源相带的孔隙度和渗透率高于远源相带,海底喷发火山远源相带发生的强烈钙质胶结可显著减少孔隙度和渗透率。相关认识可为火山岩储层形成、演化和分布规律研究提供依据。

Lateritic soils are frequently utilised in tropical areas of the developing world as an engineering material in the construction of rural earth roads, usually in the form of engineered natural surface (ENS) roads. The heavy, seasonal rainfalls common to the tropics results in ENS roads becoming quickly saturated with rainwater, and no longer accessible to motorised transportation. microbially induced calcite precipitation (mICP) has been successfully used as a treatment process to decrease the permeability of clean, cohesionless sands by studies trying to impede the movement of groundwater, and any pollutants they may contain. In order to see if mICP treatment can also reduce the susceptibility of ENS road lateritic soils to rainwater saturation, this study has treated a Brazilian sample extracted from an ENS road in Espirito do Santo, Brazil, using the mICP bacterium Sporosarcina pasteurii contained within a urea-calcium chloride solution inoculum. Investigation, by means of a Rowe cell, of the post-treatment permeability, to untreated control samples, has shown an average decrease in the vertical coefficient of permeability of 83%, from 1.15 × 10-7 m/s for the untreated control samples, to 1.92 × 10-8 m/s in treated samples.

We propose a new type of dispersion flattening technology, which can generate an ultra-flat group velocity dispersion profile with five and six zero-dispersion wavelengths(ZDWs). The dispersion value varies from-0.15 to 0.35 ps/(nm·km) from 4 to 8 μm, which to the best of our knowledge is the flattest one reported so far, and the dispersion flatness is improved by more than an order of magnitude. We explain the principle of producing six ZDWs. mode distribution in this waveguide is made stable over a wide bandwidth. General guidelines to systematically control the dispersion value, sign, and slope are provided, and one can achieve the desired dispersion by properly adjusting the structural parameters. Fabrication tolerance of this waveguide is also examined.

Purpose: To analyze the correlation between lead follicle size at hCG trigger and IVF outcome. methods: A review of all patients undergoing their first IVF cycle between 1/2005-12/2009 was performed. Four groups were evaluated (mm, 18 - 18.9mm, 19 - 19.9 mm and ≥20 mm), based on the mean diameter of the two largest follicles on day of ovulation trigger (OT);cycle parameters and outcomes were analyzed. Results: 1577 cycles were reviewed. There were no significant differences noted for cycle parameters or outcomes for the 4 groups. However, although LBR was not significantly different, there was a decline noted as lead follicle size increased. Conclusions: Delaying the administration of OT to enhance follicular growth does not appear to improve IVF outcome. Larger lead follicles do not yield a higher percentage of mature oocytes, embryos available for transfer or LBR. A misguided zest to achieve a higher quantity of fertilizable oocytes may impair oocyte and embryo quality.
