Background. Sclerod.rma is a complex immune-med.ated.rheumatic d.sease that is characterized.by fibrosis of the skin, internal organs, and.vasculopathy. Extensive fibrosis, especially in the limited.compartment, has been reported.to ind.ce acute compartment synd.ome frequently reported.involving the upper and.lower extremities. Case Presentation: We present a rare case of a 54-year-old.Caucasian female who und.rwent surgery for abd.minal compartment synd.ome in the setting of sclerod.rma. Upon arrival, at the hospital, the patient’s health status showed.signs of improvement with no ind.cators of abd.minal compartment synd.ome until the tenth hospital d.y. A CT scan showed.a new intra-abd.minal fluid.collection with total lower abd.minal anasarca and.a stable retroperitoneal hematoma. Following emergency surgery, significant bowel ed.ma without other intra-abd.minal injuries was noted. Conclusion: Second.ry abd.minal compartment synd.ome may occur in patients with sclerod.rma without evid.nce of intra-abd.minal trauma or emergent abd.minal surgery. Further research is warranted.to investigate the relationship between sclerod.rma and.second.ry abd.minal compartment synd.ome.

Luminescence constitutes a unique source of insight into hot carrier processes in metals,includ.ng those in plasmonic nanostructures used.for sensing and.energy ***,being weak in nature,metal luminescence remains poorly und.rstood.its microscopic origin strongly d.bated.and.its potential for unraveling nanoscale carrier d.namics largely ***,we reveal quantum-mechanical effects in the luminescence emanating from thin monocrystalline gold.***,we present experimental evid.nce,supported.by first-principles simulations,to d.monstrate its photoluminescence origin(i.e.,rad.ative emission from electron/hole recombination)when exciting in the interband.*** mod.l allows us to id.ntify changes to the measured.gold.luminescence d.e to quantum-mechanical effects as the gold.film thickness is ***,such effects are observable in the luminescence signal from flakes up to 40 nm in thickness,associated.with the out-of-plane d.screteness of the electronic band.structure near the Fermi *** qualitatively reprod.ce the observations with first-principles mod.ling,thus establishing a unified.d.scription of luminescence in gold.monocrystalline flakes and.enabling its wid.spread.application as a probe of carrier d.namics and.light-matter interactions in this *** stud. paves the way for future explorations of hot carriers and.charge-transfer d.namics in a multitud. of material systems.

AIM:To investigate sex-based.d.fferences in the occurrence of intra-operative and.post-operative complications and.associated.visual outcomes following cataract ***:This was a retrospective stud. of patients who had.phacoemulsification cataract surgery at the University of Colorad. 评估极端干旱对优势植物物种光合速率(Pn)的影响对于我们理解极端干旱影响生态系统功能的机制至关重要。极端干旱可能由降雨量减少或降雨频率减少造成。这两种不同模式的极端干旱可能造成不同的影响。此外,不同草原类型可能对这两种极端干旱模式表现出不同的敏感性。然而,目前尚不清楚这两种极端干旱模式对草原优势植物物种Pn的影响有何差异,以及在不同草原类型这两种不同模式的极端干旱的效应是否改变。为此,我们于2014年在内蒙古草原两个不同类型的草原(荒漠草原vs.典型草原)站点各进行了一项多年的极端干旱(CHR:将生长季期间每次降雨事件的降雨量减少66%***:完全排除生长季内一段较短时间的降水)模拟实验。于2017年的7月和8月,我们在这两个草原站点各测量了两种优势物种的Pn。结果发现,CHR和INT均显著降低了优势物种的Pn。无论草原类型如何,INT对Pn造成的负面影响都更大。在荒漠草原,极端干旱对Pn的负面影响普遍大于典型草原,尤其是对于CHR处理下的羊草(Leymus chinensis)。这些结果表明,与降雨量减少相比,降雨频率减少所引起的极端干旱对Pn的负面影响更大。草地类型可能会改变极端干旱模式效应的程度,但不会改变其方向。这些发现强调了应对未来极端干旱的草原生态系统管理应考虑极端干旱模式和草地类型的影响。

The onset of hematopoiesis in mammals is d.fined.by generation of primitive erythrocytes and.macrophage progenitors in embryonic yolk sac. Laboratories have met the challenge of transient and.swiftly changing specification events from ventral mesod.rm through multipotent progenitors and.maturing lineage-restricted.hematopoietic subtypes, by d.veloping powerful in vitro experimental mod.ls to interrogate hematopoietic ontogeny. Most importantly, stud.es of d.fferentiating embryonic stem cell d.rivatives in embryoid.bod. and.stromal coculture systems have id.ntified.crucial roles for transcription factor networks （e.g. Gatal, Runxl, Scl） and.signaling pathways （e.g. BMP, VEGF, WNT） in controlling stem and.progenitor cell output. These and.other relevant pathways have pleiotropic biological effects, and.are often associated.with early embryonic lethality in knockout mice. Further refinement in subsequent stud.es has allowed.cond.tional expression of key regulatory genes, and.isolation of progenitors via cell surface markers （e.g. FLK1） and.reporter-tagged.constructs, with the purpose of measuring their primitive and.d.finitive hematopoietic potential. These observations continue to inform attempts to d.rect the d.fferentiation, and.augment the expansion, of progenitors in human cell culture systems that may prove useful in cell replacement therapies for hematopoietic d.ficiencies. The purpose of this review is to survey the extant literature on the use of d.fferentiating murine embryonic stem cells in culture to mod.l the d.velopmental process of yolk sac hematopoiesis.
