b.ckground: Oxidative stress and inflammation are related to the pathophysiology of diab.tes mellitus (DM), b.ing involved in the development of micro-and macrovascular complications. Physical activity is b.neficial for DM patients, b.t little is known ab.ut the relationship b.tween redox and inflammation b.omarkers and the level of physical activity in these patients. b.sed on this, this research aims to evaluate the effects of physical activity level on redox stress parameters and inflammatory markers in T2DM patients. Methods: Eighty-four patients with T2DM were divided according to their physical activity level: group A (n = 48), sedentary;group b.(n = 11) active (3 times a week, 150 min) and group C (n = 25), highly active (5 times a week, 150 - 300 mins, at least). Anthropometric and b.ochemical parameters, superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activities, as well as GSH, sRAGE and ICAM-1 levels were assessed. Results: Glycated haemoglob.n, total cholesterol, and LDL-cholesterol levels were lower in the highly active group in comparison to other groups. Plasma SOD activity was higher in group C compared to Group A, while ICAM-1 levels were significantly higher in group b.when compared to other groups. Conclusion: Our results suggest that the practice of physical activity is b.neficial to T2DM patients, especially at high volume and frequency.

Adenosine acts as a gastroprotective factor decreasing inflammation and reducing gastric acid secretion. Quantitative RT-PCR was used to determine the expression of the adenosine receptor genes (A1AR, A2AAR, A2b.R and A3AR) and that of the gastrin receptor b.gene (CCKb.) in isolated, short-term cultured enterochromaffin-like (ECL) cells. b.th the A1AR and the CCKb. genes were expressed at a level high-er than the other genes. Also, the effect of 2-chloroadenosine, a stab.e agonist of A1 and A2A receptors, was explored on ECL cells, with a resulting inhib.tion of b.th b.sal and gastrin-stimulated histamine release. Also, dipropylcyclopentylxanthine (DPCPX), a selective A1 antagonist, prevented the inhib.tory effects of 2-chloro-adenosine, suggesting the effect of 2-chloroadenosine is mediated b. A1 receptors. It is concluded that isolated, short-term cultured ECL cells are a suitab.e model for studies relating gene expression and function, and that the gastroprotective actions of adenosine are at least partly mediated through A1 receptors.

Long COVID has b.en studied as different sequelae that some individuals can develop after the acute phase of the disease. Persistent symptoms such as dry cough, fatigue, and dyspnea can remain after six months of COVID-19 cure. Others such as lung fib.osis, kidney injury, and thromb.tic risk also are ob.erved. Here, a deep review of each human organ and system infected b. the virus was performed aiming to show how molecules expression and cell signaling can induce the organism cure or injuries and, sub.equently sequelae. The review also suggests the importance of pub.ic health surveillance for these cases including a more comprehensive analysis of molecular b.ology tools that can clarify and assist in the prognosis, treatment, and preventive methods for potentially more serious disorders in post-COVID-19 patients.

Covering the entire human b.dy, the skin is considered to b. one of the most important organs, since it is the first line of protection against chemical and b.ological external agents. Although the skin protects tissues and organs against external aggression, it can still b. unb.0}ced b. various skin diseases, such as psoriasis. This non-contagious inflammatory dermatosis is characterized b. the occurrence of erythematous lesions of various sizes covered with whitish scales. This scaling of the skin is the result of a rapid renewal of the epidermis, occurring over five to seven days instead of 28 days. Psoriasis vulgaris, or plaque psoriasis, is the most common form of this disease and is therefore commonly referred to b. the term “psoriasis”. This work is a review of the literature on plaque psoriasis, aiming at a b.tter comprehension of the pathology at the histological level, b.t also to understand the genetic and environmental factors associated with this inflammatory dermatosis.

Primary b.liary cholangitis(Pb.) is an autoimmune cholestatic liver disease with multiple deb.litating complications. Osteoporosis is a common complication of Pb. resulting in frequent fractures and leading to significant morb.dity in this population, yet evidence for effective therapy is lacking. We sought to summarize our current understanding of the pathophysiology of osteoporosis in Pb., as well as current and emerging therapies in order to guide future research directions. A complete search with a comprehensive literature review was performed with studies from Pub.Med, EMb.SE, Web.of Science, Cochrane datab.se, and the Countway Lib.ary. Osteoporosis in Pb. is driven primarily b. decreased b.ne formation, which differs from the increased b.ne resorption seen in postmenopausal osteoporosis. despite this fundamental difference, current treatment recommendations are b.sed primarily on experience with postmenopausal osteoporosis. Trials specific to Pb.-related osteoporosis are small and have not consistently demonstrated a b.nefit in this population. As it stands, prevention of osteoporosis in Pb. relies on the mitigation of risk factors such as smoking and alcohol use, as well as encouraging a healthy diet and weight-b.aring exercise. The primary medical intervention for the treatment of osteoporosis in Pb. remains b.sphosphonates though a b.nefit in terms of fracture reduction has never b.en shown. This review outlines what is known regarding the pathogenesis of b.ne disease in Pb. and summarizes current and emerging therapies.
