Tumor Misdiagnosed As Cancer of the Sphenoid Sinus: Case Report and Literature Review

Respiratory epithelial adenomatoid hamartoma (REAH) is an uncommon lesion of the upper aerodigestive tract first described by Wenig and Heffner in 1995 as prominent glandular proliferations lined by ciliated respiratory epithelium originating from the surface epithelium. Case Report: We report a case of 48-year-old women with nasal polyposis history, which consults for nasal obstruction, with suspicion of malignancy on CT. Surgical resection showed a respiratory epithelial adenomatoid hamartoma (REAH) of the nasal cavity. Conclusion: REAH is a recently described pathologic entity that can present rhinorrhea, epistaxis, hyposmia, and headaches. It is a rare lesion of nasal and paranasal sinuses, but should be considered in the differential diagnosis because it is a benign lesion and complete surgical resection is curative.

Amplitude and Period Effect on Heat Transfer in an Enclosure with Sinusoidal Heating from Below Using Lattice Boltzmann Method

This work presents a simulation of the phenomena of natural convection in an enclosure with a variable heating regime by the lattice Boltzmann method(LBM).We consider a square enclosure of side H filled with air(Pr=0.71)and heated from below,with a hot portion of length L=0.8 H,by imposing a sinusoidal *** unheated segments of the bottom wall are treated as adiabatic,and one of the vertical walls features a cold region,while the remaining walls remain *** outcomes of the two-dimensional(2D)problem are depicted through isotherms,streamlines,the temperature evolution within the enclosure,and the Nusselt *** visualizations span various amplitude values“a”in the interval[0.2,0.8],and of the period T0 for Ra=*** amplitude and period effect on the results is evaluated and *** amplitude of the temperature at the heart of the enclosure increases with the increase in *** also increases with the period(T0)of the imposed temperature,something that is not observable on the global Nusselt number.

In this paper,experimental and numerical studies of heat transfer in a test local of side H=0.8 m heated from below are presented and *** the walls,the rest of the floor and the ceiling are made from plywood and polystyrene in sandwich form(3 mmplywood-3 cm polystyrene-3 mmplywood)just on one of the vertical walls contained a glazed door(2 H/3×0.15 m).This local is heated during two heating cycles by a square plate of iron the width L=0.6 H,which represents the heat source,its temperature Th is *** plate is heated for two cycles by an adjustable set-point heat source placed just down the center of *** each cycle,the heat source is switched“on”for 6 h and switched“off”for 6 *** outdoor air temperature is kept constant at a low temperature Tc<*** measurements are carried out with k-type thermocouples and with flux *** will be qualitatively presented for two cycles of heating in terms of temperatures and heat flux densitiesϕfor various positions of the test *** temperature evolution of the center and the profile of the temperature along the vertical centerline are compared by two dimensions simulation using the lattice Boltzmann *** comparison shows a good agreement with a difference that does not exceed±1℃.

A Giant Spindle Cell Lipoma of the Parotid-Masseter Lodge (A Case Report)

Background: The spindle cell lipoma is a rare benign tumor that originated from subcutaneous adipose tissue. It is a slow growing lesion and may become voluminous causing the patient an aesthetic disfigure. The diagnosis is made by the histological examination combined with immunohistochemical analysis. Radiological features present a variety of description because of the proportions difference of spindle cell lipoma components, but imaging is useful to determine the mass extents. The treatment of this kind of benign tumors is surgery which must be completed without need for other therapy. Aim: This case report highlights the exceptional location of spindle cell lipoma in the soft tissues of the parotid-masseter lodge, which may raise differential diagnosis problems with a primary parotid gland tumor. Case Presentation: A 58-year-old man, with no medical history, was presenting a swelling of the parotid region, growing progressively for 6 years, without other associated sign. The patient benefited from a careful physical examination. A computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging were carried out. Clinical and radiological findings were suggesting a benign tumor occupying the left parotid-masseter lodge. The patient went through a surgical excision of the tumor. Histological and immunohistochemical features revealed a classic shape of spindle cell lipoma. After one year of follow-up, we notice a good recovery without local recurrence. Conclusion: Surgeons and pathologists have to keep in mind the possible development of spindle cell lipoma in any subcutaneous site even if unusual one.
