Improvement in the osmoregulation capacity via nutritional supplies is vitally important in shrimp *** effects of dietary protein levels on the osmoregulation capacity of the Pacific white shrimp(***) were *** involved an examination of growth performance,glutamate dehydrogenase(GDH) and Na+-K+ ATPase mRNA expression,,and GDH activity in muscles and *** experimental diets were formulated,containing 25%,40%,and 50% dietary protein,and fed to the shrimp at a salinity of *** 20 days,no significant difference was observed in weight gain,though GDH and Na+-K+ ATPase gene expression and GDH activity increased with higher dietary protein ***,shrimp fed diets with 25% and 50% dietary protein were transferred into tanks with salinities of 38 and 5,respectively,and sampled at weeks 1 and *** fed with 40% protein at 25 in salinity(optimal conditions) were used as a *** of the salinities,shrimp fed with 50% dietary protein had significantly higher growth performance than other diets;no significant differences were found in comparison with the *** fed with 25% dietary protein and maintained at salinities of 38 and 5 had significantly lower weight gain values after 2 *** salinity change also stimulated the hepatosomatic index,which increased in the first week and then recovered to a relatively normal level,as in the control,after 2 *** findings indicate that in white shrimp,the specific protein nutrient and energy demands related to ambient salinity change are associated with protein *** dietary protein level could improve the osmoregulation capacity of *** with more energy resources allocated to GDH activity and expression.

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in COVID-19 associated acute respiratory distress syndrome:A narrative review

Venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation(VV-ECmO)is an established rescue therapy in the management of refractory acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS).Although ECmO played an important role in previous respiratory viral epidemics,concerns about the benefits and usefulness of this technique were raised during the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)***,the mortality rate initially reported in small case series from China was concerning and exceeded 90%.A few months later,the critical care community published the findings from several observational cohorts on the use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation(ECmO)in COVID-19-related *** to the preliminary results,data from the first surge supported the use of ECmO in experienced centers because the mortality rate was comparable to those from the ECmO to Rescue Lung Injury in Severe ARDS(EOLIA)trial or other large prospective ***,the mortality rate of the population with severe disease evolved during the pandemic,in conjunction with changes in the management of the disease and the occurrence of new *** results from subsequent studies confirmed that the outcomes mainly depend on strict patient selection and center *** comparison with non-COVID-related ARDS,the duration of ECmO for COVID-related ARDS was longer and increased over *** and decision-makers must integrate this finding in the ECmO decision-making process to plan their ICU capacity and resource *** narrative review summarizes the current evidence and specific considerations for ECmO use in COVID-19-associated ARDS.

Evaluation of Thermal Effect of PCm Wallboards by Coupling Simplified Phase Change model with Design Tool

A simplified PCm wallboard model is coupled to an existing design-oriented model of multi-zone buildings. Using a reference model and a basic simulation configuration, the accuracy of the resulting PCm wallboard-building thermal design tool is evaluated. A new performance indicator, called PCm utilization factor, is then proposed in order to estimate the thermal efficiency of using PCm wallboards in buildings. Using this PCm Utilization factor and a degrees-hours indicator, the ability of the PCm wallboard-building thermal design tool to evaluate the effect of PCm wallboards on heating loads and summer thermal comfort in the early design phase of a project is examined in two real case studies: a family house project and an existing office building. The user-friendliness of this design tool, and the short calculation times it leads to when performing a year-long simulation using a standard office computer, make it a well-adapted tool for sensibility studies or multi-criterion optimization for buildings that contain PCm wallboards.

由于全球气候变化和不断增加的人类活动已经影响到全球河流,最近人们对有关河流入海泥沙和水流量的问题越来越关注。反过来,通过河流的输送,海洋生态系统变的越来越脆弱。从这个角度来看,本研究以沿海河流—九龙江为研究区域为例,评估在河道上筑坝对水流量和泥沙量变化所带来的影响。利用建坝前后长期对水流量和悬浮沉积物的监测数据,结合6个月(从2013年11月至2014年4月)在九龙江代表站位——西陂库区,野外采样获取的短期悬浮沉积物的数据,应用简单线性回归可以发现二者的长期变化趋势。根据本研究的估计,从建坝前到建坝后,水流量减少了7.9%,泥沙量增加了24%。相比于建坝前水流量和泥沙量的平均值分别是83.9×108m3/a和6.42105Kg/a,建坝后二者平均值的分别是83.7×108m3/a和8.02×105Kg/a。相比于建坝后,建坝前的干季(比如十月份到第二年的四月份)数据显示有较高的泥沙量和较低的水流量。库区的悬浮沉积物的量随着水深的增加和坝前距离的减小而增加。水流量和泥沙量的长期变化趋势也可能部分受到其他因素的影响,比如九龙江流域的人口数量增加、水土保育措施的失败、农业用地、土壤类型、森林覆盖率的改变等。这些变化导致了各种各样的后果,比如水质的变化、营养盐浓度的增加、水体分层、入海泥沙量的变化、微量金属的分布以及潜在的富营养化,在本研究看来,导致这些后果的部分原因可归因于水流量和泥沙量的变化。我们可以针对河流提出适当的管理建议,类似的研究应该推广到底沙。对于九龙江综合一体的流域管理,我们应扩展由建坝引起的环保流的研究评估。

AIm: To investigate activity, toxicity, and prognostic factors for survival of erlotinib and fixed dose-rate gemcitabine (FDR-Gem) in advanced pancreatic cancer.mETHODS: We designed a single-arm prospective, multicentre, open-label phase II study to evaluate the combination of erlotinib (100 mg/d, orally) and weekly FDR-Gem (1000 mg/m2, infused at 10 mg/m2 per minute) in a population of previously untreated patients with locally advanced, inoperable, or metastatic pancreatic cancer. Primary endpoint was the rate of progression-free survival at 6 mo (PFS-6); secondary endpoints were overall response rate (ORR), response duration, tolerability, overall survival (OS), and clinical benefit. Treatment was not considered to be of further interest if the PFS-6 was 40% would be of considerable interest (p1 = 40%); with a 5% rejection error (α = 5%) and a power of 80%, 35 fully evaluable patients with metastatic disease were required to be enrolled in order to complete the study. Analysis of prognostic factors for survival was also carried out.RESULTS: From may 2007 to September 2009, 46 patients were enrolled (male/female: 25/21; median age: 64 years; median baseline carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA 19-9): 897 U/mL; locally advanced/metastatic disease: 5/41). PFS-6 and median PFS were 30.4% and 14 wk (95%CI: 10-19), respectively; 1-year and median OS were 20.2% and 26 wk (95%CI: 8-43). Five patients achieved an objective response (ORR: 10.9%, 95%CI: 1.9-19.9); disease control rate was 56.5% (95%CI: 42.2-70.8); clinical benefit rate was 43.5% (95%CI: 29.1-57.8). CA 19-9 serum levels were decreased by > 25% as compared to baseline in 14/23 evaluable patients (63.6%). Treatment was well-tolerated, with skin rash being the most powerful predictor of both longer PFS (P multivariate analysis (median OS for patients with or without rash: 42 wk vs 15 wk, respectively, Log-rank P = 0.03). Exploration of Potential Ore Deposits along the Cameroon Volcanic Line from Gravity and magnetic Studies

A gravity and magnetic study has been carried out along the continental part of the Cameroon Volcanic Line (CVL), with the aim to explore the possibility of ore’s presence into the basement of this region. Different processing techniques have been applied, including the isostatic residual, the analytic signal and the Euler deconvolution to compute the Bouguer and magnetic anomalies. Following Euler solutions (result of Euler deconvolution) and the analytic signal results, four profiles crossing main structures on the isostatic residual have been used to enhance the structure of intrusions in the studied area. Despite the lack of constraints in the studied region, the results show that the basement is intruded by bodies of different density (2.57 g/cm3 to 2.87 g/cm3), different size and shape, with depths between 1 and 10 kilometers. These bodies have been interpreted as old rocks then as potential reservoirs of rare ores. In addition, volcanic rocks modeled have constituted potential reserves of other ores like graphite, sulfur, copper, iron.

Influences of Rainfall and Temperature on malaria Endemicity in Cameroon: Emphasis on Bonaberi District

Relating the influence of climate on the occurrence of a vector-borne disease like malaria quantitatively is quite challenging. To better understand the disease endemicity, the effects of climate variables on the distribution of malaria in Cameroon are studied over space and time, with emphasis on the Bonaberi district. meteorological monitoring can lead to proactive control. The government of Cameroon, through the National Control malaria Program, has put in place strategies to control and stop the spread of the disease. This study is therefore geared towards assessing the yearly parasite ratio of malaria over the ten regions of Cameroon and to work out the influence of rainfall and temperature on disease endemicity with emphasis on a district of Douala. The model used is the VECTRI model, which shows the dynamic link between climatic variables and malaria transmission. The parasite ratio observed and simulated showed a maximum correlation of 0.75 in 2015. A positive relationship between temperature, rainfall and malaria is revealed in this study but Bonaberi has malaria all year round. The West region is the least affected by malaria. We recommend that For the VECTRI model to perform better, the population could be incorporated in the model.
