Objective:To evaluate the efficacy of ponatinib plus gossypol against colorectal cancer HCT-116 and Caco-2 ***:Cells were treated with ponatinib and/or gossypol at increasing concentrations to evaluate synergistic drug interactions by combination *** viability,FGF19/FGFR4,and apoptotic and autophagic cell death were ***:Ponatinib(1.25-40μM)and gossypol(2.5-80μM)monotherapy inhibited HCT-116 and Caco-2 cell viability in a doseand time-dependent *** combination of ponatinib and gossypol at a ratio of 1 to 2 significantly decreased cell viability(P2-and>4-fold reduction in IC50,respectively,after 24 h and 48 h,as compared to the IC50 of *** combined concentrations showed greater synergism(combination index<1)with a higher ponatinib dose reduction ***,ponatinib plus gossypol induced morphological changes in HCT-116and Caco-2 cells,increased beclin-1 and caspase-3,and decreased FGF19,FGFR4,Bcl-2 and p-Akt as compared to treatment with drugs ***:Gossypol enhances ponatinib's anticancer effects against colorectal cancer cells through antiproliferative,apoptotic,and autophagic *** may open the way for the future use of ponatinib at lower doses with gossypol as a potentially safer targeted strategy for colorectal cancer treatment.

AIM:To analyse the macular vascularisation changes analysed using optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)after successful rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RRD)repair by comparing gas vs silicone oil and macula-on vs ***:This retrospective data collection included 77 eyes with RRD that underwent pars plana vitrectomy(PPV)and gas or silicone oil *** performed an OCTA during the postoperative control between 6 and 24mo after the last surgery and evaluated the main parameters measured by OCTA:foveal avascular zone(FAZ)and parafoveolar vascular density(PVD)in the superficial capillary *** patients were divided into four groups:RRD with macular involvement treated with gas tamponade,RRD without macular involvement treated with gas tamponade,RRD with macular involvement treated with silicone oil tamponade and RRD without macular involvement treated with silicone oil tamponade.A one-way ANOVA test combined with post hoc Bonferroni corrections compared FAZ sizes and PVD in all four ***:The FAZ size was statistically significantly larger in eyes with RRD involving the macula than in those not involving it(P=0.005).There was no statistically significant difference in the FAZ sizes of the eyes treated with silicone oil tamponade compared to those treated with gas tamponade(P=0.54).There was no statistically significant difference in the PVD comparing all four ***:Despite the known risks associated with silicone oil,our findings suggest that the type of tamponade used during PPV to treat an RRD has no significant effect on the future integrity of the PVD or the size of the FAZ in the superficial capillary plexus as measured by OCTA.

Phototherapy lamps are the most effective and safest in the treatment of several medical treatments such as bilirubin. They transfer radiant energy expressed by irradiance unit in W/m2 into the skin specifically to achieve a therapeutic reduction in the bilirubin concentration in the blood. National Institute for Standards （NIS） in Egypt builds up a radiometric method to en- sure the competence of phototherapy sources （luminaire） to the standard international and national requirements. Hence, NIS provides traceability to customer through unbroken chain of phototherapy radiometer calibrated as irradiance response in W/m2. Uncertainty model including all parameters accompanied with the measurements is studied.

Purpose: The aim is evaluation of the efficacy of triple therapy of sofosbuvir, pegylated INFalpha 2a and ribavirin in treatment of chronic hepatitis C (CHC) patients genotype 4 who have high fibrosis. Materials and Methods: Fifty HCV patients with high fibrosis (F3 & F4) were included in the study. Results: SVR rate was 54%;non-responders rate was 12% and relapsers rate was 34%. When comparing SVR between F3 group patients and F4 group, it was 88% and 66% respectively, which means that SVR was higher in the F3 group. Conclusion: Triple therapy including pegylated INFalpha 2a is not an ideal therapy in treatment of CHC patients genotype 4 with cirrhosis because of low sustained virological response rates and high incidence of side effects.

Association of LOXL1 gene common sequence variants in Jordanian patients with exfoliation syndrome and exfoliative glaucoma

AIM：To investigate the association between single nucleotide polymorphisms （SNPs） in the LOXL1 gene with exfoliation syndrome/glaucoma （XFS/XFG） among ***：Sixty-one patients with XFS/XFG and 59 healthy control individuals were recruited in the *** were diagnosed with XFS/XFG using standard clinical examination techniques. The exonic rs1048661SNP and the intronic rs2165241 SNP in LOXL1 gene were genotyped using sequencing technique. Allele and genotype frequencies were compared between cases and controls using Chi-square ***：The G allele of the rs1048661 SNP and the T allele of the rs2165241 SNP were common in the sample with frequencies of 86.4% and 81.4%, respectively. In addition, there were no significant differences in the genotypic and allelic distributions between patients and controls for rs1048661 SNP （P=0.770, OR=1.21, 95%CI：0.56-2.60） and for rs2165241 SNP （P=0.605, OR=1.12,95%CI：0.59-2.09）. In addition, no significant associations were found between haplotypes of the examined SNPs and XFS/XFG in the sample （P〉0.05）. CONCLUSION：Variations in LOXL1 gene may not be associated with XFS/XFG in the Jordanian *** studies are required to confirm the current findings.

Biobed is a smart bioremediation system used to treat point-source pesticide *** is the main component of biobeds,and pesticide dissipation is affected by its *** study aimed to compare the effectiveness of compost-based(C)versus peat-moss-based(P)biomixtures of biobeds on tested pesticide *** concentrations(25,50,and 75 mg/kg)of chlorpyrifos,pendimethalin,and thiophanate methyl were added separately and as a mix to both biomixtures C and *** data showed the effect of biomixture type on the dissipation of the tested *** chlorpyrifos,its dissipation rate in biomixture P was more rapid than that in biomixture *** result was confirmed by the mineralization kinetic experiment,since 25%of the initial ^(14)C-chlorpyrifos concentration accumulated in the form ^(14)CO_(2) in biomixture P compared to only 14%in biomixture *** addition,the chlorpyrifos dissipation rate was influenced by the initial concentration when applied individually in biomixture *** contrast,biomixture C was more effective at pendimethalin dissipation than biomixture P,since>76%of pendimethalin was dissipated in biomixture C versus 67%in biomixture P at the same incubation *** thiophanate-methyl,the abilities of both biomixtures C and P were similar and less efficient than those of the other tested *** addition of the three tested pesticides to biomixture C only had a positive effect on both chlorpyrifos and thiophanate-methyl dissipation,while pendimethalin dissipation was similar when applied separately or as a *** activity was stimulated by the addition of separately or mixed pesticides to biomixtures C and P as measured by dehydrogenase activity.
