Destructive quantum interference(DQI)provides a unique approach to controlling the leakage current in the OFF state of molecular ***,the DQI in π-conjugated molecular building blocks cannot exhibit ultralow conductance due to the existence of covalently bonded σ-transport ***,suppressing the σ-contribution via σ-DQI is essential for the fabrication of molecular junctions with high insulation and effective modulation of conductance in single-molecule ***,we demonstrate the existence of σ-DQI even in a simple series of C_(m)C_(n) ring molecules,with parallel chains of m and n alkyl units(where m,n=6,8 or 10),by measuring their electrical conductance and Seebeck ***,the conductance of the symmetric C_(n)C_(n) rings is lower than that of the corresponding single chains(C_(n)),which is in contrast to the conductance superposition law in multi-channeled *** theoretical calculations reveal that the gauche conformation in a shorter chain fixed by another chain leads to the decreased conductance in alkyl rings,which originates from the phase-coherent tunneling and DQI in σ-conjugated *** finding suggests that through appropriate conformation locking by cyclization,the covalent alkane system can exhibit DQI,which offers strategies for future designs of molecular electronic devices and materials.

Destructive quantum interference (DQI) provides a unique approach to controlling the leakage current in the OFF state of molecular devices. However, the DQI in π-conjugated molecular building blocks cannot exhibit ultralow conductance due to the existence of covalently bonded σ-transport channels. Thus, suppressing the σ-contribution via σ-DQI is essential for the fabrication of molecular junctions with high insulation and effective modulation of conductance in single-molecule ***, we demonstrate the existence of σ-DQI even in a simple series of CCring molecules, with parallel chains of m and n alkyl units (where m, n=6, 8 or 10), by measuring their electrical conductance and Seebeck coefficients. Counterintuitively, the conductance of the symmetric CCrings is lower than that of the corresponding single chains (C), which is in contrast to the conductance superposition law in multi-channeled systems. Combined theoretical calculations reveal that the gauche conformation in a shorter chain fixed by another chain leads to the decreased conductance in alkyl rings, which originates from the phase-coherent tunneling and DQI in σ-conjugated systems. Our finding suggests that through appropriate conformation locking by cyclization, the covalent alkane system can exhibit DQI, which offers strategies for future designs of molecular electronic devices and materials.

TAU is a microtubule-associated protein that promotes microtubule assembly and stability in the *** is missorted and aggregated in an array of diseases known as *** are essential for neuronal function and regulated via a complex set of post-translational modifications,changes of which affect microtubule stability and dynamics,microtubule interaction with other proteins and cellular structures,and mediate recruitment of microtubule-severing *** impairment of microtubule dynamics causes neuronal dysfunction,we hypothesize cognitive impairment in human disease to be impacted by impairment of microtubule *** therefore aimed to study the effects of a disease-causing mutation of TAU(P301L)on the levels and localization of microtubule post-translational modifications indicative of microtubule stability and dynamics,to assess whether P301L-TAU causes stability-changing modifications to *** investigate TAU localization,phosphorylation,and effects on tubulin post-translational modifications,we expressed wild-type or P301L-TAU in human MAPT-KO induced pluripotent stem cell-derived neurons(i Neurons)and studied TAU in neurons in the hippocampus of mice transgenic for human P301L-TAU(p R5 mice).Human neurons expressing the longest TAU isoform(2N4R)with the P301L mutation showed increased TAU phosphorylation at the AT8,but not the p-Ser-262 epitope,and increased polyglutamylation and acetylation of microtubules compared with endogenous TAU-expressing neurons.P301L-TAU showed pronounced somatodendritic presence,but also successful axonal enrichment and a similar axodendritic distribution comparable to exogenously expressed 2N4R-wildtype-TAU.P301L-TAU-expressing hippocampal neurons in transgenic mice showed prominent missorting and tauopathy-typical AT8-phosphorylation of TAU and increased polyglutamylation,but reduced acetylation,of microtubules compared with non-transgenic *** sum,P301L-TAU results in changes in micr

Cancerous diseases and diseases resulting from bacteria and fungi are some of the pressures that humans ***,the development of biomaterials that are resistant to cancerous diseases,bacteria,and fungi has become one of the requirements of the medical field to extend the life of the biomaterial and fight pathogens after implanting these materials inside the human *** of the important biomaterials used in the field of orthopedics is *** this research,Nano substituted hydroxyapatite was prepared by the wet precipitation method,including replacing 5%of the calcium ions with neodymium,cerium,magnesium,and zinc ions in cationic *** tests were carried out to characterize the prepared *** biological properties were evaluated by examining the resistance of the substituted hydroxyapatite to bacteria and fungi,in addition to testing the effect of the material on normal cells and bone cancer *** results showed a new structure of hydroxyapatite after the substitution process and a significant improvement in the biological properties of the prepared biomaterial compared to other researches.

BACKGROUND Picky eating is a commonly observed behavior among children globally,negatively impacting their physical and mental *** common characteristics distinguish peaky eaters,including food selectivity,food neophobia,and food avoidance,there is no clear definition to assess this *** to the unavailability of data regarding picky eating,it wasn’t easy to estimate its *** To develop a regional protocol to help healthcare professionals identify and manage mild and moderate picky eating *** A virtual roundtable discussion was held in April 2021 to gather the opinions of seven pediatricians and two pediatric dietitians from eight Middle Eastern countries who had great experience in the management of picky *** discussion covered different topics,including clearly defining mild and moderate picky eating,identifying the role of diet fortification in these cases,and the possibility of developing a systematic approach to diet *** The panel identified picky eating as consuming an inadequate amount and variety of foods by rejecting familiar and unfamiliar *** of the time,moderate picky eating cases had micronutrient deficiencies with over-or undernutrition;the mild cases only showed inadequate food consumption and/or poor diet *** attention to the organic red flags like growth faltering and development delay and behavioral red flags,including food fixation and anticipatory gagging,will help healthcare professionals evaluate the picky eaters and the caregivers to care for their *** dietary supplementation and commercial food fortification play an important role in picky eating,they were no benefit in the Middle *** The panel agreed that food fortification through a food-first approach and oral nutritional supplements would be the best for Middle Eastern *** recommendations would facilitate identifying and managing picky-eating children in the Middle East.

Cyclic behavior of reinforced sand under principal stress rotation

although the cyclic rotation of the principal stress direction is important,its effect on the deformation behavior and dynamic properties of the reinforced soil has not been reported to *** carried out on large-scale hollow cylinder samples reveal that the cyclic rotation of the principal stress direction results in significant variations of strain components(ε,ε,εand γ) with periodic characteristics despite the deviatoric stress being constant during *** oscillation can be related to the corresponding variations in the stress components and the anisotropic fabric that rotate continuously along the principal stress *** under rotation appears to develop a plastic *** trends are observed for reinforced sand,but the shear interaction,the interlocking between particles and reinforcement layer,and the confinement result in significant reductions in the induced strains and associated irrecoverable plastic *** of the strains occur in the first cycle,and as the number of cycles increases,the presence of strains becomes very small,which is almost *** indicates that the soil has reached anisotropic critical state(ACS),where a stable structure is formed after continuous orientation,realignment and rearrangement of the particles accompanied with increasing cyclic *** in the range of 60°-135° produces more induced strains even in the presence of the reinforcement,when compared with other *** relates to the extension mode of the test in this range in which σ>σand to the relative approach between the mobilized plane and the weakest horizontal *** results in an increase in shear modulus while it appears to have no effect on the damping *** cycles of rotation result in an increase in shear modulus and lower damping ratio due to the densification that causes a decrease in shear strain and less dissipation of energy.

Association of LOXL1 gene common sequence variants in Jordanian patients with exfoliation syndrome and exfoliative glaucoma

AIM：To investigate the association between single nucleotide polymorphisms （SNPs） in the LOXL1 gene with exfoliation syndrome/glaucoma （XFS/XFG） among ***：Sixty-one patients with XFS/XFG and 59 healthy control individuals were recruited in the *** were diagnosed with XFS/XFG using standard clinical examination techniques. The exonic rs1048661SNP and the intronic rs2165241 SNP in LOXL1 gene were genotyped using sequencing technique. allele and genotype frequencies were compared between cases and controls using Chi-square ***：The G allele of the rs1048661 SNP and the T allele of the rs2165241 SNP were common in the sample with frequencies of 86.4% and 81.4%, respectively. In addition, there were no significant differences in the genotypic and allelic distributions between patients and controls for rs1048661 SNP （P=0.770, OR=1.21, 95%CI：0.56-2.60） and for rs2165241 SNP （P=0.605, OR=1.12,95%CI：0.59-2.09）. In addition, no significant associations were found between haplotypes of the examined SNPs and XFS/XFG in the sample （P〉0.05）. CONCLUSION：Variations in LOXL1 gene may not be associated with XFS/XFG in the Jordanian *** studies are required to confirm the current findings.

Physical origin of observed nonlinearities in Poly(1-naphthyl methacrylate):Using a single transistor–transistor logic modulated laser beam

A thermal lens technique is adopted using a single modulated continuous wave （cw） 532-nm laser beam to evaluate the nonlinear refractive index n2, and the thermo-optic coefficient dn/dT, in polymer Poly （1-naphthyl methacrylate）（P-1-NM） dissolved in chloroform, tetrahydrofuran （THF）, and dimethyl sulfoxide （DMSO） solvents. The results are compared with Z-scan and diffraction ring techniques. The comparison reveals the effectiveness and the simplicity of the TTL modulation technique. The physical origin is discussed for the obtained results.

This study proposes a robust second-order terminal sliding mode control with perturbation estimation(2OTSMCPE)strategy with application to trajectory tracking control of the flexure-based nanopositioning *** proposed controller advantages not only lie on its finite-time convergence but also can provide a high tracking precision with a chattering alleviation which is attend by employing a second-order sliding surface with the switching *** model of the piezo-driven nanopositioning system is presented ***,the sliding variable is designed such as proportional-integral-derivative form to enhance the dynamic response of the control ***,a non-singular terminal sliding function(NTSM)is used to achieve the finite-time convergence of the linear sliding ***,a perturbation estimation technique is integrated with the control structure for online estimation of the system uncertainties,thus the prior knowledge of the bounds of system uncertainties are not needed in the proposed control ***,the theoretical analysis of the 2OTSMCPE with stability proof is investigated ***,the system performance with the proposed controller is experimentally *** results reveal that the 2OTSMCPE has stronger robustness and also has smoother control signals in comparison with both conventional sliding mode control and the NTSM controller.
