Rare earth europium（Eu（3＋））-doped lithium tetraborate（Eu：Li_2B_4O_7） crystal is grown from its stoichiometric melt by microtube Czochralski pulling technique（μT-Cz） for the first time. The grown crystals are subjected to powder x-ray diffraction（PXRD） analysis which reveals the tetragonal crystal structure of the crystals. UV–vis–nIR spectral analysis is carried out to study the optical characteristics of the grown crystals. The crystal is transparent in the entire visible region, and the lower cutoff is observed to be at 304 nm. The existence of BO_3 and BO_4 bonding structure and the molecular associations are analyzed by Fourier transform infrared（FTIR） spectroscopy. The results of excitation and emission-photoluminescence spectra of europium ion incorporated in lithium tetraborate（LTB） single crystal reveal that the observations of peaks at 258,297, and 318 nm in the excitation spectra and peaks at 579, 591, 597, 613, and 651 nm are observed in the emission *** chromaticity coordinates are calculated from the emission spectra, and the emission intensity of the grown crystal is characterized through a CIE 1931（Commission International d＇Eclairage） color chromaticity diagram.

Objective. Acid secretion produced by a heterotopic gastric mucosal patch (HGMP) in the proximal esophagus, instead of gastric acid, may be responsible for laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR), passing the upper esophageal sphincter. The aim of this study was to investigate the preval.nce of HGMP in the proximal esophagus in patients with posterior laryngitis indicating the presenc e of LPR in comparison with a control group and to elucidate the possible role o f this lesion in the pathogenesis of LPR. Material and methods. A total of 36 co nsecutive patients with posterior laryngitis diagnosed on laryngoscopic examinat ion were enrolled in the study. Esophagoscopy and ambulatory 24 h intra-esophag eal dual-probe pH monitoring were performed in all patients. During endoscopy, special attention was paid to the proximal part of the esophagus, and the proxim al electrode for pH monitoring was placed in this region under endoscopic view. The control group comprised 660 consecutive patients who had undergone upper gas trointestinal endoscopy for the usual indications. When HGMP was found, biopsies were taken for histological confirmation. Results. HGMP was detected in 5 out o f 36 patients. One out of five patients with patches was excluded from the study because the histopathology of this patient‘s patch revealed antral-type mucos a, which is not capable of acid secretion. Thus a total of 35 patients were incl uded in the study, yielding a HGMP preval.nce of 11.4%(4/35). Yttrium oxide nanopowder was prepared by a novel technique using an alginate biopolymer as a precursor. The technique is based on thermal decomposition of an yttrium alginate gel, which is produced in the form of beads by ionic gelation between the yttrium solution and sodium alginate. The effect of post-anneal.ng temperature on the particle size of the nanocrystals was investigated at various tempera- tures. The products were characterized using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and atomic force microscopy. The size of the nanocrystalline Y2O3 particles varied from 22.7 to 38.7 nm, depending on the anneal.ng temperature and time. The grain size distribution （GSD） was also determined. The GSD became more non-symmetrical as the anneal.ng temperature increased, and the width of the distributions for the powders produced using the alginate method was less affected by heat treatment. This alginate method was compared with the conventional glycine combustion method, on the basis of particle size. The particles obtained using the proposed technique were smaller than those obtained using the combustion method. alginate-assisted thermal decomposition is therefore an easy and cost-effective method for preparing nanosized Y2O3 crystals.

Resistivity, magnetoresistivity and Hall effect measurements in n-type Te-doped InSb and S-doped InAs samples grown by the liquid encapsulated Czochralski technique were carried out as a function of temperature (14–350K) and magnetic field (0–1.35T). In Te-doped InSb, an impurity level with energy E1 = 3meV and the activation energy E0 = 0.26eV, which is the band gap energy, are obtained from the resistivity and Hall carrier concentration analysis. In S-doped InAs, both the linear and power law models are used in explaining the temperature-dependent resistivity. The effects of impurities on the electron and magnetic transportation properties of InAs and InSb have also been discussed.

The compressive deformation behavior of the extruded WZ42(Mg98.5Y1Zn0.5 in at.%)magnesium alloy containing a low amount of long-period stacking ordered(LPSO)phase was studied by in-situ synchrotron radiation diffraction *** were conducted at temperatures between room temperature and 350℃.Detailed microstructure investigation was provided by scanning electron microscopy,particularly the backscattered electron imaging and electron backscatter diffraction *** results show that twinning lost its dominance and kinking of the LPSO phase became more pronounced with increasing deformation *** cracks of the LPSO phase and no debonding r at the interface between the LPSO phase and the Mg matrix were observed at temperatures above 200℃.At 350℃,the LPSO phase lost its strengthening effect and the deformation of the alloy was mainly realized by the dynamic recrystallization of the Mg matrix.

This study aims to assess the impact of monospecificTectona grandisforest plantation on the soil mite abundance and diversity. To achieve these objectives, two sites situated in Ivory Coast were investigated. The first, a primary forest was characterized by a very weak human activities whereas the second, a teak plantation was characterized by a high disturbance performed during the planting. After extracting, sorted and description, 116 mite species were described in the two sites. Mite densities were lower in teak plantation and also higher in the litter and decreased to the depth in both sites. Species richness recorded in teak plantation (52 species) was significantly lower compared to primary forest (98 species). The same trend was observed for Oribatida but not for Gamasida. The lower Oribatida (5 vs. 17) and higher Oribatida (24 vs. 41) were recorded respectively in teak plantation and primary forest. Mite Shannon index and evenness were significantly different between sites. High Jaccard index values and the appearance of exclusive species in both habitats showed that the sites are very distinct. Total.number of species recorded corresponded to 58%–63% of the total.number of species estimated by ACE and Chao 1&2 estimators, indicating that the sampling effort was not sufficient. Mite abundance and diversity varied depending on the characteristics of habitats. Chemical element (Corg, Ctot, ntot, and SOM) values were lower in teak plantation (disturbed habitat) and significantly different to primary forest in the topsoil. Apart from litter height, soil depth, pH and C/n ratio, others variables were strongly correlated to mite abundance and diversity.

Large amounts of sediments originating from the Changjiang(Yangtze)River are deposited in the subaqueous delta and in the adjacent muddy area off the mouth and on the inner shelf of the East China *** terrestrial sediments deposited in these areas not only contain information about the composition and environment of the source area,but they also record changes in anthropogenic activities.A sediment piston core(CJ0702)was extracted from the Changjiang subaqueous depocenter(31.00°n,122.67°E)in a water depth of 22.0 *** core was subsampled at 1–2 cm intervals and analyzed for grain size,clay mineralogy,and major element *** indicate a relatively high sediment accumulation rate of approximately 3.11 cm yr−*** parameters exhibited only minor cyclical fluctuations in the core,which resulted from many *** the past 120 years,the Changjiang River-derived sediment is the primary source of sediment in the offshore mud area without evidence for the Yellow River-derived sediment *** the trunk stream shifted from the north Branch to South Branch,the variations of proxies are controlled by the periodic fluctuation possibly linked to El niño-Southern Oscillation(EnSO)and the Pacific Decadal Oscillation(PDO).In addition,anthropogenic heavy metal concentrations can be divided into three stages,which coincide well with economic development and environmental protection policies.
