Date palm fiber(DPF)derived from agrowaste was utilized as a new precursor for the optimized synthesis of a costeffective,nanostructured,powderactivated carbon(nPAC)for aluminum(al3+)removal from aqueous solutions using carbonization,KoH activation,response surface methodology(RSM)and central composite design(CCD).The optimum synthesis condition,activation temperature,time and impregnation ratio were found to be 650℃,1.09 hour and 1:1,***,the optimum conditions for removal were 99.5%and 9.958 mgg 1 in regard to uptake *** optimum conditions of nPAC was analyzed and characterized using XRD,FTIR,FESEM,BET,TGA and Zeta ***,the adsorption of the al3+conditions was optimized with an integrated RSMCCD experimental *** results revealed that the adsorption kinetics data was well fitted by the pseudosecond order model,whereas the adsorption isotherm data was best represented by the Freundlich isotherm *** activated carbon indicated that DPF can serve as a costeffective precursor adsorbent for al^(3+)removal.

Biogenic amino acid methionine-based corrosion inhibitors of mild steel in acidic media

n,n-Diallyl methionine ethyl ester hydrochloride 5 underwent alternating copolymerization with So_2 via the Butler cyclopolymerization protocol in dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSo) to give water-soluble cycloterpolymer 6 with a ～1:1 molar ratio of sulfide and sulfoxide groups as a result of oxygen transfer from DMSo. Half of the sulfide groups in 6, upon oxidation with H_2o_2, afforded polymer sulfoxide 7 and polymer sulfone 8. The solution properties of these polymers were determined via a viscometric technique. The thermal stability of these polymers was determined by thermogravimetric analysis. The inhibition efficiency obtained from gravimetric mass loss, potentiodynamic polarization, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques agreed well with each other. The corrosion efficiencies increase with increasing concentration of the polymers. At a polymer concentration of 175 mM, the maximum inhibition efficiency of copolymer compounds 6–8 was determined to be 92%, 97%, and 95%, respectively. The synthesized polymer compounds acted as mixed-type inhibitors. Polymer compound 7 adsorbed onto the metal surface via chemisorption and physisorption and obeyed langmuir, Temkin, and Freundlich adsorption isotherms. Analyses by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy–energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy indicated that the adsorbed polymers formed a thin film on the metal surface and prevented further corrosive attack.

Epi- and endobiont faunal communities on an Egyptian Mediterranean rocky shore: species composition and their competition for space

The exposed calcareous rocky area of the Abu Qir Headland,east of alexandria,Egypt which range from coarse grains,through pebbles,cobbles,and boulders to rocky platforms,was signifi cantly colonized by sclerobionts(epibionts and endobionts).The epibiont species diversity was comparatively higher than that of *** communities included bryozoans(the anascan-grade cheilostome Bifl ustra savartii),serpulid(Hydroides elegans,Spirobranchus ***,Vermiliopsis striaticeps and Protula or Apomatus)and spirorbid(Spirorbis)wormtubes,and balanoid barnacles(Amphibalanus amphitrite,Balanus trigonus,and Perforatus perforatus).The cheilostome bryozoan colonies,which developed extensive sheets,proliferated on the study rocky shore either encrusting the bioeroded basement directly,or encrusting other epilithic taxa,particularly balanoid barnacles and serpulid *** displayed a remarkable marginal competitive interaction(overgrowth and stand-off)for space on the study rocky *** the other hand,endobionts were not well represented on the studied rocky shore *** was possible to identify three ichnotaxa:Gastrochaenolites,Maeandropolydora,and *** fi ndings documented represent a signifi cant contribution to our knowledge of sclerobionts composition,sequence of their colonization and/or bioerosion,and their mutual relationships on the intertidal rocky shore of the Abu Qir Headland.

Spatial regression approach to estimate synthetic unit hydrograph by geomorphic characteristics of watersheds in arid regions

Rainfall-runoff relationship in arid regions is unique and challenging to *** for bridging the hydro-meteorological knowledge gap for planning,designing and managing water resources is therefore vitally *** objective of this study is to develop a method for estimating unit hydrograph at reasonably finer time resolutions(10-min and 1-h)which can be easily adaptable by practitioners at subcatchment levels,especially when the focus area is *** wadi-flow at 5-min interval and tipping bucket rainfall measurements at 1-min interval were obtained to cover 10 major watersheds in *** deconvolution method was applied to derive the unit hydrographs(UHs)from wadi-flow and excess *** catchment characteristics such as the watershed area,length of the main wadi and the length to the centroid of the catchment area were derived from digital elevation model(DEM)*** whole study area was then divided into 515 sub-catchments with various shapes and sizes.A strong relationship was found between the wadi length and the length to the centroid of the catchment area(R2>0.89).This relationship was then adopted to simplify the classical Snyder method to determine ***,several parameters of the Snyder method were calibrated to the arid environment by matching the peak-flow,lag-time and three time-widths(75%,50%and 30%of the peak-flow)of 10-min and 1-h UHs with physical characteristics of the *** developed relationships were validated with independent rainfall and wadi-flow *** indicate that the calibrated parameters in these arid watersheds are quite distinct from those suggested for other regions of the world.A marked difference was found between the 10-min UHs estimated by the S-hydrograph method and the deconvolution ***,it is concluded that a method depends on natural hydro-meteorological conditions would be more practical in arid *** proposed methodology can be used for water resources ma

Investigation of residual stresses in welded joints of heat-resistant magnesium alloy Ml10 after electrodynamic treatment

In repair of aircraft structures of magnesium alloy Ml10,the argon arc non-consumable electrode welding is *** this case,the residual welding stresses occur in repairwelds,being one of the causes for reducing the service characteristics of the restored *** stresses arise as a result of ***-weld heat treatment is used to reduce the residual *** heat treatment,which occurs after welding,increases the cost of *** leads to the search for alternative methods to control the stressed state of welded joints,one of which is electrodynamic treatment,which reduces the level of residual stresses in repair welds,and as a consequence,the cost of the welding repair in restoring aircraft *** was found from the results of experiments carried out,that the electrodynamic treatment allows reduces the initial level of stresses in welded joints,reaching 120 MPa,to 30 MPa,and at definite geometric characteristics of the specimens forming the field of compressive stresses,the values ofwhich are equal to-50 *** is shown that the optimum distance between the zones of treatment,being 5 mm,provides the guaranteed covering the zones of electrodynamic effect and,as a consequence,the maximum efficiency of the electric dynamic treatment.

The demand for the telecommunication services,such as IP telephony,has increased dramatically during the CoVID-19 pandemic *** tele-phony should be enhanced to provide the expected *** of the issues that should be investigated in IP telephony is bandwidth *** telephony pro-duces very small speech samples attached to a large packet *** header of the IP telephony consumes a considerable share of the bandwidth allotted to the IP *** wastes the network's bandwidth and inﬂuences the IP telephony *** paper proposes a mechanism(called Smallerize)that reduces the bandwidth consumed by both the speech sample and the *** is achieved by assembling numerous IP telephony packets in one header and use the header'sﬁelds to carry the speech *** metrics have been used to measure the achievement Smallerize *** number of calls has been increased by 245.1%compared to the typical *** bandwidth saving has also reached 68%with the G.28 ***,Smallerize is a possible mechanism to enhance bandwidth utilization of the IP telephony.

Current self-limitation in a transverse nanosecond discharge with a slotted cathode

A high-voltage transverse pulsed nanosecond discharge with a slotted hollow cathode was found to be a source of high-energy （few kV） ribbon electron beams. Conditions for the formation and extinction of electron beams were experimentally studied in discharges in helium at pressures of 1-100 Torr. It was found that interaction of fast electrons with a non-uniform electric field near the slotted cathode led to limitation of the magnitude of the discharge current. A physical model was developed to describe the discharge current self-limitation that was in satisfactory agreement with the experimental results. Some technical solutions that are expected to increase the upper current limits in transverse nanosecond discharge are discussed.

Simplification of Double Folding Model Calculations in Study of Interaction Between Two Deformed nuclei

The Double Folding （DF） model calculation of the internuclear potential in heavy-ion interactions when the participant nuclei are deformed in their ground states involves a six-dimensional integral. Using the multipole expansion in these calculations, the DF six-dimensional integral reduce to the sum of the products of three single-dimensional integrals. In this paper we have presented a procedure for the calculation of the radius dependent functions in the multipole expansion of the nuclear density and their Fourier transforms. We have also reduced the DF model integrals to the sum of the single dimensional integrals using the obtained relations for the radius dependent functions in the multipole expansion and their Fourier transforms.
