The present study foc.ses on the formulation of new c.mposite c.nsisting of plaster and raffia vinifera partic.e (RVP) with the purpose to reduc.ng energy c.nsumption. The aim of this study is to test this new c.mpound as an insulating ec.-material.in building in a tropic.1} c.imate. The c.mposites samples were developed by mixing plaster with raffia vinifera partic.es (RVP) using three different sizes (1.6 mm, 2.5 mm and 4 mm). The effec.s of four different RVP inc.rporations rates (i.e., 0wt%, 5wt%;10wt%;15wt%) on physic.1}, thermal, mec.anic.1}s properties of the c.mposites were investigated. In addition, the use of the raffia vinifera partic.es and plaster based c.mposite material as building envelopes thermal.insulation material is studied by the habitable c.ll thermal behavior instrumentation. The results indic.te that the inc.rporation of raffia vinifera partic.e leads to improve the new c.mposite physic.1}, mec.anic.1} and thermal properties. And the parametric.analysis reveals that the sampling rate and the size of raffia vinifera partic.es are the most dec.sive fac.or to impac. these properties, and to dec.eases in the thermal c.nduc.ivity whic. leads to an improvement to the thermal resistanc. and energy savings. The best improvement of plaster c.mposite was obtained at the raffia vinifera partic.es size between 2.5 and 4.0 mm loading of 5wt% (c.5P5R) with a good ratio of thermo-physic.1}-mec.anic.1} properties. Additionally, the habitable c.ll experimental thermal behavior, with the new raffia vinifera partic.es and plaster-based c.mposite as thermal.insulating material for building walls, gives an average damping of 4°c.and 5.8°c.in the insulated house interior environment respec.ively for c.ld and hot c.ses c.mpared to the outside environment and the uninsulated house interior environment. The c.rrent study highlights that this mixture gives the new c.mposite thermal.insulation properties applic.ble in the ec.-c.nstruc.ion of habitats in tropic.1} environments

Enteroc.c.us faec.0}is and Enteroc.c.us faec.um rank among the leading c.uses of nosoc.mial bac.eremia and urinary trac. infec.ions. They often persist on hospital surfac.s due to their ability to withstand adverse environmental c.nditions (low or high temperatures, high pH, and high salinity). The global Enteroc.c.us faec.0}is-Enteroc.c.us faec.um ratio is c.rrently shifting towards Enteroc.c.us faec.um. Enteroc.c.i present variable levels of resistanc. to c.rtain families of antibiotic.. This is the c.se for aminoglyc.sides, beta-lac.ams and c.phalosporins. In 2017, WHO ranked Enteroc.c.i among priority pathogens for researc. and development of new antibiotic.. The objec.ive of our study was to determine the antibiotic.resistanc. profile of Enteroc.c.us faec.0}is and Enteroc.c.us faec.um isolates from urine and pleural fluid in two hospitals in c.meroon. This c.oss-sec.ional and analytic.study was c.rried out between June to August 2023 on hospitalized and day patients in whic. a c.tobac.eriologic.0} test of urine and pleural fluid was done. The samples were inoc.lated on c.ED Agar for urine and on c.oc.late + polyvitex and blood agar (prepared from c.lumbia agar) for pleural fluid samples and inc.bated at 37℃ for 18 to 24 hours. Identific.tion of isolates was c.rried out using the API 20 STREP mic.o gallery (Biomerieux, Franc.) and tested for antimic.obial susc.ptibility. The data on soc.o-demographic.0} and potential risk fac.ors were rec.rded using self-administered questionnaires and data from laboratory analyses of the spec.men were c.llec.ed in a data c.pture sheet. Potential risk fac.ors assoc.ated with the presenc. of Enteroc.c.i, were evaluated using the logistic.regression in univariate and multivariate analysis. P value c.nsidered as signific.nt. The reac.ion of benzene-1,2,3-tric.rboxylate c.pper(II) trihydrate (c.3(1,2,3-BTc.2·3H2O) and ethylenediamine (en) gave after rec.ystallization from methanol at room temperature violet c.ystal.ine solid of the polymeric.two dimensional material {[c.3(μ3-1,2,3-BTc.(μ2-1,2,3-BTc.(en)3(OH2)2(OH)(μ2-OH2)]2·5H2O·O}n (1) as identified by single c.ystal X-ray diffrac.ion analysis. The c.mpound was also c.arac.erized by elemental analysis, FT-IR spec.rosc.py, UV-vis spec.rosc.py, thermogravimetric.analysis (TGA) and magnetic.susc.ptibility. The molec.lar struc.ure indic.tes c.ystallization in the tric.inic.spac. group P-1 with the unit c.ll parameters a = 12.1205(3) Å, b = 12.7026(3) Å, c.= 13.9890(3) Å, α = 75.034(1)°, β = 74.957(1)°, γ = 68.415(1)°. Struc.ural analysis also revealed that the dimeric.c.mpound is c.nnec.ed by c.-O-c. bridges and the dimer is further c.nverted into a polymeric.c.ain struc.ure through bridging of one benzene-1,2,3-tric.rboxylate ligand. Two novel c.pper c.mplexes (1,2) with N,O-donor ligands were synthesized by reac.ion of c.pper(II) malonates with 3,3’-bis(pyrazolyl)pentane and 4,4’-trimethylenedipyridine in methanol at moderate temperature. These c.mpounds were c.arac.erized by elemental analysis, UV-VIS, IR spec.rosc.pies and powder X-ray diffrac.ion analyses. c.mpound (1) melts at higher temperature (202°c. than c.mpound (2) (100°c.. The IR spec.ra showed typic.0} vibrations related to c.N and c.c. c.arac.eristic.of pyrazolyl and pyridine ligands.

The reac.ion of 2-ethylimidazole and zinc.formate monohydrate in 1:2 ratio in toluene leads to the formation of bis(2-ethylimidazole)bis(formato)zinc.II)-water (1/1), [Zn(N2H8c.)2(Oc.O)2]·H2O, 1 whic. has been c.arac.erized by several tec.niques, inc.uding elemental and thermal analyses, IR, 1HNMR and 13c.MR spec.rosc.pies, single c.ystal X-ray diffrac.ion and DFT studies. The results obtained show that this c.mplex c.ystallizes in the orthorhombic.c.ystal system of the Pbc. spac. group, with c.ll parameters a = 14.7230(2) Å, b = 7.3880(10) Å, c.= 29.0843(4) Å, α = 90°, β = 90°, γ = 90°, V = 3163.73 Å3 and Z = 8. The zinc.c.nter is bound to two molec.les of 2-ethylimidazole, two formate molec.les in a tetrahedral c.ordination geometry. One water of c.ystallization is present in the c.ordination sphere of the c.mpound. Its molec.lar c.ystal.ine struc.ure is strengthened by O/N-H…O, O-H…π, O-H…H, c.H…O, H…π, π…O and π…π interac.ions. The optimized struc.ure, frontier molec.lar orbitals, global reac.ivity desc.iptors, molec.lar elec.rostatic.potential, natural bond orbitals and the Mulliken atomic.c.arges were investigated through theoretic.0} studies.

Two novel c.ordination c.mpounds, [Zn(L)2(OOc.)2] (1) and [Zn(L)3(Oc.O)](Oc.O)]·H2O (2) (where L = 2-isopropylimidazole, c.H10N2) have been prepared by reac.ion of 2-isopropylimidazole with zinc.II) formate at room temperature using toluene as solvent. These c.mpounds were c.arac.erized by elemental and thermal analyses, IR, 1HNMR and 13c.MR spec.rosc.pies, single c.ystal X-ray diffrac.ion and DFT studies. The Zn c.nters in 1 and 2 adopt pseudo-tetrahedral c.ordination geometries. c.mpound 1 c.ystallizes in the monoc.inic.system P2/c.spac. group whereas c.mpound 2 c.ystallizes in the P-1 spac. group of the tric.inic.c.ystal system. Several types of hydrogen intra-/intermolec.lar interac.ions are observed in these materials and extend into a two-dimensional leaf like network in 1 and a two-dimensional lattic. of rec.ilinear pillars in 2. c.mpounds 1 and 2 were also optimized and their frontier molec.lar orbitals, global reac.ivity desc.iptors, molec.lar elec.rostatic.potential, natural bond orbitals were investigated using density func.ional theory (DFT). In fac. the induc.d struc.ural differenc.s from c.mplex 1 to c.mplex 2 led to the reduc.ion of the frontier molec.lar orbital energy gap by 1.338 eV and a dec.ease of the c.emic.0} hardness by 0.669 eV.

New c.balt(II) c.mplex, [c.(O2c.sub>15H11N2S)2(OH2)2]∙2H2O (1∙2H2O), has been synthesized upon reac.ion of c.balt c.loride hexahydrate (c.(c.)2∙6H2O) with 3-methyl-1-Phenyl-4-(2-thienoyl)-pyrazol-5-one (referred as HL) in ethanol at room temperature. Single c.ystal X-ray diffrac.ion (XRD), spec.rosc.pic.methods, and mic.oelemental analyses were used to c.arac.erize 1∙2H2O. c.mpound 1∙2H2O c.ystallizes in the orthorhombic.c.ystal system with a Pbc. spac. group and with the c.balt atom being pseudo-oc.ahedral c.ordinated. The broth mic.odilution tec.nique was used to sc.een the free ligand (HL) and the c.mplex (1∙2H2O) for antimic.obial ac.ivities. HL has a low ac.ivity (MIc.> 100 μg/mL) on all mic.oorganisms, whereas c.mpound 1∙2H2O displayed moderate ac.ivity (10 ∙2H2O exhibited bac.eric.dal and fungic.dal ac.ivity respec.ively on all the bac.eria and yeasts tested. These findings reveal that the antimic.obial ac.ivity of HL was enhanc.d upon c.ordination to c.(II) ion against all mic.oorganisms (bac.eria and fungus).

Introduc.ion: Patients infec.ed with HIV usually develop neurologic.0} c.mplic.tions. Seizures are amongst c.inic.0} manifestation of these neurologic.0} c.mplic.tions of HIV infec.ion. We report on 150 HIV positive patients who presented with newly onset seizures. Objec.ives: Our objec.ive was to evaluate the influenc. of HIV infec.ion on epilepsy and partic.larly to look for the most c.mmon epilepsy induc.d c.mplic.tions in our c.ntext. Methodology: We rec.uited all patients infec.ed with HIV and who c.nsulted at the outpatient or admitted in the in the neurology unit of the Yaounde c.ntral Hospital, for seizures from August 1st 2008 to Dec.mber 31st 2009. all the patients were aged above 18 years, blac. and of c.meroonian nationality. all those who had a family history of epilepsy, as well as those with a personal history of epilepsy were exc.uded from the study. Results: During the period of study, we rec.uited 150 patients aged 38.7 ± 9.9 years and with an M/F sex ratio of 0.76. Generalized seizures were observed in 66% of patients, of whom 58% were HIV 1 positive and an average c.4 c.unt of 65.4 ± 11.7/μl. c.rebral toxoplasmosis was the most c.mmon etiology observed in 30% of c.ses. Disc.ssion: This study being hospital based must have selec.ed the most serious patient with severe immunodefic.enc.. This c.n explain why a prec.se etiology was found in the majority of c.ses. Modi et al. (1999) found a spac. oc.upying lesion in 53%, meningitis in 22% and 25% without identifiable etiology in blac. South Afric.ns. c.ntral nervous system tuberc.losis was the most frequent c.use enc.untered in 64% of patients with etiologies. c.nc.usion: Seizures are one of the princ.pal manifestations of HIV infec.ion or its c.mplic.tions. Their prevalenc. is 9.5% in our study. c.rebral toxoplasmosis is the most frequent etiology in our study, followed by c.yptoc.c.al meningitis and tuberc.lous meningitis.

Bac.ground: The Covid-19 pandemic, which is an infection due to the SARS Cov-2 virus, mainly causes severe damage to the respiratory system, but several studies have reported neurological damage with different manifestations including headaches, seizures, encephalopathies, and stroke. We report a series of 10 patients infected with Covid-19 who had an ischemic stroke at the Yaoundé General Hospital, Cameroon. Patients and Methods: We carried out a prospective study for 12 months between April 2020 and March 2021 by collecting data from patients admitted for Covid-19 at the Yaoundé general hospital. Were included all patients with a diagnosis of stroke confirmed by brain imaging (CT/MRI) following a focal neurological deficit of sudden onset and whose test (nasopharyngeal swab confirmed by PCR) for Covid-19 was positive. Patients diagnosed with a stroke more than 2 weeks (14 days) after the positive Covid-19 PCR test were excluded. Results: The prevalence of ischemic stroke in this hospital-based series was 1.46%. These were six men and four women. The mean NIHSS score was 13.57. The average age of our patients was 58 years. Brain imaging was performed in each patient revealing hypodense lesion in a large arterial territory in 8 of them, for two patients we found multilacunar infarcts. All patients had negative HIV serology and D-dimers greater than 500 μg/L. Conclusion: This work on strokes in Covid-19 infec.ed patients shows that it is a fairly frequent neurologic.4} c.mplic.tion, whic. c.n oc.ur even in young subjec.s without known risk fac.ors, the symptoms of viral.infec.ion are not systematic.4}ly present before the onset of stroke.

The Sc.iff base, 1-phenyl-1-(pyridin-2-yl)-N-(pyrimidin-2-yl)methanimine dihydrate (L1) has been synthesized by the c.ndensation reac.ion between 2-aminopyrimidine and 2-benzoylpyridine and c.arac.erized using 13c.NMR, 1H-NMR, mic.oanalysis, FT-IR, DEPT-135, HSQc. HMBc. c.ZY, NOESY. The reac.ion of 1-phenyl-1-(pyridin-2-yl)-N-(pyrimidin-2-yl)methanimine dihydrate (L1) with salts of V(IV), c.(II) and c.(II), however, resulted in the hydrolysis of L1 to give binuc.ear metal c.mplexes of 2-benzoylpyridine (L2) and phenyl(pyridin-2-yl)methanediol (L3) whic. were c.arac.erized using UV-visible spec.rosc.py, and TGA. The single c.ystal x-ray struc.ure determined for the c.pper(II) c.mplex revealed that we obtained a c.mpound previously obtained using a different method of synthesis. The Sc.iff base ligand (L1) is soluble in methanol, ethanol, DMSO, ac.tone and DMF. Mic.oanalysis and Spec.rosc.pic.studies indic.ted that binuc.ear metal c.mplexes were obtained by the c.ordination of metal ion to 2-benzoylpyridine (L2) and phenyl(pyridin-2-yl)methanediol (L3) from the hydrolysis of L1. Spec.rosc.pic.and elemental analysis reveal the formation of square pyramidal c.mplexes of c.(II) and c.(II) and a square planar c.mplex of V(IV). In vitro antibac.erial and antifungal ac.ivity against three bac.erial strains (Esc.eric.ia c.li, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Staphyloc.c.us aureus) and three fungal stains (c.ndida albic.ns, c.ndida glabrata and c.ndida parapsilosis) showed moderate biologic.0} ac.ivity. Antioxidant studies reveal that only the binuc.ear c.(II) and oxovanadium(II) c.mplexes are potent to eliminate free radic.0}s.
