BACKGROUND Spinal cord injury(SCI)is an important cause of traumatic paralysis and is mainly due to motor vehicle ***,there is no definite treatment for spinal cord *** To assess the outcome of rat embryonic stem cells(rESC)and autologous bone marrow-derived neurocytes(ABMDN)treatment in iatrogenic SCI created in rats,and to compare the efficacy of the two different cell *** the study comprised 45 male Wistar rats weighing between 250 and 300 g,which were divided into three groups,the control,rESC and ABMDN *** anesthetized animals underwent exposure of the thoracic 8th to lumbar 1st vertebrae.A T10-thoracic 12th vertebrae laminectomy was performed to expose the spinal cord.A drop-weight injury using a 10 g weight from a height of 25 cm onto the exposed spinal cord was *** wound was closed in *** urinary bladder was manually evacuated twice daily and after each evacuation Ringer lactate 5 mL/100 g was administered,twice daily after each bladder evacuation for the first 7 postoperative *** the 10th day,the rats underwent nerve conduction studies and behavioral assessment[Basso,Beattie,Brenham(BBB)]to confirm *** embryonic stem cells,ABMDN and saline were injected on the 10th *** animals were euthanized after 8 wk and the spinal cord was isolated,removed and placed in 2%formalin for histopathological analysis to assess the healing of neural tissues at the axonal *** all the animals tolerated the procedure *** BBB scale scoring showed that at the end of the first week no recovery was observed in the ***-injection,there was a strong and significant improvement in rats receiving rESC and ABMDN as compared to the control group based on the BBB scale,and the Trainof-four-Watch SX acceleromyography device exhibited statistically significant(Pal tissue after *** evaluation of the spinal cord showed maximum vacuolization and least gliosis i

this study aims to produce 229th using an innovative nuclear reactor concept,i.e.,accelerator-driven system(ADS)***,we investigated the feasibility of producing 229th from neutron transmutation of 226Ra to expand the availability of 225Ac and 213Bi in a simple model of ADS *** reactor comprises two zones,i.e.,an inner zone with a fast neutron spectrum and outer zone with thermal neutron spectrum,which is a subcritical core coupled with an external neutron *** behavior,activity,and mass ratio of the obtained isotopes were investigated using the Monte-Carlo *** addition with offering the capability,flexibility,and safety of radioactive waste transmutation,the proposed ADS model provides high 229th yield and requires less time than a critical reactor with the same neutron flux and irradiated quantity of 226Ra.

Can the Prediction of Intrauterine Insemination Results by Used Aniline Blue Stain (ABS) and Sperm Chromatin Dispersion (SCD) Levels?

Introduction: this study aimed to perform routine seminal fluid analysis, sperm DNA fragmentation, and sperm function tests at the chromatin maturation level and evaluate pregnancy in the patients passing intrauterine insemination before starting Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) method. Materials and Methods: In this prospective study, 111 couples who underwent Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) in unexplained infertility patients were admitted to al-Farah IVF and assisted reproductive center in Baghdad, Iraq between November 2020 and February 2021 were evaluated. Semen fluid analysis was performed based on (WHO 4th) guiding rules. In addition, Sperm Chromatin Dispersion (halo test) and sperm maturation were performed with Aniline Blue Stain (ABS). Results: Sperm Chromatin Dispersion (SCD) groups were compared in terms of pregnancy outcome;the positive pregnancy rate was found to be above in the normal SCD groups (p = 0.0005). In addition, Aniline Blue Stain (ABS) groups were compared in the terms of pregnancy outcome;the positive pregnancy rate was found to be higher in the normal ABS group (p = 0.017). Conclusion: Our study showed that the use of DNA fragmentation (SCD) and sperm maturation tests (ABS) together with routine semen analysis in intrauterine insemination cases will make a significant contribution to the prediction of Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) increased results. So, these results indicate a defect in the effect of DNA fragmentation on the outcome of intrauterine insemination.

Phase change materials(PCMs)are used in buildings and automobiles to control the interior temperature,following to their high thermal storage capacity and energy *** summer,controlling the interior temperature of vehicles can be difficult,especially in cities where public transportation is excessively ***,heating,ventilation,and air-conditioning systems are included to provide thermal comfort inside vehicles,but they use a significant amount fuel,which ultimately have negative impacts on the *** this study,a prototype bus model was developed from an actual bus and scaled-down to 1/20th size.A bulb was used as an internal heat source and experiments were conducted under the sun in summer to reflect scenarios of buses stuck in *** cases were considered by opening and closing the windows and doors and placing the PCM layer on the roof and covering the *** results demonstrate that when the PCM is used to cover the bulb and roof,the interior temperature can drop to the ambient temperature and remain there for a longer period of *** fact,keeping the windows and doors open results in a significantly lower indoor temperature than when they are *** results show that the heat from the engine makes a major contribution to raising the temperature inside of the *** results from the opened cases can be applied to various forms of public transportation worldwide,but for many closed vehicles,additional ducting systems integrated with PCM may be the best option.

An effective vaccine against group A streptococcus(GAS)is highly desirable for definitive control of GAS *** the present study,two variants of amphiphilic chitosan nanoparticles-based GAS vaccines were *** vaccines were primarily composed of encapsulated KLH protein(a source of T helper cell epitopes)and lipidated M-protein derived B cell peptide epitope(lipoJ14)within the amphiphilic structure of *** only difference between themwas one of the nanoparticles vaccines received additional surface coating with poly(I:C).the formulated vaccines exhibited nanosized particles within the range of 220–240 *** uptake study showed that nanoparticles vaccine without additional poly(I:C)coating has greater uptake by dendritic cells and macrophages compared to nanoparticles vaccine that was functionalized with poly(I:C).Both vaccines were found to be safe in mice and showed negligible cytotoxicity against HEK293 *** immunization in mice,both nanoparticle vaccines produced high antigen-specific antibodies titres that were regulated by a balanced th1 and th2 response compared to physical *** antibodies elicited high opsonic activity against the tested GAS ***,our data demonstrated that amphiphilic chitosan nanoparticles platform induced a potent immune response even without additional inclusion of poly(I:C).

In vivo study of pomegranate(Punica granatum) peel extract efficacy against Giardia lamblia in infected experimental mice

Objective: To investigate the efficacy of pomegranate(Punica granatum) peel extract as an alternative treatment on the white laboratory mice against ***: Experimental animals were divided into five groups, including Group A:control(infected untreated), Group B: infected and fed with pectin 7 days before infection, Group C: infected and fed with pectin starting from 7th day of infection,Group D: infected and fed with pomegranate peel extract 7 days before infection, and Group E: infected and fed with pomegranate peel extract starting from 7th day of ***: Results from this study revealed that the prevention rate in the experimental groups reached approximately 50% by the 10 th day of using pomegranate peel ***, stool cyst counts of groups showed a significant reduction in the shedding of cysts approximately 75.6% by day 20 post-infection. ELISA test showed a reduction in Giardia antigen in the stools of the experimental groups which received pomegranate peel extract. the cure rate of these groups was approximately 97.4% by 28 th day of ***: Our present findings indicated that the pomegranate peel extract proved to be valuable in prevention and treatment of Giardia lamblia infection. Further studies are required to determine the effective dose of pomegranate peel extract against Giardia lamblia infection.

Measuring the Level of Knowledge and Awareness about Scoliosis in Saudi Arabia

Background: Scoliosis is a serious condition occurring in 1% to 4% of the population. this study was conducted and designed to educate society about scoliosis and measure the knowledge and awareness about it. Methods: this was a cross-sectional study conducted on members of the Saudi Society who have consented to participate in this research between the 8th of January and 5th of February 2023. Results: A total of 427 people agreed to participate in the study. the highest percentage of the participants was female 69.1%. About 41% participants out of 427 were in the age group 18-25 years. Most of the participants were from the Middle Region. (71.9%) of participants were unfamiliar with scoliosis, while (72.1%) had no prior knowledge of the condition. Conclusion: this study indicates insufficient awareness and knowledge about scoliosis in Saudi Arabia. therefore, further studies are needed to raise awareness about scoliosis and help people to learn more about this condition.
