Efficacy of tadalafil on improvement of men with erectile dysfunction caused by COVID-19:A randomized placebo-controlled trial

Objective: According to the high prevalence of COVID-19 and the subsequent risk of men's sexual health, we decided to investigate the efficacy of tadalafil on improvement of men with erectile dysfunction caused by COVID-19.Methods: In this study, 70 outpatients who were recovered from COVID-19 without acute respiratory distress syndrome with negative polymerase chain reaction test and a complaint of erectile dysfunction were divided into two groups: 35 patients who received tadalafil 5 mg daily and 35 who received placebo. For each patient, basic assessment of sexual function was performed using the 5-item version of the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF-5) questionnaire. Then, treatment was started from 2 months after complete recovery of COVID-19 with negative polymerase chain reaction test for 3 months. At the end of the treatments, the patients were re-evaluated for sexual function using the complete version of IIEF questionnaire. Finally, the results before and after treatment in the intervention group were compared with those of the control group.Results: Treatment with both tadalafil and placebo improved the patients' sexual function criteria compared to the baseline. However, this improvement was significantly higher in the intervention group with tadalafil than the control group with placebo (psion: Daily administration of tadalafil 5 mg seems to be effective and safe for improvement of erectile dysfunction caused by COVID-19.

Health care is an important part of human life and is a right for everyone. One of the most basic human rights is to receive health care whenever they need it. However, this is simply not an option for everyone due to the social conditions in which some communities live and not everyone has access to it. This paper aims to serve as a reference point and guide for users who are interested in monitoring their health, particularly their blood analysis to be aware of their health condition in an easy way. This study introduces an algorithmic approach for extracting and analyzing Complete Blood Count (CBC) parameters from scanned images. The algorithm employs Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to process images containing tabular data, specifically targeting CBC parameter tables. Upon image processing, the algorithm extracts data and identifies CBC parameters and their corresponding values. It evaluates the status (High, Low, or Normal) of each parameter and subsequently presents evaluations, and any potential diagnoses. The primary objective is to automate the extraction and evaluation of CBC parameters, aiding healthcare professionals in swiftly assessing blood analysis results. The algorithmic framework aims to streamline the interpretation of CBC tests, potentially improving efficiency and accuracy in clinical diagnostics.

With a surge in the university’s student and staff population, parking problems and congestion have rapidly intensified. The recent inclusion of women drivers, particularly during official working hours, has exacerbated these challenges. This pressing issue underscores the critical necessity for a structured approach to managing university entries and overseeing parking at the gates. The proposed smart parking management system aims to address these concerns by introducing a design concept that restricts unauthorized access and provides exclusive parking privileges to authorized users. Through image processing, the system identifies available parking spaces, relaying real-time information to users via a mobile application. This comprehensive solution also generates detailed reports (daily, weekly, and monthly), aiding university safety authorities in future gate management decisions.

目的利用锥形束CT(cone-beam computed tomography,CBCT)探讨上颌尖牙阻生与蝶鞍形态变异的相关性,从三维方向上评价蝶鞍变异对上颌尖牙阻生的临床预判。方法收集125例上颌阻生尖牙患者(研究组)和125例与之相匹配的尖牙正常萌出者(对照组)。将所有样本CBCT数据导入Dolphin软件,进行重建头颅侧位片和三维图像,记录观察各组蝶鞍桥接(Ⅰ、Ⅱ、Ⅲ型)的类型分布和发生情况。使用sPss 25.0软件对各组结果进行统计学分析。结果研究组蝶鞍桥接的发生率显著高于对照组(P=0.004),PIC(腭侧尖牙阻生)组蝶鞍桥接的发生率显著高于对照组(P=0.007),Ⅱ型和Ⅲ型蝶鞍桥接分布和对照组存在统计学差异(P=0.012)。而BIC(唇侧尖牙阻生)组和对照组蝶鞍桥接的发生情况无统计学差异。三维重建图像上各组间蝶鞍桥接发生率无统计学差异(P>0.05)。结论上颌尖牙阻生与蝶鞍桥接的发生情况有相关性,但仅上颌尖牙腭侧阻生患者更易发生蝶鞍桥接,而上颌尖牙唇侧阻生患者蝶鞍桥接的发生情况无变化。

Novel Ransomware Hiding Model Using HEVC steganography Approach

Ransomware is considered one of the most threatening cyberattacks.Existing solutions have focused mainly on discriminating ransomware by analyzing the apps themselves,but they have overlooked possible ways of hiding ransomware apps and making them difficult to be detected and then analyzed.Therefore,this paper proposes a novel ransomware hiding model by utilizing a block-based High-Efficiency Video Coding(HEVC)steganography approach.The main idea of the proposed steganography approach is the division of the secret ransomware data and cover HEVC frames into different blocks.After that,the Least significant Bit(LsB)based Hamming Distance(HD)calculation is performed amongst the secret data’s divided blocks and cover frames.Finally,the secret data bits are hidden into the marked bits of the cover HEVC frame-blocks based on the calculated HD value.The main advantage of the suggested steganography approach is the minor impact on the cover HEVC frames after embedding the ransomware while preserving the histogram attributes of the cover video frame with a high imperceptibility.This is due to the utilization of an adaptive steganography cost function during the embedding process.The proposed ransomware hiding approach was heavily examined using subjective and objective tests and applying different HEVC streams with diverse resolutions and different secret ransomware apps of various sizes.The obtained results prove the efficiency of the proposed steganography approach by achieving high capacity and successful embedding process while ensuring the hidden ransomware’s undetectability within the video frames.For example,in terms of embedding quality,the proposed model achieved a high peak signal-to-noise ratio that reached 59.3 dB and a low mean-square-error of 0.07 for the examined HEVC streams.also,out of 65 antivirus engines,no engine could detect the existence of the embedded ransomware app.

Nowadays,there is tremendous growth in biometric authentication and cybersecurity applications.Thus,the efficient way of storing and securing personal biometric patterns is mandatory in most governmental and private sectors.Therefore,designing and implementing robust security algorithms for users’biometrics is still a hot research area to be investigated.This work presents a powerful biometric security system(Bss)to protect different biometric modalities such as faces,iris,and fingerprints.The proposed Bssmodel is based on hybridizing auto-encoder(AE)network and a chaos-based ciphering algorithm to cipher the details of the stored biometric patterns and ensures their secrecy.The employed AE network is unsupervised deep learning(DL)structure used in the proposed Bss model to extract main biometric features.These obtained features are utilized to generate two random chaos matrices.The first random chaos matrix is used to permute the pixels of biometric images.In contrast,the second random matrix is used to further cipher and confuse the resulting permuted biometric pixels using a two-dimensional(2D)chaotic logisticmap(CLM)algorithm.To assess the efficiency of the proposed Bss,(1)different standardized color and grayscale images of the examined fingerprint,faces,and iris biometrics were used(2)comprehensive security and recognition evaluation metrics were measured.The assessment results have proven the authentication and robustness superiority of the proposed Bssmodel compared to other existing Bssmodels.For example,the proposed Bss succeeds in getting a high area under the receiver operating characteristic(AROC)value that reached 99.97%and low rates of 0.00137,0.00148,and 3516 CMC,2023,vol.74,no.20.00157 for equal error rate(EER),false reject rate(FRR),and a false accept rate(FAR),respectively.

Objective:To assess the molluscicidal effect of the eco-friendly green synthesized neem silver nanoparticles(neem-Ag NPs)against Biomphalaria alexandrina,the snail intermediate host for schistosoma mansoni,and their cercaricidal potential.Methods:Methanol extracts from neem fruits were used for green synthesis of neem-Ag NPs.The neem-Ag NPs were characterized using UV-visible absorption spectra,dynamic laser light scattering technique,and transmission electron microscopy.The potential molluscicidal effect against adult and juvenile Biomphalaria alexandrina and the effect of the sub-lethal concentration on hatching of snail eggs and schistosoma mansoni cercariae were evaluated.Results:The surface plasmon resonance of neem-Ag NPs showed a sharp absorption peak atλ_(max)=518 nm together with multiple peaks.The hydrodynamic diameter was(77.15±34.53)nm,the polydispersity index(0.338±0.000)and the zeta-potential-14.07 mV.Moreover,transmission electron microscopy showed that the average size of the nanoparticles was(27±2)nm.Agglomeration was evident and a light-colored capping layer could be seen coating the nanoparticles.Juvenile snails(LC_(50):0.83 ppm)were more susceptible to neem-Ag NPs than adults(LC_(50):1.07 ppm).In addition,neem-Ag NPs and neem at LC_(50)concentrations inhibited the egg-hatching of snails and showed cercaricidal activity in a time-dependent manner.Conclusions:Neem-Ag NPs have lethal activities against Biomphalaria alexandrina snails and their eggs,as well as schistosoma mansoni cercariae.Hence,neem-Ag NPs could be a potential agent to control schistosomiasis.

目的通过锥形束CT(CBCT)影像探究颈椎三维形态与骨骼成熟度之间的相关性,并建立基于颈椎三维形态的颈椎骨成熟度(CVM)定量评估模型。方法共收集358例(男175例,女183例)中国青少年患者的颅颌面CBCT影像,随机分为模型建立组(277例)及验证组(81例)。定义并测量了21个颈椎三维形态学参数,纳入颈椎全部部位,包括颈椎椎体、横突、棘突、椎弓根、锥板、关节突。颈椎骨成熟指数(CVMI)由有经验的正畸医师测定并作为参考标准。采用spearman等级相关系数和多元线性逐步分析确定相关性并构建回归模型。使用验证组数据检验各模型的评估可靠性并应用配对样本Wilcoxon符号秩检验比较模型评估值与参考标准。结果颈椎各部位的三维形态学变化与CVMI相关(P0.05)。结论颈椎三维形态与骨骼成熟度相关,本研究建立的CVM三维形态学评估方法及相应的回归模型具有良好的可信度,与专家的一致性较高。

Experimental Investigation on saline Water Purification Using Reverse Osmosis by a Novus Biomimetic Membrane

A substantial amount of Earth’s water is inadequate for human consumption while local demand is outstripping traditional supplies in many world regions;thereby,brackish and seawater treatment has become a prerequisite.This investigation suggested a complete design of an RO-based desalination filter with a multilayer biomimetic membrane.The study demonstrated a comprehensive method for experimentally fabricating a proprietary biomaterial-based multilayer nano-porous membrane.This analysis revealed that silk Nano-Fibril(sNF)and Hydroxyapatite(HAP)extracted from Bombyx Mori silkworm cocoons may be utilized to manufacture highly methodical multilayer membranes by incorporating protein-self-assembly and in-situ-bio-mineralization.Membrane’s aquaporin layer containing lipid-bilayers has rapid water permeability and high efficacy at eliminating salt ions and contaminants.The 4µm thick sNF/HAP membrane showed a considerable decrease in salinity,with a salt rejection of 93.33%.The proposed membrane had a saline water permeability of 6.58 LMH/bar,almost 61.09%higher than conventional TFC membranes.Hydrophobic barrier and spiral-wrapped filter architecture of the membrane enable low fouling and self-cleaning properties.The schematic filter design and biomimetic fabrication of the sNF/HAP membrane have formulated a conceptual framework that might direct to the broad-scale,low-cost RO water purification filters,increasing the efficiency of water desalination and boosting the effectiveness of water treatment technologies to reduce potable water scarcity.
