The Usage of Social Media and E-Reputation System in Global Supply Chain: Comparative Cases from Diamond &Automotive Industries

The last decade witnesses a heave use of social media-based information systems in different fields of business such as logistics, procurement, and supply chain management. Managing these types of information systems, could help companies to outsource their supply chain functions in a global scale and enhance their competitive advantages. However, the digital performance of these activities inherent risks of inappropriate supplier selection, lack of trust, bounded rationality and uncertainty about the supply conditions (e.g., pricing, shipping and timing). To address such challenges, this research explains how companies use e-reputation systems and social media to select their global trusted suppliers. Based on two-case evidence from British Diamond and Egyptian Automotive companies, the researchers conducted 20 interviews with purchasing and supply chain professionals. Chen & Lin’s reputation system model has been adopted to explain the process of selecting and evaluating a trusted supplier and to inform our data analysis. Our findings referred to the lack of experience among diamond professionals on how to use e-reputation systems and their lack of understanding to the role of social media-based ratings or referrals during the stages of selection suppliers’ discovery and approval. Though, automotive professionals find e-reputation system a strong tool to build goodwill, tacit credibility, competence and predictable trust. Ironically, both cases confirm that supply chain professional use these systems to re-evaluate and reselect their existing suppliers than to extend new supply networks.

Influence of anodization conditions on deposition of Hydroxyapatite on α/β Ti alloys for Osseointegration: Atomic Force Microscopy Analysis

Integrating titanium-based implants with the surrounding bone tissue remains challenging. This study aims to explore the impact of different anodization voltages （20-80V） on the surface topography of two-phase （α/β） Ti alloys and to produce TiO2films with enhanced bone formation abilities. Scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy （SEM-EDS） and atomic force microscopy （AFM） were applied to investigate the morphological， chemical， and surface topography of the prepared alloys and to confirm the growth of hydroxyapatite （HA） on their surfaces. Results disclosed that the surface roughness of TiO2films formed on Ti-6al-7Nb alloys was superior to that of Ti–6al–4V alloys. Ti-6al-7Nb alloy anodized at 80 V had the highest yields of HA after immersion in SBF with enhanced HA surface coverage. The developed HA layer had a mean thickness of 128.38 ± 18.13 μm， suggesting its potential use as an orthopedic implantable material due to its promising bone integration and， hence， remarkable stability inside the human body.

Electrochemical anodization of cast titanium alloys in oxalic acid for biomedical applications

Titanium and its alloys have numerous biomedical applications thanks to the composition and morphology of their oxide *** this study,the colorful oxide films were formed by anodizing cast Ti-6al-4V and Ti-6al-7Nb alloys in a 10%oxalic acid solution for 30 s at different voltages(20–80 V)of a direct current power *** force microscopy was used as an accurate tool to measure the surface roughness of thin films on the nanometer *** electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction were performed to analyze surface morphology and phase *** to the results,the produced titanium oxide layer showed high surface roughness,which increased with increasing anodizing *** impact of anodizing voltages on the color and roughness of anodized layers was *** corrosion resistance of the anodized samples was studied in simulated body fluid at pH 7.4 and a temperature of 37℃ utilizing electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and the potentiodynamic polarization *** anodized samples for both alloys at 40 V were at the optimal voltage,leading to a TiO_(2) layer formation with the best compromise between oxide thickness and corrosion ***,findings showed that TiO_(2) films produced on Ti-6al-7Nb alloys had superior surface roughness properties compared to those of Ti-6al-4V alloys,making them more appropriate for orthopedic *** the obtained data and the fruitful discussion,it was found that the utilized procedure is simple,low-cost,and ***,anodization in 10%oxalic acid proved a viable alternative for the surface finishing of titanium alloys for biomedical applications.

Control of zinc corrosion in acidic media: Green fenugreek inhibitor

Fenugreek seeds extract was examined as a green corrosion inhibitor for Zn in 2.0 mol/L H2SO4 and 2.0 mol/L HClsolutions by mass loss and electrochemical measurements. Scanning electron microscope （SEM） images show that the surfacedamage is decreased in the presence of the inhibitor. X-rays photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS） analysis was performed to identify thecorrosion product, ZnO, and to prove the inhibitor adsorption mechanism. The maximum inhibition efficiency values are 90.7% after1 h and 66.6% after 0.5 h by 200 mL/L of fenugreek extract in H2SO4 and HCl solutions, respectively. Addition of I^- ion greatlyimproves the inhibition efficiency of fenugreek seeds extract for Zn corrosion in HCl due to the synergistic effect. Potentiodynamicpolarization and EIS measurements prove the inhibition ability of fenugreek for Zn corrosion in HCl as indicated by the decreasedcorrosion current density and increased charge transfer resistance values in the presence of fenugreek.

An explicit and novel structure,lattice dynamics,and photoemission of La-doped nanocrystalline SrZrO_(3) perovskite

As no complete and comprehensive studies have been previously reported for La-doped nanocrystalline SrZrO_(3)(SZO),we researched herein a detailed investigation for pure and La-doped samples.A modified solid-state reaction process,including successive cycles of milling and sintering at high temperature,was followed to produce SZO and Sr_(0.9)La_(0.1)ZrO_(3)(SLZO)powdered *** analysis of X-ray diffractometer data predicts that the two samples exhibit orthorhombic structure with an increase in crystallite size by~25%for doped sample.A great reduction in Raman modes intensity(~60%)and an annihilation of several vibration modes were detected using Raman *** degree of ordering on the B-site was recorded to be higher in La-doped *** to ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis)absorption,a decrease in the optical gap width(E_(g))from 4.40 eV to 4.21 eV was achieved by La incorporation due to the presence of additional defect states such as oxygen and Sr vacancies at the band *** process of electron-hole recombination was studied using photoluminescence(PL)*** of PL spectra yielded four emission bands:one green band,one blue band,and two violet *** intense violet emission atλ=393 nm approximately five times greater than that detected for pure SZO is realized as La^(3+)substitutes for Sr^(2+).Such property nominates SLZO for technological applications requiring highly intense violet emission,e.g.,light-emitting diodes.

Optical properties and radiative rates of Nd^(3+) doped zinc-sodium phosphate glasses

Preparation using melt quenching technique and optical characterizations of Nd^(3+) doped Zn-Na phosphate glasses are presented. The structure of the present glasses was studied using X-ray diffraction and FT-IR spectroscopy. UV-vis spectra of the present glasses were analyzed at different concentrations of Nd_2 O_3. The effect of neodymium concentration on the density and energy band gap was investigated. The density of the present glasses slightly increases with the increasing of Nd_2 O_3. A small variation of energy band gap with the increasing of neodymium content is observed as well, while E_g values decrease with the increase of Nd_2 O_3 content. The E_g values lie between 4.36 and 4.69 eV. Based on the measured optical spectra, Judd-Ofelt theory was used to determine the optical parameters such as line strengths, optical intensity parameters(Ω_t), transition probabilities, and transition lifetimes. Hypersensitive transitions were identified in the absorption spectrum, the greatest line strengths are recorded at the transitions^2 G_(7/2)+ ~4 G_(5/2), ~4 S_(3/2) + ~4 F_(7/2) and ~4 D_(1/2) + ~4 D_(3/2)+ ~4 D_(5/2) + ~2 I_(11/2) with wavelengths of 580, 475 and 355 nm,respectively. Lifetimes of the important ~4 F_(3/2) laser-level were determined; which show decreasing trend with the increasing of Nd_2 O_3 content and are found to be between 0.838 and 1.595 ms. The uncertainty of the present results was estimated. The RMS deviations were determined, which show lower values than those in the literature.

Billets of A356 aluminum alloy were treated using ultrasonic vibrations during *** billets were reheated to the semisolid state at different routes to optimize the *** were,then,thixocast using a die casting *** results showed that the ultrasonic-treated billets exhibited finely distributed α（al） globules after reheating and *** thixocast ultrasonic-treated billets showed higher ultimate tensile strength and elongation compared with the untreated ***,the thixocast parts showed a tendency to ductile fracture under tension when made from ultrasonic-treated billets,while those made of untreated billets showed brittle fracture with obvious straight *** results revealed the feasibility and competence of ultrasonic melt treatment as a potential route for preparing billets for thixocasting.

Effect of using ascorbic acid and cysteamine supplementation onin-vitrodevelopment of buffalo embryos

Objective:To improvein vitro embryo production in buffalo by supplementation of L-ascorbic acid during maturation and development (experiment 1) and combination with another antioxidant as cysteamine (experiment 2).Methods:Two experiments were performed, the first one aimed to evaluate the different concentrations (0, 25, 50, 100 μM) of L-ascorbic acid on embryo developmental rate of buffalo oocytes. The L-ascorbic acid was added to the maturation and culture media. In the second experiment, oocytes were cultured in media with two type of antioxidant (ascorbic acid + cysteamine) or ascorbic acid ***:There was a significant increase in cleavage rate at 25, 50 μM than 100 μM and control group. But, the blastocyst rate was higher at 50 μM ascorbic acid than other concentrations (0, 25, 100 μM). Supplementation of ascorbic acid and cysteamine to maturation and cultured media improved embryo development than ascorbic acid ***: Using of 50 μM L-ascorbic acid duringin vitro maturation and development improve the developmental competence of buffalo oocytes, this effect was increase with the presence of cysteamine.
