Cubic equation-of-state solid models are one of the most widely used models to predict asphaltene precipitation *** parameters are needed to model precipitation under different pressures and temperatures and are usually obtained through tuning with multi asphaltene onset *** the purpose of enhancing the cubic Peng–Robinson solid model and reducing its dependency on asphaltene experiments,this paper tests the use of aromatics and waxes correlations to obtain these thermodynamic *** addition,weighted averages between both correlations are *** averaging is based on reported saturates,aromatics,resins,asphaltene(SARA)fractions,and wax *** the methods are tested on four oil samples,with previously published data,covering precipitation and onset *** proposed wax-asphaltene average showed the best match with experimental data,followed by a SARA-weighted *** new addition enhances the model predictability and agrees with the general molecular structure of asphaltene molecules.

Preoperative Oral Sedation with Midazolam and Paracetamol vs Sedation Nasally with Midazolam and Ketamine for Children Scheduled for Dental Treatment

Background: Preoperative anxiety is common among children. It can result in adverse physiological and psychological outcomes. Pharmacological and non-pharmacologic techniques used preoperatively to decrease anxiety and improve cooperation in pediatric patients. The extent of an individual child’s risk for stress reflects genetics, personality, parenting, and previous life experience. Children 1 to 5 years of age are at the highest risk for extreme preoperative anxiety. Material and methods: The study is a double blinded clinical trial that conducted in Ain Sham University on 90 children for pulpotomy in the period from august 2015 to may 2017 after approval of the ethical committee and informed written consent from the guardians. The patients were divided randomly into two groups. Fifteen min. before the procedure, In group O, midazolam/paracetamol at a dose of 0.5 and 15 mg/kg respectively was given orally. In group N, midazolam/Ketamine 0.5 mg/kg and 10 mg/kg sprayed nasally. Ramsay sedation scale, child separation, mask acceptance, Aldrete’s scoring system, postanesthetic discharge criteria and parent satisfaction scores were recorded. Results: group N showed more smooth parenteral separation [88.9 vs 8.9%] and better tolerance to the face mask “scale 1” [73.3% vs 22.2%] meanwhile the PACU discharge [88.9% vs 66.7%] and the hospital discharge [77.8% vs 46.7%] were earlier in group O with a higher satisfaction score [77.7% vs 22.2%]. Conclusion: The combination of midazolam/paracetamol is orally comparable to the combination of midazolam/ket-amine nasally;however “midazolam/paracetamol” achieves a higher parents satisfaction and earlier postoperative discharge.

A High Dynamic Range GMI Current Sensor

The design and performances of a high dynamic range DC-AC current sensor utilizing Giant Magneto-Impedance (GMI) are presented. The sensor is based on a GMI element with negative feedback. The sensing element is a 30 μm diameter GMI Co-based amorphous wire. It is curled to a toroidal core of 2 cm diameter. A bias magnetic field of about 650 A/m is applied to the GMI element to obtain an asymmetric GMI effect. A strong negative feedback is introduced to ensure linearity in a wide dynamic range. Analog conditioning electronics was fully developed. This includes a square wave oscillator based on an inverter trigger;a peak detector and a high gain amplifier with zero adjust. The GMI element is driven at a 3 MHz frequency and 5 mA peak-to-peak current. The closed-loop operations are investigated and the performances of the sensor are presented. DC current measurements are performed. The sensor exhibits good sensitivity and very good linearity, free from hysteresis, in a wide dynamic range of ±40 A. The sensitivity is about 0.24 V/A and the linearity error is about 0.02% of the full scale (FS). The hysteresis error is smaller than the measurement accuracy. AC current measurements using the developed sensor have also been successfully achieved. The sensor bandwidth in closed-loop was about 1.7 kHz.

Cytotoxic effect of Chitosan Based Nanocomposite Synthesized by Radiation： In Vitro Liver and Breast Cancer Cell Line

A silver nanoparticle (AgNP) is likely to provide an attractive object for combining a variety of biochemical properties with great therapeutic potential by using radiation. The present study explores the IC 50 value of chitosan-poly (vinyl alcohol) hydrogel (Cs/PVA) and Ag-doped chitosan-poly (vinyl alcohol) (Cs/PVA/Ag) nanocomposite in view of their anticancer application. The aim was to develop (Cs/PVA) based hydrogel synthesized by gamma radiation which could behave both as a nanoreactor for Ag nanoparticle with promising anticancer applications. The (Cs/PVA/Ag) nanocomposite was confirmed by FTIR (Fourier transform infrared) spectroscopy, XRD (X-ray diffraction) and eDX (energy dispersive X-ray) analysis. The anti-cancer activity of the prepared nanocomposites was demonstrated in human liver cancer cell line (HePG2) and breast cancer cell lines (MCF7). It has significant effects against human liver cancer cell line HePG2 compared to breast cancer cell line MCF7. Further quantitative analysis on the molecular and protein levels is still required to confirm the impact of chitosan on genotoxic effect before reaching a final conclusion and starting its biomedical application.
