Two-year clinical outcome of denosumab treatment alone and in combination with teriparatide in Japanese treatment-naive postmenopausal osteoporotic women

This randomized prospective study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcome of denosumab treatment alone and in combination with teriparatide in treatment-naive postmenopausal Japanese female patients with osteoporosis. Thirty patients were randomly assigned to two groups:(1) denosumab group(denosumab alone, n=13); and(2) combination group(denosumab+teriparatide, n=17). Serum bone-specific alkaline phosphatase(BAP), serum tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase(TRACP)-5b, urinary cross-linked N-terminal telopeptides of type I collagen(NTX), and bone mineral density(BMD) of L1–4 lumbar vertebrae(L-BMD)and bilateral total hips(H-BMD) were determined at the first visit and at various time points up to 24 months post-treatment to determine percentage changes. Serum TRACP-5b and urinary NTX were equally suppressed in both groups and maintained at low levels, with slight increases at 12, 18 and 24 months. BAP was significantly decreased in both groups from 4 to 24 months, with significant differences between the groups at 4, 8 and 15 months(P<0.05). L-BMD was significantly increased at most time points in both groups, with a significant difference between the combination group and denosumab group at 24 months(17.2% increase versus 9.6% increase; P<0.05). There was no significant difference in H-BMD between the two groups, although the levels tended to be higher in the combination group than in the denosumab group(9.5% increase versus 5.6% increase). These findings suggest that denosumab+teriparatide combination therapy may represent an important treatment for primary osteoporotic patients at high risk of vertebral fracture.

Selectively converting CO and H2 to gasoline product （isoparaffin and olefin） in one step still remains a great challenge. We demonstrate effective H-USY zeolite supported nano-cobalt bifunctional catalysts for this catalytic reaction, which are prepared by the novel physical sputtering process. Particles of the sputtered cobalt exist in nano-level and are well-dispersed on acid USY zeolite. Easy activation of the loaded nano-cobalt is also achieved in a low-temperature hydrogen reduction atmosphere. In the tandem catalytic reaction, the sputtered bifunctional Co/USY catalyst exhibits a much higher CO conversion and higher isoparaffin selectiv- ity than the conventional impregnated one. Compared with H-Mor, H-Beta and other zeolites supported catalysts, H-USY zeolite supported cobalt catalyst shows the clearest promotional effect on the activity of FischerTropsch synthesis. The described synthesis herein provides a new pathway to solve the problem caused by the strong metal-support interaction （MSI） in heterogeneous catalysis.

Biwa salmon,Oncorhynchus masou rhodurus,is endemic to Lake Biwa,and is considered one of the tastiest fishes among salmonids.However,aquaculture of this species is still in its infancy.Thus,we conducted the present study to develop eco-friendly feed for Biwa salmon aquaculture.Biwa salmon(1.5 year-old,Samegai strain,initial mean body wt.277g) were reared in FRP tanks(1mt ton) and also in concrete ponds for 3 months.Fish were fed either LP feed(low-phosphorus (P),fish meal-free diet;total P 0.73%,CP 39%,fat 16%) or control feed(commercial feed for Masu salmon;total P 1.61%,CP 45%,fat 6%) once daily to apparent satiation. Availability of dietary P was determined in vivo in separate trials.Both groups of fish showed comparable feed consumption on an energy basis;however,toward the end of feeding duration feed intake decreased due to sexual maturation.Final mean body wt was 370g and 392g for LP and control groups,respectively(p>0.05).Both groups of fish showed similar feed efficiency (48-61%).Carcass P content was similar for both groups of fish,and was within a normal range. Fat content of fish fillets was 8.9%(LP) and 7.6%(control)(p0.05).The mRNA expression of phosphate-transporter(NaPi2b) in the colon was higher in control than LP fish (p0.05).Effluent P concentration was 10.7-18.2ppb in LP tanks,and 23.8-35.9ppb in control tanks(p<0.05).However,using a stagnant water system,net P excretion over 6 hours became Oppb in LP and 118.3ppb in control tanks (p<0.01).Apparent availability of dietary P was 50.8%(LP) and 28.8%(control).Estimated P excretion per kg of feed consumed was 3.5g(LP) a

In recent years, environmental problems are becoming serious and renewable energy has attracted attention as their solutions. However, the electricity generation using the renewable energy has a demerit that the output becomes unstable because of intermittent characteristics, such as variations of wind speed or solar radiation intensity. Frequency fluctuations due to the installation of large scale wind farm (WF) and photovoltaics (PV) into the power system is a major concern. In order to solve the problem, this paper proposes two control methods using High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) interconnection line to suppress the frequency fluctuations due to large scale of WF and PV. Comparative analysis between these two control methods is presented in this paper. One proposed method is a frequency control using a notch filter, and the other is using a deadband. Validity of the proposed methods is verified through simulation analyses, which is performed on a multi-machine power system model.

We have established a new record conversion efficiency of 21.5% for HIT solar cell (Voc: 712mV, Jsc: 38.26mA/cm2, FF: 0.787, 100.3cm2, measured at AIST). Also worthy of special mentions are the very high fill factor (FF) of 0.802 and the very high open circuit voltage (Voc) of over 725mV for other efficient solar cells. Additional practical advantage of the HIT cells is the relatively small temperature coefficients, which is another practical advantage of the HIT cell. The insight of the small temperature coefficients is also discussed by comparing other solar cells.

机械式自动变速器（AMT）系统具有低成本和低油耗的优点。根据驾驶人员的操作和车辆行驶情况，AMT系统通过三个安装在传统手动变速器上的独立操作的执行机构实现自动换档。为了达到缩小整体尺寸、减轻重量并降低成本的目的，选用一个通过直流电机驱动的直接执行机构。为了提高整车的驾驶性能，并在环境温度和电压改变以及长时间使用后老化的情况下确保其鲁棒性，本开发目的在于提高电机控制的位置控制精度。为了实现此目的，应对执行机构的结构进行优化，并在AMT系统内整合一个具有极佳响应特性和鲁棒稳定性的干扰观测器。因此，开发出的AMT系统具有高效可靠的特性并将通过模拟和实验结果投入应用领域。

Objective To investigate the prevalence of cedar pollinosis in China, and compare Cryptomeria fortunei(Cf) with Cryptomeria japonica (Cj) morphologically. Methods\ An epidemiological survey on nasal allergy was carried out among 1 660 primary and middle school students and 1 620 university students, including questionnaire investigation, nasal inspection by the same doctor and scratch test with the allergen extract of Cj. The pollen of Cf and Cj were observed by optical and electron microscope. The genes of chloroplast of them were analysed. Results ①The total positive rate of cedar pollen scratch test was 4.2%. 55 cases of nasal allergy were confirmed according to the criteria of diagnosis, in which 8 cases showed positive reaction to Cj and only 1 case was hypersentive to it. ②No significant distinction between Cf and Cj was found by optical and electron microscope and no difference in gene analysis was found. Conclusion\ ①Cedar pollinosis does exist in China. It′s low prevbalence is related to the low quantity of cedar pollen.②Cf and Cj are of the same family and genus. ③There may be an increasing tendency of cedar pollinosis in China.\;
