Malaria was tho.ght to.be rare in neo.ates. Ho.ever, recent stud.es repo.t increasing prevalence in neo.ates. Clinical features o. neo.atal malaria have also.no. been ad.quately repo.ted. This stud. was und.rtaken to.assess the prevalence, clinical features and.o.tco.e o. malaria in neo.ates ad.itted.into.two.tertiary ho.pitals in Jo., Plateau State. All co.secutive neo.ates aged.0 - 28 d.ys ad.itted.into.the neo.atal units o. Jo. University Teaching Ho.pital and.Bingham University Teaching Ho.pital, Jo. were recruited.into.the stud.. Giemsa stained.blo.d.films o. the neo.ates were examined.by trained.micro.co.ists. Neo.ates with malaria had.presenting clinical features reco.d.d.and.treated.with amo.iaquine (1st line) and.quinine (2nd.line). Clinical features and.parasitaemia were mo.ito.ed.fo. 14 d.ys fo. o.tco.e. o. the 301 neo.ates enro.led. 16 had.malaria parasitaemia giving a prevalence o. 5.3%. Co.genital malaria acco.nted.fo. 87.5% o. cases o. neo.atal malaria. Plasmo.ium falciparum mo.o.infectio. was respo.sible fo. all the cases o. malaria. ITN use in pregnancy o.fered.so.e pro.ectio. against neo.atal malaria (CI=0.2 - 0.7). The med.an parasite d.nsity was 255 (72, 385) parasites/μl. Fever was significantly present in 10 (66.7%) o. the cases (p=0.03). Fifteen o. the 16 neo.ates had.clinical and.parasito.o.ical cure o. treatment with amo.iaquine. o.e treatment failure had.cure after retreatment with quinine. There was no.mo.tality in all 16 neo.ates treated.fo. malaria. Malaria is no. rare in neo.ates o. ad.issio. in Jo.. Fever is the co.mo.est clinical feature o. neo.atal malaria. Amo.iaquine pro.id.d.effective treatment o. malaria in neo.ates in Jo..

Labo.ato.y stud. o. three riverbed.so.l samples d.no.ed.as A, B and.C have been carried.o.t by d.termining the so.ls Po.o.ity, Hyd.aulic co.d.ctivity, Permeability and.also.investigating if there are po.nts o. co.vergence between the d.scharge rate and.angle o. tilt fo. the abo.e mentio.ed.samples. The experimental results fo. Po.o.ity were appro.imately within 34% - 37%, Hyd.aulic co.d.ctivity was within 3.02 × 10-5 - 9.70 × 10-5 (m/s) and.Permeability was within 2.74 × 10-12 - 8.80 × 10-12 (m2). Pressure generally increases as d.stance o. flo. increases fo. θ = 5° - 25° but there was d.crease in pressure as d.stance o. flo. increases fo. all three samples when θ = 0°. The po.nts o. co.vergence fo. the d.scharge rate ranged.fro. 0.001 × 10-10 - 4.54 × 10-10 (m3/s), while the angle o. tilt co.vergence po.nts ranged.fro. 0.1° to.3.6°. There was increase in d.scharge rate as angle o. tilt increases fo. all three samples.

动物肠道菌群是一个复杂的生态群落,在许多研究领域中得到了广泛探讨和认识。由于肠道菌群参与了生物体的生长和发育过程,研究鸡肠道菌群的特征显的非常重要。目前肠道菌群在成年鸡和哺乳动物中被广泛研究,然而关于鸡胚肠道菌群的特征和其在鸡胚胎发育过程中的动态变化仍知之甚少。本研究中,我们采用16S rRNA基因测序技术,检测和分析了鸡胚在发育3天（E3）、12天（E12）和19天（E19）肠道微生物群的组成和分布,主要结果如下:（1）我们在鸡胚中共检出了21个门水平和601属水平的微生物,其中优势的门和属分别为Pro.eo.acteria门（65.6%）和o.hro.actrum属（23.0%）。另外,在三个发育阶段中,我们共鉴定了96个核心菌属,其中包含o.hro.actrum、Phylo.acterium、Amyco.ato.sis、Fluviico.a、Prevo.ella和Pseud.0}o.as等。该部分的结果表明鸡胚中确实存在组成和丰度不同的微生物区系。（2）在E3和E12中,94个属微生物的相对丰度发生了显著变化（P＜0.05）。143属微生物在E12和E19的鸡胚肠道发育中相对丰度呈现显著差异（P＜0.05）。随着鸡胚的生长,o.hro.actrum属和Amyco.ato.sis属的相对丰度逐渐降低,与之相反的是,Phyllo.acterium属在E18中呈现高丰度。此外,主成分分析（PCA）结果显示,与E19相比,E3和E12的胚胎肠道菌群相近,有较高水平的相似性。Alpha多样性分析结果显示,在E19中肠道微生物群的多样性较高。值得注意的是,在E3和E12中发现很多在鸡胚生长和发育中起到重要作用的肠道微生物。这些结果表明鸡胚肠道微生物群随不同的发育阶段发生了显著的动态变化。（3）微生物功能预测显示,遗传信息处理（翻译）、辅助因子和维生素代谢、碳水化合物代谢、膜转运和能量代谢通路在E3和E12中显著差异富集（P＜0.05）。而在E12和E19中,遗传信息处理、氨基酸代谢、复制、翻译、外源性物质降解和代谢等通路发生显著差异（P＜0.05）.该部分结果表明了肠道微生物可能对鸡胚生长、发育和免疫有一定的影响。（4）三个品种间:北京油鸡（Y）、石岐杂鸡（S）和巴布考克鸡（无特异性病原菌鸡,SPF）（B）的Chao.指数、Simpso.指数、Shanno.指数和ACE指数没有显著差异。根据非度量多维标度（NMd.）加权分析的β多样性分析也显示所有样本聚集在一起。这些结果表明,三个品种)鸡胚肠道微生物区系具有较高的相似性。综上所述,本研究证实了鸡胚中不仅存在微生物区系,而且随着鸡胚的生长和发育其肠道微生物区系的组成和丰度也发生着动态变化。这些结果暗示着肠道微生物区系同鸡胚的生长发育有重要关联,为鸡胚胎发育和其肠道微生物研究提供了全新的视角及其重要参考。

An assessment o. the existing M&E system was co.d.cted.to.verify whether the system has the capacities to.pro.id. essential d.ta fo. mo.ito.ing the epid.mic and.id.ntifying critical pro.ramming gaps. Nigeria’s Natio.al Agency fo. the Co.tro. o. AId. (NACA) used.an o.ganizing framewo.k fo. a natio.al HIV M&E system d.velo.ed.by UNAId., to.assess the strengths and.weaknesses o. the NNRIMS to.generate d.ta fo. evid.nce-based.d.cisio.making. The participato.y appro.ch used.d.ring an assessment wo.ksho. ensured.that the pro.ess was co.ntry-led.and.-o.ned.to.build.co.sensus and.lo.al capacity, and.that it enco.raged.ad.0}tio. o. a single natio.al-level multisecto.al HIV M&E system. The assessment fo.nd.an o.erable M&E system at the natio.al level but a much weaker system at the state and.lo.al levels and.acro.s seven o.her secto.s. There are multiple d.ta co.lectio. and.repo.ting to.ls at the facility level that lead.to.vertical repo.ting systems, which increases the burd.n o. repo.ting at lo.er levels, especially by service pro.id.rs. Human reso.rces are being d.velo.ed. but pro.lems remain with the quantity and.quality o. staff. d.ta use, tho.gh evid.nt at the natio.al level, is still very weak amo.g five o. the seven secto.s assessed.
