The improvement of microbial characterization has increased the comprehension of microbial population and their ability in the microbiological metal dissolution. Bioleaching processes have been expanded to use microorganisms for the recovery of metals from ores and wastes. This study introduces Palca mine tailings pond in Peru which turned into acid mine drainage (AMD). AMD is a source of microbial communities whose microorganisms may support the aqueous extractive metallurgy for metal recovery. Four samples of AMD were collected from different locations and the elemental characterization showed concentrations of metals, such as Cu, Zn, Al, Mn, and Fe. The pH of the samples showed variation between 1.9 - 6.8. Twenty-one microorganisms were isolated and selected according the cell morphology. 16s rRNA gene sequences identified five species of which three belong to the bacterial kingdom and two to the Fungi kingdom. Two of the bacterial species were ferrous ion oxidizing bacteria, identified as Acidithiobacillus ferriphilus and Acidithiobacillus ferridurans;and the other one a ferric ion reducing bacteria identified as Acidiphilium acidophilum. The fungi species identified were Rhodotorula sinensis and Exophiala xenobiotica, a filamentous fungus isolated for the first time from an AMD.

Increased uptake of intermittent preventive treatment for malaria in pregnant women in Zambia(2006–2012):Potential determinants and highlight of lessons learnt

Objective:To assess potential determinants of uptake and highlight lessons learnt from the implementation of intermittent preventive treatment(IPTp), given to pregnant women as early as possible during the second trimester in ***: Data from four national malaria surveys(2006, 2008, 2010, 2012) were reviewed, and proportions of pregnant women attending antenatal clinics(ANCs) who received two or more doses of sulfadoxine–pyrimethamine(IPTp2) were compared by place of residence, education level, and wealth status. Malaria cases and deaths in pregnant women, from Health Information Management System 2011–2013, were analyzed to determine malaria burden in pregnancy in Zambia. A multiple logistic regression model was applied to identify potential determinants of IPTp ***: The proportion of pregnant women who took IPTp at ANCs increased from near zero at inception in 2001 to 61.9% in 2006; and to 72% by 2012(P < 0.001), and overall the uptake was 1.41 times higher in 2012 compared to 2006. From 2006 to 2012,IPTp2 uptake among women with no formal education increased from 51% to 68%(P < 0.1). Likewise, uptake among pregnant women with the lowest wealth index increased from 58.2% to 61.2%. By 2012, IPTp uptake among pregnant women within the lowest wealth index increased to a similar level as the women with high wealth index(P = 0.05). Incidence of malaria cases, hospital admissions and mortality during pregnancy decreased between 2011 and 2013. Overall, increased IPTp uptake was associated with being in urban areas(OR = 1.56, 95% CI: 1.39–1.74), having college(OR = 1.83,95% CI: 1.25–2.75) or secondary education(OR = 1.68, 95% CI: 1.44–1.96) or of being of higher wealth status(OR = 1.86, 95% CI: 1.60–2.17).Conclusions: Zambia has increased IPTp uptake through ANC for all women. The malaria control program has contributed to increasing access to health services and reducing demographic and socioeconomic disparities.

在过去的几十年里,随着微纳尺度加工技术的进步,微型电子设备吸引了研究人员的广泛关注。然而,散热一直都是阻碍热沉性能进一步提高所面临的主要问题。因此,许多研究者们投入强化对流换热的研究中,以此提高微通道热沉性能。为了改善流体流动和换热,人们设计了各种形式的微通道结构,通过不同方面和不同角度,对双层微通道,带有固体鳍片的微通道,带有多孔鳍片的微通道,带有波浪形鳍片或多孔鳍片的微通道进行了设计研究。本文设计了多种单层微通道热沉,包括多孔肋、平行波状肋和对称波状肋。采用商业软件CFDANSYS系统地研究不同结构微通道热沉的流动和换热性能。在不同的进口速度下,本文研究了多孔肋对于不同结构的影响。此外,还研究了肋片不同的开孔宽度对微通道热沉性能的影响。研究表明,多孔肋渗透率的增加有利于改善通道流动和换热性能。在高泵功区域,相比于多孔肋,实心肋使得通道产生了更大的热阻。最终,多孔肋微通道获得比实心肋微通道更好的综合性能。在同泵功条件下,多孔肋微通道具有更好的热效率。随着高度集成和小型电子技术的发展,为防止设备过热,同时保持稳定可靠的工作性能,电子设备的热管理至关重要。因此,优化微通道热沉设计,改善其换热性能至关重要。

Aim The concept of post-activation potentiation(PAP)is still novel from a training perspective and lacks breadth relative to weightlifting *** The purpose of this study was to investigate the acute effects of a conditioning activity(clean high pulls)on the performance of a main activity(clean)after the conditioning *** Eleven volunteers who engaged in weightlifting(Male=5,Female=6)participated in two different testing ses-sions(experimental ***).Baseline measurements were taken following the *** testing condition was performed and additional measurements were taken at 30 s,2 min,4 min,6 min,8 min,10 min,and 12 min into recovery.A linear position transducer was used to collect peak power,peak velocity,and displacement of the barbell during the *** 2×8 repeated measures ANOVAs were used to analyze the data along with a paired samples t test between baseline and"best"*** There was no interaction or main effect for condition(P>0.05).However,there was a significant main effect for time(P<0.05)for all ***"best"values were significantly(P<0.05)greater than baseline values(peak power:experimental=1354.76 ±521.24 W *** 1216.03 ±492.30 W;peak velocity:experimental=2.66 ±0.44 m/s *** 2.50 ±0.44 m/s;displacement:experimental=111.07 ± 12.09 cm *** 107.01 ± 11.32 cm).Conclusions The findings of this study are in partial agreement with previous literature where the warm-up was probably enough to elicit ***,recommendations for future studies could include utilizing a more elite population and to ensure all potential participants can squat at least 2 x their body weight.
