Utilizing lightweight Al alloys in various industrial applications requires achieving precise pressure tightness and leak *** pressure impregnation(VPI)with thermosetting polymers is commonly used to address leakage defects in die-cast Al *** this study,the efficacy of the VPI technique in sealing alloy parts was investigated using a combination of nondestructive micro X-ray computed tomography(micro XCT)and a standard leak *** results demonstrate that the commonly used water leak test is insufficient for determining the sealing ***,micro XCT shows distinct advantages by enabling more comprehensive *** reveals the presence of a low atomic number impregnates sealant within casting defects,which has low grey contrast and allows for visualizing primary leakage paths in *** effective atomic number of impregnated resin is 6.75 and that of Al alloy is 13.69 by dual-energy X-ray *** research findings will contribute to enhancing the standard VPI process parameters and the properties of impregnating sealants to improve quality assurance for impregnation in industrial metals.

BACKGROUND Intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile duct(IPNB)rarely recurs in a multicentric *** encountered a patient with multiple recurrences of the gastric subtype of IPNB one year after spontaneous detachment of the primary tumor during peroral cholangioscopy(POCS).CASE SUMMARY A 68-year-old woman on maintenance hemodialysis because of lupus nephritis had several cardiovascular diseases and a pancreatic intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm(IPMN).She was referred to our department for dilation of the common bile duct(CBD)and a tumor in the lumen,detected using *** had no complaints,and blood tests of hepatobiliary enzymes were *** resonance cholangiopancreatography(MRCP)showed a papillary tumor in the CBD with a filling defect detected using endoscopic retrograde cholangiography(ERC).Intraductal ultrasonography revealed a papillary tumor and stalk at the *** POCS,the tumor spontaneously detached with its stalk into the *** showed low-intermediate nuclear atypia of the gastric subtype of *** 1 year,follow-up MRCP showed multiple tumors distributed from the left hepatic duct to the *** and POCS showed multicentric *** was alive without hepatobiliary symptoms at least two years after initial diagnosis of *** The patient experienced gastric subtype of IPNB without curative *** may be reasonable for patients with this subtype.

During the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic,the Japanese government implemented several infection control measures,such as states of emergency(SoE)and school closures,and encouraged universal masking and hand *** activity restrictions and improved hygiene were found to be associated with declines in the incidence of infuenza during the 2019–2020 winter season[1].Prior studies have found that the incidence of seven pediatric infections,such as pharyngoconjunctivitis and varicella,decreased during and after the school closures in Japan[2].As activity restrictions continue to be lifted,there is growing concern that pediatric infections may suddenly return given that the pool of susceptible children increased during the pandemic[3].In this study,we use national infectious disease sentinel data from January 2012 to October 2021 to assess changes in the reported number of pediatric infections in Japan during the COVID-19 *** hypothesize that the reporting of many infectious diseases decreased during the early stages of the pandemic but ultimately returned to normal when activity restrictions were lifted.

We predict the production yield of a medical radioisotope^(67)Cu using^(67)Zn(n,p)^(67)Cu and ^(68)Zn(n,pn)^(67)Cu reactions with fast neutrons provided from laser-driven neutron *** neutrons were generated by the p+9Be and d+9Be reactions with high-energy ions accelerated by laser–plasma *** evaluated the yield to be(3.3±0.5)×10^(5) atoms for^(67)Cu,corresponding to a radioactivity of 1.0±0.2 Bq,for a Zn foil sample with a single laser *** a simulation with this result,we estimated^(67)Cu production with a high-frequency *** result suggests that it is possible to generate^(67)Cu with a radioactivity of 270 MBq using a future laser system with a frequency of 10 Hz and 10,000-s radiation in a hospital.

An iliopsoas hematoma can occur either spontaneously or secondary to trauma or bleeding tendency due to hemophilia and anticoagulant *** liver cirrhosis is commonly associated with coagulopathy, iliopsoas hematoma is very *** herein,present a case of bilateral iliopsoas hematoma in a patient with alcoholic cirrhosis,and review the literature on muscle hematoma associated with cirrhosis.A 56-year-old man with alcoholic cirrhosis was admitted in a state of shock with *** cause of anemia could not be detected,and the patient was treated conservatively. Infants with congenital deafness caused by severe bilateral inner ear malformations frequently suffer from severe hearing loss and poor balance. Unfortunately, the use of hearing aids is usually ineffective in recovering hearing, necessitating cochlear implants. We report a case of a 6-year-old boy with congenital deafness and bilateral inner ear malformations(right side, incomplete partition type I [IP-I]; left side, common cavity deformity). Hearing aids had a remarkable effect in this patient, enabling sufficient and favorable hearing recovery such as to allow the patient to engage in daily conversations. Per-rotatory nystagmus was recorded on an electronystagmogram for both right and left rotations in a damped rotational chair test. It is rare for deaf children with severe bilateral inner ear malformation to demonstrate favorable development in hearing and good equilibrium function. Our findings suggest that auditoryevestibular hair cells in this patient may have been partially preserved despite IP-I in the right ear and common cavity deformity of the left ear.

Resorcinol/formaldehyde(RF)foam resin is an attractive material as a low-density target in high-power laser–plasma experiments because of its fine network structure,transparency in the visible region,and low-Z element(hydrogen,carbon,and oxygen)*** this study,we developed disk-shaped RF foam and deuterated RF foam targets with 40–200μm thickness and approximately 100 mg/cm^(3) density having a network structure from 100 nm to a few micrometers cell *** deuteration,the polymerization rate was drastically slowed down owing to kinetic isotope *** targets were used in high-power laser experiments where a megaelectronvolt proton beam was successfully generated.
