An experiment was conducted to test the efficacy of a mechanical barrier around the tree trunk with one spray of Cypermethrin @ 1 ml/l and turmeric powder extract @ 15 g/500ml of water applied in integrated approaches against mango mealybug on mango tree. There were 7 treatments including a control. The treatments were mechanical barrier, Cypermethrin spray @ 1 ml/l, Turmeric powder spray @ 15 g/500ml of water, Cypermethrin spray + Turmeric spray, Cypermethrin spray + mechanical barrier, Turmeric + mechanical barrier and untreated control. Three-year-old mango plants grafted from a 5-year-old mango tree (Variety Amropali) and planted in pots were used in the experiment. The treatment, Cypermethrin spray + mechanical barrier gave the highest reduction of mango mealybug population 87.06% to 93.90% followed by Turmeric spray + mechanical barrier and showed 81.13% to 86.04% and mechanical barrier alone showed 81.13% to 84.59% population reduction. Turmeric powder extract showed only (8.42% to 23.77%) population reduction of mango mealybug which was lowest compared to other treatments.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to describe pregnant patients with mitral stenosis who had intracardiac thrombosis in the absence of atrial fibrillation. Study design: we reviewed the clinical course of 3 pregnant women with severe mitral stenosis and normal sinus rhythm.w.o had clinically significant intracardiac thrombosis. Results: The first patient was examined at 21 weeks of gestation with embolic stroke that was the result of left atrial thrombus. A second patient was found to have a large left atrial thrombus that prevented the performance of balloon valvuloplasty. The third patient had left atrial clot that partially occluded the mitral valve orifice and led to the development of pulmonary edema that resulted in an emergent cesarean delivery and anoxic brain injury in the newborn infant. Conclusion: Pregnant patients with mitral stenosis in normal sinus rhythm can experience thromboembolic events that can be detrimental to both the mother and the fetus. Anticoagulation therefore should be strongly considered in this group.

In the northern Bay of Bengal,the existence of intense temperature inversion during winter is a widely accepted ***,occurrences of temperature inversion during other seasons and the spatial distribution within and adjacent to the Bay of Bengal are not well *** this study,a higher resolution spatiotemporal variation of temperature inversion and its mechanisms are examined with mixed layer heat and salt budget analysis utilizing long-term Argo(2004 to 2020)and RAmA(2007 to 2020)profiles data in the Bay of Bengal and eastern equatorial Indian Ocean(EEIO).Temperature inversion exists(17.5%of the total 39293 Argo and 51.6%of the 28894 RAmA profiles)throughout the year in the entire study *** shows strong seasonal variation,with the highest occurrences in winter and the lowest in *** winter inversion in the northern Bay of Bengal,two other regions with frequent temperature inversion are identified in this study for the first time:the northeastern part of the Bay of Bengal and the eastern part of the EEIO during summer and *** processes of temperature inversion for different subregions are revealed in the current *** of heat(mean~25 w/m;)below the haline-stratified shallow mixed layer leads to a relatively warmer subsurface layer along with the simultaneous cooling tendency in mixed layer,which controls more occurrence of temperature inversion in the northern Bay of Bengal throughout the *** lower cooling tendency due to net surface heat loss and higher mixed layer salinity leaves the southern part of the bay less supportive to the formation of temperature inversion than the northern *** the EEIO,slightly cooling tendency in the mixed layer along with the subduction of warm-salty Arabian Sea water beneath the cold-fresher Bay of Bengal water,and downwelling of thermocline creates a favorable environment for forming temperature inversion mainly during summer and *** isothermal layer

Variations in incoming shortwave radiation influence the net surface heat flux,contributing to the formation of a temperature *** effects of shortwave radiation on the temperature inversions in the Bay of Bengal and eastern equatorial Indian Ocean have never been ***,a high-resolution(horizontal resolution of 0.07°×0.07° with 50 vertical layers) Regional Ocean modeling System(ROmS) model is utilized to quantify the contributions of shortwave radiation to the temperature inversions in the study *** of the mixed layer heat and salt budgets are performed,and different model simulations are *** model results suggest that a 30% change in shortwave radiation can change approximately 3% of the temperature inversion area in the Bay of *** shortwave radiation reduces the net surface heat flux and cools the mixed layer substantially;it also reduces the evaporation rate,causing less evaporative water vapor losses from the ocean than the typical situation,and ultimately enhances haline ***,the rudimentary outcome of this research is that a decrease in shortwave radiation produces more temperature inversion in the study region,which is primarily driven by the net surface cooling and supported by the intensive haline ***,low shortwave radiation eventually intensifies the temperature inversion layer by thickening the barrier *** study could be an important reference for predicting how the Indian Ocean climate will respond to future changes in shortwave radiation.

Cylindrical and spherical (nonplanar) solitary waves (Sws) and double layers (DLs) in a multi-ion plasma system (containing inertial positively as well as negatively charged ions, non-inertial degenerate electrons, and negatively charged static dust) are studied by employing the standard reductive perturbation method. The modified Gardner (mG) equation describing the nonlinear propagation of the dust ion-acoustic (DIA) waves is derived, and its nonplanar Sws and DLs solutions are numerically analyzed. The parametric regimes for the existence of Sws, which are associated with both positive and negative potential, and DLs which are associated with negative potential, are obtained. The basic features of nonplanar DIA Sws, and DLs, which are found to be different from planar ones, are also identified.

Designing and synthesis of cost effective bulk metallic glasses （BmGs） has been of considerable interest during the last decade so that they can be made commercially viable. Among these, Zr-based BmGs have been reported extensively due to their attractive properties, An alloy having composition Zr65Cu18Ni9A18 was designed and synthesized using 2-3 N pure materials by Cu mould casting. The alloy was characterized by X- ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscopy （SEm）, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （EDS） and high temperature differential scanning calorimetry （DSC）. Thermal parameters like supercooled liquid region △Tx, reduced glass transition temperature Trg, γ and δ parameters were evaluated. mechanical properties like microhardness, nanohardness, elastic modulus and fracture strength were measured. The alloy showed wide supercooled liquid region of 129＋1 K with improved thermal stability. The alloy has considerable fracture strength along with fair amount of ductility.

An experiment was conducted in mango orchard of Sher-E Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) campus, Dhaka to determine the effect of seasonal variation round the year and weather on population dynamics of mango mealybug (Drosicha mangiferae) on mango tree. The mango mealybug was first appeared in early December and disappeared in June in a year. Its population started to increase gradually from December and continued up to February when the ambient average temperature was 20.95°C, relative humidity 63% and rainfall was absent. The highest population of the insect (33.33/30 cm branch) was recorded in February and the lowest (3.75/30cm branch) in may. Adult insects appeared in February on the ground under the selected mango tree showing the population of 6.67 males and 123.33 females per 81 m2. Population of males (32.5/81m2) and that of females (352.75/81m2) reached to the peak when the ambient temperature was 28.19°C, relative humidity 61% and the rainfall was 0.00 mm. when relative humidity was high and rainfall started adult females enter into the soil and disappeared. Correlation between population of mealybug and temperature was positive. Its population was negatively correlated with relative humidity and rainfall.

The analysis of naturally occurring radionuclides （226Ra, 232 Th and 40 K） and an anthropogenic radionuclide 13r Cs is carried out in some soil samples collected from Kohistan district of N.w.F.P. （Pakistan）, using gamma-ray spectrometry. The gamma spectrometry is operated using a high purity Germanium （HPGe） detector coupled with a computer based high resolution multi channel analyzer. The specific activity in soil ranges from 24.72 to ***-1 for 22TRa, 21.73 to ***- 1 for 232Th, 7.06 to *** 1 for 1arcs and 298.46 to ***-1 for 40K with the mean values of 42.11, 43.27, 9.5 and ***-1, respectively. The radium equivalent activity in all the soil samples is lower than the safe limit set in the OECD report （370 ***-1）. man-made radionuclide 13r Cs is also present in detectable amount in all sell samples. Presence of 13r Us indicates that the samples in this renlote area also recelvo some fallout from nuclear accident in Chernobyl power plant in 1986. The internal and external hazard indices have the mean values of 0.48 and 0.37 respectively. Absorbed dose rates and effective dose equivalents are also determined for the samples. The concentration of radionuclides found in the soil samples during the present study is nominal and does not pose any potential health hazard to the general public.

New Bi-metallic Single Source Precursors for the Deposition of Thin Films of Semiconductor Ceramics

Stable binary single source precursors （SSP） for the deposition of thin films of ceramic semiconductors of composition SnO·GeO were synthesized by close circuit chemical vapour deposition （CCCVD） method. Elemental analysis and spectroscopic techniques were used to characterize the precursors. Scanning electron microscopy （SEm） and energy dispersive spectroscopy （EDS） were employed to characterize the thin films. Resistivity measurements were conducted to show that the films are of semiconducting nature.
