In silico identification and characterization of common epitope-based peptide vaccine for Nipah and Hendra viruses

Objective: To explore a common B-and T-cell epitope-based vaccine that can elicit an immune response against encephalitis causing genus Henipaviruses, Hendra virus(He V) and Nipah virus(Ni V). Methods: Membrane proteins F, G and M of He V and Ni V were retrieved from the protein database and subjected to different bioinformatics tools to predict antigenic B-cell epitopes. Best B-cell epitopes were then analyzed to predict their T-cell antigenic potentiality. Antigenic B-and T-cell epitopes that shared maximum identity with He V and Ni V were selected. Stability of the selected epitopes was predicted. Finally, the selected epitopes were subjected to molecular docking simulation with HLA-DR to confirm their antigenic potentiality in silico. Results: One epitope from G proteins, one from M proteins and none from F proteins were selected based on their antigenic potentiality. The epitope from the G proteins was stable whereas that from M was unstable. The M-epitope was made stable by adding flanking dipeptides. The 15-mer G-epitope(VDPLRVQWRNNSVIS) showed at least 66% identity with all Ni V and He V G protein sequences, while the 15-mer M-epitope(GKLEFRRNNAIAFKG) with the dipeptide flanking residues showed 73% identity with all Ni V and He V M protein sequences available in the database. Molecular docking simulation with most frequent MHC class-II(MHC II) and class-I(MHC I) molecules showed that these epitopes could bind within HLA binding grooves to elicit an immune response. Conclusions: Data in our present study revealed the notion that the epitopes from G and M proteins might be the target for peptide-based subunit vaccine design against He V and Ni V. However, the biochemical analysis is necessary to experimentally validate the interaction of epitopes individually with the MHC molecules through elucidation of immunity induction.

The present study employed COHERENS model as a three-dimensional hydrodynamic model to address the coastal currents in the western Persian Gulf with a horizontal resolution of 2-minutes of latitude and *** obtained results suggested that Iranian northwestward coastal currents developed from January to April and experienced their maximum intensity from June to August when the rate of the surface inflow current increases through the Strait of Hormuz and the stability of the seasonal thermocline becomes gradually *** simulation results reflected that expansions of the thermocline area began by the arrival of the warm *** such circumstances,some stronger coastal currents were generated in *** strong coastal surface current in the vicinity of the western part of Iranian coasts flew southeastward,while the reverse current flew with a northwestern direction in the *** obtained results suggested that a consequence of the influence of salinity flux,especially on the Iranian coasts,the speed of currents *** findings of this study showed that more kinetic energy was accumulated along Iranian ***,the current vectors on Iranian coasts were greater than those on Arabian coasts,which in turn resulted in the creation of the upwelling currents along western Iranian coasts.

Microbiologic spectrum of acute and chronic dacryocystitis

AIM:To report the microbiological spectrum of acute and chronic ***:Retrospective study on 100 patients who presented to the ophthalmic plastic clinic of a tertiary eye care center from May 2011 and April 2013 with acute and chronic dacryocystitis was reviewed for demographic and microbiological profile. The culture results and organisms isolated were ***:Sixty patients had acute onset and the remaining 40 patients had chronic onset *** female to male ratio was 1.78. The mean age of patients was 44 y. Gram-positive organisms were the most commonly isolated accounting for 54%, and the commonest species isolated was S. aureus in 26%.Percentage of gram positive cultures was higher in chronic dacryocystitis than acute ones(82% vs 48% of positive cultures; P =0.003). Also in culture positive acute dacryocystitis, gram negative species were found in 52%of eyes but only in 18% of chronic ***:Gram negative bacteria, culture negative samples, unusual and more virulent organisms are more common in acute dacryocystitis than chronic ones. The results of this study have significant bearing on the treatment of patients with dacrocystitis.

Introduction:The brown planthopper(BPH),Nilaparvata lugens(Stål)(Hemiptera:Delphacidae),is a notorious insect pest of *** supplementation can alter plant biochemical compositions which may indirectly affect on ecological fitness parameters of its insect ***,few findings are available on nutrient-induced ecological fitness of BPH and relationship of BPH fitness parameters with its host rice plant biochemical ***:We studied the main and interaction effects of nitrogen(N),phosphorus(P),and potassium(K)inputs on BPH fitness,as measured by the following variables:nymph survival,nymphal duration,adult body weight,and its *** planthopper fitness parameters were regressed as function of rice plant(Oryza sativa)biochemical composition.A completely randomized design with four replications in a factorial scheme was used considering N,P,and K levels as ***:Nitrogen application to the host rice plants provided greater survival and enhanced body weight of *** nymphal duration was found to decrease with N subsidy that caused shorter generation time of *** compounds N and soluble protein(SP),total free sugar(TFS),and silicon(Si)content in rice plant tissue correlated strongly with all fitness traits of ***,SP,and TFS associated positively with BPH survival and body weight,while negatively with nymphal *** contrast,Si had negative correlation with BPH survival and body weight,but positive with nymphal *** supplementation to host plant contributed to increase BPH body *** of P with all parameters of BPH were weak except body weight which was highly significant and *** between N and P inputs demonstrated significant effect on BPH body *** of K had no significant effect on BPH survival and *** analysis did not detect significant relationship of BPH fitness parameters with plant tissue content of ***:The res

The electronic and optical characteristics of the Sc2 CoSi Heusler with L21 structure and also the surface effect on electronic and optical properties, and the ?lms thermodynamic stability of the [001] direction in four cases including:Sc-Sc, Sc-Co, Sc-Si and Co-Si terminations are studied using the ?rst principles calculations(FPLAPW) within the framework of the density functional theory(DFT). The band structure calculations represent the ferromagnetic halfmetallic properties with 100% spin polarization and 0.54 e V indirect gap in spin down for Sc2 CoSi bulk with optimized lattice parameters of 6.25 A?. The total magnetic moment obtained for this compound is-1.0 μB, which is in accordance with Slater-Pauling rule. The half-metallic(HM) behavior by 100% spin polarization at Fermi level is occurred in the Sc-Si termination with a 0.32 eV gap in down spin. The optical responses have been calculated for the bulk and ScSi termination by a red shift in these parameters and the metallic treatments have been increased. According to the thermodynamic phase diagrams, it is shown the Sc-Si and Sc-Sc terminations are more stable than other terminations.

Objective:To determine the hepatoprotective effect of acetone semicarbazone(ASC)in vivo in normal and Ehrlich ascites carcinoma(EAC)bearing male Swiss albino ***:Druginduced changes in biochemical and behavioral parameters at dose of 2.0 mg/kg body weight for14 d and nullifying the toxicity induced by EAC cells were *** histopathology studies of the protective effects of ASC on vital organs were also ***:The administration of ASC made insignificant changes in body weight and behavioral(salivation,diarrhea,muscular numbness)changes during treatment period due to minor toxicity were minimized after the treatment in normal *** biochemical parameters,including serum glutamate pyruvate transaminase,glutamate oxaloactate transaminase,alkaline phosphatase,serum glucose,cholesterol,urea,triglyceride and billirubin changed modestly in normal mice receiving *** the treatment continued,these values gradually decreased to normal level after the *** EAC bearing mice,the toxic effects due to EAC cells in all cases were nullified by treatment with the *** abnormalities were not detected in histology of the various organs of the normal mice treated with ***:ASC can,therefore,be considered safe in formulating novel anticancer drug,as it exhibits strong protective effect against EAC cell bearing mice.
