Introduction:In C?te d’Ivoire, despite awareness raising among mothers by health authorities and health care providers, the exclusive breastfeeding rate is still low, 23%. This rate seems even lower in rural areas. The objective of the study was to evaluate the knowledge, attitudes and practices of mothers regarding exclusive breastfeeding for the reduction of malnutrition in rural areasn>. Methods: This was a descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study conducted in Brobo from July to September 2020. It included consenting mothers of infants aged 0 to 24 months. Mothers’ knowledge, attitudes and practice were assessed by an anonymous structured questionnaire with a performance threshold set at 75%. Factors associated with exclusive breastfeeding were investigated by the Chi-square test at the 5% level of significance. n>Results: n style="font-family:Verdana;">The average age of the 183 mothers was 25 years (extremes 13 and 49 years). They were primigravida (33%) and had a low socioeconomic level (84%). The mothers knew the definition of exclusive breastfeeding (33%). They knew that breastfeeding promoted ideal infant growth (64%) and protected against diarrhea and infection (18%). They also knew that breastfeeding reduced the mother’s risk of cancer (16%) and strengthened the mother-infant bond (7%). The mothers interviewed stated that they had put the baby to the breast within the first hour after delivery in 2% and 63% of them gave the baby colostrum. Objective: Determine the etiologies and their impacts of hearing loss at the patients’ worn hearing aid in the international center of hearing correction in Abidjan (ICHC). Material and Method: The study is of transverse and analytical type realized in the ICHC from July 1999 to June 2010. It concerned the files of patients’ worn hearing aid in the center. The patients worn initially in another center but followed in the ICHC were excluded. Data were collected from medical files of patients and concerned etiologies, age, type, degree of hearing loss as well as the prosthetic gains and the satisfaction. Results: Fifteen etiologies were listed with in first three rows the meningitis (17.9%) the presbyacusis (17.5%) and chronic otitis media (12.1%). The degrees of hearing loss in the seven etiologies most frequent were severe and profound in 87.6% of cases to the right and 82.8% to the left. The prosthetic pure tonal gain was significant in case of sound trauma and sudden hearing loss. The prosthetic speech reception threshold gain was only significant in case of presbyacusis and sudden hearing loss. The satisfaction of hearing aids was significant in case of presbyacusis, sudden hearing loss and the sound trauma. Conclusion: The main clauses etiologies were the meningitis and the presbyacusis. The tonal and speech prosthetic gain were significant in case of sudden hearing loss.

Introduction: Africans ensure their offspring by transmitting their own genes. Even if adoption is a common thing in Africa, the biological kinship keeps its supremacy. The following study tries to identify socio-cultural factors that may influence the couples’ attitude towards the gametes donation. Methods: All female patients consulting for a childbearing desire and with an indication of an assisted reproductive technique with a third donor, were included in this longitudinal retrospective and prospective study at the teaching hospital of Yopougon and in a private clinic from 1st September 2014 to 31 October 2015. 100 couples were included. Chi square test was used for statistics data. The following factors were analyzed: age, sex, religion, profession, anterior procreation, existence of a common child, infertility duration. Results: Only the age had a significant link with the egg donation refusal rate. Conclusion: This work makes it possible to foresee that Africans have the same conception of procreation because one finds this desire of childbearing in all the layers of the society.

Uterine leiomyosarcoma (LMS) is a rare uterine malignancy that represents approximately 1% of uterine cancers. The nonspecific symptoms cause difficulties in the diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic. We report an unusual progressive form, with a uterine inversion of LMS fundal externalized out of the vulva in a patient of 48 years old premenopausal.

Acceptability of Gametes Donation in Cote d’Ivoire

Introduction: The need for childbearing is greater in Sub-Saharan countries for socio-cultural reasons. In fact, it is correlated to the need for the transmission of one’s own genes. That is why the assisted reproductive technology with a third party donor can be considered as proxy procreation and can be rejected. Methods: All female patients who consulted for a childbearing desire and who needed an assisted reproductive technology with a third party donor were included in the study held at the university teaching hospital of Yopougon and in a private clinic from 1 September 2014 to 31 October 2015. 100 couples were included. Results: 82% of the men accepted the gametes donation in their couple and 89% of women did. 54% of the men accepted the donation spontaneously and 66% of the women too. The others were reserved before accepting it finally. The reasons for this reserved attitude regarding the donation were mainly the need to reflect for the men and the necessity to seek for their partner’s opinion concerning the women. Conclusion: The rate of acceptability of the gametes donation is very high in C?te d’Ivoire in spite of the cultural perception of the genes transmission.

Background: After a successful primary percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA)/stent placement, performing bypass surgery to an artery with a patent stent during semiurgent coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgeries may protect the patient against ischemic complications due to acute stent occlusion. This issue, however, is controversial. Loss of bypass graft function may occur in the early stages due to the competition between native flow and graft flow. In the present study, the effects of bypass surgery to an artery with a patent stent on the outcomes were investigated. Methods: Fifty nine patients who had undergone isolated CABG surgery within 6 weeks after a successful primary PTCA/stent placement were included in the study. Patients who had undergone emergency operation due to suspicion of acute stent occlusion and the redo cases were excluded in the study. Patients were divided into two groups;those with (Group P, protected) and without (Group nP;non-protected) coronary bypass to an artery with a patent stent. Preoperative, operative and postoperative data were collected retrospectively from the patient files. The need for urgent revascularization was recorded postoperatively. Mann-Whitney U test was used for the analysis of continuous variables, whereas categorical variables were analyzed either using Pearson's chisquare test or Fisher's exact test. Results: Of 59 patients, 35 underwent bypass surgery to the artery with patent stent, whereas bypass was not performed on 24 patients. It was observed that dual antiplatelet therapy had been performed on 20% of the patients in Group P and 87.5% of those in Group nP (p = 0.001). no acute ischemic change due to stent occlusion was determined in Group P, whereas it was observed in one patient in Group nP (p = 0.4). The prevalence of hospital mortality was found to be 8.6% and 8.3% in Group P and Group nP, respectively (p = 1). Conclusions: Although it was not statistically significant, it was obse
