Introduction:An accurate and reliable detection of soil physicochemical attributes(SPAs)is a difficult and complicated issue in soil *** SPA may be varied spatially and temporally with the complexity of *** the past,SPA detection has been obtained through routine soil chemical and physical laboratory ***,these laboratory methods do not fulfill the rapid ***,diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(dRS)can be used to nondestructively detect and characterize soil attributes with superior *** the present article,we report a study done through spectral curves in the visible(350–700 nm)and near-infrared(700–2500 nm)(VNIR)region of 74 soil specimens which were agglomerated by farming sectors of Phulambri Tehsil of the Aurangabad region of Maharashtra,*** quantitative analysis of VNIR spectrum was ***:The spectra of agglomerated farming soils were acquired by the Analytical Spectral device(ASd)Field spec 4 *** soil spectra of the VNIR region were preprocessed to get pure spectra which were the input for regression *** partial least squares regression(PLSR)model was computed to construct the calibration models,which were individually validated for the prediction of SPA from the soil *** computed model was based on a correlation study between reflected spectra and detected *** detected SPAs were soil organic carbon(SOC),nitrogen(N),soil organic matter(SOM),pH values,electrical conductivity(EC),phosphorus(P),potassium(K),iron(Fe),sand,silt,and *** accuracy of the PLSR model-validated determinant(R^(2))values were SOC 0.89,N 0.68,SOM 0.93,pH values 0.82,EC 0.89,P 0.98,K 0.82,Fe 0.94,sand 0.98,silt 0.90,and clay 0.69 with root mean square error of prediction(RMSEP)3.51,4.34,2.66,2.12,4.11,1.41,4.22,1.56,1.89,1.97,and 9.91,*** to the experimental results,the VNIR-dRS was better for detection of SPA and produced more accurate predictions for ***

Effect of austenitization temperature on microstructure and mechanical properties of low-carbon-equivalent carbidic austempered ductile iron

The wear resistances of austempered ductile iron （AdI） were improved through intxoduction of a new phase （carbide） into the ma- txix by addition of chromium. In the present investigation, low-caxbon-equivalent ductile iron （LCEdI）（CE = 3.06%, and CE represents cax- bon-equivalent） with 2.42% chromium was selected. LCEdI was austeintized at two difl＇erent temperatures （900 and 975~C） a^ld soaked for 1 h and then quenched in a salt bath at 325~C for 0 to 10 h. Samples were analyzed using optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Wear tests were carded out on a pin-on-disk-type machine. The efl＇ect of austenization temperature on the wear resistance, impact strength, and the mi- crostructure was evaluated. A stxucture-property correlation based on the observations is established.

GA and PSO culled hybrid technique for economic dispatch problem with prohibited operating zones

This paper presents an efficient and reliable genetic algorithm (GA) based particle swarm optimization (PSO) tech- nique (hybrid GAPSO) for solving the economic dispatch (Ed) problem in power systems. The non-linear characteristics of the generators, such as prohibited operating zones, ramp rate limits and non-smooth cost functions of the practical generator operation are considered. The proposed hybrid algorithm is demonstrated for three different systems and the performance is compared with the GA and PSO in terms of solution quality and computation efficiency. Comparison of results proved that the proposed algo- rithm can obtain higher quality solutions efficiently in Ed problems. A comprehensive software package is developed using MATLAB.

Lattice Boltzmann Simulation of a Gas-to-Solid Reaction and Precipitation Process in a Circular Tube

The lattice Boltzmann method(LBM)is used to simulate the growth of a solid-deposit on the walls of a circular tube resulting from a gas-to-solid reaction and precipitation *** process is of particular interest for the design of reactors for the production of hydrogen by the heterogeneous hydrolysis of steam with Zn vapor in the Zn/ZnO thermochemical *** solid deposit of ZnO product on the tube wall evolves in time according to the temporally-and axially-varying convective-diffusive transport and reaction of Zn vapor with steam on the solid *** LBM is wellsuited to solving problems with coupled flow,heat and mass transfer in a time-evolving ***,a d2Q9 axisymmetric multiple-relaxation-time(MRT)lattice Boltzmann scheme is used to simulate incompressible fluid transport while a d2Q5 axisymmetric MRT lattice Boltzmann scheme is used to simulate the convective-diffusive transport of Zn *** model is first validated against several analytical solutions,followed by a parametric study to understand the effect of Reynolds,Schmidt,and damk?hler numbers on the time evolution of the ZnO deposition profile along the tube *** axial location of the fastest deposition is found to increase with increasing Peclet number,and decrease with increasing damk?hler number,with no independent effect from the Schmidt *** the reaction kinetics are assumed to increase along the tube axis due to nonisothermal tube wall temperature,a second peak in the deposition profile can be observed for sufficiently low values of da/Pe.
