Epidemic of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) associated hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) incidence is increasing worldwide, paralleling the obesity epidemic. Although most cases are associated with cirrhosis, HCC can occur without cirrhosis in NAFLD. Diabetes and obesity are associated risk factors for HCC in patients. Given the sheer magnitude of the underlying risk factors(diabetes, obesity, non-cirrhotic NAFLD) screening for HCC in the non-cirrhotic population is not recommended. Optimal screening strategies in NAFLD cirrhosis are not completely elucidated with Ultrasound having significant limitations in detection of liver lesions in the presence of obesity and steatosis. Consequently NAFLD-HCC is more often diagnosed at a later stage with larger tumors and reduced opportunities for curative treatments as opposed to HCC in other causes of cirrhosis. When HCC is found at a curative stage treatments including liver transplantation, resection and loco-regional therapies are associated with good results similar to that seen in HCV-HCC. Future strategies under study include the use of chemopreventive and antioxidant agents to reduce development of cirrhosis and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH). Strategies to reverse NASH via weight loss, control of associated conditions like diabetes are key strategies in reducing the increasing incidence of NASH-HCC. Novel therapeutic agents for NASH are in trials and if successful in achieving reversal of NASH will be an important strategy in reducing NAFLD-HCC.

Author Profiling (AP) is a subsection of digital forensics that focuses on the detection of the author’s personalinformation, such as age, gender, occupation, and education, based on various linguistic features, e.g., stylistic,semantic, and syntactic. The importance of AP lies in various fields, including forensics, security, medicine, andmarketing. In previous studies, many works have been done using different languages, e.g., English, Arabic, French,***, the research on RomanUrdu is not up to the ***, this study focuses on detecting the author’sage and gender based on Roman Urdu text messages. The dataset used in this study is Fire’18-MaponSMS. Thisstudy proposed an ensemble model based on AdaBoostM1 and Random Forest (AMBRF) for AP using multiplelinguistic features that are stylistic, character-based, word-based, and sentence-based. The proposed model iscontrasted with several of the well-known models fromthe literature, including J48-Decision Tree (J48),Na飗e Bays(NB), K Nearest Neighbor (KNN), and Composite Hypercube on Random Projection (CHIRP), NB-Updatable,RF, and AdaboostM1. The overall outcome shows the better performance of the proposed AdaboostM1 withRandom Forest (ABMRF) with an accuracy of 54.2857% for age prediction and 71.1429% for gender predictioncalculated on stylistic features. Regarding word-based features, age and gender were considered in 50.5714% and60%, respectively. On the other hand, KNN and CHIRP show the weakest performance using all the linguisticfeatures for age and gender prediction.

Features of rare earth elements geochemistry in coals of Central Kazakhstan

This research presents the results of a comprehensive study of mineralogical and geochemical features of REE distribution in coals of Central Kazakhstan deposits—Karaganda coal basin and Shubarkol deposit,which have large hard coal reserves and are industrially important for the coal industry of Kazakhstan;the research is based on 205 samples of clayey interlayers and coal *** shows basic patterns of distribution and features of concentration for impurity elements,gives an estimate of the impurity elements concentration,including REE,defines conditions and factors of their accumulation,and studies features of their forms in coal and coal-bearing rocks,which allows estimating the mechanisms of their migration and conditions of *** to the results of geochemical indicators,the article establishes the factors of REE dislocation,reveals the composition of margin rocks that have influenced REE concentration in coal seams,and the presented latest data on mineralogy allowed to establish the ways of their transportation to the paleobasin during the synand epigenetic periods of formation of the coal deposits of Central Kazakhstan being *** was found that the coals are insignificantly enriched with heavy lanthanides from Ho to *** distribution curves of UCC normalized REE values in the coals are similar and coincide,but they are less than the average value for world coal,and amount to only one-third of the *** was found that the highest concentrations of all REE are characteristic of clayey interlayers and oxidized *** La/Yb ratio in this case increases upwards along the section,indicating mainly clastogenic mechanism of REE delivery to the *** coal and clay samples,the predominant mineral form of REE is light lanthanide *** particles of REE from minerals and their composition peculiarities suppose autigene nature of their *** formation of the bulk of autigene minerals occurred during the maturation

Prolonged extra-oral period in dental avulsion is often associated with loss of viability of Periodontal fibroblasts (PDLF) and increased risk of ankylosis. Root surface treatment with bioactive agents to reduce the risk of ankylosis can be a potential strategy. The objective of the study was to investigate the impact of an engineered chitosan nanoparticles (CSNP), photosensitizer Rose Bengal (RB) functionalized CSNP (CSRB) and sustained dexamethasone (CSDEX) releasing CSNP for application in management of delayed replantation of avulsed teeth. The 3D PDLF-macrophage (Mϕ) collagen model was developed and exposed to LPS, MCSF, RANKL with and without CSDEX/CSNP. Immunofluorescence and cytokine analysis was done at 2 and 7 days to assess cellular interactions. Maxillary right incisors in male Wistar rats were extracted, exposed to extraoral dry or LPS for 1 h and treated with or without CSDEX/CSRB for 1 min before replantation. Rats were euthanized after 21 days for micro-CT, TRAP, and immunofluorescence analysis. CSDEX/CSNP treatment in 3D model significantly reduced CD80, NFATc1, STAT6 and increased CD206 and periostin expression (p animal study significantly reduced resorption, ankylosis, TRAP activity and osteocalcin expression and increased periostin (p<0.05). CSDEX demonstrated higher anti-inflammatory activity by downregulating TNFα, while CSNP upregulated TGFβ1, periostin, and downregulated MMP9. The combination of matrix stabilization with CSRB with periostin upregulation and sustained releasing CSDEX showed potential for hampering root resorption and ankylosis in dental avulsion.

Alcoholic liver disease(ALD) is the second most common diagnosis among patients undergoing liver transplantation(LT).The recovery results of patients transplanted for ALD are often at least as good as those of patients transplanted for other diagnoses and better than those suffering from hepatitis C virus, cryptogenic cirrhosis, or hepatocellular *** case of medically non-responding patients with severe acute alcoholic hepatitis or acute-on chronic liver failure, the refusal of LT is often based on the lack of the required alcohol abstinence period of six *** obligatory abidance of a period of abstinence as a transplant eligibility requirement for medically non-responding patients seems unfair and inhumane, since the majority of these patients will not survive the six-month abstinence *** from various studies have challenged the 6-mo rule, while excellent survival results of LT have been observed in selected patients with severe alcoholic hepatitis not responding to medical *** with severe advanced ALD should have legal access to *** mere lack of pre-LT abstinence should not be an obstacle for being listed.

This study analyzes the transmission of typhoid fever caused by Salmonella typhi using a mathematical model thathighlights the significance of delay in its *** delays can affect the nature of patterns and slow downthe emergence of patterns in infected population *** analyzed model is expanded with the equilibriumanalysis,reproduction number,and stability *** study aims to establish and explore the non-standardfinite difference(NSFD)scheme for the typhoid fever virus transmission model with a time *** addition,the forward Euler method and Runge-Kutta method of order 4(RK-4)are also applied in the present *** significant properties,such as convergence,positivity,boundedness,and consistency,are explored,and theproposed scheme preserves all the mentioned *** theoretical validation is conducted on how NSFDoutperforms other methods in emulating key aspects of the continuous model,such as positive solution,stability,and equilibrium about ***,the above analysis also shows some of the limitations of the conventional finitedifference methods,such as forward Euler and RK-4 in simulating such critical *** becomes moreapparent when using larger *** indicated that NSFD is beneficial in identifying the essential characteristicsof the continuous model with higher accuracy than the traditional approaches.

The determination of internal building air temperature has an impact on the design and performance of a building in measuring thermal comfort and heating and cooling *** is software to assist with measuring internal building air tem-perature such as Autodesk CFD ***,the use of Autodesk CFD simulation for the analysis appears to have an issue with simulations extending over a long term(*** or years)as the internal air temperature in a building keeps rising with *** paper addresses the challenges encountered using CFD simu-lation in the modelling of a building for long term performance.A new method to overcome the issue of the progressive rising of internal air temperature using two external air boundaries,one for the external volume(sky boundary)and the other surrounding the building,is suggested in the paper.

Seeds of Indian mustard （Brassicajuncea （L.） Czern. et Coss.） were exposed to 0, 50, 100 and 150 mmol/L NaCI for 8 h and seeds were sown in an earthen pot. These stressed seedlings were subsequently sprayed with 10μmol/L salicylic acid （SA） at 30 d and were sampled at 60 d to assess the changes in growth, photosynthesis and antioxidant enzymes. The seedlings raised from the seeds treated with NaCI had significantly reduced growth and the activities of carbonic anhydrase, nitrate reductase and photosynthesis, and the decrease was proportional to the increase in NaCI concentration. However, the antioxidant enzymes （catalase, peroxidase and superoxide dismutase） and proline content was enhanced in response to NaCI and/or SA treatment, where their interaction had an additive effect. Moreover, the toxic effects generated by the lower concentration of NaCI （50 mmol/L） were completely overcome by the application of SA. It was, therefore, concluded that SA ameliorated the stress generated by NaCl through the alleviated antioxidant system.
