aim:To evaluate the predicting efficacy of severe retinopathy of prematurity(ROP)by the WInROP algorithm(http://***)in Southern ***:All preterm infants with the gestational age(GA)less than 32 wk were *** ROP screening results and serial postnatal body weight were analysed *** body weight was entered into and measured by the WInROP *** outcomes were analysed,and the sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value and negative predictive value(nPV)were ***:Totally 432 infants with a median GA of 30.0(24.0-31.9)wk,and a median birth weight(BW)of 1360(540-2700)g were *** these 432 infants,50 were diagnosed as type 1 ROP but only 28 were identified by the WInROP *** sensitivity was 56%(28/50)and the nPV was 92%(252/274).However,for infants with BWnsitivity was 93.8%(15/16)and 93.3%(14/15),***,with several postnatal complications added as additional risk factors,the sensitivity was increased to 96%(48/50).COnCLUSIOn:The sensitivity of the WInROP algorithm from the Southern Chinese cohort is not as high as that reported in developed *** algorithm is effective for detecting severe ROP from extremely small or preterm *** of the algorithm with additional risk factors could improve the predictive value for infants with a GA>28 wk in China.

Triclosan(TCS)is a ubiquitous antimicrobial used in daily consumer *** reports have shown that TCS could induce hepatotoxicity,endocrine disruption,disturbance on immune function and impaired thyroid *** is critical in the elimination of toxins,while the effects of TCS on kidney have not yet been *** aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of TCS exposure on kidney function and the possible underlying mechanisms in *** C57BL/6 mice were orally exposed to TCS with the doses of 10 and 100 mg/(kg•day)for 13 *** was dissolved in dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSO)and diluted by corn oil for *** oil containing DMSO was used as vehicle *** and kidney tissues were collected for *** associated with kidney function,oxidative stress,inflammation and fibrosis were *** results showed that TCS could cause renal injury as was revealed by increased levels of renal function markers including serum creatinine,urea nitrogen and uric acid,as well as increased oxidative stress,pro-inflammatory cytokines and fibroticmarkers in a dose dependent manner,whichweremore significantly in 100 mg/(kg•day)*** spectrometry-based analysis of metabolites relatedwith lipid metabolism demonstrated the occurrence of lipid accumulation and defective fatty acid oxidation in 100 mg/(kg•day)TCS-exposed mouse *** processes might lead to lipotoxicity and energy depletion,thus resulting in kidney fibrosis and functional *** together,the present study demonstrated that TCS could induce lipid accumulation and fatty acid metabolism disturbance in mouse kidney,whichmight contribute to renal function *** present study further widens our insights into the adverse effects of TCS.

Synergistic Effects of Chiral Morphology and Reconfiguration in Cattail Leaves

Cattail, a type of herbaceous emergent aquatic macrophyte, has upright-standing leaves with a large slenderness ratio and a ehiral morphology. With the aim of understanding the effect of chiral morphology on their mechanical behavior, we investi- gated, both experimentally and theoretically, the twisting chiral morphologies and wind-adaptive reconfigurations of cattail leaves. Their multiscale structures were observed by using optical microscope and scanning electron microscopy. Their me- chanical properties were measured by uniaxial tension and three-point bending tests. By modeling a chiral leaf as a pre-twisted cantilever-free beam, fluid dynamics simulations were performed to elucidate the synergistic effects of the leaf＇s chiral mor- phology and reconfiguration in wind. It was observed that the leaves have evolved multiscale structures and superior mechanical properties, both of which feature functionally gradient variations in the height direction, to improve their ability to resist lodging failure by reducing the maximal stress. The synergistic effect ofchiral morphology and reconfiguration can greatly improve the survivability of cattail plants in wind.

Prestretch plays an indispensable role in programming the voltage-induced deformation of dielectric elastomer actuators(DEAs).However,lacking rational design methods,the level of prestretch is usually determined through time-consuming experiments and trial-and-error *** this paper,we aim to quantitatively determine the optimal biaxial prestretch ratios for maximizing the voltage-induced displacement of *** on the Lagrange method and adjoint sensitivity analysis,we obtain the derivative of the displacement field with respect to the principal prestretch ratios,in which the nonlinearities and complex electromechanical coupling of DEAs are rigorously taken into *** derivative information allows for performing gradient-based optimization at a high convergence *** propose a comprehensive optimization framework connecting the nonlinear finite element analysis and sensitivity analysis to iteratively identify the optimal prestretch *** validate our method on two classical types of DEAs,i.e.,planar DEAs with fixed boundaries and free-standing three-dimensional dielectric elastomer minimum energy structures(DEMES).The simulation and experiment results both show that remarkable improvements in concerned displacements are obtained compared with the non-optimized designs.

The aim of this study was to evaluate microstructures and the influence of test temperature on the tensile properties, strain hardening behavior and fracture characteristics of friction stir welded （FSWed） 2219- T62 aluminum alloy thick plate joints. A fine and equiaxed recrystallized grain structure had no significant change in grains at the top of weld nugget zone （WnZ） at a rotational rate of 500 r/min compared with 300 r/min, but the grains and second-phase particles at the middle of WnZ exhibited obvious coarsen- ing. The yield strength, ultimate tensile strength and joint efficiency were observed to decrease with increasing test temperatures. However, the elongation presented a contrast trend. Compared with the middle and bottom slices, the top slice （216 and 342 MPa） had a higher strength and a lower elongation （8.5%） at different test temperatures. Hardening capacity and strain hardening exponent of bottom slices were higher than those of the top and middle slices. Both of them at room temperature （RT） were bigger than those at higher temperature （HT） and lower temperature （LT）. The FSWed joints basically failed in the border area between the thermo-mechanical affected zone （TMAZ） and heat-affected zone （HAZ） of the top slice, and in the HAZ of the middle or bottom slices, while the fracture surfaces exhibited dimple fracture characteristics at different test temperatures.

The aim of this paper is to develop a multi-period economic model to interpret how the people become overconfident by a biased learning that people tend to attribute the success to their abilities and failures to other *** authors suppose that the informed trader does not know the distribution of the precision of his private signal and updates his belief on the distribution of the precision of his knowledge by Bayer's *** informed trader can eventually recognize the value of the precision of his knowledge after an enough long time biased learning,but the value is overestimated which leads him to be ***,based on the definition on the luckier trader who succeeds the same times but has the larger variance of the knowledge,the authors find that the luckier the informed trader is,the more overconfident he will be;the smaller the biased learning factor is, the more overconfident the informed trader *** authors also obtain a linear equilibrium which can explain some anomalies in financial markets,such as the high observed trading volume and excess volatility.

Different pre-S deletion patterns and their association with hepatitis B virus genotypes

aim To investigate the associations of different types of pre-S deletions with hepatitis B virus(HBV) *** The sequences of the pre-S region, basal core promoter(BCP) mutation, and precore(PC) mutation were examined through direct DnA sequencing or clonal analysis and sequencing in 273 HBV carriers, namely 55 asymptomatic carriers, 55 carriers with chronic hepatitis(CH), 55 with liver cirrhosis(LC), 53 with liver cirrhotic hepatocellular carcinoma(LC-HCC), and 55 with noncirrhotic HCC. A total of 126 HBV carriers(46.2%) harbored pre-S deletions. The DnA sequences of pre-S deletion mutants from 43 age-matched genotype B(HBV/B)-infected carriers and 43 agematched genotype C(HBV/C)-infected carriers were further examined, aligned, and *** no significant difference was observed in the mean age distribution(P = 0.464), male sex(P = 0.805), viral load(P = 0.635), or BCP mutation(P = 0.117) between the HBV/B and HBV/C groups. However, the rate of PC mutation was significantly higher in the HBV/B-infected carriers than in the HBV/C-infected carriers(P = 0.003). Both genotypes exhibited a high rate of deletion in the C-terminal half of the pre-S1 region and n-terminus of the pre-S2 region(86.0% and 79.1% in the HBV/B group; 69.8% and 72.1% in the HBV/C group, respectively). Epitope mapping showed that deletion in several epitope sites was frequent i n both genotypes, particularly p S1-BT and p S2-B2. Conversely, the rate of p S2-B1 deletion was significantly higher in the HBV/B group(72.1% vs 37.2%, P = 0.002), and the rate of pS 2-T deletion was significantly higher in the HBV/C group(48.8% vs 25.6%, P = 0.044). Functional mapping showed that the rate of deletion in three functional sites(the nucleocapsid binding site, start codon of M, and site for viral secretion) located in the n-terminus of the pre-S2 region was significantly higher in the HBV/B group(P ne type of n-terminus pre-S1 deletion mutant with deletion of the start codon of t

The main aim of this paper is to study the convergence properties of a low order mixed finite element for the Stokes problem under anisotropic meshes. We discuss the anisotropic convergence and superconvergence independent of the aspect ratio. Without the shape regularity assumption and inverse assumption on the meshes, the optimal error estimates and natural superconvergence at central points are obtained. The global superconvergence for the gradient of the velocity and the pressure is derived with the aid of a suitable postprocessing method. Furthermore, we develop a simple method to obtain the superclose properties which improves the results of the previous works .
