Statistical Analyses and Geotechnical Evaluation of Nubia Sandstone, Golden Triangle Area, Egypt

Great efforts had been made to use indirect non-destructive tests in the geotechnical evaluation of rocks, especially sandstones, employing different empirical equations. However, most of these equations have been derived from hard and compacted sandstones data;therefore, the focus of this research is on weak and weakly compacted sandstones, aiming firstly to obtain empirical equations for estimating their characteristics, secondly to demonstrate and visualize the correlations between the studied variables, and finally to cluster the studied samples based on their characteristics. To attain these aims, twenty oriented block samples were collected from Nubia sandstone, central Eastern Desert, Golden Triangle area, Egypt. These samples were prepared and tested according to standard test methods, including uniaxial compressive strength (UCS), Brazilian tensile strength (BTS), Schmidt rebound number (SRN), porosity (n), bulk density (ρ), and ultrasonic P-wave velocity (UPV). The loss on ignition (LOI) was also employed as a physicochemical test for classifying the studied samples and indicating pores filling materials. The results revealed that these sandstones are characterized mainly by high n, low ρ, and low UPV values and these give an indication of weakly compacted and weakly cemented sandstone with shallow burial diagenetic conditions. Based on UCS and elastic modulus values, these sandstones are mainly classified as very low strength and highly yielding rocks. The results of regression analysis show satisfactory correlations between physical and mechanical characteristics, indicating the suitability of obtained empirical equations to deduce these properties. Background This study aimed to develop an expert consensus regarding the epidemiology,diagnosis,and management of cow’s milk protein allergy(CMPA)in the Middle *** A three-step modified Delphi method was utilized to develop the *** specialized pediatricians participated in the development of this *** statement was considered a consensus if it achieved an agreement level of>80%.Results The experts agreed that the double-blind placebo-controlled oral challenge test(OCT)should be performed for 2-A weeks using an amino acid formula(AAF)in formula-fed infants or children with suspected ***-fed infants with confirmed CMPA should be offered a therapeutic *** panel stated that an extensively hydrolyzed formula(eHF)is indicated in the absence of red flag *** the same time,the AAF is offered for infants with red flag signs,such as severe anaphylactic *** panel agreed that infants on an eHF with resolved symptoms within 2-4 weeks should continue the eHF with particular attention to the growth and nutritional *** the other hand,an AAF should be considered for infants with persistent symptoms;the AAF should be continued if the symptoms resolve within 2-4 weeks,with particular attention to the growth and nutritional *** cases with no symptomatic improvements after the introduction of an *** measures should be *** panel developed a management algorithm,which achieved an agreement level of 90.9%.Conclusion This consensus document combined the best available evidence and clinical experience to optimize the management of CMPA in the Middle East.

New Sudanese Reference Chart of Fetal Bi-ometry and Weight Using Ultrasonography

Background: Many centers in Sudan use the reference data for fetal biometry. The recently published population-based reference either overestimated or underestimated the weight of the fetuses. Objective: To establish a national reference for fetal biometry, and weight by gestational age for singleton fetuses in Sudan. Methods: Data were collected on all singleton live births documented in the data collection sheet done at Saudi Hospital from 2015 to 2016 (n = 225). Gestational age estimation was based on the last menstrual period and fetal ultrasound thereafter. Fetal biometry and weight and other 6 fetal weight formulae were assessed. Reference data for fetal growth by gestational age were created. Results: New charts and reference equations are reported in Sudanese population for fetal biparietal diameter, head circumference, abdominal circumference and femur length and fetal weight. Conclusion: We advocate that these reference charts and equations for fetal biometry and weight might be valuable in the clinical use for appropriate ethnic Sudanese.

Assessment of Used Formulae for Sonographic Estimation of Fetal Weight in Sudanese Population

The objective of this study is to assess commonly used formulae (Sheppard, Campbell, Hadlock I, II, III, and IV) for estimation of fetal weight in Sudanese population. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted at Saudi Hospital-Khartoum-Sudan;from December 2015 to April 2016. The study included 225 singleton pregnancies. The fetal biometry—Biparietal diameter (BPD), head circumference (HC), abdominal circumference (AC), femur length (FL) and actual birth weights (ABW) were taken. Statistical analysis showed significant results at p ≤ 0.005. Results showed that the significant highest positive correlation between the ABW and the EFW/Kg was seen in the Hadlock I, III and IV equations having an equal values (0.951) followed by Hadlock II (0.946), Sheppard (0.872) and lastly Campbell (-0.925) with significant high degree of negative correlation. The new established equation EFWFLHCAC is the best formula identified in our study to predict Sudanese babies weight ranged between 1.86 Kg to 3.987 Kg.

Nutritional Epidemiological Study to Estimate Usual Intake and to Define Optimum Nutrient Profiling Choice in the Diet of Egyptian Youths

Objectives: To define optimum food and nutrient profiling in gender-specific and age group-specific variant regression models. Setting: 481 subjects of both sexes (18.4 years old) from Giza urban were set. Design: Dietary assessment used the 24-h dietary recall data to calculate the estimated energy and (24) nutrients eaten by each individual. Four indices—food variety diversity score, healthy eating index (HEI), mean probability of nutrients adequacy (MPA) and nutrient rich food (NRF9.3) index score were used for assessing the profiling of the diet. Results: A total of 163 individual food items were consumed by the participants within the 24-h dietary recall with an average daily intake of (6.6) different food varieties. Grains were the top contributors of energy and 10 macro and micro nutrients followed by the meat group. Based on the MPA data, the mean acceptable intake (AI) of dietary calcium (32.9%) and vitamin C (30%) were limiting in the diet. The diet profiling consumed by the teenagers aged 14.8 years was inferior compared to that consumed by subjects aging 23.9 years. Linear regression analyses were conducted between the 4 indices as the dependent variable and all possible combinations of 16 nutrients of interest as independent variables. NRF9.3 was the optimum nutrient index and correlated negatively with markers of abdominal obesity. Conclusion: Implementation of nutrition intervention program was directed to youths to include age appropriate good healthy foods to decrease the risk of nutrient deficiencies.

Besides（-）-epicatechin,epicatechin-（4β-8 ）-epicatechin（procyanidin B2）,epicatechin-（4β-6 ）-epicatechin （procyanidin B5）,epicatechin-（4β-8,2β-O-7）-epicatechin（proanthocyanidin A2） and epicatechin- （4β-8）-epicatechin-（4β-8）-epicatechin（procyanidin C1）,which were isolated before from Adansonia digitata, in this work an A-type proanthocyanidin trimer,***-（4β-8）-epicatechin-（4β-8,2β-0-7）- epicatechin,tetrameric procyanidin D1,***-（4β-8）-epicatechin-（4β-8）-epicatechin-（4β-8）- epicatechin and a polymeric compound were isolated from the pericarp（fruit wall） of the fruits for the first time from this *** antioxidant activity of different fractions and pure compounds was experimentally evaluated in the DPPH- *** ethyl acetate fraction,and most of the isolated compounds displayed a high activity(IC50 2.40-9.60μg/ml) compared with the reference antioxidant Trolox(IC50 12.18μg/ml) as a standard.

Correlation between SYNTAX Score and Pattern of Risk Factors in Patients Referred for Coronary Angiography in Cardiology Department, Menoufia University

Objectives: The role of SYNTAX (SX) score in assessing the complexity of coronary artery disease (CAD) is well established. In this study we investigate the relationship between conventional risk factors of CAD with its complexity using SX score. Methods: The study consisted of 52 patients with CAD who were admitted to Cardiology Department—Menoufia University Hospitals for elective coronary angiography. The overall SX score was calculated prospectively using the SX score algorithm. Then comparison was done between populations with and without each risk factor. Results: There was a statistically significant correlation between age, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia and smoking with SX score results (p 0.05). In a multivariate regression analysis, including conventional risk factors of CAD as independent covariates, it revealed that aging, having diabetes mellitus and smoking were identified as significant independent risk factors for CAD complexity. Conclusion: Advanced age, having diabetes mellitus and cigarette smoking are considered to be independent risk factors for the complexity of CAD. Therefore, when these factors present, we expect that the SX score of the patient to be high indicating a complex CAD.

花岗岩的物理特征对深部能源勘探开采及核废料存储有重要影响。在高温的作用下,花岗岩的物理化学特性会发生显著变化,比如矿物成分、孔隙结构和渗流特性。为了研究高温对花岗岩理化特性的影响,在不同的预处理温度（20℃-800℃）下对花岗岩进行了一系列基本物性实验、孔隙结构表征实验室和渗透实验,具体结果如下:（1）随着预处理温度的升高,花岗岩的质量和波速逐渐降低,但在不同的加热阶段,质量的相对变化率不同。（2）随着温度的增加花岗岩的矿物组分中粘土矿物基本变化较小,当超过400℃后,方解石消失。对于粘土矿物,超过105℃后蒙皂石类消失,而伊利石含量先增加,超过200℃后,其含量基本保持不变。（3）温度的变化还导致了花岗岩的孔隙结构的演变,而孔隙结构的演变和气矿物成分的变化息息相关。（4）温度变化对花岗岩气体渗透率有一定的影响,特别是当温度超过500℃后气体渗透率变化较大,这和其矿物成分以及孔隙结构演化息息相关。（5）根据SEM扫描图像的处理结果,发现在花岗岩中形成了新的孔隙和裂缝,并且由于颗粒的热膨胀而消失了一些孔隙和裂缝。但总的来说,新的孔隙和裂隙大于消失的孔隙和裂隙,这进一步反映了花岗岩渗透性增加的内部原因。论文有图34幅,表14个,参考文献91篇。

Real time endoscopic ultrasound elastography and strain ratio in the diagnosis of solid pancreatic lesions

AIM To evaluate the accuracy of the elastography score combined to the strain ratio in the diagnosis of solid pancreatic lesions(SPL). METHODS A total of 172 patients with SPL identified by endoscopic ultrasound were enrolled in the study to evaluate the efficacy of elastography and strain ratio in differentiating malignant from benign lesions. The semi quantitative score of elastography was represented by the strain ratio method. Two areas were selected, area(A) representing the region of interest and area(B) representing the normal area. Area(B) was then divided by area(A). Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value(PPV), negative predictive value(NPV), and accuracy were calculated by comparing diagnoses made by elastography, strain ratio and final *** SPL were shown to be benign in 49 patients and malignant in 123 patients. Elastography alone had a sensitivity of 99%, a specificity of 63%, and an accuracy of 88%, a PPV of 87% and an NPV of 96%. The best cut-off level of strain ratio to obtain the maximal area under the curve was 7.8 with a sensitivity of 92%, specificity of 77%, PPV of 91%, NPV of 80% and an accuracy of 88%. Another estimated cut off strain ratio level of 3.8 had a higher sensitivity of 99% and NPV of 96%, but with less specificity, PPV and accuracy 53%, 84% and 86%, respectively. Adding both elastography to strain ratio resulted in a sensitivity of 98%, specificity of 77%, PPV of 91%, NPV of 95% and accuracy of 92% for the diagnosis of SPL. CONCLUSION Combining elastography to strain ratio increases the accuracy of the differentiation of benign from malignant SPL.

Measure the Bulk Etch Rate Using the Time-Diameter Method

The present work measured the bulk etch rate (VB?) of solid state nuclear track detector by taking the diameter time measurement of alpha particle in CR-39 detector. The values of the track diameter have been found by using TRACK-TEST program from Yu et al. function and Brun et al. function with different energies of alpha particles. The results showed that the time-diameter (t-d) method gave good results of the bulk etch rate (VB?) and these values were (1.705 and 1.72) μm·hr-1. They showed good agreement with the values measured by using the other methods, and it was a simple method because it required getting diameters of the tracks in the detector with the etching time.
