Effect of Wearing a Maxillofacial Prosthesis on Masticatory Rhythm Improvement in Mandibulectomy Patients

Background: Recording jaw movement rhythms in patients with jaw defects is challenging using conventional tracking devices. However, masticatory rhythm is crucial for masticatory performance and nutritional intake. this study aimed to explore the impact of using a maxillofacial prosthesis to restore masticatory rhythm in mandibulectomy patients with a novel wearable device. Methods: twelve patients who underwent mandibulectomy and were rehabilitated with maxillofacial prosthesis were recruited. Chewing rate, cycle durations, coefficient of variation of cycle durations (CV), changing times of skin morphology on the back of the ear pinna area (SM), and masticatory performance were measured during gum chewing without and with a denture using a wearable jaw movement rhythm tracking device. A paired t-test and the Pearson correlation coefficient were used for statistical analysis. Results: the chewing rate increased by 8.6 cycles/min with dentures (P P = 0.01). the CV and SM decreased with dentures (P = 0.004 and P = 0.01, respectively). Significant correlations were found between the CV and SM without dentures (P = 0.004). Conclusion: 1. Wearing maxillofacial prostheses can improve masticatory rhythm in patients who undergo mandibulectomy with Eichner B2 occlusal supports. 2. the wearable device is available for measuring masticatory rhythm in patients with jaw defects in clinics. 3. Changing times of the skin morphology on the back of the ear pinna indicate jaw movement stability through a simpler process than the coefficient of variation of cycle durations.

Research Background: the high prevalence of diabetes in Sudan, estimated at 16%, highlights the importance of effective health education in diabetes management. Diabetes self-management education has been identified as a crucial tool in enhancing the knowledge, attitudes, and abilities necessary for self-management among individuals with diabetes. Aim: to assess the impact of diabetes self-management education on medication adherence and glycemic control in Sudanese adults with type 2 diabetes before and 3 months after the DSME intervention. Method: the study was conducted in Sudan between September 2022 and March 2023, it was an interventional, one-group, pre- and post-test study that aimed to assess the impact of diabetes self-management education (DSME) on medication adherence and diabetes control in Sudanese adults with type 2 diabetes. the research was conducted in primary health care centers in six cities in Sudan and involved 244 participants. the data entry and statistical analysis were conducted using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 27.0. A paired t test was used for analysis. Results: the study included 244 participants, 67% of whom were males. the age mean ± SD was 48.6 ± 9.3 years, and 85.3% of participants were married. Age at onset of diabetes mean ± SD was 40.60 ± 7.81 years;44.6% had diabetes for less than 5 years;and 84.1% had a positive family history of diabetes mellitus. the levels of poor, low, and partial adherence to medication decreased by 8.2%, 4%, and 20.6%, respectively, after the intervention. the levels of good and high medication regime adherence increased by 13% and 19.8%, respectively;BMI decreased by 1.1 ± 0.73 kg/m2 (p = 0.005). the fasting blood sugar decreased by 69 ± 32.9 mg/dl (p = 0.049), and the glycated hemoglobin decreased by 1.21 ± 0.28% (p = 0.001). Conclusions: the findings of this study reinforce the importance of patient education in improving glycemic control and enhancing self-management

Background:the impact of chronic hepatitis C (CHC) on bone mineral density (BMD) has been well studied in adults with a relative paucity of data in children,especially concerning effect of treatment with pegylated interferon (PEG-IFN) plus ribavirin (RV).In the current work,we assessed prospectively changes in BMD in children with CHC before,during,and after ***:Forty-six consecutive children with noncirrhotic genotype 4 CHC were subjected to dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry at baseline,24 weeks,48 weeks of therapy and 24 weeks after ***,bone mineral content (BMC),and Z score of lumbar spine (L2-L4) were *** pubertal stage,viral load,liver function tests,serum calcium,phosphorus,alkaline phosphatase,parathyroid hormone,and liver histopathology were assessed in all included ***:thirty (65.2%) patients had normal BMD,10 (21.7%) were at risk for low BMD,and 6 (13.1%) had low BMD for chronological *** with low BMD were significantly older (P=0.001),with higher frequency of delayed puberty than other groups (P=0.002).Baseline densitometric parameters (BMD & BMC) were significantly positively correlated with patients' age,weight,height,body mass index and hemoglobin level;while they were insignificantly correlated with basal viral load,histopathology activity index and fibrosis *** parameters improved significantly on PEG-IFN plus RV treatment,this improvement was found to be sustainable 24 weeks after ***:Low BMD is detectable in a proportion of CHC *** therapy leads to a sustainable increase in BMD.

Pentacam changes in primary angle-closure glaucoma after different lines of treatment

AIM: to assess the changes in the anterior chamber parameters using Pentacam following four different lines of treatment of primary angle-closure glaucoma(PACG).MEtHODS: A retrospective comparative study included 126 patients(126 eye) presented within 24-48 h after acute angle-closure glaucoma(AACG). Patients were divided into 2 groups: group A(68 eyes) with controlled intraocular pressure(IOP) ≤21 mm Hg, which included subgroup A1(34 eyes) with clear lens underwent Nd:YAG laser peripheral iridotomy(LPI) and subgroup A2(34 eyes) with cataract underwent standard phacoemulsification;and group B(58 eyes) with uncontrolled IOP, which included subgroup B1(30 eyes) with clear lens underwent trabeculectomy and subgroup B2(28 eyes) with cataract underwent combined phacoemulsification and trabeculectomy. Patients were fol owed up for at least 3 mo. Primary outcomes were Pentacam anterior segment measurements [anterior chamber angle(ACA) and depth(ACD)]. Secondary outcomes were changes in IOP, visual acuity(VA) and recorded complications. RESULtS: At the 3^(rd)month, there was significant increase in the ACA values in all studied groups compared to preoperative values(Pthe highest percent of increase in ACA was recorded in phacotrabeculectomy group B2(128.40%). there was significant increase in ACD values at 3^(rd)month compared with baseline values(Pthout change in B1 trabeculectomy group. the maximum deepening of ACD was noticed in group B2 with 94.27% increase. Significantdecrease in postoperative IOP in groups A2, B1 and B2(Ptively). [目的]窟野河流域是黄河中游粗沙区的主要侵蚀策源地。阐明窟野河流域土壤侵蚀时空变化特征,预测流域土壤侵蚀发展趋势,为流域未来水土流失综合治理提供决策支持。[方法]基于窟野河流域2010—2020年多源数据,刻画流域土壤侵蚀空间分布,结合土壤侵蚀强度动态度、信息熵、综合指数和转移矩阵等定量指标,分析土壤侵蚀强度变化特征;构建CA-Markov模型,预测流域2025年土壤侵蚀状况。[结果]（1）研究区土壤侵蚀以微度、轻度侵蚀为主,面积占比超过70%,较强度侵蚀主要分布于流域中下游和支流悖牛川区域。2010—2020年间,平均土壤侵蚀量由1 955.56 t/（km2·a）降至892.98 t/（km2·a）,微度侵蚀面积大幅增加,其他侵蚀等级面积相应减少,大部分区域土壤侵蚀强度不变或下降,仅有不到3%的区域侵蚀强度加剧。（2）窟野河流域土壤剧烈、极强度、强度侵蚀的动态度变化较大,土壤侵蚀强度信息熵由1.29稳定下降至0.81,土壤侵蚀强度综合指数由178.96降低至76.61且前5年下降幅度更高,流域土壤侵蚀强度朝减弱方向转化,主要发生在邻近两侵蚀强度等级之间。（3）CA-Markov模拟显示,预计到2025年,流域土壤侵蚀状况将进一步改善,微度侵蚀占比超75%。[结论] 2010—2020年间,研究区土壤侵蚀状况持续好转,后5年水土流失治理效率更高,2025年流域土壤侵蚀状况将进一步改善。

Facies Analysis and Biostratigraphy of the Miocene Sequence,Cairo-Suez District,Egypt

Miocene siliciclastic-carbonate deposits are widely exposed in Cairo-Suez District, Egypt. these deposits are underlain and overlain by continental sediments of Oligocene and post Miocene, respectively. three stratigraphic sections were investigated at Gabals Geneife, Homeira and Gharra. Lithostrtigraphically, the Miocene sequence could be differentiated into two main rock units representing shallow deposits with relatively intermittent deep marine incursions. these are from base to top, Gharra Formation and Genefe Formation. Detailed macrofossils investigations led to the recognition of four macrofossil zones, namely Alectryonella plicatula-Crassostrea frondosa Range Zone, Echinolampas amplus-Scutella ammonis Range Zone, Chlamys（Macrochlamys） sardoa-Chlamys（Argopecten） submalvinae Range Zone, and Chlamys gentoni-Pecten（Oppenheimopecten） benedictus-Pecten（P.） ziziniae Assemblage Zone. Microfacies analysis and identified taxa indicated that the Miocene sequence was deposited in transgressive-regressive cycles ranged from near shore, warm shallow inner to middle shelf marine environments with storm influence during the accumulation of the oyster banks.

An Analysis of the Lifestyle and Mental Health Status of Adult People Living in Dhaka City: A Cross-Sectional Study in Post COVID-19 Era

Introduction: the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 affected all the megacities of the world and made the mental health and lifestyle of people paralyzed. According to different studies, such difficulties were different in scale in different cities depending on the demographic attributes of the people. this phenomenon has created the essence of the current study to examine the health conditions in terms of their mental health, lifestyle, and demographic attributes during and immediate past of the COVID-19 era. Method: It was a cross-sectional study covering the people of Dhaka City Corporation. For this purpose, a multistage sampling method was applied, under which the respondents were selected randomly and a self-administered structured questionnaire was used to collect data. the questionnaire was developed based on the DASS 21, as it was suitable to measure the components of mental health in the form of depression, anxiety, and stress. Descriptive analysis and cross-tabulation were applied to find out the association between dependent and independent variables, whereas, a chi-square test was performed to examine the hypothesis. Finally, multivariate analysis was done to find out the risk factors. three logistic regression models were developed for three dependent variables. Result: the findings of the analysis revealed that the lifestyle of people had severely influenced the components of their mental health conditions during and immediate past of COVID-19 in the Dhaka City Corporation, which varies to some extent depending on the demographic attributes of those. Conclusion: the above findings are statistically significant enough to conclude about the essence of taking preventive measures regarding mental health issues in the future. 个人道路事故最常见的原因是人为错误,通常是由于一名或多名司机在驾驶时的不当行为造成的。当预期的机动动作不能很好地适应当前的交通状况以使自动驾驶车辆的导航系统在城市环境中更加稳健和安全时,就会发生危险。为了识别驾驶员在驾驶车辆过程中的基本意图,本文研究了驾驶员驾驶意图识别领域,在直行、左转、右转、左转五种车况下进行驾驶员意图识别。,并研究了准确改变车道。为了采集驾驶员在行驶过程中产生的特征,本文首先设计了一个分布式智能驾驶仿真平台,包括Carla、ROS、Carsim、Lab View、NI Real-time系统等软硬件。分布式结构的设计解决了多个软件接口之间的强耦合和软硬件扩展问题,通过多软件联合仿真提高了仿真精度和可靠性。本文设计的智能驾驶仿真平台具备场景与传感器仿真、算法仿真、动态仿真等能力,能够完成驾驶员驾驶数据的采集。在驾驶员驾驶意图识别模型的设计中。本文建立了分布式智能驾驶仿真平台,设计了智能驾驶分布式仿真平台的总体系统框架,以实现可扩展性和分布式架构的设计目标。设计通信协议和通信组件、动态硬件在环仿真系统和系统时钟同步机制,并通过通信网络集成各组件构建仿真平台,建立驾驶员意图识别数据集,建立驾驶员意图识别模型设计,包含直行、左转、右转、左变道和右变道五种不同的驾驶意图。设计了包括CNN模型和LStM模型的驾驶员意图识别模型,并可在智能驾驶仿真平台上对模型进行验证。本文设计了三种递归神经网络算法RNN、LStM和GRU,根据实际意图和识别结果的对比分析,最终选择LStM算法作为驾驶员意图识别模型,意图的准确率识别度约为0.97。因此,本文提出的基于LStM的驾驶员意图识别模型可以有效地用于驾驶员意图识别。

Herein,iron oxide/hydroxides deposits(gossans)were utilized,for the first time,in the fabrication of magnetite nanoparticles(MNPs)to load modified coal(MC).the as-synthesized MNPs@MC composite was characterized via different techniques and utilized for the Cr(Ⅵ)*** studies supported by theoretical treatment were applied to offer a new overview of the Cr(Ⅵ)adsorption geometry and mechanism at 25-45℃.Experimental results suggested that the Cr(Ⅵ)uptake was mainly governed by adsorption-reduction coupled *** Langmuir model fitted well the Cr(Ⅵ)adsorption data with maximum adsorption capacities extended from 115.24 to 129.63 mg·g^(-1).theoretical calculations indicated that Cr(Ⅵ)ions were adsorbed on the MNPs@MC following the theory of the advanced monolayer statistical *** number of ions removed per site ranged from 1.88 to1.23 suggesting the involvement of vertical geometry and multi-ionic mechanism at all *** increment of the active sites density and the adsorption capacity at saturation with improving temperature reflected an endothermic ***,the Cr(Ⅵ)adsorption was controlled by physical forces as the adsorption energies were less than 40 kJ·mol^(-1).the calculated free enthalpy,*** internal energy explained the spontaneous nature and the viability of Cr(Ⅵ)adsorption on the MNPs@MC *** results offer a new approach in utilizing the iron-rich deposits as gossans in the preparation of magnetic and low-cost adsorbents for wastewater remediation.
