In this work we calibrated the NaI(tl) scintillation detectors (5.08 × 5.08 cm2 and 7.62 × 7.62 cm2) and the Full Energy Peak Efficiency (FEPE) for these detectors have been calculated for point sources placed at different positions on the detector axis using the analytical approach of the effective solid angle ratio. this approach is based on the direct mathematical method reported by Selim and Abbas [1,2] and has been used successfully before to calibrate the cylindrical, parallelepiped, and 4π NaI(tl) detectors by using point, plane and volumetric sources. In addition, the present method is free of some major inconveniences of the conventional methods.

Intraluminal stenting versus external ligation of ahmed glaucoma valve in prevention of postoperative hypotony

AIM:to compare intraluminal stenting and external ligation of ahmed glaucoma valves(AGV)for refractory glaucoma management and postoperative hypotony ***:this randomized prospective blind study included 30 eyes of 25 patients(age range:44-56y)with refractory *** study was conducted from September 2018 to January *** study included two groups,AGV with intraluminal stenting group(n=15 eyes)and AGV with external ligation group(n=15 eyes).Follow-up period was one year *** primary outcome was intraocular pressure(IOP)and its association with the number of postoperative glaucoma ***≤21 mm Hg without medications indicated complete success while IOP≤21 mm Hg with medications indicated qualified success;and IOPter a year of follow-up,IOP was significantly reduced in the intraluminal stenting group than in the external ligation group(11.67±0.89 vs 14.2±4.0 mm Hg,respectively,P=0.024).Postoperative hypotony was more common in the external ligation group(2 cases,13.33%)than in the intraluminal stenting group(1 case,6.67%).CONCLUSION:Application of intraluminal stenting or external ligation during AGV surgery usually prevents postoperative hypotony(transient and persistent)that occurs in conventional AGV surgery.

Medical image fusion is considered the best method for obtaining one image with rich details for efficient medical diagnosis and *** learning provides a high performance for several medical image analysis *** paper proposes a deep learning model for the medical image fusion *** model depends on Convolutional Neural Network(CNN).the basic idea of the proposed model is to extract features from both Ct and MR ***,an additional process is executed on the extracted *** that,the fused feature map is reconstructed to obtain the resulting fused ***,the quality of the resulting fused image is enhanced by various enhancement techniques such as Histogram Matching(HM),Histogram Equalization(HE),fuzzy technique,fuzzy type,and Contrast Limited Histogram Equalization(CLAHE).the performance of the proposed fusion-based CNN model is measured by various metrics of the fusion and enhancement *** realistic datasets of different modalities and diseases are tested and ***,real datasets are tested in the simulation analysis.

We report a simple-to-perform technique to investigate the distribution of the azimuthal magnetic field induction,Bθ,and the induced magnetic force acting on the plasma current sheath(PCS)in a plasma focus(PF)*** in situ measurement technique can undoubtedly be beneficial when other fast-imaging techniques are not *** are not *** work was conducted in the low-energy Mather-type EAEA-PF1 device operated in *** axial distribution(Bθ)z along the coaxial electrodes system was measured with a four magnetic-probe set technique at different radial distances(r=2.625×10^(−2) to 4.125×10^(−2) m)within the annular space between the coaxial electrodes during the 1st and 2nd half cycles of the discharge current waveform,where inner electrode of coaxial electrode system has a+ve polarity and−ve polarity,***,radial and total magnetic force distribution profiles were estimated from Bθ*** of PCS shape in terms of its inclination(curvature)angle,θ,along the axial rundown phase and the correlation between the magnetic forces per unit volume acting on the PCS,the inclination angleθof the PCS,and the formation of a powerful PF action during the 1st and 2nd half cycles is carried *** of inclination angle,θ,on total magnetic force per unit volume acting on PCS axial motion was studied,separately,during the 1st and 2nd half cycles.

OBJECtIVE: to assess the effect of vitamin D supplementation on enhancement of embryos implantation rates in intracytoplasmic sperm injection procedures. StUDY DESIGN: A randomized double-blinded controlled trial. SEttING: Assisted Reproduction Unit of Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, Faculty of Medicine, South Valley University, Egypt. DURAtION: From December 1st 2017 to the end of October 2018. SUBJECtS and MEtHDS: Eighty infertile couples that underwent ICSI procedure were entrapped in this study. Patients were divided into two groups;Group I (Vitamin D group) = 40 patients (received vitamin D supplementation in the form of Vidrop oral drops 600 IU/day starting after ovum pickup) and Group II (placebo group) = 40 patients (received a placebo “normal saline oral drop”). RESULtS: there was a significantly increased embryo implantation rates (53.2% in vitamin D group versus 46.7% in placebo group), there was a mild statistically significant difference in the clinical pregnancy rates (45.9% in vitamin D group versus 39.4% in placebo group) with p-value there was an improvement in ongoing pregnancy rate as there was a mild statistically significant difference in first trimester miscarriage rates (12.5% in vitamin D group versus 17.5% in placebo group) with p value CONCLUSIONS: Vitamin D supplementation could improve embryos implantation rates and rate of ongoing pregnancy by decline in the first trimester miscarriage rate.

A pressure dependent Schrodinger equation is used to find the conditions that lead to superconductivity. When no pressure is exerted, the superconductor resistance vanishes beyond a critical temperature related to the repulsive force potential of the electron gass, where one assuming the electron total energy to be thermal, where applying mechanical pressure destroys Sc when it exceeds a certain critical value. However when the electron total energy is an assumed to be that of the free electron model and that the pressure is thermal and mechanical, the situation is different. the quantum expression for resistance shows that the increase of mechanical pressure increases the critical temperature. Such phenomenon is observed in high temperature cupper group.

Objective to determine the medicinal potential of various plants and their parts extracted with different solvents. Methods the total phenolic content of acetonitrile/water（60%-40%）（ACN/W） and aqueous（W） extract fractions was determined by high-performance liquid chromatography（HPLC）, and terpenic compounds were detected by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry（GC/MS）. Antioxidant activity of the samples was evaluated using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl（DPPH） assay and β-carotene bleaching method. Cell viability was investigated by thiazolyl blue tetrazolium bromide [3-（4,5-dimethylthiazol）-2-yl 2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide]（Mtt） assay. the mechanisms involved in cytotoxic activity were investigated in a murine macrophage cell line（RAW 264.7） and cancer lines. Results Our findings show that 11 plant species exhibited biological activity. In addition, moderate antibacterial activity was reported against one or more of the tested bacterial strains at two concentrations： 300 μg and 3 mg/disc. Furthermore, our data reveal that among all plants investigated, some extract and hydrophobic fractions were potent scavengers of the DPPH radical（6.78 μg/m L 〈 EC50 〈 8.55 μg/mL）. taken together, our results show that Nerium oleander（NOACN/W） and Pituranthos tortuosus（PtACN/W） were highly cytotoxic against RAW 264.7 cells with IC80 values of 0.36, and 1.55 μg/mL, respectively. In contrast, murine macrophage cell lines had low growth and were significantly sensitive to water extracts of thymus hirtus sp. algeriensis（tHW）, Lavandula multifida（LMW）, and ACN/W extract of Erica multiflora（EMACN/W） at doses 〉 400, 47.20, and 116.74 μg/m L, respectively. the current work demonstrates that RAW 264.7 cell proliferation was inhibited by samples in a dose-dependent manner. Conclusion Our findings, validated through free radical scavenging activity, agar diffusion assay, and cytotoxicity of essential oils towards cancer cells, show that ethnomedicinal plants used in this work have a novel

Passive RFID tags based on narrow band absorbers are proposed for railway applications. the tags consist of absorbing tiles of size 30 × 30 cm2. the de-signs of these narrow band absorbers are presented based on infinite array approximation by using periodic boundary conditions. then, the radar cross sections (RCS) of finite tiles of these designed absorbers are compared with the corresponding RCS of a conduction plate of the same size of the tiles. the difference between the RCS of the absorbing tiles and the conducting tiles corresponds to the RFID digit “1” or “0”. An experiential verification for a sample of these narrow band absorbers is presented based on measuring a fi-nite tile inside a transverse electromagnetic (tEM) cell. the design of this tEM cell is also discussed in detail.

Objective: Mucoepidermoid carcinoma(MEC) is the most common primary malignancy of the salivary glands. Insulin-like growth factor-II m RNA-binding protein-3(IMP3) is an important prognostic factor in some cancers and a tool that differentiates between benign and malignant pancreatic lesions. this study aimed to identify a relationship between the expression of IMP3 and the outcome of salivary gland MEC, as well as to differentiate MEC from pleomorphic adenoma(PA).Methods: tissue specimens from 70 cases of salivary gland MEC, 40 cases of PA, and 10 cases with normal salivary gland were examined immunohistochemically for IMP3. the association among the expression of IMP3, clinicopathological characteristics and patient's survival was ***: IMP3 was present in 51.4% of MEC but absent in PA and normal salivary gland tissues. IMP3 expression was associated with age > 60 years, submandibular gland tumors, tumor size > 4 cm, high-grade tumors, lymph node metastasis, involvement of surgical margins, perineural invasion, distant metastasis, advanced tNM stage, tumor relapse, and death(Ptumors of the submandibular gland, and lymph node metastasis were independent prognostic factors of disease-free survival(DFS). In addition, IMP3 was a strong predictor of overall survival(OS) together with distant metastasis and intermediate and high-grade ***: IMP3 expression is highly important in evaluating the outcome of MEC. IMP3 can be used to differentiate MEC from PA of salivary glands.
