OBJECTIVE:To investigate the efficacy of Fig fruit powder and olive on hepatic,renal and splenic injury induced by 2-nitropropane(2-NP)in mice,especially if they were used in ***:A total of 40 adult BALB/c male mice weighting 25-30 g/*** were categorized into five groups(8 each).Group 1 as negative *** 2 as positive control group intraperitoneally injected with 2-NP(100 mg/kg b.w.)3 times/weekly for eight *** 3 injected with 2-NP and were orally supplemented with Fig(300 mg/kg).Group 4 injected with 2-NP and were orally supplemented with olive(100 mg/kg).Group 5 injected with 2-NP and were orally supplemented with mixture of Fig and olive(3∶1 respectively).RESULTS:Histopathological observation of liver in mice treated with 2-NP showed cellular degeneration,pyknosis,and congestion of the portal *** kidney there were disorganization of the cortical tissues,cellular necrosis and plenty of inflammatory lymphocytic *** elevations in liver function parameters(alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase),m RNA expression levels of tumor necrosis factor-α,nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase and cyclooxygenase were detected as anti-inflammatory markers and 5-lipoxygenase,interleukin-1βand interleukin-6 as inflammatory biomarkers for liver and spleen,also significant elevations was detected in lipid peroxidation *** levels of antioxidants,glutathione,glutathione peroxidase,catalase and superoxide dismutase were significantly ***:our findings indicated that Fig fruit powder and olive protected against hepatic,renal and splenic injury induced with 2-NP in mice,especially if they were used in combination.

Quantum Distribution Functions for Dusty Plasma in Saturn’s Rings by Using Curvilinear Coordinates

This study aims to estimate the quantum Bogoliubov-Born-Green-Kirkwood-Yvon (BBGKY) hierarchy in curvilinear coordinates. We used the results to calculate the quantum binary and triplet distribution functions in curvilinear coordinates. The analytical form of the quantum distribution functions was obtained for dusty plasma in Saturn’s rings model. We use particles-in-cell (PIC) simulations to find a visualization of dusty three-component plasma phase space in curvilinear coordinates. Our results were compared with others.

Evaluation of Urinary Hepcidin as a Marker for the Early Diagnosis of Iron Deficiency Anemia in Children

Background: Iron deficiency is an essential element, because nearly all living organism urine hepcidin levels could potentially be used in the determination of iron requirements and be an accurate indicator of physiological IDA. Aim: The present study aimed to evaluate the role of urinary hepcidin as an early diagnostic marker of iron deficiency anemia in children. Methods: This study included 45 children. Their age ranged from 6 to 16 years with hemoglobin levels ≤ 11.5 gm/dL and ferritin levels ≤ 20 ng/mL. The diagnostic performance of urinary hepcidin was estimated by analyzing the receiver operating characteristic curve. Diagnostic cut-off point with a high predictive value for iron deficiency was selected. Results: This study showed no statistically significant difference between the two studied groups regarding to demographic data. There were decrease in serum iron, ferritin, hemoglobin and Red blood cells (RBCs) indices in patient than the control group. There was non-significant decrease in urinary hepcidin in the study group compared to control group. The sensitivity and specificity of urinary hepcidin in diagnoses of iron deficiency anemia was 57.8 and 62.2 respectively with positive predictive value (63.3) in our study. Explanation of Magnetic Destruction of Superconductor Using Schrodinger Equation in the Energy Space

The Wave function of Schrodinger Equation is expressed in terms of time dependent energy eigen function and spatial dependent wave function in the energy space, which gives spatial energy probability. This equation is utilized to find quantum momentum dependent on temperature. This in turn is used to find quantum complex resistance. This expression shows that the superconducting resistance vanishes for temperatures less than a certain critical value. This result conforms to superconductor conventional theory and empirical relations. The application of external magnetic field destroys superconductivity when its strength exceeds a certain critical value. The expression of the relationship between the critical magnetic field and the critical temperature is typical to the conventional one. This is the first time to obtain the conventional relationship for the superconductor’s resistance and critical magnetic field in one model in the energy space.

在世界范围内,大荔轮枝菌是导致棉花黄萎病的主要病原菌。其中,44个菌株源自中国,4个源自埃及。本研究使用nit突变体和ISSR技术研究了这些菌的营养亲和性和遗传多样性。结果显示,在获得的566个突变体中,其中453个突变体(80.03%)被归入Nit1突变体,107个突变体(18.90%)归入NitM突变体,而10个突变体(1.76%)被归入Nit3突变体。营养亲和性研究结果显示48个大荔轮枝菌归入两个营养亲和群,其中,36个与埃及菌株相亲和的菌株归入落叶致病型的VCG1,而其他的12个菌株归入非落叶致病型的VCG2中。后期结果进一步确定了在中国大陆存在落叶致病型。埃及供试菌株与主要组群的供试菌株形成了异核体,说明了在营养亲和性研究中菌株的选择是很重要的一步。使用15对引物应用ISSR技术研究了大丽轮枝菌的遗传多样性的数量。结果表明菌株之间存在多样性变化。分析结果显示系统发育树将这些菌株在74%的相似性时聚到2个主要的类群。用于ISSR标记系统多态信息含量在研究大丽轮枝菌遗传多样性和鉴定在棉花上分离菌株的变异性是很有帮助的。使用ISSR标记技术在PIC平均为0.93的情况下共获得238个多态性扩增片段,PIC最低为0.861(P25)最高为0.971(P4)。使用ISSR分子标记技术共获得2424条片段,计算为离散的特征数据(存在为1不存在为0),达到0.93平均值以上的多态性条带共有238条。这显示ISSR分子分析在棉花黄萎菌中存在很高的多态性并且多态性比率达到83.00%。本研究获得了本研究所有供试菌株的遗传相似性矩阵。平均相似值0.76用来作为定义聚类的分隔值。最高相似达到0.97.但是,最低相似只有0.56.结果显示同一营养亲和性组内存在ISSR标记的遗传多态性。最终结论是,在中国和埃及的菌株中,大丽轮枝菌存在形态和遗传上的多态性。

Breast Cancer in Males (BCM), Does It Really Differ? National Cancer Institute Experience (NCI), Cairo University, Egypt

Background: Carcinoma of the male breast is relatively a rare disease accounting for about 1% of all cancer in men. Its treatments are based mainly on those of Female Breast Cancer (BCF). Materials and Methods: This is a single institution retrospective study including all presenting to the NCI, Cairo University with Breast Cancer in a Male (BCM) in the last 11 years between Jan. 2005 until Jan. 2016. Data were collected from patient’s files from the statistical department then analyzed. Aims: To study the clinico-pathological characteristics, the presentation, workup, surgical approaches and postoperative complications and outcome of management, with addressing similarities and difference from BCF. Results: 64 patients were included in this cohort. The mean age was 58.6 & the median age was 59 years (range: 31 - 87 years). The main presenting symptomatology was retroareolar breast lump (50 cases, 78.1%). Most of our cases were advanced;22 cases (34.3%) were stage III & 16 cases (25%) were stage IV. Surgery was performed for 50 patients;MRM for 26 cases (40.6%), RM for 18 cases (28.1%) & toilet mastectomy for 6 cases (9.3%). Primary closure was feasible in 34 patients (68%) while 16 cases (32%) required reconstruction by local or pedicled flaps. Tamoxifen is the most important non-surgical treatment. It was given to all our cases (64 cases, 100%) either postoperatively as adjuvant management (36 cases, 56.2%) or as palliation for metastatic disease (28 cases, 43.8%). Chemotherapy was given to 32 patients (100%) as an adjuvant for 24 cases (75%) and as a palliation for 8 cases (25%). Radiotherapy was given to 26 patients (100%) as adjuvant therapy for 20 cases (76.9%) and as a palliation for 6 cases (23.1%). The only significant factor determining the overall 5 years survival was the stage of the disease. Purpose:Sepsis is a common acute life-threatening condition that emergency physicians routinely *** options within the Emergency Department(ED)are limited due to lack of infrastructure,consequently limiting the use of invasive hemodynamic monitoring or imaging *** mortality rate due to sepsis can be assessed via multiple scoring systems,for example,mortality in emergency department sepsis(MEDS)score and sepsis patient evaluation in the emergency department(SPEED)score,both of which quantify the variation of mortality rates according to clinical findings,laboratory data,or therapeutic *** study aims to improve the management processes of sepsis patients by comparing SPEED score and MEDS score for predicting the 28-day mortality in cases of emergency ***:The study is a cross-sectional,prospective study including 61 sepsis patients in ED in Suez Canal University Hospital,Egypt,from August 2017 to June *** were selected by two steps:(1)suspected septic patients presenting with at least one of the following abnormal clinical findings:(a)body temperature higher than 38℃ or lower than 36℃,(b)heart rate higher than 90 beats/min,(c)hyperventilation evidenced by respiratory rate higher than 20 breaths/min or PaCO2 lower than 32 mmHg,and(d)white blood cell count higher than 12,000/μL or lower than 4000/μL;(2)confirmed septic patients with at least a 2-point increase from the baseline total sequential organ failure assessment(SOFA)score following *** inclusion criteria included adult patients with an age≥18 years regardless of gender and those who had either systemic inflammatory response syndrome or suspected/confirmed *** were shortly follow-up for the 28-day *** patient was subject to SPEED score and MEDS score and then the results were compared to detect which of them was more effective in predicting *** receiver operating characteristic curves were also done for MEDS and SPE

This paper presents the performance of Excitation system for Houshi power plant(China).A standard simulation model of the proposed system is used by commercial software"Power System Stability"(PSS/E) and the performance under steady-state and dynamic conditions is *** different identification methods,i.e.,genetic algorithm and Prediction Error Method(PEM) are used and *** the genetic algorithm,first a block-diagram for the EXS is suggested,therefore in the investigated Excitation system measurement was performed at no-load operation condition to obtain step response to be able to identify the parameters of the *** simulation results and their comparison,show the good accuracy of both *** the model based on parameter obtained through genetic algorithm shows a better fit when its output response is compared with output response based on prediction Error method.

Determination of Full Energy Peak Efficiency of NaI(Tl) Detector Depending on Efficiency Transfer Principle for Conversion Form Experimental Values

In this work we calibrated the NaI(Tl) scintillation detectors (5.08 × 5.08 cm2 and 7.62 × 7.62 cm2) and the Full Energy Peak Efficiency (FEPE) for these detectors have been calculated for point sources placed at different positions on the detector axis using the analytical approach of the effective solid angle ratio. This approach is based on the direct mathematical method reported by Selim and Abbas [1,2] and has been used successfully before to calibrate the cylindrical, parallelepiped, and 4π NaI(Tl) detectors by using point, plane and volumetric sources. In addition, the present method is free of some major inconveniences of the conventional methods.

Intraluminal stenting versus external ligation of ahmed glaucoma valve in prevention of postoperative hypotony

AIM:To compare intraluminal stenting and external ligation of ahmed glaucoma valves(AGV)for refractory glaucoma management and postoperative hypotony ***:This randomized prospective blind study included 30 eyes of 25 patients(age range:44-56y)with refractory *** study was conducted from September 2018 to January *** study included two groups,AGV with intraluminal stenting group(n=15 eyes)and AGV with external ligation group(n=15 eyes).Follow-up period was one year *** primary outcome was intraocular pressure(IOP)and its association with the number of postoperative glaucoma ***≤21 mm Hg without medications indicated complete success while IOP≤21 mm Hg with medications indicated qualified success;and IOP<6 mm Hg was defined as ***:After a year of follow-up,IOP was significantly reduced in the intraluminal stenting group than in the external ligation group(11.67±0.89 vs 14.2±4.0 mm Hg,respectively,P=0.024).Postoperative hypotony was more common in the external ligation group(2 cases,13.33%)than in the intraluminal stenting group(1 case,6.67%).CONCLUSION:Application of intraluminal stenting or external ligation during AGV surgery usually prevents postoperative hypotony(transient and persistent)that occurs in conventional AGV surgery.
