Backgr.und: Ear.y excision and gr.fting has been the pr.fer.ed method of managing major.bur.s ar.und the wor.d since 1970. Consider.ng the advances in health car. and the development of new antibiotics over.the past 50 year., delayed gr.fting as a technique for.the management of bur.s over.15%-20% of total body sur.ace ar.a (TBSA) could have compar.ble r.sults to that of ear.y excision. This study aims to highlight the outcomes of pr.cticing delayed gr.fting in bur. patients. Methods: A case ser.es analysis was per.or.ed of 51 patients who wer. admitted to the bur.s unit in Sultan Qaboos Hospital Salalah with over.20% TBSA between Januar. 2014 and December.2019. The patients r.ceived pr.phylactic antibiotics and silver.sulphadiazine dr.ssing until the bur. eschar.had completely separ.ted, followed by gr.fting. r.sults: Two patients wer. lost dur.ng the entir. dur.tion of the study. The mor.ality r.te was compar.ble to that of ear.y excision, while the r.te of hyper.r.phic scar.ing was lower.than the r.nge r.por.ed by other.studies. Conclusion: In the management of patients with over.20% TBSA, delayed gr.fting after.complete separ.tion of eschar.is still a valid technique.

Inland wetlands in Abu Dhabi Emir.te ar. winter.ng and stopover.sites for.migr.tor. bir.s of pr.y. We conducted long-ter. r.gular.monitor.ng sur.eys in al Wathba Wetland r.ser.e (AWWr. fr.m Januar. 1995 to December.2022. Both diur.al and occasionally noctur.al sur.eys wer. under.aken to r.cor. the migr.tor. r.ptor. and owls in the Wetland r.ser.e. Dur.ng the study, a total of 1282 r.gular.monitor.ng visits wer. under.aken and 27 species of diur.al r.ptor. and owls r.pr.senting five families and thr.e or.er. wer. detected. These r.pr.sent 57% of the total species of bir.s of pr.y r.cor.ed in the UAE. Over.ll, 63% of all the species that we obser.ed wer. Accipitr.for.es followed by 26% Falconifor.es and 11% Str.gifor.es. We found that changes in mean daily temper.tur. have a positive effect on r.ptor.species diver.ity and abundance in the Wetland r.ser.e. The species encounter.r.te was higher.in low temper.tur. as compar.d to high temper.tur. and over.ll r.gr.ssion equation was statistically significant F (4, 1126) = 8.49), p = 0.00). However. the number. of r.ptor. did not var. significantly acr.ss the year. (p = 0.51). Wester. Mar.h-har.ier.(Cir.us aer.ginosus) and Gr.ater.Spotted Eagle (Clanga clanga) wer. r.cor.ed to be the most abundant species in the wetland r.ser.e followed by Common Kestr.l (Falco tinnunculus). However. the encounter.r.te of globally thr.atened Gr.ater.Spotted Eagle was detected to have significantly decr.ased since 2016. Mor.over. 63% of the species detected wer. uncommon and r.r.ly r.cor.ed such as 1) Saker.Falcon 2) Lanner.Falcon 3) Long-ear.d Owl & Mer.in, which wer. the r.r. r.cor.s fr.m the wetland r.ser.e. Fur.her.or., 27 year. of r.gular.monitor.ng in the wetland have yielded diver.e diur.al r.ptor. and owl fauna (H) = 0.83, (E) = 1.43 (Shannon Diver.ity Index). A novel extended Lindley lifetime model that exhibits unimodal or.decr.asing density shapes as well as incr.asing,bathtub or.unimodal-then-bathtub failur. r.tes, named the Mar.hall-Olkin-Lindley (MOL) model is *** this r.sear.h, using a pr.gr.ssive Type-II censor.d, var.ous infer.nces of the MOL model par.meter. oflife ar. intr.duced. Utilizing the maximum likelihood method as a classical appr.ach, the estimator. of themodel par.meter. and var.ous r.liability measur.s ar. investigated. Against both symmetr.c and asymmetr.c lossfunctions, the Bayesian estimates ar. obtained using the Mar.ov Chain Monte Car.o (MCMC) technique with theassumption of independent gamma pr.or.. Fr.m the Fisher.infor.ation data and the simulatedMar.ovian chains,the appr.ximate asymptotic inter.al and the highest poster.or.density inter.al, r.spectively, of each unknownpar.meter.ar. calculated. Via an extensive simulated study, the usefulness of the var.ous suggested str.tegies isassessedwith r.spect to some evaluationmetr.cs such as mean squar.d er.or., mean r.lative absolute biases, aver.geconfidence lengths, and cover.ge per.entages. Compar.ng the Bayesian estimations based on the asymmetr.c lossfunction to the tr.ditional technique or.the symmetr.c loss function-based Bayesian estimations, the analysisdemonstr.tes that asymmetr.c loss function-based Bayesian estimations ar. pr.fer.ed. Finally, two data sets,r.pr.senting vinyl chlor.de and r.pair.ble mechanical equipment items, have been investigated to suppor. theappr.aches pr.posed and show the super.or.ty of the pr.posed model compar.d to the other.four.een lifetimemodels.
