Gastric cancer(GC) is a global health problem and a major cause of cancer-related death with high recurrence rates ranging from 25% to 40% for GC patients staging Ⅱ-Ⅳ. Unfortunately, while the majority of GC patients usually present with advanced tumor stage; there is still limited evidence-based therapeutic options. Current approach to GC management consists mainly of; endoscopy followed by, gastrectomy and chemotherapy or chemo-radiotherapy. Recent studies in GC have confirmed that it is a heterogeneous disease. Many molecular characterization studies have been performed in GC. Recent discoveries of the molecular pathways underlying the disease have opened the door to more personalized treatment and better predictable outcome. The identification of molecular markers is a useful tool for clinical managementin GC patients, assisting in diagnosis, evaluation of response to treatment and development of novel therapeutic modalities. While chemotherapeutic agents have certain physiological effects on the tumor cells, the prediction of the response is different from one type of tumor to the other. The specificity of molecular biomarkers is a principal feature driving their application in anticancer therapies. Here we are trying to focus on the role of molecular pathways of GC and well-established molecular markers that can guide the therapeutic management.

Methods capable of tuning the properties of van der Waals(vdW)layered materials in a controlled and reversible manner are highly *** electronic properties of two-dimensional vdW heterostructure consisting of silicene and indium selenide(InSe)have been calculated using density functional theory-based computational ***,in order to vary the aforementioned properties,silicene is slid over a InSe layer in the presence of Li *** intercalation of the heterostructure,the buckling parameter associated with the corrugation of silicene decreases from 0.44A to 0.36A,whereas the InSe structure remains *** energy scans reveal a significant increase in the sliding energy barrier for the case of intercalated heterostructure as compared with the unintercalated *** sliding of the silicene encounters the maximum energy barrier of 0.14 *** analysis shows the noteworthy differences between calculated in-plane and out-of-plane part of dielectric function.A variation of the planar average charge density difference,dipole charge transfer and dipole moment have been discussed to elucidate the usability spectrum of the *** employed approach based on intercalation and layer sliding can be effectively utilized for obtaining next-generation multifunctional devices.

Relationship of Serum Leptin, BMI, Waist Circumference and Cholesterol Level among Teenagers in the Gaza Strip

Leptin is one of the best known hormone markers for obesity. There is a limited anthropometric data in the Gaza Strip that reveals and arouses the nutritional status among all age groups especially adolescents aged 15 - 19 years old. The study aimed to assess the effect of Leptin hormone, lipid profiles, Body Mass Index (BMI) and waist circumference among secondary school age students in the Gaza Strip. Methodology: A cross sectional study included 442 cases of teenagers aged 15 - 19 years old from governmental and private schools in the Gaza strip. Blood samples were collected for analysis of Leptin hormone and lipid profile and measuring waist circumference for the teenager. Results: The mean of serum Leptin was (28.7) higher among cases than controls (28.1), but it was statistically insignificant (P = 0.85). It was found that there is a significant correlation between Leptin hormone and total cholesterol (Chol) (r = 0.24), high density cholesterol (HDL) (r = 0.27) and low density cholesterol (LDL) (r = 0.16). There was no relationship between Leptin hormone and triglycerides (TG) (r = -0.02). There was relationship between Leptin hormone and waist circumference in both males and females (r = 0.519, 0.544), respectively. There was no statistical significant deference noticed between Leptin hormone of obese objects and Leptin hormone of normal BMI objects of the same age (t-test = 0.93, P = 0.85). Conclusion: There are significant correlations between Leptin hormone and total Chol, HDL and LDL except for TG, and there were significant relationships between Leptin hormone and waist circumference which reflect the central obesity among males and females. There is no association between Leptin level and BMI.

In this study, Ten Time Domain Electromagnetic (TDEM) measuring points have been conducted at four pre-selected sites along Wadi Deir Al-Kahaf in order to investigate the potential of the near subsurface deposits and aquifer for groundwater artificial recharge applications. The surveyed results suggest well resolved geological layers such as alluvial mudflat, basalt layers and their saturation states. In addition a hydrogeophysical cross section along the studied sites was constructed which permits to locate the lateral variations in rock properties due to water saturation and or facies changes. The saturated thickness of the Upper Aquifer System in the study area was found to be changed from 5 m near TEM 1 to about 120 m near TEM 4 in thickness. The Abed Basalt Aquifer (AOB) has an average saturation thickness of about ~60 m, and forming the main aquifer (~100 m thickness) near surface to the north of the study area. TEM-3 and TEM-4 sites were found to be potential sites for groundwater artificial recharge based on the constructed hydro-geophysical model. This study recommends implementing detailed geophysical investigations particularly in the most northern parts of the study area.

L. donovani infections (visceral and post kala-azar dermal leishmaniases) are characterized by infection-induced reversible immune suppression. Autoimmunity is a well-documented phenomenon among patients with primary immune deficiencies. This study aimed to study auto-immune phenomena accompanying L. donovani infections. In a prospective case-controlled study and following informed consent, 155 individuals with visceral leishmaniasis (VL;n = 62), post kala-azar dermal leishmaniasis (PKDL;n = 31) and apparently healthy volunteers (n = 62) were recruited. Sera antinuclear (ANA), anti-dsDNA, anti-thyroid peroxidase (TPO), anti-smooth muscles (ASMA) and F-actin auto-antibodies were measured using ELISA and indirect immune-fluorescence assay. The mean ages of VL, PDKL patients and apparently healthy volunteers were: 17.5 ± 12.5, 15.0 ± 7.0 and 17.5 ± 9.5 years with Male:Female ratios of 2:0, 1:2 and 1:5 respectively. Significantly high frequencies of F-actin (74.2%;46/62) and ASMA (50%;31/62) auto-antibodies were seen among VL patients (p = 0.003, p = 0.001) compared to apparently healthy volunteers. Likewise, significantly high frequencies of F-actin (64.5%;20/31;p = 0.001), ASMA (42%;13/31;p = 0.003), ANA (36%;11/31;p = 0.001) and anti-dsDNA (16%;5/31;p = 0.01) auto-antibodies were seen among PKDL patients. Development of tissue-based autoantibodies in L. donovani infections probably indicates loss of peripheral tolerance with activation of circulating auto-reactive T and B cells probably contributing to disease pathogenesis (increased bilirubin/liver enzymes, prolonged QT interval/arrythmias and blood cytopenias). We investigated the influence of hall, heat and mass transfer on the peristaltic flow of MHD third order fluid under long-wavelength and low Reynolds number approximation. The governing equations are solved analytically with the appropriate boundary conditions by using perturbation technique. The formula of velocity with temperature and concentration is obtained analytically as a function of the physical parameters of the problem.

A third of the world’s population is latently infected with TB with an increased risk of developing active TB. Household contacts (HHCs) of pulmonary TB cases are at a greater risk of developing disease. Early identification and treatment of latent TB infected individuals may reduce progression to active TB. This study aimed to determine latent TB infections (LTBI) point prevalence among HHCs and community contacts (CCs) using Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) and whole blood IFN-γ release assay in an area of high TB prevalence. In a prospective, longitudinal and community-based study and following informed consent, 768 volunteers (HHCs n = 245;CCs n = 523) were enrolled. Tuberculin Skin Test (TST), whole blood stimulation with PPD and IFN-γ levels determination using ELISA were performed. Mean ages of HHCs and the CCs were not significantly different (HHCs 35.6 ± 15.7 and CCs 30.6 ± 11.7 years;p = 0.99), with a Male:Female ratio of 1:2. Mean recruitment TST indurations were 4.6 ± 5.5 mm and 2.8 ± 3 mm for HHCs and CCs respectively (p = 0.000). Follow-up (Day 614) mean TST indurations increased significantly to 9.1 ± 7.2 mm and 4.4 ± 3.2 mm for HHCs and CCs respectively (p = 0.001). Using TST indurations ≥ 10 mm, LTBI point prevalence for HHCs and CCs was significantly different (HHCs 461/1000 and 367/1000 individuals, p = 0.03). The mean IFN-γ levels for HHCs and CCs at recruitment day (Day 0) were 0.66 ± 0.17 IU/ml and 0.06 ± 0.04 respectively. The mean of IFN-γ production levels dropped significantly at Day 614 for HHCs and CCs to 0.66 ± 0.15 IU/ml and 0.02 ± 0.02 respectively (p = 0.03) (p = 0.00001). Recruitment LTBI point prevalence using IFN-γ level ≥ 0.35 IU/ml for HHCs and CCs was 440/1000 and 203/1000 respectively (p = 0.000000001). No correlations between TST indurations and IFN-γ levels were detected among HHCs or CCs (p > 0.05). TST is a simple, efficient and cheap technique for LTBI diagnosis and triaging individuals for treatment.

In the present work, the collinear equilibrium points of the restricted three-body problem are studied under the effect of oblateness of the bigger primary using an analytical and numerical approach. The periodic orbits around these points are investigated for the Earth-Moon system. The Lissajous orbits and the phase spaces are obtained under the effect of oblateness.
