Factors Predicting Transformation of Non-Severe Pre-Eclampsia into Pre-Eclampsia with Severe Features

Background: Pre-eclampsia (PE), a complex, multisystem, pregnancy-associated hypertensive disorder, typically developing after the 20th week of gestation, that complicates 2% - 8% of pregnancies, is a leading cause of neonatal and maternal mortality and morbidity. Aim of the Work: To identify different factors predicting transformation of non-severe pre-eclampsia in to pre-eclampsia with severe features. Patients and Methods: This prospective cohort study was conducted at tertiary care hospital at Ain Shams University hospitals from June 2021 till January 2022 and performed on total of 100 patients who diagnosed as non-severe pre-eclampsia after exclusion of severity features. Results: The current study revealed that transformation to severe pre-eclampsia occurred in 33% of the studied cases. Body mass index (BMI), past and family histories of preeclampsia statistically were significantly higher in cases transformed into preeclampsia with severe features. Admission blood pressure, albumin dipstick, Oligohydramnios and IUGR statistically were significantly higher in cases with transformation from non-severe pre-eclampsia into pre-eclampsia with severe features. Platelet count statistically was significantly lower in cases with transformation from non-severe pre-eclampsia into pre-eclampsia with severe features Conclusion: Our study results identified the most important clinical risk factors for transformation to severe features of pre-eclampsia from non-severe features and provided new information on the level of risk associated with specific combinations of risk factors (BMI ≥ 35.4, admission systolic blood pressure, admission diastolic blood pressure, albumin dipstick 4+ and platelets count) with low significant diagnostic performance in predicting transformation from non-severe pre-eclampsia into pre-eclampsia with severe features.

Oil blending is the method of choice used worldwide to improve oxidative stability and nutritional *** is no such edible oil/fat that meets all the recommendations from the health point of *** fatty acid composition of vegetable oils decides the fate of the *** single oil is unable to provide a balanced amount of fatty acids(FAs)required/recommended on a daily intake *** oils/fats is an appropriate procedure of physically mixing multiple oils in suitable proportions which may provide functional lipids with improved antioxidant potential and desirable physical and chemical *** review piled up the accessible data on the blending of diverse oils/fats in the combination of binary,ternary,quaternary,or other types of oils into a single blended *** can be found very convincing towards appropriate FA profile,enhancement in physicochemical characteristics,and augmented stability for the period of storage or when used as cooking/frying processes which could ultimately serve as an effectual dietary intervention towards the health protectiveness.

Effects of pre-storage dipping in calcium chloride and salicylic acid on the quality attributes of stored Khalal Barhi dates

Barhi is a high-quality date cultivar,typically harvested and consumed fresh at the Khalal maturity stage when the fruits are crispy and sweet with bright yellow *** shelf-life of the Khalal stage(2-3 weeks)is very short for effective *** study aimed at investigating the role of calcium chloride(CaCl2)and salicylic acid(SA)as pre-storage treatments in preserving the color and texture of the fruit during both cold and controlled atmosphere(CA)storage ***-harvested Barhi fruits at the Khalal stage were treated with CaCl2(2%)or SA(2.0 mM),and then stored in cold and CA *** weight loss and decay percentages in the treated samples decreased,whereas the total soluble solids of the treated samples increased compared with those of the untreated *** best treatment in limiting changes in the color and texture of the fruits was CaCl2 treatment during CA storage.

Effects of Gibberellic Acid (GA_(3)) and Salicylic Acid (SA) postharvest treatments on the quality of fresh Barhi dates at different ripening levels in the Khalal maturity stage during controlled atmosphere storage

Barhi dates at Khalal maturity stage are well-known with their pleasant taste,crispy texture,and bright yellow *** is necessary to extend the duration of Barhi Khalal stage which is too short for effective *** study aimed to inspect the effects of Gibberellic Acid(GA_(3))and Salicylic Acid(SA)postharvest treatments on retaining the high quality of Khalal Barhi fruits during controlled atmosphere *** samples of Barhi fruits at Khalal stage harvested at three different ripening levels were dipped after harvesting in GA3(150 ppm)or SA(2.0 mmol/L)and subsequently stored in controlled atmosphere(0°С,5%O_(2),5%CO_(2),80%±5%RH).The results revealed that the GA_(3) and SA treatments reduced the percentage of weight loss and decay in the fruits,while the total soluble solids ***,GA_(3) and SA treatments were significantly efficient in limiting the changes in fruit color and texture of Barhi dates compared to the *** results support the experimental data and disclosed that the GA_(3)(150 ppm)treatment in the controlled atmosphere(CA)storage was better in conserving the quality of Barhi at the Khalal maturity stage and delaying ripening process.

Peristaltic Pumping of a Conducting Sisko Fluid through Porous Medium with Heat and Mass Transfer

The mathematical model is presented for the flow of peristaltic pumping of a conducting non-Newtonian fluid obeying Sisko model through a porous medium under the effect of magnetic field with heat and mass transfer. The solutions of the system of equations which represent this motion are obtained analytically using perturbation technique after considering the approximation of long wave length. The formula of the velocity with temperature and concentration of the fluid is obtained as a function of the physical parameters of the problem. The effects of these parameters on these solutions are discussed numerically and illustrated graphically through some graphs.

Annealing Effects on the Optical and Structural Properties of DLC Films

Diamond like carbon (DLC) films have been deposited on amorphous glass substrate using plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) technique. The deposited films are pinholes free, uniform and good adherent to the substrate. As deposited DLC films get annealed in N2 atmosphere for 20 min in temperature range 300-500 °C, by 50o step at a time. FT-IR and Optical transmission have been used to determine the changes in the DLC films by annealing. FT-IR results show a reduction in the hydrogen content upon annealing. The hydrogen losses start at 300 °C. By using Tauc equation the nature of the optical transition has been confirmed and the value of the band gap has been evaluated.

With the increasing development of EVs, the energy demand from theconventional utility grid increases in proportion. On the other hand, photovoltaic(PV) energy sources can overcome several problems when charging EVs from theutility grid especially in remote areas. This paper presents an effective photovoltaic stand-alone charging station for EV applications. The proposed charging station incorporates PV array, a lithium-ion battery representing the EV battery, and alead-acid battery representing the energy storage system (ESS). A bidirectionalDC-DC converter is employed for charging/discharging the ESS and a unidirectional DC-DC converter is utilized for charging the EV battery. The proposed controllers achieve maximum power extraction from the PV and regulate the DC-linkvoltage. It also controls the voltage and current levels of both the ESS and the EVduring the charging/discharging process. The study has been applied to two caseswith different power levels. Analysis, simulation, and implementation of the proposed system are presented. A 120 W laboratory prototype is carried out to verifythe system performance, experimentally. Design guides for higher power levelsare proposed to help in choosing the proper parameters of the converters. Boththe simulation and experimental results are matched and verify the highperformance of the proposed system.

The Utilization of Exotic Options in the Formation of Structured Products

This paper deals with the issue of investment certificate formation in the financial market. Investment certificate is a type of structured products, the value of which is derived from the value of an underlying asset. The underlying asset is usually a share in a company, a basket of shares, or an entire index, etc.. It can be stated that for every estimated development of an asset （growth, fall, and stagnation） or for every attitude to risks （conservative or aggressive investors）, there is a suitable kind of certificate. The main objective is to perform an analysis of the structured product--Austria/Germany Bond 3 and its guarantee certificate construction using digital-barrier options. The authors have found an alternative opportunity to the purchase of this certificate, i.e., investment in a bank deposit, together with a purchase of cash or nothing down and four-knock-out call options and a sale of cash or nothing down and four-knock-out put options. The authors prove that the alternative investment has the same profit profile as the certificate. The authors made this analysis with the objective to contribute to the intellectualization of investors.

Inverse Gas Chromatographic Study of the Oxidation Stability of Lubricating Base Oils via Solubility Parameter Calculations

The Flory-Huggins interaction parameter(χ1,2∞) and solubility parameter(δ2) and its hydrogen bonding sensing component(δh) were determined using inverse gas chromatography(IGC).These parameters were successfully used in the probes of chemical changes that occur during the oxidation of naphthenic and paraffinic base oils in a GC *** in χ1,2∞ values reflect the different types of intermolecular interactions(dispersive,polar,hydrogen bonding) of the given lubricating base oil during *** obtained results showed that δh component of solubility parameter is the most important parameter for probing the oxidative-chemical changes during the oxidation of given lubricating oils.

Microsurgical Management of Vestibular Schwannomas with Brainstem Compression: Surgical Challenges and Outcome

Background: Vestibular schwannomas exerting brainstem compression with or without hydrocephalus are challenging for neurosurgeons regarding the plan of surgery, operative risk and postoperative sequale. Purpose: To report our experience with the surgical challenges and outcomes for Hannover type T4a & T4b vestibular schwannomas. Methods: Retrospective case study conducted at neurosurgery department, Mansoura University between October 2016 and May 2019 of 16 patients with vestibular schwannoma compressing the brainstem. We reviewed their clinical, radiological, surgical data, incidence of complications and outcome. Results: We had 16 patients: 10 of Hanover grade T4b and 6 of grade T4a. Gross total resection was achieved in 2 cases while subtotal resection was achieved in 5 cases and in the remaining 9 cases;only partial resection was feasible. We had 4 cases of mortality. Among new onset morbidity after surgery, 3 cases had post-operative bulbar manifestation and 4 cases had brainstem dysfunction. Conclusion: Vestibular schwannomas compressing the brain stem are challenging in their clinical presentation, surgery and post-operative outcome. The outcome of patients treated with hydrocephalus prior to vestibular schwannoma surgery is better than those who did initial VS surgery. Patients presented with significant brainstem, bulbar manifestation had worse outcome and needed longer ICU stay and longer time for recovery.
