Mathematical modeling of female breast cancer in Japan

Cancer incidence rates are significantly diferent all over the *** cancer is affected by many factors,the most important being genetics and *** aim of this paper is to study the mutation mechanisms of breast cancer for Japanese women by fitting the incidence data of three high-quality population areas in Japan from 1985 to *** achieve this goal,we have set up multi-stage models within the mathematical model of Moolgavkar,Venzon,and *** models take both mutation rates and clonal expansion rates as parameters in each compartment into *** on our simulation outcomes,two to twelve driver mutations are sufficient in the pathway to female breast cancer in *** the other hand,a previous study demonstrated that breast cancer in American women requires two to fourteen gene mutations to get a cancerous ***,the 3-stage mat hematical model is the optimal model as it fits clinical data very nicely for all affected cases of females in Japan and the *** genetic instability has a promincnt effect on the tumorigenesis of Japanese females caused by the first four driver *** calculated results for Japanese women are compared with previous works for American women.

Safety and Efficacy of a Novel Treatment for Advanced Liver Fibrosis

Background: Liver fibrosis is the presence of excess collagen due to new fibers formation. It is classified as a component of many forms of liver disease and injury rather than a disease by itself. To-date, there is no effective treatment for liver fibrosis. The only known way for patients suffering from advanced liver fibrosis is liver transplantation. Aim: The study was conducted to prove safety of Regehep (DAH04) as a novel treatment for treatment of advanced liver fibrosis in both of healthy adult volunteers. In addition, effectiveness and tolerability of Regehep (DAH04) in patients with advanced liver fibrosis. Method: Fourteen adult volunteers were enrolled for part A and B. Part A, twelve adult healthy volunteers were randomly assigned into four groups (n = 3) as section of safety. Part B, two patients were enrolled to asses tolerability and effectiveness of Regehep in case of advanced liver fibrosis. Single ascending dose was used to asses safety in part A while therapeutic dose was used to achieve primary and secondary end point in part B. Results: There were no serious side effects as well as no serious biochemical changes after administration of single ascending doses of Regehep (DAH04) up to 25 folds of therapeutic dose. While part B, two cases of advanced liver fibrosis showed improvement of biochemical profile and ultrasound images of the liver till curing of periportal fibrosis as secondary end point. Conclusion: Regehep (DAH04) appears to be safe in doses up to 25 folds of therapeutic dose as well as effective in treatment of periportal fibrosis in late stages.

Synthesis of Novel Series of Benzothieno [2,3-d] Pyrimidine Derivatives, Promising Anticancer Agents

An extension of the authors＇ previous discovery of in vitro antitumor activity of substituted thino [2,3-d] prymidine derivatives is reported. The synthesis of some new spirothino [2,3-d] prymidine （4a-f）, imidazolidin, substituted prymidinyl and substituted thiazolidine thino [2,3-d] prymidine derivatives have been described. Thirteen of the obtained compounds were selected by the NCI and evaluated for their in vitro anticancer activity. Seven of the investigated compounds, 4a, 8a, 9a, （12a, b）, 14a and 15a, displayed high anticancer activity in the primary assay. These compounds have been selected for a full anticancer screening against a 60-cell panel assay where they showed non-selective broad spectrum and promising activity against all cancer cell lines. Compounds 12a and 12b proved to be the active members in this study compared to 5-fluorouracil and cyclophosphamide as reference drugs, respectively. Compounds 12a and 12b were identified as promising lead compounds, evaluated for their in-vitro antitumor activity.

Prevalence of social media addiction among nursing students

Objective:The objective of this study was to assess the prevalence and level of social media addiction among nursing students in the Faculty of Nursing,Cairo *** and Methods:A descriptive cross‑sectional research design was conducted on samples of 340 students at the Faculty of Nursing,Cairo *** were collected through demographic background information sheet and Social Networking Addiction ***:All the students were addicted as 6.76%were severely addicted and 60.59%and 32.65%were moderately and mildly addicted,*** relations were found between social media addiction and students’age(χ^(2)=11.331,P=0.003),educational level(χ^(2)=20.239,P=0.003),and grade point average(χ^(2)=19.378,P=0.013).Conclusion:Internet addiction was prevalent among all students but at different levels,so early screening of students for Internet addiction using the Internet Addiction Scale is important to provide early treatment and prevent hazards to health.
