Magnesium and aluminum alloys continually attract interest as lightweight structural materials for transport applications. However, joining these dissimilar alloys is very challenging. The main obstacle that hinders progress in dissimilar Mg-Al joining is the formation of brittle intermetallic compounds(IMCs). As a solid-state joining technique, FSW is an excellent candidate to attenuate the deleterious IMC effects in dissimilar Al-Mg joining due to the inherent low heat inputs involved in the process. However, the IMCs, namely Al_(3)Mg_(2) and Al_(12)Mg_(17) phases, have also been reported to form during Al-Mg dissimilar FSW;their amount and thickness depend on the heat input involved;thus,the weld parameters used. Since the heat dissipated in the material during the welding process significantly affects the amount of IMCs,the heat input during FSW should be kept as low as possible to control and reduce the amount of IMCs. This review aims to critically discuss and evaluate the studies conducted in the dissimilar Al/Mg FSW through a scientometric analysis and also with a focus on the strategies recently applied to enhance joint quality. The scientometric analysis showed that the main research directions in Mg/Al FSW are the technological weldability of aluminum and magnesium during FSW, structural morphology, and mechanical properties of dissimilar welded joints. Considering the scope of application of the aforementioned joints, the low share of articles dealing with environmental degradation and operational cracking is surprising. This might be attributed to the need for well-developed strategies for obtaining high-quality and sustainable joints for applications. Thus, the second part of this review is conventional, focusing mainly on the new strategies for obtaining high-quality Mg/Al joints. Cellulose nanocrystal(CNC)is a biomaterial derived from plant lignocellulosic components,widely applied in various industrial ***,with the growth of awareness in developing green nanomaterial,the explored Washingtonia fibre could be alternative biomass for obtaining CNC *** the present work,different acid concentrations of 5%,15%,and 25%hydrochloric solutions were employed to produce CNCs from Washingtonia *** the chemical treatments,the yield of the CNC product was successfully retained at 21.6%-25.1%.Individually separated and needle-shaped CNC particles could be observed under the microscopic viewing with the increased acid *** elemental analysis,a relatively pure cellulose compartment was produced for all CNC *** zeta potential values between-10 to-16 mV proved that each nanoparticle sample possessed dispersion ability within an aqueous ***,the degree of crystallinity and the thermal behavior of CNCs were enhanced with the increased acidic ***,the isolated CNCs(with 15%)from Washingtonia fibre lead a CNC with the highest aspect ratio(30).This parameter is so important that these structures show empowering points of view as nanomaterials for reinforced polymer composites,and it could be a reliable nano-filler for the composite fabrication process in the future.

Role of the injected water salinity and ion concentrations on the oil recovery in carbonate reservoirs

Low salinity water flooding(LSWF)was initially considered using water with a low concentration of dissolved salts and was later extended to include modifying the ionic content of injected *** work investigates the effects of changing water salinity and composition along with the concentration of sulfate and iodide ions on oil recovery in carbonate reservoirs during the tertiary recovery *** experimental study was carried out using crude oil of 29°API,8 core samples extracted from the Eocene carbonate reservoir(Egypt),and 6 different water *** results showed additional oil recovery up to 5%of the original oil in place(OOIP)in the tertiary recovery stage with changing water salinity and water *** of high salinity(HS)and low salinity(LS)brines with high sulfate concentrations increased the incremental oil recovery by a value ranging from 1.7 to 3.8%of the *** the contrary,injection of HS and LS brines with low sulfate concentrations showed insignificant incremental oil recovery(less than 1%of the OOIP).Furthermore,injection of water with potassium iodide(KI)after injection of water with high sulfate brines showed additional oil recovery of about 1.7%of the *** the other hand,injection of water with KI after injection of water with low sulfate concentration showed insignificant incremental oil recovery(less than 0.4%of the OOIP).The concentration of sulfate in the injected water appeared to be key parameter to achieve effective waterflooding(WF)projects in carbonate ***,the results revealed that the multi-component ion exchange(MIE)mechanism seems to be the primary recovery mechanism for LSWF in carbonate *** results and conclusions of this study can be used to develop guidelines for designing waterflooding projects in carbonate reservoirs with optimum salinity.

Sudden death in the southern region of Saudi Arabia:A retrospective study

BACKGROUND Sudden death is unanticipated,non-violent death taking place within the first 24 h after the onset of *** is a major public health problem ***,the effects of living at moderate altitude on mortality are poorly *** To retrospectively report the frequency and the main causes of sudden deaths in relation to total deaths at Asir Central Hospital,2255 m above sea level,in the southern region of Saudi Arabia over a period of 4 years from 2013 to *** The medical records of 1821 deaths were examined and showed 353 cases(19.4%)of sudden *** The highest incidence of sudden death was among the elderly(51%),whereas,the lowest was among children and adolescents(6.5%).With regard to gender,the incidence of sudden death was higher in males(54.4%)compared to 45.6% in *** this study,we found that the most common direct causes of sudden death were cardiovascular diseases(29.2%),respiratory disease(22.7%),infectious disease(12.2%),cancer(9.4%)and hematological diseases(6.2%).With respect to seasonal variation,the highest incidence was during winter(31.32%)followed by summer(25.8%).CONCLUSION The results of this study will help emergency physicians and health care providers to exercise due care to reduce the incidence of sudden death and raise public awareness about the impact of sudden death.

Hip firearm injuries are rare injuries that could lead to serious complications,such as posttraumatic hip arthritis and coloarticular *** report a case of a 25-year-old male who sustained a pelvic injury caused by a single bullet which led to a bilateral acetabular fracture,concomitant with a colon injury treated on an emergency basis by a diverting colostomy;acetabular fractures were treated conservatively by *** the patient recovered from the abdominal injury,he was presented with bilateral hip pain and limited motion;plain radiographs showed bilateral hip arthritis with proximal migration of the femoral head and bilateral acetabular defect classified as Paprosky type *** of the hips was performed using the same technique:impaction bone grafting for acetabular defect reconstruction and a reversed hybrid total hip arthroplasty(THA)6 months *** patient presented with loosening of the left THA acetabular cup 3 years later,which was revised;then he presented with a discharging sinus from the left THA with suspicion of coloarticular fistula,which was confirmed using CT with contrast material.A temporary colostomy and fistula excision were performed,and a cement spacer was applied to the *** clearing the infection,a final revision THA for the left hip was *** post-firearm hip arthritis by THA is challenging,especially in the situation of neglected cases with the presence of an acetabular *** intestinal injury increases the risk of infection with the possibility of coloarticular fistula formation,which could present *** with a multidisciplinary team is paramount.

Developing a multi-label tinyML machine learning model for an active and optimized greenhouse microclimate control from multivariate sensed data

In the uncertainties within which the worldwide food security lies nowadays,the agricultural industry is raising a crucial need for being equipped with the state-of-the-art technologies for a more efficient,climate-resilient and sustainable *** traditional production methods have to be revisited,and opportunities should be given for the innovative solutions henceforth brought by big data analytics,cloud computing and internet of things(IoT).In this context,we develop an optimized tinyML-oriented model for an active machine learningbased greenhouse microclimate management to be integrated in an on-field *** design an experimental strawberry greenhouse from which we collect multivariate climate data through installed *** obtained values'combinations are labeled according to a five-action multi-label control strategy,then used to prepare a machine learning-ready *** dataset is used to train and five-fold cross-validate 90 Multi-Layer Perceptrons(MLPs)with varied hyperparameters to select the most performant–yet optimized–model instance for the addressed *** multi-label control approach enables designing highly scalable models with reduced computational complexity,comprising only n control neurons instead of(1+∑n k=1Cn k)neurons(usually generated from a classic single-label approach from n input variables).Our final selected model incorporates 2 hidden layers with 7 and 8 neurons respectively and 151 parameters;it scored a mean accuracy of 97%during the cross-validation phase,then 96%on our supplementary test *** model enables an intelligent and autonomous greenhouse management with the less required *** can be efficiently deployed in microcontrollers within real world operating conditions.

Cartilage tympanoplasty in the treatment of adhesive otitis media with and without Eustachian tube balloon dilatation

Purpose:To compare cartilage tympanoplasty(CT)combined with eustachian tube balloon dilatation(ETBD)and cartilage tympanoplasty alone as a surgical treatment modality for adhesive otitis media(AdOM)in terms of graft healing,audiological outcomes,and impact on life style,using Chronic Otitis Media Outcome Test 15(COMOT-15).Methods:50 patients with AdOM were randomly classified into 2 groups:25 patients for cartilage tympanoplasty only(CT group)and 25 patients for cartilage tympanoplasty combined with eustachian tube balloon dilatation(CT t ETBD group).Clinical outcomes in both groups were compared at 3 and 6 months of follow ***:There was no significant difference in graft healing between the two *** COMOT-15 scores significantly decreased in both groups with a significant difference between the groups with regard to the decrease in COMOT-15 scores at 3 and 6 months of follow-up(P<0.05).Hearing improvement was achieved,as the mean preoperative ABG was 26.5±5.4 and 27.1±4.6 dB,and the mean postoperative ABG at 6 months was 19.4±4.4 and 14.6±3.9 dB in the CT and the CT t ETBD groups,*** difference in the magnitude of ABG reduction in the two groups was significant at 3 and 6 months of postoperative follow-up(P<0.05)in favour of the CT t ETBD ***:ETBD can increase the success rate of cartilage tympanoplasty in patients with AdOM by enhancing the audiological outcome and quality of life.

The salinity stress is one of the most relevant abiotic stresses that affects the agricultural *** present study was performed to study the improvement of the salt tolerance of tomato plants which is known for their susceptibility to salt *** present study aimed to assess to what extent strain Azospirillum brasilense(N040)and Saccharomyces cerevisiae improve the salt tolerance to tomato plants treated with different salt *** inoculant strain ***(N040)was previously adapted to survive up to 7%NaCl in the basal media.A greenhouse experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of this inoculation on growth parameter such as:plant height,root length,fresh and dry weight,fruits fresh weight,chlorophyll content,proline and total soluble sugar in tomato plants under salt stress *** results revealed that co-inoculation of Azospirillum brasilense(N040)and Saccharomyces cerevisiae significantly increased the level of proline(8.63 mg/g FW)and total soluble sugar(120 mg/g FW)of leaves under salinity condition comparing to non-inoculated plants(2.3 mg/g FW and 70 mg/g FW,respectively).Plants co-inoculated with adapted strain of *** and *** showed the highest significant(p<0.01)increase in fruit yield(1166.6 g/plant),plant high(115 cm)and roots length(52.6)compared whit un-inoculated control plants(42 g/pant,43.3 cm and 29.6 cm,respectively).In contrast,Na^(+)ion content was significantly decreased in the leaves of salt stressed plants treated with the ***(N040)and ***,the results showed that dual benefits provided by both ***(N040)and *** can provide a major way to improve tomato yields in saline soils.
