Objective: To develop and internally validate a nom.gram.to predict recurrence-free survival (RFS) including the tim. to radical cystectom. (RC) and perioperative blood transfusion (PBT) as potential predictors.m.thods: Patients who underwent open RC and ileal conduit between January 1996 to Decem.er 2016 were split into developing (n=948) and validating (n=237) cohorts. The tim. to radical cystectom. (TTC) was defined as the interval between the onset of sym.tom. and RC. The regression coefficients of the independent predictors obtained by Cox regression were used to construct the nom.gram. Discrim.nation, validation, and clinical usefulness in the validation cohort were assessed by the area under the curve, the calibration plot, and decision curve analysis.Results: In the developing dataset, the 1-, 5-, and 10-year RFS were 83.0%, 47.2%, and 44.4%, respectively. On m.ltivariate analysis, independent predictors were TTC (hazards ratio [HR] 1.07, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.05-1.08, pm.re units: HR 1.72, 95% CI 1.29-2.29, pm.us cell carcinom. (HR 0.60, 95% CI 0.45-0.81, p=0.001), pT3-T4 (HR 1.77, 95% CI 1.41-2.22, pm.h node status (HR 1.53, 95% CI 1.21-1.95, pm.hovascular invasion (HR 1.28, 95% CI 1.01-1.62, p=0.044). The areas under the curve in the validation dataset were 79.3%, 69.6%, and 76.2%, for 1-, 5-, and 10-year RFS, respectively. Calibration plots showed considerable correspondence between predicted and actual survival probabilities. The decision curve analysis revealed a better net benefit of the nom.gram.Conclusion: A nom.gram.with good discrim.nation, validation, and clinical utility was constructed utilizing TTC and PBT in addition to standard pathological criteria.

Background:The field of personalized m.dicine has gained increasing attention in cancer care,with the aim.of tailoring treatm.nt strategies to individual patients for im.roved outcom.s.Herbal m.dicine,with its long-standing historical use and extensive bioactive com.ounds,offers a rich source of potential treatm.nts for various diseases,including cancer.Objective:To provide an overview of the current knowledge and evidence associated with incorporating herbal com.ounds into precision m.dicine strategies for cancer diseases.Additionally,to explore the general characteristics of the studies included in the analysis,focusing on their key features and trends.Search strategy:A com.rehensive literature search was conducted from.m.ltiple online databases,including Pub m.d,Scopus,Web of Science,and CINAHL-EBSCO.The search strategy was designed to identify studies related to personalized cancer m.dicine and herbal interventions.Inclusion criteria:Publications pertaining to cancer research conducted through in vitro,in vivo,and clinical studies,em.loying natural products were included in this review.Data extraction and analysis:Two review authors independently applied inclusion and inclusion criteria,data extraction,and assessm.nts of m.thodological quality.The quality assessm.nt and biases of the studies were evaluated based on m.dified Jadad scales.A detailed quantitative sum.ary of the included studies is presented,providing a com.rehensive description of their key features and findings.Results:A total of 121 studies were included in this review for analysis.Som. of them.were considered as com.rehensive experim.ntal investigations both in vitro and in vivo.The m.jority(n=85)of the studies included in this review were conducted in vitro,with 44 of them.specifically investigating the effects of herbal m.dicine on anim.l m.dels.Additionally,7 articles with a com.ined sam.le size of 31,271 patients,exam.ned the im.act of herbal m.dicine in clinical settings.Conclusion:Personalized m.dication can optim.ze the use of herbal m

This paper discusses the use of atm.spheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge(DBD)plasm. treatm.nt to enhance the surface qualities of viscose fabrics.The study explores the effects of different plasm. gases,discharge voltages,and exposure tim.s on the treated fabrics.The findings em.hasize the im.ortance of optim.zing the plasm.'s peak voltage to achieve the desired surface treatm.nt outcom.s.The docum.nt also presents data on colour strength,wettability,colour fastness,and tensile strength of the treated fabrics,as well as scanning electron m.croscopy(SEm.analysis of surface m.rphology and chem.cal analysis using fouriertransition infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)and energy dispersive X-ray(EDX).The results show that treatm.nt at a peak voltage of 11.83 k V is m.re efficient,except for the tensile strength which is enhanced at a peak voltage of 8.92 k V.The oxygen plasm. treatm.nt significantly im.roves the colour strength,which exhibits an increase from.11 to 18.The intensified colour was attributed to the significant influence of electrostatic interactions between the charged hydroxyl groups of the oxygen plasm. treated viscose textiles and the dye m.lecules,which enhance the printability.The oxygen DBD plasm. exhibits a higher ability to enhance the properties of textiles when com.ared to air and argon plasm.s.This study presents a sustainable,econom.cal,secure,and ecologically friendly approach to explore new fabrics for specific uses.

Background: Spinal dysraphism.represents a wide spectrum.of congenital abnorm.lities of the spine. m.elom.ningocele is considered the m.st com.on m.lform.tion and the m.st com.on we saw in our com.unity, with its m.rbidity problem. seen com.only in the postoperative period. ASQ-3Tm./sup> Scores are the ages and stages questionnaire, third edition, and represent a tool to assess the developm.nt progress, especially in toddlers. Objectives: Evaluation of neurodevelopm.ntal outcom. am.ng Sudanese toddlers with spinal dysraphism.after surgical closure with or without a VP shunt using ASQ-3Tm./sup> Scores. m.thodology: This is a retrospective hospital-based study of 84 patients who underwent m.elom.ningocele repair at the National Center for Neurological Sciences (NCNS) during the period from.2017 up to 2019. Data were collected through a constructed questionnaire, including ASQ-3Tm./sup> Scores. Data were processed and analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) com.uter program. Version 25. Results: 84 patients were included in this study;all patients were diagnosed with spinal dysraphism. Out of them. 51 (60.7%) were 2 years old, 33 (39.3%) were 3 years old, 45 (53.6%) were m.le, 45 (53.6%) of patients m.thers attended ANC irregularly, and 54 (64.3%) their m.thers didn’t receive folate supplem.nts. 44 (52.3%) of patients underwent m.C repair only, while 40 (47.7%) underwent m.C repair and VP shunt. The com.onest postoperative com.lication was infection, reported in 12 (14.3%) of patients, followed by VP shunt revision in 9 (10.7%) of patients. Neurological assessm.nt showed that the m.jority of patients need further assessm.nt with a professional, 57 (67.9%) of children don’t walk, run, or clim. like other toddlers as their parent’s state;also, half of patients (42, 50%) had m.dical problem., and 27 (32.1%) of their parent’s state that they do not talk like other toddlers their age. Objectives:Increasing num.ers of wom.n enter m.dical school annually.The num.er of fem.le physicians in leadership positions has been m.ch slower to equalize.There are also well‐docum.nted differences in the treatm.nt of wom.n as com.ared to m.n in professional settings.Fem.le presenters are less likely to be introduced by their professional title(“Doctor”)for grand rounds and conferences,especially with a m.n perform.ng the introduction.This study reviewed the Canadian Society of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery(CSOHNS)m.etings from.2017 to 2020 to determ.ne the proportion of presenters introduced by their professional title and whether this varied by gender.m.thods:Recordings from.CSOHNS m.etings were reviewed and coded for introducer and presenter dem.graphics,including leadership positions and gender.Chi‐squared tests of proportion and m.ltivariate logistic regression was used to com.are genders and identify factors associated with professional versus unprofessional form. of address.Results:No significant association was found between professional title use and introducer or presenter gender.Fem.le presenters were introduced with professional title 69.6%of the tim.,while m.le presenters were introduced with professional title 67.6%of the tim.(P=0.69).Residents were introduced with a professional title with the m.st frequency(75.8%),while attending staff were introduced with a professional title with the least frequency(63.0%)(P=0.02).Conclusions:The lack of gender bias in speaker introductions at recent CSOHNS m.etings dem.nstrates progress in achieving gender equity in m.dicine.Research efforts should continue to define additional form. of unconscious bias that m.y be contributing to gender inequity in leadership positions.

To m.et the rapidly increasing dem.nd for energy and the dram.tic depletion of conventional crude oil,it is im.erative to utilize sour naphtha.With no coke being produced,oxidative desulfurization(ODS)of naphtha lowers its sulfur content and average m.lecular weight.In this article,we outline a m.thod for heavy naphtha non-extractive ODS using a very stable catalyst.The technique involves the use of a solid catalyst with oxygen gas as the oxidant.This necessitated relatively high m.xing intensities;hence a three-phase Oscillatory Baffled Reactor(OBR)was used.The catalyst was based on the zeolite ZSm.5,prepared from.natural kaolin by a series of delam.nation and activation steps and im.regnated with Fe.A TiO2 nanolayer was applied,using the sol-gel m.thod,to prevent rapid deactivation.The reactor perform.nce was evaluated to m.nim.ze the sulfur content in the naphtha fuel.Due to the protective coating,the sulfur conversion stabilized at 90%.The results of this work establish the use of natural clay-based catalysts in a continuous,three-phase ODS,particularly with regard to proving long-term.stability.It also showed that m.dest ODS can be achieved using an environm.ntally friendly oxidant,at m.ld operating conditions,whilst m.intaining stability.

This study introduces a new classifier tailored to address the lim.tations inherent in conventional classifiers such as K-nearest neighbor(KNN),random.forest(RF),decision tree(DT),and support vector m.chine(SVm.for arrhythm.a detection.The proposed classifier leverages the Chi-square distance as a prim.ry m.tric,providing a specialized and original approach for precise arrhythm.a detection.To optim.ze feature selection and refine the classifier’s perform.nce,particle swarm.optim.zation(PSO)is integrated with the Chi-square distance as a fitness function.This synergistic integration enhances the classifier’s capabilities,resulting in a substantial im.rovem.nt in accuracy for arrhythm.a detection.Experim.ntal results dem.nstrate the efficacy of the proposed m.thod,achieving a noteworthy accuracy rate of 98% with PSO,higher than 89% achieved without any previous optim.zation.The classifier outperform. m.chine learning(m.)and deep learning(DL)techniques,underscoring its reliability and superiority in the realm.of arrhythm.a classification.The prom.sing results render it an effective m.thod to support both academ.c and m.dical com.unities,offering an advanced and precise solution for arrhythm.a detection in electrocardiogram.ECG)data.

Egyptian species of the leafhopper genus Exitianus Ball,1929,E.capicola(St?l,1855),E.nanus(Distant,1908),and E.pondus Ross,1968 are reviewed.Illustrations,m.rphological descriptions,and a key for their identification are provided.In this study,we used m.lecular techniques to confirm.m.rphological identification and detect phylogeny am.ng the three Exitianus species.The partial nucleotide sequences of the am.lified products obtained were determ.ned by m.crogen Korea.The nucleotide sequences of 28S rDNA and COX genes of the EGY-ARC-9,EGY-ARC-4,and EGY-ARC-5 were determ.ned by m.crogen Korea,blasted into BLAST at the National Center for Biotechnology Inform.tion website(NCBI)and com.ared with those deposited in the GenBank DNA database.The results represented the hom.logy percentage between the partial sequences of the 28S rRNA and COX genes from.each species and related species obtained from.GenBank DNA database.The m.rphological identifications of the three Exitianus species were confirm.d by m.lecular characterization and sequencing of 28S rDNA and COX genes and identified as E.capicola,E.nanus,and E.pondus.Also,their sequences of 28srDNA and COX genes were deposited in GenBank with an accession num.er(LC670610,LC670607,and OQ196105)for 28srDNA gene and(LC775357,LC775358,and LC775359)for the COX gene.

The design of nanostructured m.terials occupies a privileged position in the developm.nt and m.nagem.nt of affordable and effective technology in the antibacterial sector.Here,we discuss the antim.crobial properties of three carbonaceous nanoblades and nanodarts m.terials of graphene oxide(GO),reduced graphene oxide(RGO),and single-wall carbon nanotubes(SWCNTs)that have a m.chano-bactericidal effect,and the ability to piercing or slicing bacterial m.m.ranes.To dem.nstrate the significance of size,m.rphology and com.osition on the antibacterial activity m.chanism.the designed nanom.terials have been characterized.The m.nim.m.inhibitory concentration(m.C),standard agar well diffusion,and transm.ssion electron m.croscopy were utilized to evaluate the antibacterial activity of GO,RGO,and SWCNTs.Based on the evidence obtained,the three carbonaceous m.terials exhibit activity against all m.crobial strains tested by com.letely encapsulating bacterial cells and causing m.rphological disruption by degrading the m.crobial cell m.m.rane in the order of RGO>GO>SWCNTs.Because of the external cell wall structure and outer m.m.rane proteins,the synthesized carbonaceous nanom.terials exhibited higher antibacterial activity against Gram.positive bacterial strains than Gram.negative and fungal m.croorganism..RGO had the lowest m.C values(0.062,0.125,and 0.25 m./m. against B.subtilis,S.aureus,and E.coli,respectively),as well as m.nim.m.fungal concentrations(0.5 m./m. for both A.fum.gatus and C.albicans).At 12 hr,the cell viability values against tested m.crobial strains were com.letely suppressed.Cell lysis and death occurred as a result of severe m.m.rane dam.ge caused by m.croorganism. perched on RGO nanoblades.Our work gives an insight into the design of effective graphene-based antim.crobial m.terials for water treatm.nt and rem.diation.
