AIM: To determine the prevalence of bipolar disorder(BD) and sub-threshold symptoms in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADhD) through 14 years' follow-up, when participants were between 21-24 years ***: First, we examined rates of BD type Ⅰ?and Ⅱ diagnoses in youth participating in the NIMh-funded Multimodal Treatment Study of ADhD(MTA). We used the diagnostic interview schedule for children(DISC), administered to both parents(DISC-P) and youth(DISCY). We compared the MTA study subjects with ADhD(n = 579) to a local normative comparison group(LNCG, n = 289) at 4 different assessment points: 6, 8, 12, and 14 years of follow-ups. To evaluate the bipolar variants, we compared total symptom counts(TSC) of DSM manic and hypomanic symptoms that were generated by DISC in ADhD and LNCG subjects. Then we sub-divided the TSC into pathognomonic manic(PM) and non-specific manic(NSM) symptoms. We compared the PM and NSM in ADhD and LNCG at each assessment point and over time. We also evaluated the irritability as category A2 manic symptom in both groups and over time. Finally, we studied the irritability symptom in correlation with PM and NSM in ADhD and LNCG ***: DISC-generated BD diagnosis did not differ significantly in rates between ADhD(1.89%) and LNCG 1.38%). Interestingly, no participant met BD diagnosis more than once in the 4 assessment points in 14 years. however, on the symptom level, ADhD subjects reported significantly higher mean TSC scores: ADhD 3.0; LNCG 1.7; P hD status was associated with higher mean NSM: ADhD 2.0 vs LNCG 1.1; P hD subjects had higher PM symptoms than LNCG, with PM means over all time points of 1.3 ADhD; 0.9 LNCG; P = 0.0001. Treatment of cancer with chemotherapy often faces drug resistance issues, which can stop after a period of remission. This resistance is due to several mechanisms;among them, the most important is the one in relation with the overexpression of the P glycoprotein (Pgp) produced by the mdr 1 gene. This gene confers to cells the multidrug resistance (MDR) phenotype in the setting of treatment for many cancers (leukemia-lymphoma...). The aim of this study was to investigate the binding site of P glycoprotein by affinity labeling in order to synthesize effective inhibitors on chemotherapeutic drugs efflux. The first objective was to increase P glycoprotein concentration in R7 cells by treating them with doxorubicin to obtain human Pgp rich fractions. The second consisted in characterizing the progesterone binding site on Pgp by affinity photolabeling with tritiated azidopine on the one hand, and by western-blot transfer with C219 antibody on the other hand. Our results indicate a significant increase in the level of expression Pgp in R7 cells treated with 1 and 2.5 nM doxorubicin, and clearly show enrichment in Pgp of doxorubicin treated R7 cells.

We study the hadronic decays of ∧c+ to the final states ∑+η and ∑+η’,using an e+e-annihilation data sample of 567 pb-1 taken at a center-of-mass energy of 4.6 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCⅡ *** find evidence for the decays ∧c+→∑+η and ∑+η’ with statistical significance of 2.5σ and 3.2σ,*** to the reference decays ∧c+→∑+π0 and ∑+ω,we obtain the ratios of the branching fractions■and ■to be 0.35±0.16±0.02 and 0.86±0.34±0.04,*** upper limits at the 90% confidence level are set to be■and■.Using BESIII measurements of the branching fractions of the reference decays,we determine B（∧c+→∑+η）=（0.41±0.19±0.05）%（here,the first uncertainties are statistical and the second *** obtained branching fraction of ∧c+→∑+η is consistent with the previous measurement,and the branching fraction of ∧c+→∑+η’ is measured for the first time.

Objective:The aim of this study was to evaluate the optimal field arrangement for conformal radiotherapy (CFRT) for prostate cancer ***:Thirty patients with prostate cancer of different grades and stages were treated with 3D conformal radiotherapy to minimize the dose to bladder,rectum and head of both femora using four fields (4F),five fields (5F),six fields (6F) and ARC techniques to minimize the risk of over dose to bladder,rectum and femoral *** received a total dose between 76 to 78 Gy given in 38 to 39 fractions over 7.5 to 8 ***:It was observed that V95,D95,D50 and D5 values for planning target volume (PTV) were comparatively higher when planned by 5 fields technique than when planned by fixed field technique (91%,91%,90% and 91.4% for skip-scan technique versus 85%,87%,86% and 88% by fixed field).The organs like rectum and urinary bladder get much higher dose when treated by fixed field techniques than rotation or 5 fields technique,when comparison was made for V95,V50 and DM values for rectum and urinary bladder obtained by 5 fields technique planning and 4/6 field planning,the value for 5 fields technique was found to be lower than 4/6 field technique (1%,70% and 51% versus 13%,91% and 55% for rectum and 4%,25% and 51% versus 16%,38% and 56% for urinary bladder respectively).Conclusion:Similarly for femoral heads,planning by full rotational technique had been observed to be beneficial as compared to when planning was done by fixed field technique (0%,0% and 29% versus 0%,1% and 28%).

Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Outcomes in Patients with Gastrointestinal Symptoms: Retrospective Analysis at a Tertiary Care hospital

Background: Endoscopic procedures are frequently performed to rule out any disease process which eventuates with either a positive or negative outcome. Association of patient demographics, clinical features with endoscopic outcomes are of paramount importance for better understanding and practice of endoscopy. Objectives: This study aimed to determine the frequency of positive endoscopic findings in patients with gastrointestinal symptoms compared to those with negative findings. As a secondary objective, the association between relevant demographics, symptoms, laboratory investigations and procedural outcomes of the participants and positive endoscopic findings were also assessed. Methods: A retrospective analysis of all the patients who underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy from January 2017 to December 2017 was conducted. A total of 1066 endoscopy records were retrieved and using a convenience sampling technique, relevant data were manually entered to the questionnaires. Records with incomplete or inconsistent data were disregarded as per the exclusion criteria, resulting in 1011 patient records ultimately utilized for the study. All data were entered and analyzed using IBM SPSS 23.0. Results: The study comprised a total of 1011 patients where 52.2% were females and 47.8% males while the mean age of patients was 42.16 ± 15.45. Positive endoscopic findings were observed in 88.1%, where the most common finding was gastritis (49.1%). Approximately 14.5% had positive investigation findings for hBsAg and 23.1% were seropositive for anti-hCV antibody. P-values statistically significant were for age (p = 0.044), hematemesis (p = 0.002), betel quid addiction (p = 0.044), anti-hCV antibody (p = 0.043), hCV-RNA (p = 0.041) and “h. pylori” antigen (p = 0.032). Conclusion: Both genders were almost equally included where most patients presented between the 3rd and 5th decades of life. A high incidence of gastritis was noted. The integrated luminosities of data samples collected in the BESⅢ experiment in 2016-2017 at centerof-mass energies between 4.19 and 4.28 GeV are measured with a precision better than 1% by analyzing large-angle Bhabha scattering *** integrated luminosities of old datasets collected in 2010-2014 are updated by considering corrections related to detector performance,offsetting the effect of newly discovered readout errors in the electromagnetic calorimeter,which can haphazardly occur.

There is a need to explore novel methods of assessing bone health in sick preterm infants. This study of the speed of sound in the long bones of newborn term and preterm infants shows that, in this population, this technique is not site specific and has a high degree of interobserver and intraobserver precision. The speed of sound in newborn infants is primarily dependent on gestation rather than birth weight.

试验旨在探究石榴、银杏、甘草3种中草药的组合(NPGL)和发酵中草药(FPGL)0.4%添加到饲料中对生长肥育猪生长性能和肉质的影响。饲料中添加NPGL或FPGL可降低生长肥育猪的采食量和背标厚,提高生产性能。FPGL组血清中免疫球蛋白G含量更高。随着水分的增加,NPGL和FPGL均可降低背最长肌(LDM)的脂肪含量,且NPGL组中胆固醇含量较低。饲料中添加NPGL和FPGL均可增加LDM中n-3脂肪酸含量,降低n-6/n-3。两组均显著减少新鲜猪肉和储存2、3周猪肉中的硫代巴比妥酸反应物(TBARS)。试验结果表明,饲料中添加NPGL和FPGL可提高n-3脂肪酸水平,减少脂肪和TBARS,改善猪肉品质。

Prevalence of unsuspected thyroid nodules in adults on contrast enhanced 16-and 64-MDCT of the chest

AIM: To determine the prevalence of unsuspected thyroid nodules on contrast enhanced 16and 64-modified discrete cosine transform (MDCT) of the chest, in a population of adult outpatients imaged for indications other than thyroid disease. METhODS: This retrospective study involved review of intravascular contrast-enhanced MDCT scans of the chest from 3077 consecutive adult outpatients, to identify unsuspected thyroid nodules. Exclusion criteria included history of thyroid cancer, known thyroid nodules or thyroid disease and risk factors for thyroid cancer, as evidenced by their medical records. One of 9 radiologists recorded number of nodules, location and bidirectional measurement of largest nodule, as well as amount of thyroid visualized on the chest computed tomography (CT). Presence of nodule was correlated with age, gender, race and percentage of thyroid imaged. RESULTS: A total of 2510 (2510/3077 or 81.6%) study subjects were included in the data analysis; among them,one or more nodules were identified in 629 subjects (629/2510 or 25.1%), with 242 (242/629 or 38.5%) having multiple nodules. Patients with nodule(s) were significantly older than those without (64 ± 13 years vs 58 ± 14 years, P h presence of nodule(s) (373/1222 or 30.5% vs 256/1288 or 19.9%, P having multiple nodules (167/373 or 44.8%) compared to men (75/256 or 29.3%, P he majority of nodules (427/629 or 67.9%) were less than 1 cm. CONCLUSION: This retrospective review revealed a prevalence of 25.1% for unsuspected thyroid nodules on contrast-enhanced chest CT.
