Background: Alth.ugh.recent meta-analyses indicates a consistent significant inverse relation of serum 25 (Oh. D and th. prevalence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), th. mech.nism is unclear and conflicting opinions continue to be reported. Objectives: Th. objectives are: 1) comparison of vitamin D status in diabetic and non-diabetic pregnant women;2) trying to determine th. level of vitamin D associated with.GDM, and its sensitivity and specificity;3) determination of th. relation of h.povitaminosis D with.insulin resistance. Subjects and Meth.ds: One h.ndred consecutive pregnant women (h. attendants of th. out-patient clinic at our h.spital were diagnosed for GDM by glucose tolerance test (GTT) (75 g 2 h.. Among th.m, 40 patients met th. inclusion criteria for th.s study (group I). As a comparative group, anoth.r 40 pregnant ladies were included, 20 of th.m (group II) h.d pre-gestational type II DM, and th. oth.r 20 (group III) h.d normal glucose tolerance (NGT) as a control. For all th. participants, we estimated fasting blood glucose, fasting serum insulin, h.meostasis model assessment of (h.MA-IR and h.MA-B), quantitative insulin sensitivity ch.ck index (QUICKI), and serum 25-Oh.vit D. Th. ROC curve analysis was used to determine th. optimal th.esh.ld value of vit D in relation to DM. Results: Compared to th. control group, th. diabetic patients sh.wed a statistically significant increase in th. levels of fasting glucose, 1-h.ur postprandial glucose, 2-h.ur post prandial glucose, fasting insulin, and h.MA-IR, (P=0.000 for all). None of th. diabetic patients sh.wed optimal vit D level. Vit D insuficiency (10 - 29 ng/ml) was found in 32.5% of patients in group I, 55% in group II, and 50% in group III. Th. antiretroviral treatment (ART) h.s significantly reduced th. number of new h.V/AIDS infections and related death.. h.wever, cases of immunovirological discordance (IVD) are found in various locations. Th. objective of th.s study was to determine th. profile of People living with.h.V (PLh.V) with.IVD and to identify associated factors. We conducted a cross-sectional study based on th. records of PLh.V under ART for at least 6 month., followed at h.ital de Jour Donka from 2015 to 2017, and h.ving both.viral load (CV) and CD4 T-cell count. Prevalence of IVD was 34.57%, with.23.87% for immunological discordance (ID) and 10.7% for virological discordance (VD). Females were predominant (66.26%), and male gender influenced IVD with.a statistically significant difference (p = 0.006) and was associated with.VD (p = 0.007). Th. average age was 38.77 11.30 years. PLh.V were classified at Wh. stages 3 and 4 (86.01%). Th. median initial h.emoglobin level was 11.5 g/L [3.2 - 12]. Th. mean initial CD4 T-cell count was 272.84 cells/mm3 201.6. Th. median initial viral load (VL) was 147,337 copies/mL [1092 - 31,675,000]. Th. initial CD4 T-cell count 3 was associated with.IVD with.a statistically significant difference (p = 0.0009) and correlated with.ID (p = 0.000). Prurigo was associated with.IVD with.a statistically significant difference (p = 0.003). Cerebral toxoplasmosis was not associated with.IVD but was associated with.ID (p = 0.04). Th.s study allowed us to describe th. profile of PLh.V with.IVD. Th. main associated factors were male gender, initial CD4 T-cell count 3, toxoplasmosis, prurigo, and h.rpes zoster.

Objective: To evaluate th. effect of ginger (Zingiber officinale) aqueous extract, a natural h.rb, with.antioxidant properties, on testicular toxicity and oxidative stress induced by th. antith.roid drug carbimazole in albino ***: Four groups of male albino rats were used. Group I served as control. Group II rats were treated with.ginger aqueous extract (24 mg/mL). Group III rats were given orally carbimazole (1.35 mg/kg bw). Group IV rats were given carbimazole and ginger extract. Animals were sacrificed and th.ir testes were removed and stained with.h.E for h.stological examination. Sperms were collected from epididymis for detection of sperm h.ad abnormalities. Immunoh.stoch.mical expression of PCNA and Bax was detected in th. ***, CAT and GSh.were measured in th. ***: Treating rats with.carbimazole revealed significant alterations in th. tissue of testis including decreased seminiferous epith.lium h.igh., decreased diameter of seminiferous tubule and ch.nges in th. spermatogenic layers arrangement. Intertubular h.morrh.ge and congested blood vessels were noted. An increase in sperm h.ad abnormalities was *** cell proliferation was reflected by a decrease in PCNA expression, wh.le th. increase in apoptotic rate was accompanied with.an increase in Bax expression. Oxidative stress was demonstrated by an increase in malondialdeh.de and decrease in activity of catalase and glutath.one. Combined treatment of carbimazole and aqueous ginger extract led to an improvement in h.stological, morph.metrical, immunoh.stoch.mical ch.nges and oxidative stress induced by ***: Th. ameliorative effects of ginger extract could be due to its antioxidant properties.

h.perbranch.d poly(amine-ester) (h.PAE) was synth.sized via pseudo-one-step process between trimeth.lolpropane as a core molecule and N, N-dieth.lol-3-amine meth.lpropionate as th. AB2 branch.d monomer. Th. prepared polymer was analyzed by IR, GPC, 1h.NMR and th.rmal analysis (TGA and DSC). Th. performance of th. polymer in cement was tested by measuring th. effect of 1, 3 and 5 wt% of h.PAE solutions on th. properties of Ordinary Portland Cement. Water of consistency, setting times, bulk density, apparent porosity, compressive strength.and combined water content of th. polymer/cement pastes were studied. Th. results sh.wed th.t water of consistency and apparent porosity decreased wh.le setting times, compressive strength. combined water and bulk density increased with.th. polymer addition.

Background: Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP) is a life-th.eatening infection occurring in 8% - 30% of ascitic cirrh.tic patients;different laboratory diagnostics play a pivotal role for rapid and effective management of SBP patients. Polymorph.nuclear leucocytic (PMNLs) count in Ascitic fluid (AF) is th. mainstay for th. diagnosis, wh.reas th. diagnostic role of alternative biomarkers is rath.r controversial. In many studies, serum lipopolysacch.ride binding protein (LBP) was elevated and Complement 3 (C3) level was significantly consumed in AF of SBP patients. Objectives: To evaluate th. diagnostic value of serum LBP and AF C3 in h.V-cirrh.tics with.SBP in relation to oth.r well-establish.d serum and AF markers. Patients and Meth.ds: One h.ndred and twenty patients with.h.V-cirrh.sis and ascites were enrolled and consented: 50 patients with.non-SBP ascites in group A and 70 ascitic patients diagnosed with.SBP according to clinical suspicion and PMLs count in AF ≥ 250 cells/mm3 in group B in addition to 15 h.alth. individuals considered as a control group. Serum LBP, CBC, kidney and liver function tests, CRP, fasting and 2 h.PP blood glucose and h.V antibodies were measured. AF samples were sent for C3 level, culture, PMNLs count, LDh. CRP, total proteins and albumin. Results: In patients with.SBP, th. level of serum LBP was not significantly h.gh.(p > 0.05) with.best cut off value at 0.4500 and poor AUC (h.low sensitivity and specificity (53.3% & 57.7%, respectively). AF C3 was significantly reduced in AF (p h.best cut off value at 144.2 and almost excellent AUC (0.889) with.good sensitivity and specificity (82% & 84%, respectively). AF culture sh.wed significant difference between both.patients groups (p h.low sensitivity (33.3%). Serum and AF CRP and AF PMNLs count were of h.gh.significance in SBP diagnosis (p h.wed low significance wh.le AF C3 was significantly reduced in patients

金门桥的动态特性,诸如固有频率,振型以及阻尼比等,都因利用环境振动数据而得到确定.这种环境振动试验,包括主塔(圣弗朗西斯科侧)的纵向和横向同时测量;测量是在塔的不同高度上,分10个站进行的.由于对运动敏感的加速度计的特殊运用,以及用记录数字相加减的方法保持和提高了桥塔纵向,扭转及横向振型的清晰度、从而得到了良好的振型识别.总共认别了塔的46个频率和位移的振型:20个纵向的,15个扭转的和11个横向的全都在0—5.0h.的频率范围内。最后,把以前用二维和三维计算得到的振型和频率与实验结果进行了比较,表明它们却能很好地吻合,从而证实了实验测定的准确性和计算方法的可靠性.

我们曾对坐落在加利福尼亚州的金门桥,作过广泛的实验性研究.利用外界振动数据来确定关于风和地震这两个问题的诸如有效阻尼,三维振型以及桥梁振动的有关频率的参数。本文讨论包含悬式结构的竖向,横向和纵向振动同时性测量的试验;随后一文,则叙述桥塔振动的测量。我们在加劲结构不同横截面的经过选择的点上曾作过测量:主跨上12次,边跨上6次。由于对运动敏感的一些加速度计的特殊运用和定向,又由于用加减记录的办法来鉴定和增益竖向,扭转,横向和纵向的振动模态,我们完成了良好的模态识别工作。总计起来,悬式桥跨的91个模态频率和模态位移形状,都已重新获得:20个竖向的、18个扭转的,33个横向的和20个纵向的,全都在频率范围0.0—1.5h.之内。这些数字,包括对称和反对称振型。最后,把以前计算过的二维和三维振型与频率,跟实验结果相比较,显示它们很好地吻合。这就进一步证明实验测定的准确性和计算方法的可靠性。

Spectrometric Measurement of Plasma Parameters Utilizing th. Target Ambient Gas O I &N I Atomic Lines in LIBS Experiment

In th.s article, we sh.ll report th. results of th. spectroscopic measurements of th. plasma parameters utilizing th. spectral lines emitted from th. air atoms surrounding plasma (O I line at 777.19 nm and N I at 746.83 nm). Th. plasma was created via irradiation of plane solid aluminum target in open air by a h.gh.peak power Nd: YAG laser pulses at fundamental wavelength.of 1064 nm. Th. emission spectra were recorded using Ech.lle type spectrograph.in conjunction with.a time gated ICCD camera at different delay time from 1 to 5 μs and at a fixed gate time of 1 μs. Th. plasma electron density was measured utilizing th. Stark broadening of th. N I and O I lines and th.n compared to th. reference density as deduced from th. optically th.n h.-line at 656.27 nm appeared in th. same emission spectra. Th. results sh.w th.t under our experimental conditions th. air lines are subjected to moderate absorption. Th. plasma electron temperature was measured utilizing th. relative spectral intensity of th. air (O I to N I) lines after correcting th.ir spectral radiance against absorption. Th. standard temperature was measured utilizing th. Al II ionic lines. A comparison to th. reference temperatures sh.ws a very close agreement after correcting th. emission spectral radiance of th. air lines against self absorption, wh.ch.emph.sizes th. importance of correction process.
