Functional evaluation of the filtering bleb by ultrasound biomicroscopy after trabeculectomy with mitomycin C

aiM： To study the role of ultrasound biomicroscopy（UBM） in the assessment of the bleb function after trabeculectomy with mitomycin C（MMC）. METHODS： This was a cross-sectional study including all cases had undergone trabeculectomy with MMC 0.2 mg/mL for 3 min. Participants were recruited from the follow-up cases at Department of Ophthalmology, Tanta University in the period from August 2015 to August 2016. Full history taking and ophthalmological examination were performed. Intraocular pressure（IOP） was measured using Goldmann applanation tonometry and the history of prescribed postoperative antiglaucoma medications was recorded. Accordingly, the trabeculectomy blebs were divided clinically into successful blebs when the IOP post-operative was ≤18 mmHg without medications. Scanning examination of the filtering bleb using UBM examination was performed at the period from 2 to 36 mo after trabeculectomy（13.6±9.7 m o）. RESULTS： This study included 33 trabeculectomy filtering blebs of 25 patients（9 males and 16 females）. The mean age of patients was 53.2±14.2 y（range 25-71y）. We had 20 eyes with complete success, 9 eyes with qualified success, and 4 eyes with failure after trabeculectomy with MMC. The blebs were classified into successful blebs（IOP ≤18 mmHg without antiglaucoma medications）, others were classified into qualified successful and failed blebs. There was a significant correlation between certain UBM findings（intra-bleb reflectivity, draining sub-scleral tract, bleb height, and intrableb fluid cysts） and cases with different grades of clinical functional success（P〈0.01）.CONCLUSION： UBM is an objective tool in the functional assessment of the post-trabeculectomy filtering bleb through a significant correlation between certain UBM parameters and the different grades of clinical functional success.

Lipase inhibitory activity of Lagenaria siceraria fruit as a strategy to treat obesity

Objective:To explore pancreatic lipase inhibitory activity under different extraction conditions in order to track the most potent ***:The methanolic extract and its fractions in solvents of increasing polarity,ether,chloroform,ethyl acetate,n-butanol and water,were made through cold *** in ethanol,ethyl acetate,acetone and chloroform were similarly *** extract was prepared through hot decoction method.A reported method was used to determine lipase inhibitory activity of extracts and fractions over wide ranges of ***:The extracts and fractions exhibited concentration dependent *** IC50(μg/mL)values of methanolic,ethanolic,chloroform,ethyl acetate,acetone,ethyl acetate(after washing with water)and aqueous decoction were 293.40,266.47,157.59,182.12,352.34,257.00,and 190.00,*** activity of chloroform,ethyl acetate and aqueous extracts were close to that of the drug orlistat(IC50 146μg/mL).Out of the fractions of the methanolic extract,the chloroform fraction was most active(IC50 189.6μg/mL).The order of inhibitory activity of the fractions was as follows:chloroform>ether>n-butanolic>aqueous>ethyl *** GC/MS analysis of the most active chloroform faction showed the presence of hexadecanoic acid,methyl hexadecanoate,isopropyl palmitate,methyl 9,12-octadecadienate,and methyl 9,12,***:The study suggests that Lagenaria siceraria has potential to inhibit pancreatic lipase activity,suppressing lipid digestion and thereby diminishing entry of lipids into the *** intake of aqueous decoction of the fruit may therefore be recommended for control of *** acids and their esters may play role as inhibitors of lipase.

Stability analysis of different cotton genotypes under normal and water-deficit conditions

Cotton plant observes significant reduction in seed cotton yield when subjected to water *** find out genotypes having better drought tolerance,seven genotypes of Gossypium hirsutum *** tested under two moisture levels,i.e.,normal and water deficit stress conditions at five locations of Punjab,Pakistan(Faisalabad,Sahiwal,Vehari,Rahim Yar Khan,and Bahawalpur)in 2013 and ***×environment interaction(GEI)was studied using the genotype main effects and genotype by environment interaction(GGE)biplot and additive main effect and multiplicative interaction *** genotypes G3(7001/11)and G6(FH-942)were stable under normal condition,while under drought condition,the stable genotype was G5(FH-326)when analysed using additive main effects and multiplicative interaction(AMMI)biplot *** GGE biplot analysis on the basis of best performance revealed that under normal condition the genotypes,G1(L-13/10)and G2(FH-2056/10),carrying the common position in ***,under water deficit stress condition,G5 was the best adaptive genotype at all five *** the same way,ranking of genotypes showed that the G5 was the ideal genotype under both ***,it is concluded that the genotype G5(FH-326)was found best for water deficit stress condition and can be cultivated under water scarce areas of Punjab.

This research is focused on the analysis of the sequence stratigraphic units of F3 Block,within a wave-dominated delta of Plio–Pleistocene *** wells of F3 block and a 3D seismic data,are utilized in this *** conventional techniques of 3D seismic interpretation were utilized to mark the 11 surfaces on the seismic *** of seismic sequence stratigraphic interpretation,using well logs,and subsequent 3D geostatistical modeling,using seismic data,aided to evaluate the shallow hydrocarbon *** resulting models were obtained using System Tract and Facies models,which were generated by using sequential stimulation method and their variograms made by spherical method,moreover,these models are validated via *** CDF curve generated from upscaling of well logs using geometric method,shows a good relation with less percentage of errors(1 to 2 for Facies and 3 to 4 for System Tract models)between upscaled and raw data that complements the resulted *** approaches help us to delineate the best possible reservoir,lateral extent of system tracts(LST and/or HST)in the respective surface,and distribution of sand and shale in the *** clinoform break points alteration observed on seismic sections,also validates the sequence stratigraphic *** GR log-based Facies model and sequence stratigraphy-based System Tract model of SU-04-2 showed the reservoir characteristics,presence of sand bodies and majorly LST,respectively,mainly adjacent to the main fault of the studied ***,on the seismic section,SU-04-2 exhibits the presence of gas pockets at the same location that also complements the generated Facies and System Tract *** generated models can be utilized for any similar kind of study and for the further research in the F3 block reservoir characterization.

Biodecoloration of Reactive Black 5 by the methylotrophic yeast Candida boidinii MM 4035

Azo dyes are extensively used in textile dyeing and other industries. Effluents of dying industries are specially colored and could cause severe damage to the environment. The anaerobic treatment of textile dying effluents is nowadays the preferred option, but it could generate carcinogenic aromatic amines. Recently, yeasts have become a promising altemative, combining unicellular growth with oxidative mechanisms. This work reports the characterization of the first methylotrophic yeast with dye decolorizing ability, Candida boidinii MM 4035 and some insights into its decoloration mechanism. The analysis of two selected media revealed a possible two stages mechanism of Reactive Black 5 decoloration. In glucose poor media, decoloration is incomplete and only the first stage proceeds, leading to the accumulation of a purple compound. In media with higher glucose concentrations, the yeast is able to decolorize totally an initial concentration of 200 mg/L. The entire process is co-metabolic, being largely dependent on glucose concentration but being able to proceed with several nitrogen sources. Manganese dependent peroxidase but not laccase activity could be detected during decoloration. Aromatic amines do not accumulate in culture media, supporting an oxidative decoloration mechanism of unknown ecophysiological relevance.

The World Society for Virology(WSV) was founded and incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the United States in 2017. WSV seeks to strengthen and support both virological research and virologists who conduct research of viruses that affect humans, other animals, plants, and other organisms. One of the objectives of WSV is to connect virologists worldwide and support collaboration. Fulfilling this objective, virologists from fourteen countries in North America,Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East met on 25–27 th August 2019 in Stockholm, Sweden at the Karolinska University Hospital for the first Committee Meeting of WSV. This meeting included compelling keynote and honorary speeches and a series of 18 scientific talks were given encompassing a diverse array of subjects within virology. Followed by the scientific session, a business session was held where multiple aspects and next steps of the society were discussed and charted out.

aiM： To study the association between Crohn＇s disease （CD）, Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratubercuolsis （MAP）, and genetic factors by examining the role of natural resistance-associated macrophage protein 1 （NRAMP1） gene polymorphisms （now SLCllA1） in Sardinian patients with CD and controls. METHODS： Thirty-seven CD patients and 34 controls with no inflammatory bowel disease （IBD） were recruited at the University of Sassari after giving written consent. Six SCL11A1 polymorphisms previously reported to be the most significantly associated with IBD were searched. M, pafatubefculosis was identified by IS900 PCR and sequencing. Logistic regression was used to calculate odds ratios （OR） for the associations among CD, presence of MAP, and 6 loci described above.＇ RESULTS： For the first time, a strong association was observed between polymorphisms at NRAMP1 locus 823C/T and CD. While CD was strongly associated with both NRAMP1 and MAP, NRAMP1 polymorphisms and MAP themselves were not correlated. CONCLUSION： Combined with previous work on the NOD2/CARD15 gene, it is clear that the interplay of genetic, infectious, and immunologic factors in the etiology of CD is complex.

Effects of exogenous enzymes, Lactobacillus acidophilus or their combination on feed performance response and carcass characteristics of rabbits fed sugarcane bagasse

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of Lactobacillus acidophilus（LAC）, exogenous enzymes of ZAD（exogenous enzyme preparation） or their combination on feed conversion, and dressing of rabbits fed different treatments of sugarcane bagasse（SCB）. Five rations were allotted randomly to five groups of New-Zealand White（NZW） rabbits（n=10） with initial live body weight of（838±42.4） g and 5 weeks of age. Rabbits were fed on diets with different sources of fiber as follows,（i） a control diet composed of 100% berseem hay and 0% SCB,（ii） 50% berseem hay and 50% untreated SCB（USCB）,（iii） 50% berseem hay and 50% SCB treated with L. acidophilus（LAC）,（iv） 50% berseem hay and 50% SCB treated with ZAD（ZAD）, and（v） 50% berseem hay and 50% SCB treated with a combination of LAC＋ZAD（LZ）. Treatments of SCB with L. acidophilus, ZAD and LAC＋ZAD had the highest feed conversion ratio than both USCB and control. The dressing percentage of rabbits that fed the LAC and LZ diets was higher（P〈0.05） compared with that in the other groups. Performance index（PI） for LAC group was improved（P〈0.05） compared to that for the other groups; however, PI for USCB group was the lowest（P〈0.05）. It could be concluded that treating SCB with L. acidophilus, exogenous enzymes of ZAD or their combination improved feed conversion and performance with more positive effects with L. acidophilus than the other treatments.
