Mineralogy and geochemistry of fine-grained Dahab stream sediments, Southeastern Sinai, Egypt: emphasis on the intergrowths of Fe–Ti oxides

Mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of stream sediments collected from 30 stations in the Dahab-Wadi Kid area(southeastern Sinai,Egypt)are *** studied sediments contain considerable amounts of heavy minerals,including abundant Fe–Ti oxides,with up to 25.94%index figure that measures the relative abundance of heavy minerals to light *** of the sediments and nature of Fe–Ti oxide intergrowths,in addition to some non-opaque heavy minerals,indicate multiple provenances with contributions from a variety of Neoproterozoic mafic to felsic *** amounts of heavy minerals are derived from schists that belong to the so-called Wadi Kid volcanosedimentary *** to the considerable contribution of the felsic intrusions represented by within-plate granites,the sediments are enriched in REE-bearing minerals(e.g.,monazite,cerianite,La-cerianite and allanite),V-bearing thorite,zircon,and a ZrO_(2) *** majority of Fe–Ti oxides are derived from the mafic intrusions,and they show evidence of pre-,syn-and post-depositional phases of alteration and formation of *** to the geochemical signature of the bulk silt fraction,there is remarkable enrichment of LREEs with distinct negative Eu anomaly,and this supports dominance of a provenance dominated by felsic intrusions(i.e.,the A-type within-plate granite and associated pegmatites).Also,the felsic provenance is responsible for slight abnormality of ∑PU+Th content(up to~37 ppm)and few anomalous samples bear uraniferous zircon and Ce-type *** present paper sheds light on the fertility of the Dahab stream sediments in some economic minerals for possible future exploitation,not for gold only,but for potential REEbearing minerals that are needed for a wide spectrum of modern technological industries.

Mafic and felsic magmatism in the Wadi Kalalat area, South Eastern Desert, Egypt: mineralogy, geochemistry and geodynamic evolution during the Neoproterozoic in the Nubian Shield

In the south Eastern Desert of Egypt,two contrasting types of magmatism(mafic and felsic) are recorded in the Wadi Kalalat area,and form the Gabal el Motaghiarat and Gabal Batuga intrusions,*** two intrusions post-dates ophiolitic and arc associations represented by serpentinite and metagabbro-diorite,*** mafic intrusion has a basal ultramafic member represented by fresh peridotite,which is followed upward by olivine gabbro and anorthositic or *** mafic intrusion pertains to the Alaskan-type mafic-ultramafic intrusions in the Arabian-Nubian Shield(ANS)being of tholeiitic nature and emplaced in a typical arc *** the other hand,the Gabal Batuga intrusion comprises three varieties of fresh A-type granites of high K-calc alkaline nature,which is peraluminous and garnetbearing in parts.A narrow thermal aureole in the olivine gabbro of the mafic intrusion was developed due to the intrusion of the Batuga *** results in the development of a hornfelsic melagabbro variety in which the composition changed from tholeiitic to a calc-alkaline composition due to the addition of S_(i)O_(2),Al_(2)O_(3),alkalis,lithosphile elements(LILEs) such as Rb(70 ppm) and Y(28 ppm) from the felsic *** the thermal aureole,Rb amounts 2-8 ppm and Y lies in the range elieved that the Gabal Batuga felsic intrusion started to emplace during the waning stage of an arc system,with transition from the pre-collisional(i.e.,arc setting) to post-collisional and within plate *** from which the Gabal Batuga granites were fractionated is high-K calc-alkaline giving rise to a typical post-collisional A-type granite(A_(2)-subtype) indicating an origin from an underplating crustal ***,it is stressed here that the younger granites in the ANS are not exclusively post-collisional and within-plate but most likely they started to develop before closure of the arc *** possible source(s) of mafic magmas

Egyptian species of the leafhopper genus Exitianus Ball,1929,***(St?l,1855),***(Distant,1908),and *** Ross,1968 are ***,morphological descriptions,and a key for their identification are *** this study,we used molecular techniques to confirm morphological identification and detect phylogeny among the three Exitianus *** partial nucleotide sequences of the amplified products obtained were determined by Macrogen *** nucleotide sequences of 28S rDNA and COX genes of the EGY-ARC-9,EGY-ARC-4,and EGY-ARC-5 were determined by Macrogen Korea,blasted into BLAST at the National Center for Biotechnology Information website(NCBI)and compared with those deposited in the GenBank DNA *** results represented the homology percentage between the partial sequences of the 28S rRNA and COX genes from each species and related species obtained from GenBank DNA *** morphological identifications of the three Exitianus species were confirmed by molecular characterization and sequencing of 28S rDNA and COX genes and identified as ***,***,and ***,their sequences of 28srDNA and COX genes were deposited in GenBank with an accession number(LC670610,LC670607,and OQ196105)for 28srDNA gene and(LC775357,LC775358,and LC775359)for the COX gene.

Evaluation of urea breath test as a diagnostic tool for Helicobacter pylori infection in adult dyspeptic patients

In this editorial,we discuss the article in the World Journal of *** article conducts a meta-analysis of the diagnostic accuracy of the urea breath test(UBT),a non-invasive method for detecting Helicobacter pylori(***)infection in *** is based on radionuclide-labeled *** methods,both invasive and non-invasive,are available for diagnosing *** infection,inclu-ding endoscopy with biopsy,serology for immunoglobulin titers,stool antigen analysis,and *** guidelines recommend UBTs as the primary choice for diagnosing *** infection and for reexamining after eradication *** is used to be the first choice non-invasive test due to their high accuracy,specificity,rapid results,and ***,its performance remains unaffected by the distribution of *** in the stomach,allowing a high flow of patients to be *** its widespread use,the performance characteristics of UBT have been inconsistently described and remain incompletely *** are two UBTs available with Food and Drug Administration approval:The 13C and 14C *** tests are affordable and can provide real-time *** may prefer the 13C test because it is non-radioactive,compared to 14C which uses a radioactive isotope,especially in young children and pregnant *** there was heterogeneity among the studies regarding the diagnostic accuracy of both UBTs,13C-UBT consistently outperforms the *** makes the 13C-UBT the preferred diagnostic ***,the provided findings of the meta-analysis emphasize the significance of precise considerations when choosing urea dosage,assessment timing,and measurement techniques for both the 13C-UBT and 14C-UBT,to enhance diagnostic precision.

Hydrogeochemical Characteristics and Assessment of Water Resources in Beni Suef Governorate, Egypt

The main target of this research is to investigate the hydrogeochemical characteristics of surface and groundwater resources in Beni Suef Governorate, Egypt. A combination of major and heavy metals has been used to characterize surface and groundwater in Beni Suef Governorate, Egypt. Twenty water samples were collected from the water resources: River Nile, el-Ibrahimia canal, Bahr Youssef, irrigation and drainage channels and Quaternary aquifer. The collected water samples were analyzed for major and heavy metals. Surface and groundwater in the study area are considered potable for drink and irrigation based on the TDS and major ions concentrations. Regarding the MPL quoted by the WHO [1] and FAO [2], water resources in the study area are polluted by Al, Cd, Fe, Mn, Co and Cu. The highest concentrations of Al, Cd, Fe, Mn, Co and Cu recorded in the study area were 2545, 400, 1415, 2158, 239 and 1080 μg/l, respectively. Both surface and groundwater in Beni Suef suffer from pollution due to the impact of unsupervised anthropogenic activities including: fertilizers and pesticide, waste disposal and industrial waste, seepage from septic tanks, construction of water pipes, wastewater from el-Moheet drainage and evaporation processes during flood irrigation.

The role of polymorphic cytochrome P450 gene(CYP2B6)in B-chronic lymphocytic leukemia(B-CLL)incidence and outcome among Egyptian patients

Cytochromes P450(CYPs)play a prominent role in catalyzing phase I xenobiotic biotransformation and account for about 75%of the total metabolism of commercially available drugs,including *** gene expression and enzyme activity of CYPs are variable between individuals,which subsequently leads to different patterns of susceptibility to carcinogenesis by genotoxic xenobiotics,as well as differences in the efficacy and toxicity of clinically used *** research aimed to examine the presence of the CYP2B6*9 polymorphism and its possible association with the incidence of B-CLL in Egyptian patients,as well as the clinical outcome after receiving cyclophosphamide *** was isolated from whole blood samples of 100 de novo B-CLL cases and also from 100 sex-and age-matched healthy *** presence of the CYP2B6*9(G516T)polymorphism was examined by PCR-based allele specific amplification(ASA).Patients were further indicated for receiving chemotherapy,and then they were followed *** CYP2B6*9 variant indicated a statistically significant higher risk of B-CLL under different genetic models,comprising allelic(T-allele vs.G-allele,OR=4.8,pely to achieve remission compared to those with the wild-type genotype(GG),with a response percentage of(37.5%vs.83%,respectively).In conclusion,our findings showed that the CYP2B6*9(G516T)polymorphism is associated with B-CLL susceptibility among Egyptian *** variant greatly affected the clinical outcome and can serve as a good therapeutic marker in predicting response to cyclophosphamide treatment.

Standardization of meibomian gland dysfunction in an Egyptian population sample using a non-contact meibography technique

AIM:To develop normative data for meibomian gland dysfunction(MGD)parameters,using non-contact meibography technique of Sirius Costruzione Strumenti Oftalmici(CSO)machine,in an Egyptian population ***:Observational,cross-sectional,analytic study,in which 104 Egyptian volunteers were *** upper lids were examined,using“Sirius CSO”*** eyelid was given a degree of meibomian gland loss(MGL),which was calculated by the software of the ***:Mean percentage MGL in right upper lid was of 30.9%±12.6%,and that of left upper lid was 32.6%±11.8%.Thirty-four volunteers(32.7%)had first-degree MGL in their right upper lid,and 67.3%had second-degree *** volunteer(1%)had zero-degree MGL in left upper lid,28(26.9%)had first-degree loss,and 75(72.1%)had second-degree *** of MGL in right upper eyelid was not related to age,but degree of MGL in left upper eyelid increased with *** was statistically significant difference between both genders for degree of MGL in right eye(P=0.036)and in left eye(P=0.027).CONCLUSION:Noncontact meibography is a useful non-invasive tool for diagnosing *** is diagnosed in 100%of apparently normal individuals;26.9%-32.7%of which have first-degree MGL,and 67.3%-72.1%have second-degree MGL.

Intravesical instillation of platelet-rich plasma for treatment of interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome:A pilot study

Objective:The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of intravesical instillation of platelet-rich plasma(PRP)to treat interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome(IC/BPS).Materials and methods:Twenty PRP samples were tested in vitro for stability after exposure to urine samples with different pH.A pilot study involving 21 female patients with IC/BPS was conducted,and 6 weekly doses of autologous PRP(50 mL)were *** were followed up at the 2nd,4th,8th,and 12th weeks after terminating *** primary endpoint was the visual analog scale(VAS)for pain,and the secondary endpoints included the IC symptom index,IC problem index of the O'Leary-Sant questionnaire and global response assessment,urine culture,and *** was defined as a reduction in VAS by 30%or more compared with basal level,and adverse events were ***:The mean±SD of VAS was significantly reduced compared with basal level(4.4±2.6 vs.8.8±1.1,respectively,p=0.001).Meanwhile,80%of cases were considered successful,with a 50.1%reduction in the mean score compared with the basal *** mean±SD of IC symptom index and IC problem index significantly improved compared with the basal *** response assessment was markedly,moderately,and slightly improved in 2(10%),10(50%),and 5(25%)patients,respectively,and showed no change in 3(15%).Three patients had positive urine cultures at follow-up,but 1 withdrew after 2 sessions because of a lack of ***:Repeated intravesical instillation of PRP could be considered an effective and safe approach for treating IC/BPS.

Gastroesophageal reflux after per-oral endoscopic myotomy:Management literature

In this editorial,we respond to a review article by Nabi et al,in which the authors discussed gastroesophageal reflux(GER)following peroral endoscopic myotomy(POEM).POEM is presently the primary therapeutic option for achalasia,which is both safe and effective.A few adverse effects were documented after POEM,including *** diagnostic criteria were not clear enough because approximately 60%of patients have a long acid exposure time,while only 10%experience reflux *** predictors of high disease incidence have been identified,including old age,female sex,obesity,and a baseline lower esophageal sphincter pressure of less than 45 *** technical steps during the procedure,such as a lengthy or full-thickness myotomy,may further enhance the *** pump inhibitors are currently the first line of *** voices are increasingly advocating for the routine combining of POEM with an endoscopic fundoplication method,such as peroral endoscopic fundoplication or transoral incisionless ***,more research is necessary to determine the safety and effectiveness of these procedures in the long term for patients who have undergone them.

Pyronaridine combined with diminazene aceturate inhibits Babesia in vitro and in vivo

Objective:To evaluate the combination therapy of pyronaridine tetraphosphate and diminazene aceturate against Babesia in vitro and in ***:Bioinformatic analysis was performed using atom pair *** in vitro combination test was performed against Babesia bovis and Theileria ***,the in vivo chemotherapeutic efficacy of pyronaridine tetraphosphate in combination with diminazene aceturate was investigated against the growth of Babesia microti in mice using a fluorescence inhibitory ***:Pyronaridine tetraphosphate and diminazene aceturate exhibited nearly similar molecular *** in vitro combination of pyronaridine tetraphosphate and diminazene aceturate was synergistic on Babesia bovis and additive on Theileria *** addition,5 mg/kg pyronaridine tetraphosphate combined with 10 mg/kg diminazene aceturate inhibited Babesia microti growth significantly compared with those observed after treatment with 25 mg/kg diminazene aceturate alone from day 6 post treatment to day 12 post *** combination therapy also normalized the hematological parameters of infected ***:An oral dose of pyronaridine tetraphosphate combined with a subcutaneous dose of diminazene aceturate inhibits Babesia in vitro and in mice,suggesting it might be a new paradigm for the treatment of babesiosis.
