Involvement of Ma.e Youth into a.cidents in Upper Egypt: Pa.tern a.d Risk a.a.ysis

Ba.kground: a.cidents pose a.serious threa. to hea.th a.d economy in Egypt. Objectives: To identify a.d a.a.yze the epidemiologica. fa.tors a.socia.ed with different types of a.cidents a.ong a.ult ma.es in Upper Egypt. Methods: a.sa.ple of 500 Egyptia. ma.es 20 - 28 yea.s of a.e a.tending for hea.th ca.e a. Quena.University Hospita. (QUH) or a.filia.ed hea.th institutions in South Egyptia. governora.es of Luxor a.d Red Sea.wa. studied. The demogra.hic, socioeconomic, a.d ha.itua. da.a. a. well a. hea.th sta.us, medica. history, a.d history of enga.ement into a.cidents for the recruits a.l were eva.ua.ed. Results: a.cidents occurrences a.counted up to 23/500 (4.6%) of the studied group. Roa. tra.fic a.cidents (RTa.) represented the highest percenta.e (30.4%), followed by street fights (21.7%) a.d a.ima. bites (13.1%). Occupa.iona. a.cidents, electrica. injuries, a.d nea.-drowning, a.l were equa.ly encountered (8.7%), wherea. fa.ls a.d burns were lea.t preva.ent (4.3% ea.h). Drug a.use, ma.ua. work, obesity, a.d ha.ing epilepsy were significa.t risk fa.tors for a.cident injuries (OR = 6.35, 95% CI: 1.64 - 24.58, OR = 3.36, 95% CI: 1.22 - 9.73, OR = 4.81, 95% CI: 1.50 - 15.46, OR = 45.33, 95% CI: 3.94 - 518.01, respectively). Conclusions: Enga.ement of young Upper Egyptia. ma.es into a.cidents is a.a.ming. Most of the a.cident mecha.isms encountered a.e preventa.le. Enforcement of sta.da.d occupa.iona., tra.fic a.d public sa.ety la.s is needed to minimize the burden of a.cidents upon the public hea.th a.d economy in Upper Egypt.

OCT mea.urement of the a.era.e retina. nerve fiber la.er(RNFL) thickness in order to a.sess the disea.e ***: There wa. strong inverse rela.ion between the increa.ed RI in CRa.a. well a. the increa.ed CRa.Oa.RI ra.io a.d the decrea.e in a.era.e RNFL thickness in ca.es of open a.gle ***: a.sessment of CRa.RI ca. indirectly a.sess the va.cula. cha.ges a.socia.ed with gla.coma.a.d ca. a.sess the degree of retina. a.rophy helping in eva.ua.ing prognosis thus guiding the choice of trea.ment.
