Sign language includes the motion of the arms and hands to communicate with people with hearing *** models have been available in the literature for sign language detection and classification for enhanced *** the latest advancements in computer vision enable us to perform signs/gesture recognition using deep neural *** paper introduces an Arabic Sign Language Gesture Classification using Deer Hunting Optimization with Machine Learning(ASLGC-DHOML)*** presented ASLGC-DHOML technique mainly concentrates on recognising and classifying sign language *** presented ASLGC-DHOML model primarily pre-processes the input gesture images and generates feature vectors using the densely connected network(DenseNet169)*** gesture recognition and classification,a multilayer perceptron(MLP)classifier is exploited to recognize and classify the existence of sign language ***,the DHO algorithm is utilized for parameter optimization of the MLP *** experimental results of the ASLGC-DHOML model are tested and the outcomes are inspected under distinct *** comparison analysis highlighted that the ASLGC-DHOML method has resulted in enhanced gesture classification results than other techniques with maximum accuracy of 92.88%.

Health related-physical fitness (HRPF) is critical for maintaining and enhancing health and quality of life. Purposes: To estimate the reference values and predictive equations for frequently used clinical field HRPF measures in a sample of Saudi female college students aged 18 - 24 years. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, body fat percentage (BF %) was estimated. Curl-up test (CUT) and sit and reach test (SRT) were applied in 216 students. The Queen’s College Step Test (QCST) was used to predict maximal oxygen consumption (VO2 max). Physical activity (PA) level was also measured using International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). Results: The mean of BF %, SRT, CUT, and predicted VO2 max were 23.98% ± 6.13%, 17.10 ± 7.50 cm, 28.17 ± 7.72 number/min, and 39.58 ± 4.01 ml/kg/min respectively. There was no significant effect of age on all HRPF measures except for BF % (F (6,215) = 3.25, p (6,215) = 4.01, p strated that BMI was the predictor for BF % and SRT and explained 65% and 4% of total variance respectively. IPAQ score, age, and height were the predictors of CUT counting 17% of total variance. While, BMI and IPAQ score were the predictors for VO2 max and explained 13% of the total variance. Conclusion: Reference values can be used clinically in the evaluation of HRPF, in the rehabilitation process as well as in designing a program to improve the HRPF for female college students with consideration of age, height, BMI, and PA level for a particular population.

Removal of Phenol Using Spore Forming Bacillus ABO11 Isolated from Waste Water Treatment Plant

Twenty isolates of bacteria were isolated from contaminated wastewater collected from wastewater treatment station, used to clean the raw sewage at Jeddah on minimal medium containing phenol (0.5 g/l) as carbon source while at 0.6 g/l phenol, five isolates belonging to Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria were obtained after 10 days of growth at 37°C. All the tested bacteria were tested for phenol degradation in liquid medium and isolate ABO11 was the most active isolate in phenol degradation. It was selected and tested for the ability to use phenol as carbon and energy source. It was identified as Bacillus sterothermophilus ABO11 using morphological and biochemical tests. Genetic studies confirmed the identification. Bacterial growth and phenol degradation by the selected bacterium were determined using different initial phenol concentrations (0 - 1.0 g/l). Very weak growth was recorded at 0.8 g/l and no growth or degradation was observed at higher phenol concentration. The isolate was adapted to grow in presence of 0.8 g/l phenol and phenol degradation was checked up to 12 days of growth. Percentage of degradation was 100% after 10 days. Maximum growth was observed at 40°C, pH 8 and using NH4Cl as nitrogen source. In conclusion, the selected isolate, Bacillus sterothermophilus ABO11 can be used in protecting the environment from phenol pollution.

Nurses’ Knowledge and Attitude Regarding Evidence-Based Practice: An Integrative Review

Background: As a result of its influence on nurses’ knowledge and practice, evidence-based practice (EBP) has gained prominence in the nursing profession. Therefore, evidence-based practice (EBP) is increasingly acknowledged as a critical component of improving the quality of healthcare and nursing care services, as well as achieving patient care excellence. Aim: One of the primary objectives of this review is to consolidate the existing research on nurses’ understanding of evidence-based practice, attitudes toward it, and practices related to it. Methods: The following databases from 2012 to 2021 have been searched such as: Cochrane Collaboration, MEDLINE, AVOID, CINAHL, EMBASE, Science Direct, ASSIA, Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed and JSTOR. Only cohort, case-control and randomized controlled trials studies with full text in English were eligible. Results: Only eight articles were found to meet the inclusion criteria out of 2155 total articles after the exclusion criteria were applied. The majority of these eight researches discovered a favourable attitude about EBP as well as a low level of expertise. Conclusion: The majority of nurses have a good attitude toward their job, but most are uninformed of the significance of EBP in their profession. In order to recognize and compare the components that may impact knowledge, attitude, and practices of EBP throughout the world in order to discover similarities that may assist global strategies for the transfer of research results to nursing, additional research on this topic is required to recognize and compare the components that may impact knowledge, attitude, and practices of EBP throughout the world in order to discover similarities that may assist global strategies for the transfer of research results to nursing.

Cervical Ripening and Induction of Labor: Awareness, Knowledge, Perception and Attitude of Antenatal Care-Seeking Women at Zagazig University Hospital, Zagazig, Egypt

To assess awareness, knowledge and perceptions of antenatal care-seeking women about cervical ripening (CR) and induction of labor (IOL), and their attitude towards these interventions. Methods: An observational descriptive cross-sectional study which was conducted at an Egyptian teaching hospital. A questionnaire-based interview covered items on women’s demographic and clinical data, as well as their awareness, knowledge, perception and attitude towards specific methods of CR and IOL. Results: A total of 853 questionnaires were analyzed, and 442 respondents (51.8%) were aware of CR and IOL. Knowledge of Oxytocin use was noted in 215 participants (48.6%), of membrane sweeping in 85 (19.2%), of Foley’s catheter in 110 (24.9%) and of Misoprostol in 84 (19.0%). The procedures were perceived to prevent cesarean section in 219 respondents (49.5%). History of previous IOL was a predictor of awareness (OR: 5.19, 95% CI: 1.6 – 11.23, p = 0.001*). Conclusion: This study showed that only a slightly more than 50% of participants were aware of CR and IOL, and the overall knowledge and perception were sub-optimal. Nevertheless, the attitudes towards the procedures were positive. Improved counselling is required in order to further increase knowledge about CR and IOL, and also correct misbelieves particularly in women at risk of undergoing IOL.

Forehead Flap in Coverage of Nasal Defects: Our Experience

Background: Coverage of post-traumatic or post-oncosurgical nasal defects is a very challenging procedure. Small nasal defects may be covered by skin grafts or small local flaps while larger nasal defects require more complex flap coverage techniques as using tissue expanders, prefabricated flaps or free flaps. The forehead flap has been used for centuries and remains a workhorse flap for reconstruction of large and complex nasal defects. Aim: evaluate the feasibility and versatility of forehead flap for resurfacing nasal defects. Materials and Methods: 12 patients underwent coverage of nasal defects after trauma or tumor excision using forehead flaps. All flaps needed a second stage for flap separation 3 weeks after the time of operation. The size of the harvested flap, the harvesting time, results of transferred flaps, patient satisfaction and flap-related complications were analyzed. Results: 12 patients (10 males and 2 females) underwent reconstruction of different nasal defects using 12 forehead flaps. The overall complications occurred in 2 patients. The remaining 10 patients showed no complications and passed an uneventful follow-up period. 7 Patients were very satisfied, 4 were satisfied and only one patient was not satisfied as she was 23 years old young female and was subjected to human bite. Follow-up periods ranged from 6 to 12 months. Conclusion: Nasal defects can successfully be managed with the forehead flap. Probably, the flap provides the best result due to the good matching of the skin in terms of color, texture, and thickness. Also, despite the increasing use of free flaps, the forehead flap is still a valid and safe option for nasal defects coverage that allows good aesthetics and functional outcomes.

Prevalence of Maternal Anemia in Pregnancy: The Effect of Maternal Hemoglobin Level on Pregnancy and Neonatal Outcome

Objective: The aim of our study is to assess the prevalence of anemia in pregnant women, and to evaluate the effect of severity of anemia on maternal and perinatal outcome. Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology from hospital records. Study population of all pregnant women who had delivered in our hospital after twenty weeks gestation between July 2014 and December 2016. Results: A total of 2654 pregnant women fulfilled the inclusion criteria, 42% were anemic, 83.3% mild anemia group (I) which represents the majority of patients and 16.7% moderate to severe anemia group (II). The majority of cases were due to iron deficiency anemia 92.8%, while 7.2% were due to sickle cell trait, B-thalassemia intermedia, and other causes. The incidence of postpartum hemorrhage, cesarean delivery, and infections was significantly higher in group II compared to group I (5.4%, 40.3%, 3.8% Vs, 2.9%, 31.0%, 2.0%;p = 0.007, 0.041, 0.043 respectively). Low Apgar score, preterm labor, and low birth weight babies were significantly higher in group II compared to group I (11.8%, 12.9%, 11.3% Vs 8.7%, 9.0%, 7.4%;p = 0.034, 0.046, 0.032). Conclusions: This study clarified that anemia is prevalent among pregnant women particularly mild anemia. Early diagnosis and treatment from first trimester has an essential role in managing maternal anemia and it reflects directly on the perinatal outcome. Prematurity, low birth weight infants, and postpartum hemorrhage are the commonest maternal and neonatal complications.

The Impact of Third Trimester Maternal Serum Vitamin B12 and Folate Status on Fetal Birth Weight. Is Maternal Serum Homocysteine a Predictor of Low Birth Weight Infants?

Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate vitamin B12, folate, and homocysteine status in pregnant women in the third trimester of pregnancy and their relationship to fetal birth weight and their correlation to corresponding neonatal cord blood levels, and in addition, to evaluate the possibility of maternal serum homocysteine level as a predictor of low birth weight infants. Subjects and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, a total of two hundred pregnant women in third trimester (≥28 weeks) were recruited. After a detailed obstetrical and medical history, and clinical assessment, participants were subdivided into two groups: Group (A)—pregnant women who delivered average birth weight (ABW) infants and Group (B) for those who delivered low birth weight (LBW) infants between completed 37 and 42 weeks. Results: Vitamin B12 deficiency was observed in 24.1% of the total cohort. The mean vitamin B12 level was significantly lower in group (B) compared to group (A) (195.2 ± 38.9 vs. 225.9 ± 66.59 respectively P = 0.008). The mean level of homocysteine for women in group (B) was significantly higher than those determined from women in group (A) (9.10 ± 5.9 vs. 7.6 ± 3.83 respectively, P = 0.042). On the other hand, the mean folate levels showed statistically insignificant differences between both groups. The mean cord vitamin B12 level was significantly lower in LBW infants in comparison to ABW infants (277 ± 61.93 vs. 312.03 ± 81.87 respectively, P = 0.015), while the mean level of cord homocysteine for LBW infants was significantly higher than those levels determined from ABW infants (7.9 ± 3.79 vs. 6.6 ± 2.09 respectively P = 0.0049). Conclusion: Maternal micronutrients particularly cobalamin deficiency could be significant risk for LBW infants. Hyperhomocysteinemia has been shown to be a predictor for adverse pregnancy outcomes particularly LBW.

In this paper, Laplace decomposition method (LDM) and Pade approximant are employed to find approximate solutions for the Whitham-Broer-Kaup shallow water model, the coupled nonlinear reaction diffusion equations and the system of Hirota-Satsuma coupled KdV. In addition, the results obtained from Laplace decomposition method (LDM) and Pade approximant are compared with corresponding exact analytical solutions.

Inhibition Mechanism of Pitting Corrosion of Nickel in Aqueous Medium by Some Macrocyclic Compounds

Anodic polarization of nickel was studied by potentiostatic technique in neutral media in presence of two macrocyclic ligands. Pit initiation was detected by measuring pitting potential, Ep and the charge transfer, Q during the anodic polarization. Initiation of pitting and Q were found to be dependent on the structure and concentrations of inhibitors. Under steady state conditions, the inhibition efficiency was in the order 1, 4, 8, 11 tetraazacyclotetradecane (cyclam) > N, N’-bis (2-aminoethyl) 1, 3-propandiamine (2,3,2-tet) due to macrocyclic effect. These findings were confirmed by fitting the data to different adsorption isotherms. Adsorption on nickel surface was obeyed kinetic-thermodynamic model for the two inhibitors. Influence of [Cl–] on corrosion behavior of nickel in sulphate solution containing inhibitors was investigated. A mechanism involving three competitive equilibria of dissolution of nickel in presence and absence of the inhibitors was proposed. Empirical and theoretical kinetic equations were compared and discussed. There is a good agreement between the calculated and observed rate constants.
