Exploitation of the antibacterial,antibiofilm and antioxidant activities of salvadora Persica(Miswak)extract

The salvadora persica(***)*** stick,usually known as miswak,is still being em-ployed as an oral hygiene agent for plaque and gingivitis *** study aims to assess the antibacterial,antibiofilm,antioxidant,and phytochemical profile of *** *** ***-sica was purchased from a local market,grinded and extracted with petroleum *** disk dif-fusion,microdilution,and micro-plate assays were performed to evaluate the antibacterial and an-tibiofilm activities of the prepared extract at different concentrations against𝛽-lactam resistance streptococcus *** radical scavenging 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)and stable radical cationic chromophore,2,2-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonate)(ABTs)methods were used to determine their antioxidant *** and spectrometric analyses were performed using gas chromatography-mass(GC-Ms)*** minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)of *** extract against𝛽-lactam resistance streptococcus species ranged from 6.25 to 12.5 mg/*** maximum suppression of biofilm formation by *** extract was observed at MIC with a percentage of 68.66%,against streptococcus *** *** ex-tract exhibited antioxidant activity with IC 50 of 20μg/mL and 35μg/mL from DPPH and ABTs,*** phytochemical characterization showed the presence of 22 compounds with ma-jor compounds;benzyl isothiocyanate(36.21%)and n-hexadecanoic acid(27.62%).The *** extract exhibited antibacterial activity against𝛽-lactam resistant streptococcus species,showing a promising natural alternative that could be a treatment option.

Emerging insights into the function of very long chain fatty acids at cerebellar synapses

Very long chain-saturated and-polyunsaturated fatty acids(VLC-sFA and VLC-PUFA, respectively) are a functionally important class of fatty acids containing 28 carbons or more in their acyl chain. They are synthesized by the elongation of very long fatty acids-4(elOVL4) enzyme, expressed mainly in the brain, retina, skin, testes, and meibomian gland, where these fatty acids are found(Agbaga et al., 2008). Further, these organs exhibit tissuespecific VLC-PUFA and VLC-sFA biosynthesis and incorporation into complex lipids for specific functions. In the brain, skin, and Meibomian glands, the elOVL4 mainly makes VLC-sFA, which are incorporated into complex sphingolipids. In the retina, the elOVL4 makes VLC-PUFA that are incorporated into phosphatidylcholine, that are critical for visual function, while in testes and sperm, the VLC-PUFA are incorporated into sphingolipids that are critical for fertility(Yeboah et al., 2021).

IDssCNN-XgBoost:Improved Dual-stream shallow Convolutional Neural Network Based on Extreme Gradient Boosting Algorithm for Micro Expression Recognition

Micro-expressions(ME)recognition is a complex task that requires advanced techniques to extract informative features fromfacial *** deep neural networks(DNNs)with convolutional structures have been ***,unlike DNNs,shallow convolutional neural networks often outperform deeper models in mitigating overfitting,particularly with small ***,many of these methods rely on a single feature for recognition,resulting in an insufficient ability to extract highly effective *** address this limitation,in this paper,an Improved Dual-stream shallow Convolutional Neural Network based on an Extreme Gradient Boosting Algorithm(IDssCNN-XgBoost)is introduced for ME *** proposed method utilizes a dual-stream architecture where motion vectors(temporal features)are extracted using Optical Flow TV-L1 and amplify subtle changes(spatial features)via EulerianVideoMagnification(EVM).These features are processed by IDssCNN,with an attention mechanism applied to refine the extracted effective *** outputs are then fused,concatenated,and classified using the XgBoost *** comprehensive approach significantly improves recognition accuracy by leveraging the strengths of both temporal and spatial information,supported by the robust classification power of *** proposed method is evaluated on three publicly available ME databases named Chinese Academy of sciences Micro-expression Database(CAsMEII),spontaneous Micro-Expression Database(sMICHs),and spontaneous Actions and Micro-Movements(sAMM).Experimental results indicate that the proposed model can achieve outstanding results compared to recent *** accuracy results are 79.01%,69.22%,and 68.99%on CAsMEII,sMIC-Hs,and sAMM,and the F1-score are 75.47%,68.91%,and 63.84%,*** proposed method has the advantage of operational efficiency and less computational time.

We discuss a particular d-dimensional Gauss- Ronnet-dilatonie universe compactified on s^1 motivated from Mtheory. We examine the time-evolution of the dynamical equations where many interesting consequences are revealed and discussed in some details. Under reasonable conditions, the discussed model can provide a mechanism to realize, in higher-dimensions （d 〉 4）, the accelerated expansion of the universe in the presence of dark energy, without the presence of phantom energy and without the contraction of some internal dimension.

Phase Transitions in the Early Universe with Negatively Induced supergravity Cosmological Constant

We consider that the observable cosmological constant is the sum of the vacuum （Avac） and the induced term （Aind - 3m^2/4） with m being the ultra-llght masses （≈ Hubble parameter） implemented in the theory from supergravities arguments and non-minimal coupling. In the absence of a scalar buildup of matter fields, we study its effects on spontaneous symmetry breaking with a Higgs potential and show how the presence of the ultra-light masses yields some important consequences for the early universe and new constraints on the Higgs and electroweak gauge bosons masses.
