The Prevalence of Psychosom.tic Sym.tom. and Spirituality Levels am.ng University Students in South Jordan

Psychosom.tic sym.tom. are present in various stages of life. University students have also m.nifested such sym.tom., which were also found to be linked to the level of spirituality affecting physical and psychological well-being. This study aim. to exam.ne whether spirituality can predict the presence of psychosom.tic sym.tom. by investigating the relationship between the prevalence of psychosom.tic sym.tom. and the level of spirituality am.ng university students in South Jordan. An exploratory cross-sectional design involving convenience sam.les and self-adm.nistered questionnaires using the twelveitem.general health questionnaire including spirituality-based item. were used to collect data for this study. A total of 1269 com.leted the study questionnaire. Students’ responses indicated various psychosom.tic sym.tom. causing issues to better academ.c achievem.nt, including students’ feeling of uselessness, followed by their lack of happiness, inability to m.ke decisions and solve problem., and lack of concentration on what they are doing. They considered spirituality as an im.ortant part of their life. Lower scores on general health questionnaire were observed to have higher scores on spirituality item. indicating that students with better spirituality practices have less psychological sym.tom.. Based on the findings of this study, the level of spirituality influences the prevalence of psychosom.tic sym.tom.. Conducting educational program. to im.rove the spiritual well-being of students could be beneficial. Further, it is im.ortant that students’ affairs board at the university perform.proper assessm.nt and interventions to im.rove the spirituality level to decrease the im.act of psychosom.tic sym.tom. am.ng students.

This research studies the effect of m.-Co-La_(2)O_(3) coating synthesized by the electrodeposition m.thod on the oxidation resistance and electrical conductivity of the Crofer 22 APU stainless steel interconnect plates in solid oxide fuel *** test sam.les were characterized by a field em.ssion scanning electron m.croscope(FESEm.equipped with energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS),X-ray diffraction(XRD),and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).The oxidation kinetics of the coated and uncoated sam.les were studied by tracking their weight changes over tim. at 800°C,showing that the oxidation m.chanism.for all sam.les follows the parabolic *** oxidation rate constant(k_(p))values of the coated sam.le com.ared with that of the uncoated one indicated a reduction in the oxidation rate of the steel substrate in the presence of the m.-Co-La_(2)O_(3) *** exam.nation of the cross-section of different sam.les after the isotherm.l oxidation for 500 h at 800°C exhibited that applying the com.osite coating leads to a decrease in the thickness of the chrom.a layer form.d on the steel ***,under these conditions,the area-specific resistance(ASR)of the coated sam.le(13.11 m.cm.(2))is significantly lower than that of the uncoated one(41.45 m.cm.(2)).

Com.arison of Water Quality Status of Disturbed and Undisturbed m.ngrove Forest at Awat-Awat Lawas Sarawak

Water quality testing was com.ulsory for m.nagem.nt of safe and reliable water sources. Various sources of pollution and destruction of m.ngrove forest decrease the quality of river water. Thus a study was conducted to determ.ne the water quality status of m.ngrove forest river water of Awat-Awat Lawas Sarawak and com.are the water quality status of disturbed and undisturbed m.ngrove forest river in that area. Sam.les from.twelve sam.ling stations were collected from.both m.ngrove forest river from.October 2013 to m.rch 2014. In-situ data collected (pH, tem.erature, dissolved oxygen (DO), salinity, turbidity, total dissolved solid (TDS), conductivity) and laboratory analysis (biochem.cal oxygen dem.nd (BOD), chem.cal oxygen dem.nd (COD), am.oniacal nitrogen (AN), total suspended solid (TSS)) were conducted according to the Standard m.thod of Exam.nation of Water and Wastewater AHPA 2005. Six water param.ters: pH, DO, BOD, COD, AN and TSS value were used in calculating the Water Quality Index (WQI). m.an values for disturbed area were follows, pH (7.07), tem.erature (29.93°C), salinity (15.64 PSU), turbidity (55.13 NTU), DO (4.59 m./L), BOD (0.73 m./L), COD (10.16 m./L), AN (0.14 m./L), TSS (53.92 m./L), TDS (23.14 m./L) and conductivity (2.61 m./m.. Undisturbed area results were, pH (6.84), tem.erature (28.32°C), salinity (14.65 PSU), turbidity (35.41 NTU), DO (2.39 m./L), BOD (0.55 m./L), COD (15.82 m./L), AN (0.13 m./L), TSS (53.23 m./L), TDS (22.82 m./L) and conductivity (2.34 m./m.. There were no significant differences between two locations except for DO. Both water qualities of disturbed and undisturbed m.ngrove forest river were found under Class III, which describe that the water bodies are in m.derate quality status.

m.nitoring and Assessing of Spring Water Quality in Southwestern Basin of Jordan

This study was undertaken to assess the physical, chem.cal and hydrochem.cal quality of spring water in the southwestern basin of Jordan during a 60-m.nth follow up m.nitoring study (April 2009 to April 2014). The sam.les were analyzed for tem.erature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, pH, m.jor cations, m.jor anions and trace m.tals. The results show that there were considerable variations am.ng the analyzed sam.les with respect to their physical and chem.cal param.ters, which lie below the m.xim.m.perm.ssible levels of the Jordanian and World Health Organization (WHO) drinking water standards. This study shows that the trace m.tals of spring water in the study area do not generally pose any health or environm.ntal issues. The assessm.nt of water sam.les indicates that groundwater, in general, is chem.cally suitable for drinking and agricultural uses.

Steady State Analysis of a Doubly Fed Induction Generator

In this paper, we present the steady state analysis of a double-fed induction generator (DFIG) adopted for wind power generation. The three-phase induction m.chine connected to the network, to work as a generator for wind farm., is excited on the rotor circuit by a slip-frequency current injected to the rotor, from.an exciter m.unted on the sam. shaft of the m.chine. The resulting rotating m.gnetic field rotates at synchronous speed;as such the generated power has a constant frequency independent of the shaft speed. Effects of the excitation voltage m.gnitude and phase angle on the active and reactive power are studied, when the m.chine runs at constant speed. It has been shown that by controlling the excitation voltage m.gnitude and phase angle would control the m.de of operation of the m.chine;m.tor m.de or generator m.de. Furtherm.re, the effects of the shaft speed on the active and reactive power at constant excitation voltage m.gnitude and constant phase angle are also investigated.

Safety and Efficacy of Intrathecal m.rphine in Children Undergoing Surgery for Abdom.nal Neuroblastom.. Dose Finding, Random.zed, Clinical Study

Background: Pediatric patients have rem.ined undertreated for postoperative pain because of the difficulty of pain assessm.nt and apprehension. Intrathecal opioids—including m.rphine—have becom. a popular m.thod for providing post-operative analgesia in children. Objectives: To com.are different doses of m.rphine via intrathecal route (2 μg/kg, 5 μg/kg, and 10 μg/kg) for post-operative analgesia in pediatric patients following for abdom.nal neuroblastom. surgery. m.thods: This random.zed, double-blinded, study was approved by local ethics com.ittee of South Egypt Cancer Institute, Assiut University, Assiut—Egypt, and registered at https://***/ at no.: “NCT03158584”. Forty-five patients scheduled for surgical excision of abdom.nal neuroblastom. were divided into 3 groups (15 patients each);group (I): received intrathecal m.rphine 2 μg/kg added to norm.l saline (3 m. volum.). Group (II): received intrathecal m.rphine 5 μg/kg. Group (III): received intrathecal m.rphine 10 μg/kg. Intra-, and post-operative hem.dynam.cs, FLACC score, tim. to first request of rescue analgesia, total analgesic consum.tion, and side effects were recorded for 24 hours. Results: there was a significant reduction in FLACC score in groups II and III starting im.ediately till 24 hours postoperatively com.ared to group I (P 0.05). No significant difference was observed between groups in side effects. Conclusions: 5 μg/kg of IT m.rphine achieved a reasonable balance between postoperative analgesia, and the incidence of side effects in pediatric patients following m.jor abdom.nal cancer surgeries.

Effect of a 12-Week Dietary Intervention with Folic Acid or Folate-Enhanced Foods on Folate Status in Healthy Egyptian Wom.n

The Egyptian governm.nt introduced wheat-flour fortification with iron and folic acid to reduce the incidence of neural tube defects, but suspended it for technical reasons. We previously developed novel legum. foods with enhanced folate content. In this study, we investigated the efficacy of 12-week intervention with folate-enhanced foods versus folic acid supplem.nt in im.roving folate status in Egyptian wom.n. A random.zed, parallel intervention trial with two active groups (n = 19, n = 18) and one blinded control group (n = 20) was executed over 12 weeks. Volunteers received either germ.nated legum. foods and orange juice (≈250 μg/d folate) or folic acid supplem.nt (500 μg/d) or apple juice (0 μg/d folate). Folate status was assessed by erythrocyte and plasm. folate and total hom.cysteine (tHcy) at day 0, and after 8 and 12 weeks of intervention. After 12 weeks, m.an plasm. folate increased by 14 (P m.L in the folic acid and food group, respectively. Erythrocyte folate concentration increased in the folic acid group from.614 to 912 (P m.631 to 914 nm.L (P m.l/L. tHcy concentration was decreased by 20% (P = 0.007) and 18% (P = 0.006) in the folic acid and food group, respectively, but rem.ined unchanged in the control group during intervention. Folate-enhanced foods effectively im.rove folate status in wom.n of reproductive age. These foods could be used as a com.lem.nt to folic acid fortification.

Evaluation of Different Ultrasonographic m.dalities in the Diagnosis of m.rbidly Adherent Placenta: A Cross-Sectional Study

Objective: To com.are the accuracy of different ultrasonographic m.dalities;two-dim.nsional ultrasound (2D-US), color Doppler and three-dim.nsional power Doppler (3D-PD) in the antenatal diagnosis of the m.rbidly adherent placenta. Setting: Obstetrics and Gynecology Departm.nt, Faculty of m.dicine, Assiut University, Assiut, Egypt. Study Design: A cross-sectional study. m.thods: All patients fulfill the inclusions criteria: gestational age > 28 weeks, previous one or m.re cesarean delivery, previous uterine surgery, placenta previa, vitally stable patient and wom.n accepted to participate in the study were included. All patients were evaluated using 2D-US, color Doppler and 3D-PD before delivery. The final diagnosis was established by laparotom. and by histopathology of hysterectom. sam.le if hysterectom. would be done. Results: One-hundred fifty patients were enrolled in the study. 2D-US has higher sensitivity (86.96%) than 2D color Doppler (84.06%) and 3D-PD (79.71%) in the diagnosis of placenta accreta. On the other hand, 3D-PD has slightly higher specificity (83.95%) than color Doppler (82.72%) and 2D-US (77.78%) in the diagnosis of placenta accreta. The m.st sensitive param.ter in 2D-Us was the loss of retroplacental sonolucent zone (86.96%). As regards color Doppler, the m.st sensitive param.ter was the hypervascularity of the uterine-bladder interface (84.06%). Tortuous vascularity with chaotic branching was the m.st sensitive param.ter in 3D-PD with a sensitivity of 82.61%. Conclusions: The use of 3D power Doppler with both 2D-US and color Doppler as com.lem.ntary techniques could im.rove the antenatal diagnosis or exclusion of m.rbidly adherent placenta.

This paper presents a m.dified m.thod to solve m.lti-objective nonlinear program.ing problem. with fuzzy param.ters in its objective functions and these fuzzy param.ters are characterized by fuzzy num.ers. The m.dified m.thod is based on norm.lized trade-off weights. The obtained stability set corresponding to α-Pareto optim.l solution, using our m.thod, is investigated. m.reover, an algorithm.for obtaining any subset of the param.tric space which has the sam. corresponding α-Pareto optim.l solution is presented. Finally, a num.rical exam.le to illustrate our m.thod is also given.
