Combined effects of soil texture and machine operating trail gradient on changes in forest soil physical properties during ground-based skidding

Wood extraction by heavy machinery has always been associated with soil disturbance in mountain forests,and the degree of soil degradation is influenced by several factors,including site and soil characteristics,soil moisture,type of equipment used,and number of machine *** effects of ground-based skidding operations on the physical properties of soils with different texture were evaluated at different levels of traffic frequency and trail gradient at two sites in an Iranian temperate *** treatments included combinations of three different traffic frequencies(3,8,and 14 passes of a rubber-tired cable skidder),three levels of trail gradient(20%) and two soil texture classes,clay loam(Site 1) and sandy loam(Site 2).The average gravimetric soil moisture at the time of skidding was 23%(Site 1) and 20%(Site 2).The average dry bulk density and total porosity of the undisturbed soil(control) were0.71 g cm-3 and 73.3% at Site 1(clay loam) and 0.86 g cm-3and 59.1% at Site 2(sandy loam),*** site 1(fine-textured soil),rutting began after three passes of the skidder,whereas at site 2(coarse-textured soil),rutting occurred only after eight *** of the traffic frequency and trail gradient,machine impact on the fine-textured soil caused greater increases in bulk density and rut depth compared to that on the coarse-textured *** three skidder passes and independent from trail gradients,dry bulk density at Site 1 increased by 54.8% compared to that of the undisturbed control,and the increase was 45.5% at Site ***,medium to fine-textured soils are more susceptible to compaction than coarse-textured *** soils,especially when moist,should be protected using brush mats created from harvesting residues during the forest processing phase.

Soil physical properties degrade further on skid trails in the year following operations

Short-term recovery of soil physical properties on skid trails was investigated upon cessation of skidding operations and 1 year later. Bulk density and porosity were assessed at three levels of traffic intensity and two slope gradients. Compared to undisturbed areas, bulk density increased, total porosity and macroporosity decreased, and microporosity increased in the compacted areas immediately after skidding. In all cases, changes were significantly greater when traffic intensity was higher and when slopes were steeper. Surface soil compaction did not show any recovery over the 1-year period, illustrating the persistent effects of compaction on soil structure. In fact, surficial compaction further increased and macroporosity further decreased after 1 year of recovery, compared to immediately after skidding. While these changes may reflect inherent small-scale site variability or differences in soil moisture content at times of sampling, direct negative physical impacts on newly exposed soil（such as by raindrops）, in addition to the loss of organic matter after canopy removal and skidding, likely delayed any physical recovery, particularly on heavily trafficked trails on steeper slopes. These results raise serious concerns about longterm resilience to traffic on forest soils and indicate the necessity to properly retire skid trails to avoid further soil degradation as trails age.

HLA class Ⅱ alleles and risk for peripheral neuropathy in type 2 diabetes patients

The potential impact of human leukocyte antigen （HLA） genotype variations on development of diabetic peripheral neuropathy （DPN） is not well determined. This study aimed to identify the association of HLA class II alleles with DPN in type 2 diabetes （T2D） patients. Totally 106 T2D patients, 49 with DPN and 57 without DPN, and 100 ethnic-matched healthy controls were analyzed. Both groups of the patients were matched based on sex, age, body mass index （BMI） and duration of T2D. Polyneuropathy was diagnosed using electrodiagnostic methods. HLA-DRB1 and DQB1 genotyping was performed in all subjects by the polymerase chain reaction with sequence-specific primers （PCR-SSP） method. T2D patients with DPN showed higher frequencies of HLA-DRB1＊10 and DRB1＊12 alleles compared to control group （P = 0.04）. HLA-DQB1＊02 allele and HLA-DRB1＊07-DQB1＊02 haplotype were associated with a decreased risk for developing DPN in T2D patients （P = 0.02 and P = 0.05 respectively）. Also, patients with severe neuropathy showed higher frequencies of DRB1＊07 （P = 0.003） and DQB1＊02 （P = 0.02） alleles than those with mild-to-moderate form of neuropathy. The distribution of DRB 1 and DQB 1 alleles and haplotypes were not statistically different between all patients and healthy controls. Our findings implicate a possible protective role of HLA-DQB1＊02 allele and HLA-DRB1＊07-DQB1＊02 haplotype against development of peripheral neuropathy in T2D patients. Therefore, variations in HLA genotypes might be used as genetic markers for prediction and potentially management of neuropathy in T2D patients.

Non-Monotonic Lyapunov-Krasovskii Functional Approach to Stability Analysis and Stabilization of Discrete Time-Delay Systems

In this paper, a novel non-monotonic Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional approach is proposed to deal with the stability analysis and stabilization problem of linear discrete time-delay systems. This technique is utilized to relax the monotonic requirement of the Lyapunov-Krasovskii theorem. In this regard, the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional is allowed to increase in a few steps, while being forced to be overall decreasing. As a result, it relays on a larger class of Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals to provide stability of a state-delay system. To this end, using the non-monotonic Lyapunov-Krasovskii theorem, new sufficient conditions are derived regarding linear matrix inequalities(LMIs)to study the global asymptotic stability of state-delay ***, new stabilization conditions are also proposed for time-delay systems in this article. Both simulation and experimental results on a p H neutralizing process are provided to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method.

主要分析伊朗东北部萨卜泽瓦尔蛇绿岩带Baghejar铬铁矿（BCM）周边土壤的镍、铬浓度,采用污染指数评估土壤污染程度。土壤样品（深度为0-20cm）采于距BCM矿不同距离的地点。采用原子吸收光谱测定土壤样品中重金属（铬和镍）含量。绘制等高线图描述重金属的空间分布,同时对金属污染程度进行了量化。结果表明,采样地土壤受到铬和镍污染。铬和镍的相应浓度分别达到（156.19±24.45）和（321.7±133.27）mg/kg,超出对应的土壤最大允许浓度。各种指数显示出铬铁矿周边土壤显著受到铬和镍污染,超出正常范围数倍之多。研究表明,重金属浓度随着与矿区距离增加而增加。采矿产生的污染可以迁移到距源头较远的地方。

In this research KCl, KCl:Mn, KCl:Ag and KCl:In single crystals have been grown by Czochralski method. X-ray diffraction confirms KCl single crystal formation. In this work also influence of mentioned impurities on the optical property of KCl single crystal has been studied by chemical etching. Then the hardness of these crystals have been measured by Vickers micro hardness. The result indicate the positive effect of the impurity on optical and mechanical properties.

Promising Effects of Zerumbone on the Regulation of Tumor-promoting Cytokines Induced by TNF-α-activated Fibroblasts

Inflammation plays an important role in the development of several *** cytokines,including tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),are associated with the induction of *** inflammation contributes to the progression of cancer through several mechanisms,including increased cytokine production and activation of transcription factors,such as nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB).Zerumbone(ZER),a component of subtropical ginger(Zingiber zerumbet Smith),seems to have anti-inflammatory,anti-cancer,and antioxidant *** this study,we aimed to explore the protective function and mechanisms of ZER against TNF-α-induced cancer-promoting *** found that the viability of stimulated human fibroblast cell lines was reduced after treatment with ZER(IC50=18µmol/L),compared to un-stimulated fibroblasts(IC50=40µmol/L).Besides,ZER inhibited mRNA expression and protein secretion of transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β),interleukin-33(IL-33),monocyte chemoattractant protein-1(MCP-1),and stromal cell-derived factor 1(SDF-1),which were produced by TNF-α-induced fibroblasts,as measured by quantitative real time-PCR(qRT-PCR)and ELISA *** mRNA expression levels of TGF-β,IL-33,SDF-1,and MCP-1 showed 8,5,2.5,and 4-fold reductions,***,secretion of TGF-β,IL-33,SDF-1,and MCP-1 was reduced to 3.65±0.34 ng/mL,6.3±0.26,1703.6±295.2,and 5.02±0.18 pg/mL,respectively,compared to the untreated *** addition,the conditioned media(CM)of TNF-α-stimulated fibroblasts increased the NF-κB expression in colorectal cancer cell lines(HCT-116 and Sw48),while in the vicinity of ZER,the expression of NF-κB was *** the significant effects of ZER,this component can be used as an appropriate alternative herbal treatment for cancer-related chronic inflammation.

Evaluation of interleukin 8 +2767 A/T polymorphism in visceral leishmaniasis

Objective:To evaluated the relationship between the genetic variations at IL-8 +2767 position with VL pathogenesis among Iranian ***:Three groups including patients with VL clinical presentation and leishmania seropositive(n=124).patients seropositive but without clinical presentation(n=82) and healthy controls(n=63) were selected to conduct this cross-sectional *** at +2767 position of IL-8 was investigated using PCR-RPLP ***-leishmania antibody titration was evaluated by the immunoflorescence ***:We observed higher significant frequencies +2767 A/A and A/T genotypes in groups I compared to group 2 and healthy controls(P=0.001).Also,patients in Group 1 carriyng A/A genotype showed higher liter of antileshmania antibody than patients with A/T and T/T genotypes(P=0.05).The validity of the data was analyzed using Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium and one way analysis of variance(ANOVA),as well as x^***:Our findings indicate that the IL-8 +2767 polymorphism is significantly involved in impaired immune responses against VL and it could be considered as a risk factor for the VL progress.

Landslide Zoning in Amir-Almoemenin (AS) Water Supply Pipeline Complex, North Khorasan

Landslide term is used for all mass movements on slopes, including falling, overturns and flow debris. Using the potential landslide hazard zonation, areas with high potential of landslide hazard can be detected and so prevent the landslide occurrence with providing appropriate solutions. In this study, the landslide hazard zonation along the water transmission lines of the Amir-Almomenin (AS) water supply complex has been done. Studied area is located at the western part of the Northern Khorasan (Bojnord). Study procedure includes the general geology survey, recognition of the most important effective parameters on the landslide phenomena (such as slope, lithology, faults and streams) and has been evaluated as basic maps. Then, each layer was validated based on the importance of the effective factors using the maps weighting method in ArcGis software. Finally, the studied area was zoned based on the landslide potential using the overlapping of the various layers. Final zonation map shows that the North, Northwestern and Median parts of the studied area have the highest landslide potential. These areas are included of Marl and red Marl and to some extend loss deposits with slopes between 14 to more of 50 degrees. Seemingly, faults (due to low occurrence) and streams (due to drought) have lower effect on the landslide potential. However, the degree of the slope and type of lithology are the most important parameters on the landslide potential, respectively.
