The syntheses of nanosized carbonated hydroxyapatite （CHA） were performed by comparing dropwise and direct pouring of acetone solution of Ca（NO3）2·4H2O into mixture of （NH4）2HPO4 and NH4HCO3 at room temperature controlled at pH 11. Direct pouring method was later applied to study the increment of carbonate content in syntheses. The as-synthesized powders were characterized by various characterization techniques. The crystallographic results of the produced powders were obtained from X-ray diffraction analysis, whilst the carbonate content in the produced powders was determined by the CHNS/O elemental analyzer. Fourier transform infrared analysis confirmed that the CHA powders formed were B-type. Field emission scanning electron microscopy revealed that the powders were highly agglomerated in nanosized range and hence energy filtered transmission electron microscopy was employed to show elongated particles which decreased with increasing carbonate content.

A thin film of blended poly-N-epoxypropylcarbazole（PEPC）（25 wt.%）,nickel phthalocyanine（NiPc）（50 wt.%） and ZnO nano-powder（25 wt.%） in benzene（5 wt.%） was spin-coated on a glass substrate with silver electrodes to produce a surface-type Ag/PEPC/NiPc/ZnO/Ag capacitive and resistive *** with two different PEPC/NiPc/ZnO film thicknesses（330 and 400 nm） were fabricated and *** effects of humidity on capacitance and resistance of the Ag/PEPC/NiPc/ZnO/Ag sensors were investigated at two frequencies of the applied voltage：120 Hz and 1 *** was observed that at 120 Hz under humidity of up to 95%RH the capacitance of the sensors increased by 540 times and resistance decreased by 450 times with respect to humidity conditions of 50%RH. It was found that the sensor with a thinner semiconducting film（330 nm） was more sensitive than the sensor with a thicker film（400 nm）.The sensitivity was improved when the sensor was used at a lower frequency as compared with a high *** is assumed that the humidity response of the sensors is associated with absorption of water vapors and doping of water molecules in the semiconductor blend *** had been proven by simulation of the capacitance-humidity relationship.

Snthesized B-type CHA powder was obtained by direct pouring nanoemulsion method at ambient temperature. Compacted 22 800-1,100 °C. During the cooling stage, wet CO2 was pumped in when temperature reaches 200 °C. It was found that CHA+Mg(OH)2 samples cooled down in wet CO2 atmosphere were more dense, (94% relative density) at a low temperature of 800°C, retaining B-type CHA with 4.30 wt% carbonate. However, HA+Mg(OH)2 and pure HA reached maximum densification (81 and 78%, respectively) at 1100 °C but had transformed to AB- and A-type CHA. The wet CO2 atmosphere not only prevents the decomposition of carbonate from CHA structure but also aids in densification. Consequently, the sintered CHA+Mg(OH)2, showed improved mechanical properties with hardness of 2.37 GPa.

Physical Properties Characterization of Fe-Deficient Mg0.9Mn0.1Fe2-xO4 Soft Ferrite by Citrate Precursor Method

Mg-Mn ferrite powders of Mg0.9Mn0.1Fe2-xO4 (x = 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8) composition were synthesized by citrate precursor method at low temperature. The decomposition temperature, of the precursor occurred around 500 °C, which was confirmed by using Thermogravimetrical Analysis (TGA). Phase formation was characterized by the X-ray diffraction method (XRD), and microstructure was examined by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The density and porosity of sintered pellets were measured by Archimedes’ method. The XRD results of the calcined powders for all the different compositions revealed the presence of single phase cubic spinel structure. The synthesized powders were found to be fine agglomerated particles with the crystallite size in the range of 15 to 25 nm. The present investigations clearly point towards the merits of citrate precursor method that it results in very fine, reactive and homogenous powders with enhanced physical properties at low processing temperature. Magnetic measurements were obtained by Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) and the results of Magnetization show collinear ferromagnetic behavior. The dielectric constant (ε) indicated strong frequency dependence.

Synthesis of Biphasic Calcium Phosphate by Hydrothermal Route and Conversion to Porous Sintered Scaffold

Biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) consisting of hydroxyapatite (HA) and β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) was successfully synthesized by new hydrothermal route using β-TCP as precursor. The X-ray diffraction analysis of as-synthesized powder indicated that β-TCP had been transformed into HA phase and amount of HA formed gradually increased with prolonged time. The results revealed that the recent technique may be able to control the composition of the obtained BCP which would influence the bioresorbability. Porous body of BCP was prepared by impregnation of polymeric sponge template with the slurry of the powder followed by sintering. The X-ray diffraction of porous product revealed that the composition of β-TCP increased after sintering indicating that HA had been decomposed. Porous BCP obtained from the recent technique possessed both macro and micropores structure which are useful for rapid tissue formation. Besides, the recent porous fabrication technique yielded porous BCP which preserved the sponge template morphology, enabling it to fabricate porous material with controlled pores structure.

Objective:To address the lack of research on invasive group B Streptococcus(GBS)infections in Malaysia and Southeast Asia through a comprehensive analysis of GBS isolates obtained from ***:Medical records from patients with GBS infection isolated from the sterile site,such as blood and cerebrospinal fluid from 14 July 2019 to 15 December 2020,were reviewed from six major hospitals in Peninsular *** criteria were invasive GBS,sterile sites and non-repeated GBS isolated from the same patients in the same *** isolates were re-identified for GBS and ***:A total of 118 patients were eligible,with a majority of non-pregnant adults(76.3%).Over half of the patients(62.7%)had underlying medical conditions,with diabetes as the most common disease,followed by respiratory disease,renal disease,cardiovascular disease and skin and soft tissue *** most common manifestations were sepsis,followed by soft tissue abscess,diabetic foot ulcer,wet gangrene and *** overall mortality was 7.6%.The most common serotype was serotype桋.Conclusions:Invasive GBS infection among non-pregnant adults showed a rising trend,particularly among diabetic *** study underscores the importance of reducing risk factors and highlights the necessity of developing GBS vaccination as a preventive strategy for both infants and adults.

We report a rapid method for synthesis of zeolitic imidazolate framework 8(ZIF-8)-decorated graphene oxide(GO)composites(ZGO)with good antibacterial *** ZGO composites were synthesized at room temperature with low GO to metal salt *** samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction,transmission electron microscopy,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,thermal gravimetric analysis,and surface area *** characterization results show that ZIF-8 with a size of approximately 120 nm is successfully decorated on the surface of GO sheets with the host ZIF-8 framework maintained in the synthesized composite,but there is a significant reduction in the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface *** antibacterial activities of the samples against Escherichia coli ATCC 11229 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 as model strains of gram-negative and-positive bacteria,respectively,were determined by disc diffusion and minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)***-1.0(1 wt%of ratio of GO to metal salt)shows the highest antibacterial activity with MIC values required to inhibit bacterial growth of *** and *** of 5 times lower than those of pristine *** antibacterial mechanisms are proposed based on field-emission scanning electron microscope images of the two bacteria after contact with the synthesized ***,owing to the simple synthesis,good stability,low chemical usage,and excellent antibacterial activity of the ZGO composites,they show great potential for application in the field of microbial contamination control.

Affordable hydrophobic hollow fibre membranes were prepared using kaolin and alumina based ceramic powders via a combined phase inversion and sintering technique,followed by a grafting with fluoroalkylsilane(FAS).The crux of the matter in this paper is to study the changes in the properties of the hollow fibre membranes(gas permeation,mechanical strength,pore size,porosity,tortuosity,morphology,and contact angle)by the addition of alumina(Al2O3)to the pure kaolin with mono or multiparticle *** varying the overall loading and particle size of alumina addition,different morphologies of the membranes were obtained due to the differences in the path lengths during phase inversion process for each solvent and nonsolvent *** successful grafting with FAS was evidenced by the increase in contact angle from nearly equal to zero degree before grafting to 140°after ***-alumina-4,one of the hollow fibres fabricated in this work,achieved a mean pore size of 0.25μm with the bending strength of 96.4 MPa and high nitrogen permeance of 2.3×10^(-5) mol·m^(-2)·Pa^(-1)·s^(-1),which makes the hollow fibre most suitable for the membrane contactor application.
