Objective:To evaluate parasite distribution and tissue tropism of Toxoplasma gondii tachyzoites in experimentally infected mice using real time ***:In this survey 16 Balb/c mice were inoculated with 1×10~4 alive tachyzoites of Toxoplasma gondii RH *** 1,2,3 days post infection and the last day(before death),different tissues of mice including blood,brain,eye,liver,spleen,kidney,heart and muscle were *** tissues DNA extraction,the parasite burden was quantified using real time QPCR targeting the B1 gene(451 bp).Results:It showed that Toxoplasma after intraperitoneal injection was able to movement to various tissues in24 *** burden was high in all tissues but the most number of parasites were observed in kidney,heart and liver,***:These data provide significant baseline information about Toxoplasma pathogenesis,vaccine monitoring and drug efficiency.

Objective:To analyze and review the overall seroprevalence rate of Toxoplasma gondii(***) infection in cattle from ***:In the current study,data collection(published and unpublished papers,abstracts of national scientific congresses and dissertations) using particular terms was carried out systematically on the following electronic databases like PubMed,Google Scholar,Ebsco,Science Direct,Scopus,Magiran,Irandoc,IranMedex and SID(Scientific Information Database).Results:A total of 22 studies since 1983 to 2012 reporting the seroprevalence of toxoplasmosis in cattle from different regions of Iran met our eligibility *** pooled proportion of toxoplasmosis,using random effect model,among cattle in Iran from over the 30-year period was estimated 18.1%(95%CI:9.9%to 28.2%).Conclusions:This study firstly establishes a crude seroprevalence rate of Toxoplasma infection in cattle which can lead us to understand the condition of eattle toxoplasmosis,which have to take into accounted fur an appropriate and effective prevention and ***,it compares and discusses elaborately the role of risk factors including sex,age and breed in the epidemiology of the ***,it determines gaps and drawbacks in the prior studies which are greatly useful to design more accurate investigations in the future.

Objective: To evaluate the overall prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii infection among birds and poultries in Iran. Methods: Data were systematically collected from 1983 to 2016 in Iran on the following electronic databases: Pub Med, Google Scholar, Science Direct, Scopus, Web of Science, Magiran, Irandoc, Iran Medex, and Scientific Information Database. Additionally, the abstracts of national scientific congresses and dissertations were included. Results: A total of 20 articles in the field of birds and poultries toxoplasmosis, totally examining 4 563 cases with 754 positive results reporting the overall prevalence of infection from all parts of Iran could fulfill our eligibility criteria. The overall estimated prevalence included in chicken 20%(95% CI: 3% to 38%) in chicken, pigeons 8%(95% CI:-17% to 33%) and in sparrows 15%(95% CI:-25% to 54%). Conclusion: Although there is a lack in data about poultries and birds toxoplasmosis in Iran, our meta-analysis revealed that infection rate is high among birds and poultries in Iran. More studies are needed to manage controlling programs and prevention strategies among poultries in Iran.

Objective:To study the parasitic contamination of soil in selected areas of Sari,north of ***:A cross-sectional study was conducted to identify all available parasites in surface and deep *** this study 580 soil samples(278 deep soil and 302 topsoil samples)from 21 different locations were collected from pathways,parks,greenhouses,estates around the city,cemetery,main squares,farmlands,fenced gardens and *** on the soil type,two samples were prepared,from surface and deep soil at the depth of 3 to 5 *** performing various stages of preparation,including cleaning and washing,smoothing and flotation,parasitic elements were examined microscopically and quantitative parasite counting was done using a McMaster ***:The results showed that the highest rate of parasitic contamination was related to nematodes larvae(26.11%).Other contaminants such as Entamoeba and Acanthamoeba cysts,vacuolization Blastocystis hominis form,oocyte containing sporocysts,Toxascaris eggs,nematoda larvae,Hymenolepis eggs,Ascaris eggs,Fasciola eggs,hookworm eggs,Toxocara eggs,insects'larvae and other ciliated and flagellated organisms were also *** results of this study showed that the highest contamination was found in public garden(25.80%)both in surface(29.30%)and in deep soil(21.12%),while the lowest level of contamination was observed in seashore surface soil(4.90%).Conclusions:The results showed that soil can provide a potential medium for the spread of soil transmitted parasitic diseases in the environment;therefore,preventive programs are needed.

AIM:To characterize the histopathologic specifications of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH)according to age and ***:An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted in two private gastroenterology clinics on biopsy proven patients suffering from *** histopathologic findings as well as demographic and laboratory data of the patients at the time of biopsy were gathered retrospectively from clinical *** grading and staging of histopathologic findings were performed according to the Brunt method after reevaluation of the slides by a *** were divided into two groups according to age(belowand above 55 years).Mean quantitative grade of all pathologic findings were also calculated according to Brunt scoring ***:A total number of 77 NASH patients,consisting of 58 males(75.3%)and 19(24.7%)females with a mean age of 41.99±11.80 years(range,18-70 years),were *** mean age(48.72±13.99 years vs 39.74±10.16 years,P=0.004)and aspartate aminotransferase level(75.11±29.68 U/L vs 52.78± 25.00 U/L,P=0.002)was significantly higher in female *** quantitative grade of hepatosteatosis was significantly higher in females(2.00±0.82 vs 1.59 ±0.68,P=0.031)compared to *** four percent(34/65)of young patients had mild hepatosteatosis (GradeⅠ)while only one patient(11.2%)in the older group had gradeⅠ*** aged≥55 had significantly more severe hepatosteatosis(GradeⅢ) (44.4%vs 9.5%,P=0.007)and the mean quantitative grade of hepatosteatosis was significantly higher among them(2.33±0.71 vs 1.56±0.67,P=0.002).Multivariate analysis after omitting the confounding role of age revealed a higher grade of hepatosteatosis in female patients(P=0.010).CONCLUSION:These findings point toward the possible influence of age in the severity of steatohepatitis,portal and lobar inflammation in patients suffering from NASH while gender independently might contribute to the level of steatohepatitis.

Effects of cinnamon on perineal pain and healing of episiotomy: a randomized placebo-controlled trial

BACKGROUND： Analgesic and wound-healing effects of cinnamon, a widely used spice, have been shown in laboratory rats. However, we found no human studies in this area. OBJECTIVE： The aim of this study was to assess the effect of cinnamon on perineal pain and healing of episiotomy incision. DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS AND INTERVENTIONS： In this double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial, 144 postpartum women were allocated into two groups, using stratified block randomization, 1 h after completion of episiotomy repair. They received cinnamon or placebo ointment, 2 mL every 12 h for 10 d. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： Perineal pain and wound healing were assessed using visual analogue scale （0-10）and Redness, Edema, Ecchymosis, Discharge, Approximation scale （0-15）, respectively. General linear model was used to compare the groups on the outcomes adjusted for baseline values and stratified factors. RESULTS： Follow-up rate was 100% up to the 8 h time point in both groups, and 86% （62 of 72） in the cinnamon group and 85% （61 of 72） in the placebo group at day 10-11 after delivery. Pain score in the cinnamon group was significantly lower than that in the placebo group at （4±1） h （adjusted difference： -0.6, 95% confidence interval： -1.0 to -0.2） and （8＋1） h （-0.9, -1.4 to -0.3） after intervention, and on the 10-11th day after delivery （-1.4, -2.0 to -0.7）. Also the cinnamon group showed significantly more improvement than the control group in healing score at （8±1） h （-0.2, -0.4 to -0.04） and the 10-11th day after delivery （-1.6, -2.0 to -1.1）. CONCLUSION： Cinnamon can be used for reducing perineal pain and improving healing of episiotomy incision.

A 31-year-old female who had well-established polycythemia vera one year before, presented with the sudden onset. She had severe ascites and hepatic encephalopathy 12 d prior to admission. Real-time ultrasonography revealed a supra hepatic thrombosis extending toward the inferior vena cava (lVC). Thrombolytic therapy with systemic streptokinase (250 000 IU loading + 100 000 IU/h infusion) was started. At the end of 72 h infusion, the patient's general condition improved. A color Doppler ultrasonography then showed complete and partial resolution of the thrombosis in the supra hepatic vein and IVC, respectively. Despite this good response, 12 d later, the symptoms recurred. Venography detected complete obstruction of the lVC. Percutanous balloon angioplasty with stent insertion was performed successfully and the patient was discharged without any evidence of liver disease. A combination of systemic streptokinase and radiological intervention was effective in our patient.

Immunogenicity of recombinant hepatitis B virus vaccine in patients with and without chronic hepatitis C virus infection:A case-control study

AIM: To compare the response of standard hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccination between patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection and healthy individuals. METHODS: This is a prospective case-control study. A total of 38 patients with chronic HCV infection and 40 healthy controls were included. Vaccination was performed by injection of 20 μg recombinant HBsAg into the deltoid muscle at mo 0, 1 and 6. Anti-HBs concentration was determined 3 mo after the last dose and compared between the two groups. The response pattern was characterized as (1) high-response when the anti-HBs antibody titer was > 100 IU/L, (2) low-response when the titer was 10-100 IU/L and (3) no-response when the titer was < 10 IU/L. RESULTS: In the patient group, there were 10/38 (26.3%) non-responders, 8/38 (21.1%) low-responders and 20/38 (52.6%) high-responders. The corresponding values in the control group were 2/40 (5.0%), 7/40 (17.5%) and 31/40 (77.5%), respectively. The response pattern was statistically different between the two groups. In multivariate analysis, smoking was a significant confounder, while HCV infection lost its significant correlation with lower antibody response. CONCLUSION: Patients with chronic HCV infection tend to respond weakly to HBV vaccination compared to healthy individuals, though this correlation is not independent according to multivariate analysis.
