Effect of impeller design on homogeneity, size and strength of pharmaceutical granules produced by high-shear wet granulation

Small mixer impeller design is not tailored for granulation because impellers are intended for a wide range of processes. The aim of this research was to evaluate the performances of several impellers to provide guidance on the selection and design for the purposes of granulation. Lactose granules were produced using wet granulation with water as a binder. A Kenwood KM070 mixer was used as a standard apparatus and five impeller designs with different shapes and surface areas were used. The efficacy of granulate for- mation was measured by adding an optically sensitive tracer to determine variations in active ingredient content across random samples of granules from the same size classes. It was found that impeller design influenced the homogeneity of the granules and therefore can affect final product performance. The vari- ation in active ingredient content across granules of differing size was also investigated. The results show that small granules were more potent than larger granules,

Liver transplantation(LT)remains the best option for patients with end-stage liver disease but the demand for organs from deceased donors continues to outweigh the available *** advent of highly effective anti-viral treatments has reduced the number of patients undergoing LT for hepatitis C(HCV)and hepatitis b(HbV)related liver disease and yet the number of patients waiting for LT continues to increase,driven by an increase in the patients listed with a diagnosis of cirrhosis due to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis and alcoholrelated liver *** addition,human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)infection,which was previously a contra-indication for LT,is no longer a fatal disease due to the effectiveness of HIV therapy and patients with HIV and liver disease are now developing indications for *** rising demand for LT is projected to increase further in the future,thus driving the need to investigate potential means of expanding the pool of potential *** mechanism for doing so is utilizing organs from donors that previously would have been discarded or used only in exceptional circumstances such as HCV-positive,HbV-positive,and HIVpositive *** advent of highly effective anti-viral therapy has meant that these organs can now be used with excellent outcomes in HCV,HbV or HIV infected recipients and in some cases uninfected recipients.

The primary objective of present investigation is to introduce the novel aspects of convective mass condition and thermal radiation in the peristaltic transport of fluid. Magnetohydrodynamic(MHD) fluid was considered in a symmetric channel. Heat and mass transfer characteristics were analyzed in the presence of Soret and Dufour effects, and the results were presented via two forms of thermal radiation. The temperature, concentration and pressure rise per wavelength were examined. It is observed that the velocity slip and magnetic field parameters have opposite effects on the pressure rise per wavelength. Temperature of fluid is a decreasing function of the radiation parameter. Further, the temperature of fluid decreases by increasing the heat transfer biot number. It is notified that the heat transfer rate at the wall is a decreasing function of radiation parameter.

Peristalsis of Carreau-Yasuda fluid is investigated. Analysis is carried out in the presence of velocity slip and convective boundary conditions. Thermal conductivity of the fluid is taken to be temperature dependent. Lubrication analysis is used in the formulation of the problem. Resulting nonlinear system of equations is solved numerically. Impact of embedded parameters on the quantities of interest is examined through graphs and tables. Comparison of the behavior of the Carreau-Yasuda, Carreau and Newtonian fluid models is presented. Results show that the heat transfer rate at the wall for the Carreau fluid model is large when compared with the Newtonian or the Carreau-Yasuda fluid model. Also the heat transfer rate at the wall decreases with increase in the velocity slip and variable thermal conductivity parameters. Further, an increase in the biot number reduces the fluid temperature by a considerable amount.

We demonstrate antimonene as a saturable absorber(SA) to generate an ultrafast mode-locked and Q-switched laser in the 2 μm wavelength region. The two antimonene-based SAs were prepared and inserted separately in a thulium–holmiumdoped fiber laser to produce the pulsed laser. Antimonene was coated onto a tapered fiber to generate soliton mode-locked pulses and used in thin-film form for the generation of Q-switched pulses. The mode-locking was stable within a pump power of 267 m W–511 m W, and the laser operated at a central wavelength of 1897.4 nm. The mode-locked laser had a pulse width of 1.3 ps and a repetition rate of 12.6 MHz, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 64 d b. Q-switched laser operation was stable at a wavelength of 1890.1 nm within a pump power of 312 m W–381 m W. With the increase in pump power from 312 m W to 381 m W, the repetition rate increased to a maximum of 56.63 k Hz and the pulse width decreased to a minimum value of 2.85 μs. Wide-range tunability of the Q-switched laser was also realized within the wavelength range of1882 nm–1936 nm.

In this article, we present a hepatitis b epidemic model with saturated *** dynamic behaviors of the deterministic and stochastic system are studied. To thisend, we first establish the local and global stability conditions of the equilibrium of thedeterministic model. Second, by constructing suitable stochastic Lyapunov functions, thesufficient conditions for the existence of ergodic stationary distribution as well as extinctionof hepatitis b are obtained.

Mixed convection three-dimensional flow of Jeffrey fluid is studied in the presence of thermal radiation and thermophoresis. The relevant problems are formulated,and series solutions are presented for velocities, temperature, and concentration. Convergence of series solutions is obtained graphically and numerically. Effects of different emerging parameters on the velocities, temperature, and concentration fields are plotted and discussed.
