Objective： To assess the interobserver agreement on Garden classification of fresh femoral neck fracture and management plan based on anteroposterior （AP） view and also assess if the addition of lateral view changes the classification and management plan. Methods： Ten orthopaedic surgeons were asked to classify 35 femoral neck fractures on AP view only and propose the management plan. Then the same films were reshown in conjunction with their lateral view after 10 days. Results were compared with respect to the classification and management plan between two groups. Interobserver agreement was calculated using Fleiss＇ kappa. Results： There was only a fair interobserver agreement （kappa value 0.39） on Garden classification on AP view only which improved to moderate agreement （kappa value 0.52） after adding a lateral view. While there was only a slight improvement in the interobserver agreement on the management plan on AP view only （kappa value 0.50） and AP combined with lateral views （kappa value 0.52）. Supplementation of the lateral view changed the classification in 15.42% of the cases and altered the management plan in 23.14% of the cases. Conclusion： We conclude that lateral view should be obtained routinely on all patients with suspected femoral neck fracture as it definitely has a role in planning treatment of femoral neck fracture.

Categorization and Reorientation of Images Based on Low Level Features

A hierarchical system to perform automatic categorization and reorientation of images using content analysis is pre-sented. The proposed system first categorizes images to some a priori defined categories using rotation invariant features. At the second stage, it detects their correct orientation out of {0o, 90o, 180o, and 270o} using category specific model. The system has been specially designed for embedded devices applications using only low level color and edge features. Machine learning algorithms optimized to suit the embedded implementation like support vector machines (SVMs) and scalable boosting have been used to develop classifiers for categorization and orientation detection. Results are presented on a collection of about 7000 consumer images collected from open resources. The proposed system finds it applications to various digital media products and brings pattern recognition solutions to the consumer electronics domain.

随着世界范围内老龄化社会问题的日益严重,以及一些有运动障碍的特殊群体的扩大,致使跌倒成为了一个严重的社会问题。人体动态稳定性理论是防跌倒研究的理论基础,目前已经取得了有价值的进展。人体动态稳定性理论不同于静态稳定性理论,后者给出的是人体质心位置与支撑面之间的相对位置关系,而前者增加了人体质心速度的因素,给出的是人体质心位置—速度状态与动态稳定区域之间的关系,可利用稳度来判定人体所处的稳定状态,甚至定量评价人体的动态稳定程度。影响跌倒的主要因素有二:稳度为负和支撑不力。在防跌倒的研究中进行适应性练习可显著地提高滑前稳度和滑后稳度,分别体现了前馈控制和反馈控制对人体动态稳定性的神经生理影响。

Flow of micro particles and fluids is important in many microscopic systems. Here we present details of our finding of a directional flow of micro particles due to a single beam optical trap. It was found that the directional flow depends upon the size of optical trap, the number density of particles in the solution and the time after the trap was created. We suggest controlling the motion of microscopic particles in a fluid by varying a simple parameter like beam size for microfluidics applications.

Juvenile granulosa cell tumour (JGCT) is very uncommon gynaecological malignancy that occurs mostly commonly in less than five years of age. Only 0.1 percent of all ovarian tumours and 4 - 5 percent of granulosa cell tumours present as JGCT. The most common presentation of these tumours in children is precocious puberty. We describe anaesthetic management of a case of JGCT in a 1-year-old girl. The malignancy is assigned to International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics staging system (FIGO stage I). It was treated with complete excision and histological examination confirmed the diagnosis.

Disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BC) have been important areas of inquiry for both business managers and academicians. It is now widely believed that for achieving sustainable business continuity, a firm must be able to recover from both man-made and natural disasters. This is especially true for maintaining and recovering the lifeline of the organization and its data. Although the literature has discussed the importance of disaster recovery and business continuity, there is not much known about how Information System Data Analytics Resilience (ISDAR) and the organization’s ability to recover from lost information. In this research, we take a step in this direction and analyze the relationship of IS personnel expertise on ISDAR and investigate Information System (IS) personnel understanding of the firm’s competitive priorities, IS Personnel understanding of business policies and objectives, IS personnel’s ability to solve business problems, IS personnel initiatives in changing business processes and their determination and attentiveness to focus on achieving confident leadership in data and analytics resilience. We collected data through a survey of IS and business managers from 302 participants. Our results show that there is evidence to support our hypothesis and that there may indeed be a relationship between these variables.

Twin-T Oscillator Containing Polymer Coated Parallel Plate Capacitor for Sea Water Salinity Sensing

This paper presents the development of a Twin-T oscillator comprising polymer coated parallel plates as a sensor for ocean water salinity *** sensor employs a parallel plate capacitor design, with sea water serving as the medium between plates. Novalac resin and a proprietary commercial polymer (AccufloTW) were investigated as corrosion protective coatings for the copper electrodes of the capacitor. Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) was employed to evaluate corrosion inhibition of polymer coatingin sea water. A detection circuit was designed and simulated using P-spice and then implemented in Printed Circuit Board (PCB). EIS results indicate that Accuflo exhibits better corrosion inhibition in ocean water than Novolac. Further, the use of Twin-T oscillator based detection circuit resulted in enhanced sensitivity and better detection limit. Experiments performed using ocean water samples resulted in oscillator frequency shift of 410 Hertz/power supply unit (Hz/PSU). Oscillator frequency drift was reduced using frequency-to-voltage converters and sensitivity of 10 mV/PSU was achieved.

Clinical and prostate multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging findings as predictors of general and clinically significant prostate cancer risk:A retrospective single-center study

Background:To evaluate the predictive values of Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System version 2(PI-RADS v2),prostate-specific antigen(PSA)level,PSA density(PSAD),digital rectal examination findings,and prostate volume,individually and in combination,for the detection of prostate cancer(Pca)in biopsy-naïve ***:We retrospectively analyzed 630 patients who underwent transrectal systematic prostate biopsy following prostate multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging.A standard 12-core biopsy procedure was *** and multivariate analyses were performed to determine the significant predictors of clinically significant cancer but not ***:The median age,PSA level,and PSAD were 70 years,8.6 ng/mL,and 0.18 ng/mL/mL,respectively.A total of 374(59.4%)of 630 patients were biopsy-positive for Pca,and 241(64.4%)of 374 were diagnosed with clinically significant Pca(csPCa).The PI-RADS v2 score and PSAD were independent predictors of Pca and *** PI-RADS v2 score of 5 regardless of the PSAD value,or PI-RADS v2 score of 4 plus a PSAD of<0.3 ng/mL/mL,was associated with the highest csPCa detection rate(36.1%-82.1%).Instead,the PI-RADS v2 score of<3 and PSAD of<0.3 ng/mL/mL yielded the lowest risk of ***:The combination of the PI-RADS v2 score and PSAD could prove to be a helpful and reliable diagnostic tool before performing prostate *** with a PI-RADS v2 score of<3 and PSAD of<0.3 ng/mL/mL could potentially avoid a prostate biopsy.
