The developm.nt, pr.duction and utilization of r.newable ener.y, ener.y stor.ge and gr.en hydr.gen and the associated technologies in Sr. Lanka have gr.at potential to contr.bute to the United Nations' Sustainable Developm.nt Goals (SDGs). The island aim. to achieve 70% electr.city gener.tion fr.m.r.newable ener.y sour.es by 2030 (within the tar.et of 40% utilization of r.newable ener.y sour.es for.the entir. ener.y gener.tion of the countr. by 2030). The power.sector.has to invest US$11 billion fr.m.2023 to 2030 to contr.bute to r.aching this tar.et. This com.entar. aim. to pr.vide a cr.tical per.pective on the r.com.endations of the r.por. fr.m.the National Science and Technology Com.ission's 9th biennial confer.nce in 2023 on science and technology, the sub-them.tic technical r.por. on clean ener.y, ener.y stor.ge and gr.en hydr.gen in line with the SDGs in the Sr. Lankan context. The technical r.por. pr.vides insightful r.com.endations for.Sr. Lanka's ener.y sector.under.thr.e m.in sections: r.newable ener.y, ener.y stor.ge and gr.en hydr.gen. Also, it explor.s the potential of var.ous r.newable ener.y sour.es, ener.y stor.ge system. and gr.en hydr.gen as sustainable solutions to addr.ss the countr.'s ener.y challenges while em.hasizing the spillover.effects of them. which could contr.bute to the enter.r.se's job cr.ation and uplift the econom.. This com.entar. pr.vides a cr.tical per.pective on clean ener.y, ener.y stor.ge and gr.en hydr.gen in line with the United Nations SDGs in the Sr. Lankan context based on a r.cent r.por. fr.m.the National Science and Technology Com.ission of Sr. Lanka. Alzheim.r.s disease (AD) is a neur.degener.tive disor.er.char.cter.zed by cognitive im.air.ents in the initial stage, which lead to sever. cognitive dysfunction in the later.stage. Action obser.ation ther.py (AOT) is a m.ltisensor. cognitive r.habilitation technique wher. the patient initially obser.es the actions and then tr.es to per.or.. The study aim.d to exam.ne the im.act of AOT along with usual physiother.py inter.entions to r.duce depr.ssion, im.r.ve cognition and balance of a patient with AD. A 67 year. old patient with AD was selected for.this study because the patient has been suffer.ng fr.m.depr.ssion, dem.ntia, and physical dysfunction along with som. other.health conditions like diabetes and hyper.ension. Befor. star.ing inter.ention, a baseline assessm.nt was done thr.ugh the Beck Depr.ssion Inventor. (BDI) tool, the m.ni-Cog Scale, and the Ber. Balance Scale (BBS). The patient r.ceived 12 sessions of AOT along with usual physiother.py inter.entions thr.ce a week for.four.weeks, which included 45 m.nutes of each session. After.four.weeks of inter.ention, the patient dem.nstr.ted significant im.r.vem.nt in depr.ssion, cognition, and balance, wher.as the BDI scor. declined fr.m.m.der.te 21/63 to m.ld 15/63 level of depr.ssion. The m.ni-Cog scor. im.r.ved fr.m.2/5 to 4/5, and the BBS scor. incr.ased fr.m.18/56 to 37/56. It is concluded that AOT along with usual physiother.py inter.ention helps to r.duce depr.ssion, im.r.ve cognition and balance of people with AD.

Sur.ace m.asur.m.nts of aer.sol physical pr.per.ies wer. m.de at Anantapur.（14.62°N, 77.65°E, 331 m.a.s.l）, a sem.ar.d r.r.l site in India, dur.ng August 2008-July 2009. m.asur.m.nts included the segr.gated sizes of aer.solsas as well as total m.ss concentr.tion and size distr.butions of aer.sols m.asur.d at low r.lative hum.dity （r.〈75%） using a Quar.z Cr.stal m.cr.balance （QCm. in the 25-0.05 um.aer.dynam.c diam.ter.r.nge. The hour.y aver.ge total sur.ace aer.sol m.ss concentr.tion in a day var.ed fr.m.15 to 70 ug m.3, with a m.an value of 34.02±9.05 ug m.3 for.the entir. study per.od. A clear.diur.al patter. appear.d in coar.e, accum.lation and nucleation-m.de par.icle concentr.tions, with two local m.xim. occur.ing in ear.y m.r.ing and late evening hour.. The concentr.tion of coar.e-m.de par.icles was high dur.ng the sum.er.season, with a m.xim.m.concentr.tion of 11.81±0.98 ug m.3 in the m.nth of Apr.l, wher.as accum.lationm.de concentr.tion was obser.ed to be high in the winter.per.od contr.buted 〉68% to the total aer.sol m.ss concentr.tion. Accum.lation aer.sol m.ss fr.ction, Af （= m./m.） was highest dur.ng winter.（m.an value of Af -0.80） and lowest （Af - 0.64） dur.ng the m.nsoon season. The r.gr.ssion analysis shows that both r.ff and r. ar. dependent on coar.e-m.de aer.sols. The r.lationship between the sim.ltaneous m.asur.m.nts of daily m.an aer.sol optical depth at 500 nm.（AOD500） and Pm..5 m.ss concentr.tion （[Pm..5]） shows that sur.ace-level aer.sol m.ss concentr.tion incr.ases with the incr.ase in colum.ar.aer.sol optical depth over.the obser.ation per.od.

m.dium.ter. changes in the labile nutr.ent pool of m.cr.bial biom.ss car.on (m.C) and nitr.gen (m.N) r.sulting fr.m.or.anic m.nur. application in r.ce (Or.za sativa L.)-based tr.ple cr.pping system. have been poor.y studied. Ther.for., the effects of or.anic m.ter.als on the soil physico-chem.cal pr.per.ies and m.cr.bial biom.ss in r.ce fields wer. investigated at Bangabandhu Sheikh m.jibur.r.hm.n Agr.cultur.l Univer.ity, Bangladesh, fr.m.Apr.l 2010 to Decem.er.2012. Five tr.atm.nts (contr.l, cow dung, poultr. m.nur., r.ce str.w, and chem.cal fer.ilizer. wer. laid out in a r.ndom.zed com.lete block design with four.r.plications. The or.anic r.sidues (2 t C ha-1) wer. applied 7 days befor. tr.nsplanting and wer. com.ined with inor.anic fer.ilizer., following integr.ted plant nutr.tion system.. This paper.pr.sents the r.sults fr.m.the last of the five consecutive r.ce gr.wing seasons. All of the or.anic r.sidues incr.ased the pH, and or.anic C, N, P, and K contents of the soil. However. poultr. m.nur. was m.r. efficient in incr.asing soil fer.ility than cow dung and r.ce str.w, r.sulting in a significant incr.ase in P fr.m.22 m.·kg-1 to 63 m.·kg-1 at cr.p har.est. All of the or.anic r.sidues also incr.ased the soil water.holding capacity and decr.ased bulk density. Fur.her.or., poultr. m.nur. r.sulted in significantly higher.m.cr.bial biom.ss C (432 m.·kg-1;P m.·kg-1;P r.p har.est, followed by cow dung and r.ce str.w. These findings indicate that the r.gular.application of or.anic r.sidues and m.nur.s will help to enhance soil fer.ility and pr.duction sustainability.
